Contessa smiled and nodded at what Raymon said, "Yes, perhaps I can take a nap later. I still have quite a bit of things I need to get done first though." she informed and looked back at Daylen and sat down as she was told. "Oh I see, well alright then." she said and looked at the papers. It was probably wise for her to read the papers but she trusted Daylen and pulled out a pen and signed each paper where it was required. "I understand Daylen." she answered. Contessa was surprised that he was being very social today, it seemed they had switched personalities after the event. Now she was the one that was much more quiet, but she was more than happy to talk while he was talking. "You seem very social today Daylen, it's a nice surprise. I take it you slept very well, I'm glad." she said honestly and happily.
Daylen just watch her sign the paper. "You really should read those before you sign." He told her softly. He personality read them all and made sure everything was correct before signing them. "You never know what they are. I personally will never hurt but you never know what others would do. I might have missed something." He adjusted the papers in front of him. Daylen was always more social when he was working, she knew that. "I'm working. I am always social when I work Miss Contessa." He was putting the papers in the order they needed to be. He also kind of wanted to see her reaction on her account. It wasn't even a tenth of what he had in his but it was still an extremely large amount. Probably take her a lifetime to spend it, every month he had it set up so an allowance would be put into it. So it might be nearly impossible but he knew some girls that could do it.
"I know I should, but I trust you Daylen." she replied and chuckled. "I don't trust everyone Daylen, so don't worry. I'll make sure to read everything carefully." she assured and carefully read each paper in silence. Her eyes widened when she came across the paper with her bank account and how much it had. "W-What's this Daylen?" she asked curiously. Contessa knew what it was but perhaps he had made a mistake right? Surely he wasn't going to give her that much money was he? What was she going to do with all that money? She would probably die before she got to spend it all, not that she wanted to spend it all either. She never really liked to spend a lot of money on things.
Daylen just looked at the papers, a soft smile on his face. At least she trusted him, that was good. He was glad that she didn't trust everyone, some people you just couldn't. Raymon just came in a set the glass of substitute blood near Daylen. He nodded his thanks as Raymon walked over to her. "That would be your bank account Miss Contessa. If you look lower you will see you monthly allowance." He said sweetly before leaving the room, he had his daily task to care for. Daylen looked up after reading the paper in front of him. "It as Raymond says, if that is the paper you're looking at." He said softly returning to the paper in from of him signing it quickly and dated it. He making sure it all was properly filled out. Though he still needed to address the will, just not to her.
"B-But that's...that's a lot of money Daylen!" she gasped and looked down to see the monthly allowance and quickly rubbed her eyes, obviously confused and at a loss for words. Was that a regular amount? She never had so much money before, she didn't come from a rich family exactly. "This...it's not a mistake? Are you sure that's a regular amount Daylen? I mean, that's...that's a lot of money." she explained and ran her hand through her hair. Well at least she'd have money to buy some paints for the master bedroom she was supposed to paint but never had the time.
Daylen just nodded to her. "It is not a mistake. I make more than that on a monthly basis. Everything I make for this day forward will be split between you and I." He just looked at her and smiled softly. "My accounts are for the housely expenses and the staffing. Your's will be to do with what you want." He paused for a little. "Would you prefer more? I could have that arranged." He didn't mind it at all, he would gladly give her anything she wanted. He handed her another paper and smiled softly. "This paper is for your parents. Now that you are legally part of the di Pavia family. I have it set up that your family will be taken care of as well." He told her softly. He had given them the same amount of money as Contessa. He wasn't trying to do anything bad, he hoped that she and her father didn't take it wrong. He just wanted to make her happy by taking care of her and her family.
Contessa looked at him, completely shocked at this. It wasn't that she disapproved, she was just new to all this so she didn't know anything. "No...no that's perfectly fine. That's more than enough really." Contessa quickly answered and wondered what she was going to do with so much money. For a fact, she was going to buy paints and any supplies she needed to get the project done. As for furniture, she'd check the attic and the streets or thrift shops for that. She never looked at the fancy furniture because she never thought she'd be able to afford it. Now she could though, she wouldn't have to work as hard to have them painted or anything since what you saw was what you got. "It's very kind of you...to offer to give me more." she commented and smiled softly. "Hmm?" Contessa looked at the paper he had handed her and raised an eyebrow as she read through it. "Oh my goodness...! Daylen...are you sure about this?" she asked, looking at him wide eyed surprised at what he was doing. What were her parents going to do with so much money?
Daylen just looked at her oddly. "Why are you acting so shocked? Is it not the son's job to care for the parent's when he is old enough? You never mentioned a brother, I never seen one in the photos around your parent's house." He kept his soft smile. "My father always thought Sirus and I the traditional way. If there is no brother then we care for our bride's family as we do our own. The moment we were pronounced husband and wife they became my family. I'll make sure they're cared for." He told her softly. Did she not realize how traditional his family was by now? "My family is very traditional with the males, we embrace the old ways well some of them. Not the ways of degrading our bride's as mere tools for an hair." He turned his attention back the papers in front of him. He would pass down his teachings onto their sons, if they had any.
"I'm sorry for my reaction Daylen, I'm just not used to this. I never had a brother, all I have is my little sister. If my parents ever had a boy, they would have named him James." she said and sighed softly. "I'm not upset or anything Daylen, just surprised is all. This is all going to take some getting used to is all." Contessa explained and just stared at the paper in her hands, she'd have to talk to her parents about this soon. "I'll be sure to let my parents know." she said quietly as she red the paper over and over again until she got tired. Her parents were going to be just as surprised as she was, they'd probably ask questions too but they'd be extremely grateful and happy to know this. What would they do with the money? Perhaps add to their house? Make a nicer room for Carolyn as she grew up. Get her a bed of her own, and would happen to Contessa's room now that she no longer lived there? She'd have to ask her parents.
Daylen just nodded. He knew of Carolyn and that she had no brothers, he would have taken care of them anyways if she did. He read and signed more papers. This time they for the household finances. He did everything he needed for the marriage and the accounts, now it was the monthly expenses. He look up at Contessa. "You should eat, the food is getting cold." He told her softly turning back to the finances. He was adding and checking the last month's expense. It was slightly different but it was still on target. It would be changing soon but he didn't mind at all. It wasn't a money thing just helped him keep track of the house.
"Oh..right, silly me." she said and stood up. "I should go feed no name too, and then I have laundry to do after the dishes." she informed, not that he had asked. "I'll leave you to your work then, it was nice speaking with you Daylen." she said softly and hesitantly made her way out of there with her things and the paper. Walking to the kitchen, she had to warm up the milk again before being able to feed no name while she ate. Daylen was right, her food was cold now but even then she ate it all in silence while making sure to feed all the warm milk to her growing no name. "I suppose no name is your name now...it just stuck." she said to her little pet. Once she finished feeding him, she gathered all the dishes, drank her cold tea and started washing the dishes carefully one by one.
Raymon just walked into the kitchen, he just needed to get a glass of water for himself. "You know Miss Contessa, the dishes are the maids job. I don't think she'll like you taking that away from her." He told her in his sweet tone. He just took a glass and poured some water from a pitcher in the refrigerator. He took a sip before setting it on the counter. He was going through a list of household chores. He was assigning the month chores to the household staff. The nighttime butler was in charge of the night time staff, that made his job slightly easier. "Are there any pet peeves you have before I assign the household chores?" He didn't want her to get angry at a member of the staff for doing something she didn't like.
"I apologize, I'm not used to having people clean up after me. I usually helped my mother around the house you see." Contessa explained and stopped what she was doing, drying off her hands. She didn't want to upset anyone. "Pet peeves?" she repeated and thought for a moment. "Well I don't particularly like it when I have no chores to do. I don't like feeling useless." she answered. "I understand people here have their jobs sand that's fine, as long as I can at least make breakfast I will be fine." Contessa explained and raised an eyebrow, "Are their maids in charge of laundry?" she asked curiously. She wouldn't mind doing the laundry but if it was someone else's job then she'd leave it alone.
Raymon just smiled at Contessa. "I can have it so you can do the cooking and the laundry if you would like. If it will make you feel better and at home then I know Master Daylen won't mind." He told her softly. He knew Daylen wouldn't mind letting her have those chores if it helped her adjust better. He just opened the list and marked those down for Contessa. He would help her with them though. The maids did their jobs then left. "I will help you the cooking and laundry though." He told her as he continued setting the month of chores up. "Everything on the list is for the maids. What is not, is mine and the night butler's chores. The rest are Daylen's. His are the most important." He told her smiling softly.
"Thank-you Raymon, I really appreciate that." Contessa replied with a tired smile then walked over to the chair and picked up the crate. "I can only imagine how important Dayle's chores are, but he seems to take them very seriously so that's good." she commented and looked at Raymon. "I'm going to start on the laundry, then change the bed sheets, then I can possibly take a nap. Oh I also have to check the plants." she listed. There really was no need for the plants to be watered since the watering system had been installed by now, but she made it a habit to check on her garden anyway. "We should get started." she suggested and led the way back to their room where she blushed once she was inside and placed the crate on the floor, then started to remove the sheets from the bed as well as the pillow cases off the pillows.
Raymon just nodded drinking his water from time to time. He had nearly all the chores set up when Contessa left. Once they were done he placed the glass in the sink before hanging the chores in the servants quarters. He then left with the papers to deal with at the bank for Daylen.
Daylen just finish the glass of substitute blood. He had finished all the paperwork before doing his monthly inventory. He would have to restock of things in his cabinets and find a place to put all the finished inventions. Had to make more of the tonic for a vampire's craving. He could never have enough on hand, plus he wanted to see if he could make sunscreen strong enough for a vampire. Now that he had a perfect test subject. |
Tossing the sheets to the floor with the pillow cases and blanket, Contessa walked over to a closet and pulled out some clean sheets and pillow cases, as well as a clean blanket. Humming softly to herself, Contessa began to smooth out the sheets on the bed, making sure it looked perfect on the bed. Her eyes scanned the bed over and over, checking for any signs that something could be a little off. Seeing nothing wrong, She covered the pillows in their clean pillow cases and fluffed them up before setting them down on the bed. Lastly, she draped the blanket over the sheets, folding it back slightly so that it wouldn't cover the pillows. A soft and tired sigh escaped her lips as she gathered the stuff from the floor and the create then looked back at the bed. "Perfect." she said simply then left to start on the laundry.
Daylen left the door to his study open to help air out the smell from the experimental tonics. After a few minutes of drinking a tonic. He stood at an angle near the curtain. He pulled it back slightly letting the sun enter but no touch him. He folded his sleeves up to the elbow. Taking a deep breath, Daylen stuck his left forearm into the sunlight. His skin instantly felt hot. His skin in the sunlight began turning gray, slowly flakinging into ashes. He pulled his arm back, the pain was intense. He held his arm right below the elbow as the looked at the sunlight beaming into the dark study. The tonic was a failure. He gritted his teeth as his arm still stung violently from the pain. He needed to heal before trying that again.
Contessa walked right past the open study but stopped in her tracks and sniffed the air as a look of confusion fell on her face and walked backwards back in front of the open study. Sniffing again, she turned and looked at Daylen. "Is everything alright?" she asked and looked at his arm. "Oh dear, what happened Daylen? Are you okay?" she asked. It was a stupid question, he obviously wasn't okay if he was holding his arm like that. "You hurt your arm? How?" she asked. Contessa had laundry to do but she was honestly concerned about Daylen right now, the laundry could wait a few minutes.
Daylen just shook his head lightly. He was fine, well as close to fine as he could get since his arm was charcoal. "Experimenting." He simply told her. With his good arm, he crossed the recipe off the scratch. He took another tonic. He had made three as he always does when he tries inventing a new tonic. After giving it a few to start working, he took another deep breath before placing his good arm in the sunlight. However a repeat of the first tonic was the results. He removed his arm from the sun, his left arm was nearly fully healed. He held his right arm in pain. This was going to be a long and very painful course but he was determined to succeed.
"Don't push yourself Daylen, take breaks okay?" Contessa suggested and smiled weakly, "I don't like to see you hurt." she added softly. She knew however, that her words were lost in an abyss somewhere. Daylen probably wasn't going to sleep until he was successful with this new experiment of his. "W-what exactly are you trying to make?" she asked after his second tonic seemed to be a failure. It was probably something to help him out with his new found abilities, or something close to that anyway which was very interesting to imagine.
He scratched out the second recipe then waited until he was fully healed. He just drank some of the substitute blood to accelerate the healing process. "A sunscreen strong enough for vampires." He simple told her. He closed the curtain before gathering more ingredients to retry again. He had one more to try but needed to heal full first. "If I can make a success one then I could join you in the day." He knew a secret but wasn't going to tell her. That alone fueled him to work hard on the sunscreen. He wanted to join her outside and not wait for the sun to go down. Granted he was up during the day anyways, the screen would allow him to be outside with her. That if she wanted him with her, if not he could just sell it to vampires and add it to a list of things to create on a normal basis.
Contessa smiled tiredly, "You really want to join me out in the day?" she asked and wondered how long it would take to perfect this sunscreen. She was patient, she just hoped he got some sleep. Being a vampire though, he didn't even need sleep. "I'm sure you can do it Daylen, you're the smartest man I know. Just please don't over work yourself okay?" she commented sweetly. She found it very sweet that he was doing this to spend time with her during the daytime. They were only going to spend time at night perhaps if she hadn't fallen to sleep yet, and sometimes in the daytime after her chores were done, but they were small visits, the daytime ones.
Daylen just nodded softly. He did. He just looked at her. He was the smartest guy she knew? He just thought she would say her father was or Sirus. Sirus was smarter in life while Daylen was all books. "I thought you would say your father was the smartest guy you knew, or Sirus." He told her truthfully. He always found his father and Sirus the smartest men he knew, and well Raymon. He just took a deep breath and drank the last tonic. He waited a little for it to work before repeating the experiment. He placed his fully healed wrist in the sun only for it to repeat the last two test. Daylen just closed the curtain pain. He wouldn't let this discourage him, in fact it just fueled the desire to make a successful sunscreen.
Contessa smiled shyly and nodded. "Sirus was the silliest man I knew, and my father is a very wise man. You are the smartest." she explained honestly and could tell the third tonic was no success either, but she hoped it didn't didn't discourage him from continuing to try. "Don't worry, I believe in you and know you'll be successful Daylen." she said nervously. Being a wife was nice even if their relationship wasn't like her mom and dad's relationship, it would get there eventually right? She still hoped she was being the perfect wife that Daylen deserved, she would work everyday to be better. "D-do you need anything Daylen?" she asked warmly.
