Lon smiled as he chuckled a little to himself. " Yes, there is more to life than schooling and doors. It's a shame that you haven't even been outside the palace. I understand the reason why. But if you live in fear constantly well it's just not good for you. I believe that the Elders are to hard on you and Ona. It's why Ona I honestly believes feels she is a failure. Yes you do both need to think of your safety, however you both need to live as well. The elders are not wrong for want Ona and even you to learn some combat skills but every day of constant practice is not good either. Ona wont even pick up her staff now. I don't want you like that Lady Agnes. I want you happy and carefree. I'm surprised after seeing Marius today that he hasn't put the elders in their place over Ona. You both are lovely and need to be kids not just prim and proper rulers to be. You can't rule a place if you have never seen it. How will you know what life is like for you people? How will you know what they love and what needs to change. You have to be out among the people and places to be able to make the best choices for a place." Lon said as he smiled at her. "Now come on lets eat and enjoy the stars." He said as he picked up one of the sandwiches and stated to eat.
Agnes listened to Lon, he was right. It wasn't good to stay inside all day but the elders were very strict and didn't like to make exceptions. She didn't think so anyway, she was afraid of being yelled at like Ona was. "The elders are scary.." she said and frowned. "I don't want to be yelled at like they yelled at Ona." she explained. Agnes smiled softly at what Lon said, he really was a kind man. "I hope the elders listen to you mister." she said and took a few bites of her sandwich. It was really good! Looking at the jelly puffs, she looked at the cute faces and felt bad about having to eat it, but when she did she realized it was very sweet and delicious.
Lon smiled softly as he laughed. " You can call me Lon or Cy. Or if you like you can make up a nickname for me. I know my name isn't the most creative to say and not easy to remember for some. So if you want to give me a nickname that's fine by me. You don't have to call me mister. I know your being polite however we are friends. And your the only one allowed to use my name other than Ona of course." He said as he laughed softly thinking about Ona. He looked down at the food hearing what she said. " Yes the Elders can be overbearing. I just didn't realize how bad they where. For that I'm sorry. I thought that Ona was just afraid of her future responsibility when I found her crying one day. I really didn't think the Elders where as bad as I saw them today. The Elders are the closet things either of you have to parents. I thought is was that kind of relationship and that's why Ona was so unhappy. I didn't realize that Little Ona had been telling me the truth the entire time. I'm sorry to you both I would have steeped in and stopped all of this. I'm one of the few besides maybe Marius with skills that would allow you both to go where you want without fear of attack. It's funny Agnes you and Ona are the same age. However you are both complicate opposites. You are a Queen to yet is was Ona they chose to train ans the primary Queen to be. You are kind and gentle and have the innocence of a small child. While Ona acts like a grown women more than twice her age. She has wisdom past her years and acts like a proper lady. She has a demanding presence and seems to think a head. It's rare for her to be herself or I guess free and happy. It's hard to see Ona as a ten year old kid. And maybe that's all our faults. Ona never asked to be the primary Queen just like you didn't. I guess because Ona didn't cry and took care of you they felt she was the strongest one. Don't get me wrong you are both strong and beautiful little girls. But Ona isn't like you. She acts like a adult and is very diplomatic in her answers and solutions. Where you are enjoying this Ona would be investigating each and every flower telling me what they are and what they an be made into. I don't understand why they have chosen Ona to bare the burden for you both. " He said as he sighed and looked to Agnes.
"However I think I already know the answer why. Ona has a big heart and as cold or short as she maybe at times, she has a weakness in her heart for helping others. I think your the reason Ona made the Elders choose her. I think she wanted you to be happy and to have as close to a normal childhood as you could here. I think she loves you that much she put her own self aside to think of you. Ona knew one of you had to take responsibility but I don't believe she really understood what that choice would fully mean until now. We should finish up soon. I need to get you back inside and tucked into bed at a reasonable hour. I don't want to worry Eofe. I don't want her smacking me. I have to be responsible." He said as he smiled fondly at her. The winds blew and howled as the newly created monster roamed freely. It tested out it's new powers reviling in them and soon finding great joy of the human form given to him. He found that he could have so much more fun in his copied form. As he went he cursed people with dark and strong dream magic. He used black roses that he made with his dark dream magic to infect people with a sleeping curse. He drained their energy feeding of their dark nightmares growing more and more powerful. When he had drained them of all he could he left them to rot as they started to turn into black crystals. He laughed as he went from person to person. No one knowing what was really going on. Everyone oblivious to him and his beloved black roses until it was to late. |
Agnes listened to Lon as he continued to speak. The elders were like the parents to both girls but she didn't very much like that they were so strict on them. It didn't seem fair, were all parents strict like that? "Lon or Cy..." she repeated. A nickname? What nickname could she give him? Not mister, that wasn't something he liked. Maybe she could call him...hmm she wasn't sure really. Her brain couldn't think very well right now since it was getting late. She continued to eat and drink the juice happily as she listened to him. What stuck with her was something he said, Don't get me wrong you are both strong and beautiful little girls. But Ona isn't like you. She acts like a adult... So then did he want her to be like Ona too? Maybe she was supposed to be grown up like Ona, what sort of queen could she be if all she did was cry all the time and run around? She was sure the elders would yell at her for behaving so childishly. "I understand." she said softly and looked up at the stars.
Lon turned as he heard Agnes. " You understand me? Are you sure? " He said wondering what she meant by it. She was very young and sometimes children didn't always understand the full meaning of things. " I don't want you thinking I'm putting you down or using Ona as a example as what you should be. You two are different people and that's what makes you each so special. I don't want you to change because your perfect just the way you are. " He said meaning it as he smiled at her. " It just hit me how different both you and Ona are is all. Ona acts like she is 20 but being around you I can see how different you two are. This is how Ona should be acting and enjoying herself. Just as I hope to keep you. "
Agnes shook her head and smiled at him. "I understand." she repeated. So he didn't want her to change? But it didn't seem fair that Ona held all the responsibilities while she herself just ran around and had fun. A princess was supposed to behave the way Ona was. That's what the elders always said anyway. They always said that a princess needed to be taken seriously and no one would take them seriously if they didn't change their attitude. However, she didn't think she should tell this to Lon, she didn't want the elders to get upset with her for talking too much. She also didn't want the elders getting mad at him for talking to her so much or something. The thought of Lon getting in trouble because of her made her frown. Agnes blinked and looked at him, "I am?" she asked and managed to smile again. "I promise not to change." she answered.
Lon smiled as he went back to finishing his meal. He sat there and peered up at the sky enjoying the beautiful stars. He looked to the lake as he smiled seeing the refection of the stars on it. " The universe is really a mystery. On clear nights like this it looks like you could just walk out on the lake and play in the stars. It's so beautiful here. I can see why the people of old chose to keep it this way. You know at one time only elves had power here. At one time humans where looked on as invaders and unwanted here. However thanks to your ancestors now everyone can call this beautiful planet home. " He said as he smiled laying back on the blanket staring up at the stars. " So what shapes do you see?" He asked wondering what consolation she knew."
When Agnes finished her food, she lay down on the blanket and looked up at the millions of stars. "Playing with that stars, that sounds like a lot of fun." she whispered but knew it was impossible. She turned to look at Lon, "Really?" she asked and smiled, "Well I'm glad that everyone can be together now without hating each other. I will never understand why people would hate each other. It solves nothing, it only makes things worse." Agnes explained and pointed at the stars. "I see a spoon, or maybe it is a basket. Or a box with an open lid?" she said as she pointed to the 'Big Dipper' constellation.
Lon smiled as he heard what Agnes said. He followed her gaze as he smiled seeing the Big Dipper. " Ah I see it!" He said as he smiled gazing at it. " I think your right on all accounts. I see your wise past your years as well." He said as he tried to find another consolation for them to look at. " Oh look it's a belt I believe that is Orians belt there." He said as he pointed the formation of stars out. It had been a long time since he had looked at the stars like this. He wasn't really sure of any of the star formation anymore. However tonight he really didn't care about the formations. He was just happy to see the stars and be able to make Agnes happy at lest for a little while.
Agnes looked over at where Lon was pointing and gasped, "Oh I see it!" she said and traced the constellation with her fingertip. "The shapes are so pretty, but they are only pretty because the stars create the shapes." Agnes commented and looked at the star filled sky and pointed to another constellation. "Oh look! A snake! It's so big!" she said, surprised to see the very long snake in the sky. "I wonder how many shapes the stars make." Agnes whispered softly, as if she was afraid of waking anyone or anything.
"I do not know that answer. I would assume as many as you can image and then some." Lon said as he stared up at the stars with her. "Look there is the tree of Cypress." He said pointing out the the formation of stars that looked like the great tree he slept in for so long. He stared up at it as memories flooded his mind. So many memories for short periods of time he was awake and free for the tree. He thought for a while before speaking his eyes still on the tree he saw in the starts. " The tree of Cypress is part of myth now. But it's real just like the stories people have turned into myth and legend of our past. The land here has always been full of magic or a mysterious energy that some can use in different ways. " He said softly to her.
" It's said that after the great battle with the Evil King your ancestors awoken the land's magic. The land felt the hearts, or emotions of the people and came to life repairing it's self. From that day forward the land's magic stayed awake instead of hiding it's self deep in the planets core. Every living person since that day has been able to use the magic or energy from the land even humans. Now after so many generations there are no humans and elves we are all one race. Before only Elves could use the magic or energy from the land. But even then it was rare to have one skilled in doing so. " He said as he smiled then closed his eyes thinking about the next part. " As time went on a small male child was born. On his birth he was taken to the forgotten city where The Oracke Spirit Opal appeared. She declared that the small male child was the land's magic in physical form. She gave the small baby a lovely green jewel that Princess Hope herself had become upon her death. The gem was full of a strong mysterious power. It's said as soon as the gem touched the new born babies skin a bright green light filled the area and spread out through the land. When it faded a grown man with strange markings appeared where the new born baby had been. A great power could be felt from him as a large tree formed around him. The Oracle Spirit Opal explained that the baby was now The Guardian spirit Cypress. Unto him would be the power and eternal keep of the land. The two would be tied for eternity. It's said that Cypress spent many years in deep sleeps. The tree where he sleeps is hidden where none but the pure or heart can find. In the old stories before hidden from darkness the tree was in the middle of the forgotten city. Beautiful White Lillys grew around it with rainbow flowers. A lovely lake is said to surround the small island. The old stories say that Cypress can bring anything to life with a simple touch. They say that he can make plants lush and beautiful with just a thought. And that if he can image something the rocks will mold to it. However the only people who have ever seen The Great Spirit Cypress are the royal family. It's said that they hide him among themselves when he woke and treated him like on of their own heirs. It's said that Cypress guards the royal family and keeps his eternal watch over them and the land. " He said as he smiled thinking about his beloved tree. The Oracle spirit Opal appeared before the people of the new kingdom and declared that on this day was given to them and to their generations to come, a new Guardian to protect the people and the land from the evils that would dare to destroy it once again. The Oracle spirit Opal summoned the lovely green jewel that Princess Hope herself had become upon her death. The gem was full of a strong mysterious power. As the gem floated towards the young Lon life filled the overgrown city. The Oracle spirit Opal explained that the events that had happen hand changed the land and future as they had once known it. The land had awoken it's own magic and had heard the cry of it's people and took form as the small baby that they saw. The baby would be known as the Guardian spirit Cypress. Unto him would be the power and eternal keep of the land. The two would be tied for eternity. |
Agnes looked up at tree like formation up in the stars. "That is very pretty." she whispered and listened to the story that he was telling her. Agnes looked at him when he finished his story, "So if i want to look for the tree can I find it?" she asked curiously. "Cypress sounds like a very nice person. I wonder what he is doing right now. Maybe he is sleeping, I am sure he must be very tired after taking care of the royal family and over the entire land. I mean, it sounds like a lot of work." she said and thought for a moment as she looked up at the tree in the stars. "I wonder if we could somehow help him Lon." she said quietly with a smile on her small face.
Leon was surprised hearing what sweet little Agnes said. He couldn't help but smile hearing what she had said. " I think you already have princess. And I'm sure you could find the tree. I think he is just happy knowing you are safe and happy. I think maybe tomorrow I"ll have a talk with the elders and see if I can get you and Ona some freedom. Yes there is evil in the world and yes you are Queens to be. But you are children and people. You need to have some freedom. You didn't get a choice in the matter of what fate threw at you. As people and as your friends and caregivers we should all understand that. I think that is what Ona has always been getting at. How are you two suppose to learn to use your power if we keep forcing high expectations on you. You might learn to use your powers better if we all relax and let you have some fun. "
Agnes smiled hearing this. Maybe someday she and Lon could go looking for the tree and maybe they could even meet Cypress. That's when something in her head clicked. "What a minute..." she said as her eyes widened and she looked to Lon. "You said I could call you Cy...!" she gasped. He surely wasn't the legendary Cypress was he? No way, he was just a legend...was he actually real and sitting right here with her?! She didn't know how to tell him what she was thinking, she didn't want him to think she was weird. "Oh w-well yes I am sure the elders will listen to you, I just hope you do not get yelled at. The elders like to yell a lot, I do not understand why. Maybe they are mad I never invite them to my tea parties." Agnes said quietly.
Leon just smiled at her as he laughed softly. " Come now little Princess let me worry about the elders. You just worry about having some fun. Besides we should head back in now sadly. I don't want you out here to late. " He said as he got up and started putting things away back in the basket. " I promise if you want to come back here we will again. " He said softly to her not wanting her to worry about not coming back.
Lady slowly woke as she open her eyes. The last thing she remembered was being outside. She remembered a strange girl. She slowly sat up as she held her side. Pain seemed to radiate from her side as she held her breath not remembering getting hurt. She figured that Marcus must have found her and brought her to her room. She sighed wondering what had happen. However she was sure Marcus was going to have some words for her she was sure. |
Marcus smiled when he saw that Lady had finally woken, "I see you have woken up my lady. I was rather worried about you. H-how are you feeling? Would you like me to bring you anything?" he asked and frowned. "My lady you really should be resting. You have been through a lot and from what I saw you'll be in pain for a few days." Marcus informed. He wasn't sure if he should tell her everything, he didn't think it would be smart to tell her since shed only hate herself even more.
Agnes looked at Lon and nodded, "Very well then but we must do this again sometime and if I have another tea party consider yourself invited." she said with a smile. It was getting pretty late out and the elders wouldn't be too happy to know that she was gone for so long. "Maybe you can teach me more about plants." she suggested happily. |
