[Time lapse a few hours later... about 9:30 pm.]

After eating dinner, I made a plate for Juri and left it in the fridge for her; she should have been home any minute after working a double. I stretched up my arms and quickly finished cleaning the dishes. The fried chicken breast, i hoped Kane liked. It was still hot but i shrugged it off and looked to him.
"I'm gonna get ready for bed." I hoped to learn more of this creature named Noah, who was waiting impatiently on the roof. I hoped he wouldnt follow me upstairs, that he'd sleep alone; its be harder for me to slip away from him if we were together tonight.

He looked up from the table where he sat mulling over somethings that he'd remembered he was supposed to do for school and smiled.
"Alright. Thank you for supper Risa, it was good, REALLY good if you compare it to Juri's stuff." He moved over to her and hugged her before returning to his...homework...GAH! The word hardly made it past his mouth before he choked on it.
"I'll be up for a little while longer, I'll probably have to open the door for Juri when she gets home, knowing Jeff, he'll have loaded her down with leftover food." He chuckled.
"I swear, sometimes I don't know if he really thinks we're starving or what."

I smiled, satisfied knowing I made an influence on him after my long talk about how important an education was. Already had finished my homework on Friday, i nodded to him and kissed his cheek and headed upstairs for bed... or so he thought.
In the room, I turned out the light, kept my day clothes on, the tank and shorts and flew out the window to join the awaiting Noah in the sky.
"Took yah long enough... nice get up." He said, stroking his eyes up and down my body. I sent him a glare and flew ahead.
"Whatever, lets go. I just wanna get home and go to sleep, I have school tomorrow."
He quirked an eyebrow.
"School? I remember those days." he chuckled. I sent him a look.
"How old are you? You look the same age as me."
"Im 21."
My eyes widened.
"And how long have you been this way...?"
He thought for a moment, the hair running into his face as we flew on through the hazy, muggy and humid sky.
"Hm about 6 months ago I suppose..."
I frowned; the professor kept him a secret for a while, I was about to respond when he added:
"...but i only recently awakened."
I nodded.
"Oh I see..."

He laughed.

It was easy enough...well for the most part, and Kane whizzed through the Math area of the problems with little or no problem..but Geography..that was a completely different matter.
He sighed, at long last and decided to risk waking Risa to get the answer right...she did want him to start doing better right?
He headed upstairs and poked his head inside...Risa had said it was his room after all...if that wasn't an invitation he didn't know what was.
"Risa I can't seem to figure out--" He stopped...the window was left there, swinging in the late night breeze, the curtain fluttering along the walls like a neglected ghost.
"Risa?" He hurried to the window just in time to see her fade over the horizion...but....but what was that thing in the sky beside her?
"What the--" He wasn't about to stand there wondering, he hurried downstairs grabbing his tank from the back of the chair and headed out, jerking on a light pair of running shoes.
He stepped outside and jerked around when Juri's voice met him at the end of the driveway.
"Kane?"
"Sorry Juri, no time, something's wrong, I think it's got something to do with Risa!" He hopped over the fence and raced back down into the lower part of town.
Juri's hand went to her mouth remembering Risa's nighttime agenda.
"Oh no."

He continued on:
Started back in September... read a paper asking for help, payment promised, of course, so I went. Little did I know that flyer was for me, and the professor promised id love the outcome of the experiment.6 months later and I awoke in a tank of water, like this..." he looked at his clawed hands and closed his eyes, and covered his face.
"A monster... I was forced to leave my family... I would never wanted them to see me this way... so they figured I either ran away or just vanished. Its an 'unsolved mystery'" He sighed, eyes full of sadness. Then he looked over at me.
"Then the professor told me of a beautiful winged girl and I got excited to meet you, then I found out you were born that way, and I knew you could never be with me."
I looked away.
"Noah, I love Kane, the red haired boy im always with--" He cut me off, flying onfront of me.
"BUT RISA its not the same! We... belong together..." I looked into his eyes; he was so real for a moment and I shook my head and continued flying, past him.
"C'mon."

Kane was a mile, maybe two behind them, but though his lungs burned, he wasn't about to give up....his pace slowed however when he saw where he was going.
"Risa....Risa...you promised." He whispered before running on.

We flew on together, in silence, not knowing Kane was following behind. We landed in the window from last night and I sighed, looking to Noah, who seemed so quiet and disappointed. The room was lit with candles, and rose petals where thrown about the room. The bed was made and a bottle of champagne and 2 glasses sat on a table in the center of the room.
My eyes widened, as I looked around, my heart racing.
"Noah, was all this...for me?" I was in shock; not even Kane could think of something like this. He plopped down on the bed and nodded, bringing his wings around himself.
"Yes... but I will not force you to stay. Ive just been alone for the past few weeks...and...I had hoped... if not lovers... friends?" he looked up at me, his eyes flickered with the light of the candles in the room. I smiled and walked to his side and took his hand, which was awfully large and clawed.
"Noah, of course ill be friends with you. But I need to do that thing for the professor then get home, before Kane goes to bed. Maybe another time?" I felt bad about turning him down, but I had to get home asap. He nodded, smiling sadly at me. he stood.
"Come. I will take you to the x-ray room, where he wants to meet you tonight."

Kane growled low in his throat as he crouched beneath the chain link fence again.
"This sucks....Risa what possessed you to come here again?" He sneered at the winged figure that lit beside her, clumsy and ragged as it was...it...it still looked like Risa...a little anyway..
"Was it....was it for him that you came?" He said quietly.
"Was all that before...just a lie?"

[okay, goodnight. and oh noes, Kane is gonna hate Risa T-T]

He led me down the long, dark hallway and into the room where the professor was at his table doing calculations. he turned around and smiled though is large magnifying glasses.
"Ahh Risa my girl, Im glad you could make it. please, please, make yourself at home." He pointed to the table waiting for me.
"For the x-ray, I need you to remove your clothing." I blushed and looked to Noah, who was perched on a wooden staff stuck in the wall next to the high ceiling. I could only see an outline of his wings and his glowing eyes.
"I...dont want to be naked infront of Noah." I said to the professor. he grunted, and looked up.
"NOAH! Gaurd the door on the outside of the gate, will you? Make sure youre not seen." He screeched and flew down and out the room, shutting the door behind him.

Kane flopped down into the damp grass. His body felt heavy and his mind numb. He sat there for what seemed like ages wondering what he should do.
He should go in after her....but no, this was her choice, it was her desire to be made into a lab rat again, why should he interfere?

She has her reasons for coming back here.
"And I'm sure that they include that mess of a being."

Noah flew outside and sat atop of the gate's pillars and crouched down, watching if anything would approach. He hated doing this... this is why the professor had watch dogs. He yawned wide and kept his lazy eyes out over the horizon for any movement, which never happened.

Inside, I undressed and laid on the table. I stayed still as the machine moved me inside the x-ray machine.
"How long will this take?"
"About a half hour than id like to take some saliva samples, and you can leave. I wont need you for a while after that."He hadnt taken his eyes from his computer screen as he took x-rays of my body.
I sighed and closed my eyes and rested my body and wings.

((Yes, just missules-ing Mene and Rping, and thinking of way too much crap right about now.....*.* Had too much sugar I think...Note to self: Butterfingers are not good for me......sad thing was....I ate one about 12 and it's only NOW starting to kick in.

Kane peeked out from behind a tree trunk at the front gate....and the creature that stood watch there.
"Nunuh...." He said softly.
"Nert gunna happen." But how to get in? Another stunt like before with the barbed wire and he was sure to get caught...he looked despondently at a rock by his foot and thought twice about throwing it....sure it worked in the movies...but this wasn't a movie now was it? He sighed and slupmed to the ground as loudly as he dared.
"This sucks..." His hand ran over his face roughly.
"About the only way I'm getting in there now is to go ahead and GET caught....but that's probably not going to be good for my health.." He looked over his shoulder again and eyed the creature's arms and legs.
"And he'd probably make about two of me.." He stood again, he stuffed his hands into his pockets and brought out his gloves...why not? Wasn't like he was coming up with anything better sitting there...he headed a little ways down the hill and started huffing like he'd been running for a while...the headed back to the house.

Noah caught movement at the bottom of the hill but thought nothing of it, and yawned again, the moon behind him. He stretched his wings up and groaned.

After the x-rays and my saliva samples, I redressed quickly and bowed to the professor.
"Okay, well I hope thats all you need for a while. Good bye for a while.
"See you later Risa, thanks. Take care of yourself, and Kane."
I nodded and sprinted out of the room, down the hallway and into Noahs room and jumped out the open window and flew to the gate and ran a hand over Noah's hair as I flew over him.
"Goodbye for now Noah..." He reached for my hand but missed and he flew after me after I made some distance between us. I didnt know he was following me.

No I ate the ONE (1) Butterfinger about twelve (12) today, about lunch time XDDD))

"FRICK!" By the time that Kane had made it up the hill and to the front gate, the creature was no longer in sight...so much for that brilliant plan....well maybe...maybe he was just out stretching his wings...like Risa did....He pushed gently on the gate and found it unlocked....he stepped through and thought it a bit odd....but shook his head and headed on in...not bothering with the door and heading straight for the tree again. He landed inside the same musty room a few moments later with a weary shake of his head wondering why this 'professor' hadn't locked his windows.
It was almost like he'd never left, Kane headed back that dark hallway, figuring that if Risa was anywhere she'd be in the experimentation room where the accomodations were rated five stars.....not.
He slid along the wall not wanting to come face to face with another shotgun, and peeked inside.
"I thought I warned you about Risa?" He said spotting the professor hunched over his work like a hermit.
"And what the hell is that thing outside!"

[I made him and her go home, because I thought Kane was heading home, and was gonna make it look like he was out running. But I can go with him going inside the mansion and Noah can come back and they can have their encounter then. And I guess he didnt realize the candle lit rose petal littered room of Noahs....to make Risa's visit even MORE suspicious XD]

I landed in the tree outside Kanes window and entered cautiously, but found the room emtpy when I looked carefully. I sighed with relief and slipped into my pajamas and jumped into the cool, waiting bed, figuring Kane was asleep on the couch downstairs. I unlocked the door then plopped back in bed, yawning and falling asleep in no time.
Noah landed on the window sill but when he saw I was asleep, he only smiled, defeated and flew back to the mansion.

The professor jumped, startled at the voice that burst in his room and he dropped his petri dish, shattering it on the floor. He grunted, that was his only sample of Risa's saliva. He put his glasses on the desk and stretched up his arms.
"What warning? I didnt not steal her, she came willingly. Her interest in Noah made her keep coming back." He grinned, looking to the boy.

Kane shrugged, his heart calming a little seeing that there were no firearms around.

"WHAT!?" He repulsed back a little, feeling himself grow pale.
"You mean that...that THING has a name? YOU named it NOAH!?"

He felt his head spin, and his world was turned upside down.
"Okay...just what the hell IS he? He looks like Risa...but he's not....he's...creepy...and unnnatural." He stopped and glared.
"And before you say anything about Risa, remember, she was born that way...somehow I don't get the feeling that Noah's the same."

"That thing is one of my expierements and I did not name him. That was his name when he enrolled to be my expierement."

"He is spliced with the genes of a bat. He is half human half bat and took 6 months for his DNA to join with the bats... and he is my top expierement. The first human to survive the test. He is wonderful, and has alot of interest in Risa since he awakened. I sent him to ask her if she would come to me willingly to give more blood and she agreed." He paced back and fourth as he told this story to the terrified Kane.
"Noah cut the ties to his family because he can never go back to the way he was. He... does not JUST have wings. His has alot of deformities I hope to change with the next specimen I create."

Kane chuckled a nervouse laugh.
"He...enrolled....what moron would even think about something like that? I mean come on, being..." He stopped and looked over...
"I don't count!" He started pacing, a nervous habit, but when you felt like your brain was going to overload on information, it helped.
"You mean you actually tested gene splicing on a HUMAN?...there's probably so many laws being broken right now...I don't even want to think about it, Human rights, any of that..." He stopped and turned to face the Professor.
"What I do want to know is why do you need Risa? What does she have to do with this now? You have the DNA from Noah, why not just work with that? Surely the original strain doesn't need to come into play anymore, take what you have, compare the strands and boom! you have the gene that causes the problems."

[LOL I dun care *opens wide* Im thinking of making a myspace just for fans of my artwork, and to help get commissions. Im trying to come up with a name, with my name in it. Im thinking Amber Studios, or Amber's Art House. Im not so sure though. It needs to be catchy and Ill work on a logo for it.]

He laughed.
"The boy wanted more in his life, and thats what he got. He knew full well it was risky, and in the end, hes got a load of money, more than he's ever dreamed of. He's the one that signed all the legal documents and boom. He was mine. Its his choice that he keeps staying here, I dont mind him living here, this place is big enough to house 10 more spliced humans."
He let out a long sigh and walked up to a covered cage and pulled off the cover to reveal a sleeping, rather large, crow. He ran his fingers over the metal bars, closing his eyes.
"Risa is special. She is perfect. She has no animal traits except her wings. I'm trying to make a human to be just like her though expierementation, but so far I only had Noah to test it on. The test succeeded, but not as I had hoped, because he has animal traits, and such. By comparing her DNA with Noahs, i know what needs to be done in the next test, and I just know it will work."
"Are you talking about me again?" Noah leaned in the doorway, his hair miffed from the wind and his arms crossed. He grinned to Kane and waved.
"You here to make yourdself more presentable for the girl of my dreams? Dont bother... I will win her as soon as possible."

"Yeah, good luck finding that next retard for your twisted games."
Kane whirled as 'Noah' stepped through the doorway and leaned in that cocky way that Kane had claimed for his own.
"Girl of your dreams?" He scoffed, feeling his blood boil.
"Yeah, so much for that pal, you'd have to get rid of that wiry mess you call hair before you get a second glance from MY Risa."

"I had a long night with her, so beat it, alright. Im pretty tired, even though I sleep during the day, im gonna go take a nap. If he causes a ruckus professor, just ring the bell, or holler. Ill hear you." He twitched his large ears and looked down at Kane (he is about 1 ft taller than Kane)

"Yeah, and now look, boy what a name you have now...at least I can be around people who know me for the things I've done, you hide in the shadows like a stalker." He turned from looking at Noah and shook his head.

"Science is for the betterment of Humanity, like medicine and energy, those things, not for vanity! That's all this is, Humans are envious, horrid creatures that can only want the beauty that they see for their own...and will try to obtain it by any means."
.....Blame it on his hair...that's what caused him to clench his fists and grind his teeth into each other.
"Oh, and you think you can!?" He cried wrenching Noah around and slamming his right fist into his jaw. The shock went up his arm and into his chest, but Kane didn't let it bother him, he whirled back and into his fighting stance, eyes glaring out like tiny fires.
"Angel she is yes, but what makes you think a Demon from Hell has a better chance than a Human?"

"I dont hide in the shadows, like a stalker, Kane. I... dont want anyone to be frightened by me.. plus, I hide, just like Risa does, so dont even go there. Oh, and Im a freak? Ill relay that information to Risa the next time I see her, to let you know what you really think of the unique."
The professor turned and looked to him.
"Think about it. If I could mutate humans into humans with wings, it would save the earth of the gas expenses used for automobiles, and people would be more fit, as they would be using energy to fly and such. this is for the betterment of humanity! The war over the oil and gas prices are killing people... if the poor would like to live in the civilization where a car is not needed, it is their choice."
Noah heard him yell and went to reply when he was slammed in the face. He let Kane have his glory then brought his hand up to his chin and cracked it back into place, and smiled.
"Ohh what a feisty attitude you have. Did I touch a nerve? I know I can be with Risa, I have the guts to make the moves with her, plus the professor assured me of a stable life for our child, as the future will accept creatures like us. Our child will be beautiful. YOU, as a human, have no chance because she is afraid to be with you completely, afraid of what her child will turn out like, and you can never pleasure her like I can." he licked his lips, spreading his legs apart and bring up his huge claws, readying for an attack.
The professor sighed.
"Boys, if youre gonna fight about the girl, please do it outside?"
Noah grinned.
"Did you see my bedroom? I was ready for her tonight, unlike you. You and her have been together for months and you have YET to make a move on her. Loser. She keeps feeling rejected, and unwanted because of your selfish and cowardly attitude towards her." He sprinted out of the room, and yelled back:
"Ill meet you in the front yard!" He entered his room at the end of the hall and flew out the window and sat in the yard, waiting for him.

"Don't start with me, Risa isn't the same as you! She was BORN that way, you were MADE, there is a difference." He turned to the Professor, eyes blazing.
"How stupid, do you think that that will end wars? End poverty? What an idealistc fool you are. This will only further conflict, what about the people who don't WANT to change, how will they view these new creatures, they will see them as monsters and kill them. Then more war will come, and there will be no peace. This isn't right, you know it and I know it. We should leave Nature to her course, and love those she blesses and those she does not, not try to steal another's birthright!"
Kane glared.
"You touched more than a nerve, pal." He growled.
"The future does not belong to you, it belongs to those who work, those who build with their own hands, and those who love." He all but leapt at Noah when he talked about him and Risa having a child, but he missed as the bat-like creature flitted outside. Kane turned and growled.
"Don't blame me if I kill him Doc, he's asking for it, I didn't get a shotgun barrel in my face for nothing you know...."

Outside Kane stomped across the yard, cracking his kuckles as he went.
"Alright Batman! Let's see how you fare against a 'HUMAN' who seem to be so beneath you."
