Mauro noticed her change and frowned, wondering what he had said. Then it occurred to him, she and Nunzio didn't exactly get along and there was no sign of it ever changing. "Sorry, I shouldn't have brought him up. I know the two of you don't exactly get along and trust me it's understandable. I mean if anyone can put up with him and honestly get along with him they deserve an award of sorts." Mauro said and laughed softly.

"Oh... no... you're okay... it's not really that we don't get along... well I guess that's part of it... I don't like how he treats you... but that's not really what's bothering me either." Amai frowned before looking at her leg wondering if he would even believe her.

Mauro narrowed his eyes, "Did he do this to you!?" Mauro asked seriously. "And you better not lie to me Amai. If he did this you need to tell me." Mauro explained and crossed his arms across his chest. If Nunzio did this to her, Mauro was going to break that man's jaw.

Amai started to quietly cry and nodded a little at this not wanting to lie to him but also didn't want him to get hurt "h-he said.... it was payback.... for breaking up your fight before." she whispered before looking at Mauro with tears in her eyes "I-I'm scared he'll hurt one, or both of us again though... me for telling you and you for trying to start a fight." she whimpered a bit

Despite being angry, he couldn't go after Nunzio. Not yet anyway. Mauro instead sighed and gently wiped away her tears. "Hey now, don't cry Amai. I'm not going to let Nunzio hurt you again. I'll probably go hurt him later but for now I'm going to do my best to take care of you okay?" Mauro explained with a warm smile. "You don't worry about him, just worry about getting better." he said while smoothing out her hair.

"B-but I don't want you to get hurt" Amai whimpered a bit really not wanting Mauro to hurt, she didn't want either of them to hurt but she would rather get hurt then let him be hurt.

"I know, but I can't just let Nunzio push you around like that. I'm glad you didn't crack your head open." Mauro said and shuddered at the thought. She would have been dead on the spot if she did. Nunzio was lucky to have not killed her. "I won't break his jaw then but I'll talk to him about it in a calm manner." Mauro informed. If she didn't want them getting hurt then he would make sure no one got hurt but Nunzio needed to stop picking on Amai. She wasn't doing anything wrong to deserve what he did to her.

"I... I know.... it... kinda makes me wonder if he was trying to kill me or something" Amai frowned quietly feeling rather sick at the though

"Woah, hey now don't go thinking that. My brother is a bad guy and may not like you but I don't think he'd ever kill anyone." Mauro commented. "He's not stupid. Besides, if he wanted to kill you I don't think he'd need to push you down the stairs." Mauro added with a shrug of his shoulders.

"Well he certainly didn't do it by accident or think I would end up just a little hurt, Everyone in the house knows I have fragile bones, I've accidentally sprained my own foot before just by dropping a book on it... and the book wasn't that heavy" Amai pointed out with a frown.

"I never said that this was an accident Amai. My brother hates you and obviously wanted to hurt you to get his point across and I think he did a great job at it the bastard." Mauro muttered. "I think you should leave him alone so that he doesn't hurt you anymore. I know Marzia said she wants you to make sure he and I don't fight but I'd rather fight him than have him hurt you." he explained honestly.
