Theodore watched the bird a moment, looking up as the messenger entered and if he had feathers like Aidan did, they'd probably have ruffled up at the information. He did NOT want to go to that breakfast, looking at Aidan with a pout. "I'm not going." He huffed, stubbornly, pulling his hair back as he found a ribbon.

"I can't get you out of the dungeon this time," Aidan commented. "I think you should. I'll get my...breakfast," he sighed, rising to leave with his wings stretching out.
Danielle entered the room. "I've brought you clothing, Theodore." |
Theodore frowned and sighed out, nodding a little. He'd go he supposed, watching Aidan leave to get his own breakfast.
His gaze flickered up when Danielle came in, and then looked down a moment. He was afraid to look her in the eyes, knowing she'd see the change and what if she connected two and two together? He didn't know what she'd been told yet. "Ah... Thank you" He said softly, rubbing the back of his neck a bit. |
Danielle placed the clothing down beside him and smiled. "Looks like you're better now?" She patted him, glad to see the bandages off. "It's unfortunate my brother just left you alone like that. But I'm glad to see you safe."
She left to do her chores. Aidan had traveled only a short distance before he found breakfast, finding it easy to hunt down rodents. |
Theodore felt ill when she mentioned his good health and Aidan's departure at the same time. He rubbed his burning tears away after she left, changing into the clothes she'd provided him with a sigh. He didn't really have it in him to cause drama over going to some breakfast, he was just trying to convince himself that it wasn't going to be so bad.

Tobias waited outside of Theodore's room, fixing the cuffs to his shirt and jacket. He gestured for the rest of the mages to go on ahead to the dining hall. They looked questioning towards Aidan's room before they went along their way.
His stomach rumbled, but he waited patiently. |
Theodore fixed his hair back a little better, sighing out deeply. He was nervous, his temper was so quick lately and he didn't have good control over his power--the last thing he needed was getting mad at the prince and losing it.
He stepped out, a little surprised to find Tobias waiting for him there, smiling a bit. "Good morning." He replied softly as he waited for Tobias to lead the way. |
Tobias smiled in return. "Good morning." He led the way, getting a little more used to the boy and his eyes.
"I don't mean to be rude, but after what happened last time, I'd suggest you don't say anything to His Majesty unless spoken to." Tobias fixed the annoying cuff again. "I'll gladly help you out though. But I'm sure the experience wasn't a pleasant one." They entered the dining hall, the room vast with a long table in the center. Seated was Aviar, sipping juice as he spoke to Arturo. |
Theodore rubbed the back of his neck as Tobias said that, walking alongside him. "I'll be good." He replied softly before they entered the dining hall. He glanced briefly at Aviar, though he watched Tobias for what to do and where to go. He had never had quite the.. honor of being invited to a breakfast with the Crown Prince, but he didn't want to mess up this time--he felt it would disappoint Aidan if he got himself locked up once again.

Tobias pulled a chair out, gesturing to it as where Theodore should sit. He took his seat beside him.
Aviar paid little mind at the newcomers. With everyone present, except for the "runaway" Aidan, he signaled for breakfast to be served. The plates were brought out, course after course. Tobias ate quickly, entertaining his fellow mages with some conversation. He invited Theodore into some of them by explaining to him some of the festivities that were going to entertain Caer Elise soon. High above at one of the windows, Aidan sat. His belly was full with a hapless rodent. |
The boy sat down silently, even eating quietly. He didn't let the recent events ruin his appetite--he needed his strength, he knew he did.
When Tobias invited him into conversation, he said little, though he did begin to get more comfortable with the situation as it progressed, enjoying hearing about the upcoming festivities, though he wasn't sure if they'd be anything to really look forward to. He supposed he'd find out. |
Arturo boldly spoke up to the Prince about a topic everyone else was avoiding. Perhaps he was hit upon the head too hard...
"So I hear people speaking of Princess Nybari and future plans with you?" The table grew silent. Aidan ruffled his feathers in interest, tilting forward some as if to listen more intently. His human characteristics had not faded yet. Aviar drank. He was not fond of the topic. "They are just rumors," he said in a tone that failed to quell their curiosity. The bards entered to play their instruments. Tobias finished his meal and watched, leaning toward Theodore to inform him of the names of each of the foreign looking objects. |
Theodore blinked as he glanced at the prince on the matter. He kept his mouth shut, pushing his food on his plate a bit before he decided to leave it be. He was full anyway, his little stomach only holding so much. He wasn't used to multiple course meals!
Theodore smiled--he knew some of the instruments, explaining to Tobias that at his home, sometimes they had festivals and would play similar instruments. Most of the people in the little town learned from travelers passing through--that's how Theodore had learned to dance... not quite the way Aidan had seen. |
Tobias smirked some. "Can you dance?" he asked, offering his hand to Theodore. Usually he left opportunities such as that to only the highest of the court ladies, but he was in the mood to lighten the boy's spirits.

Theodore blinked a few times, looking at Tobias before those pale cheeks coloured softly. "Well... Yes." He replied with a soft smile, taking Tobias' hand to get up with the mage.

Tobias rose and led the boy out to the side near the musicians, starting to move to the beats of the music. He kept a playful distance with the jocular dance.
Aidan watched, slightly envious of Tobias's human form. |
Theodore was obviously enjoying himself as they danced;it'd been so long. Or it felt like it had anyway--he hadn't enjoyed himself like this since his mother was alive. The boy looked like that innocent farmer's boy he'd started out as once again, at least for this dance--dancing with him overjoyed him, making him blush so softly again, his freckled cheeks glowing a beautiful pink.

Tobias smiled, this was a new side to Theodore. He was so used to the boy being glum or in despair. He drew him closer, paused, then spun him about.
Almost pouting, Aidan ruffled his feathers. He fluffed up, allowing a few of his feathers to float down from his perch. |
Theodore gasped softly as he was drawn in closer only to giggle as he was spun around. He was so distracted by Tobias, enjoying dancing with the older man so much, he didn't notice the feathers or sense Aidan's gaze on him like he usually did.

Finding it hard to stomach watching the two dance, Aidan turned about, stretched out his wings and floated out to escape the mental torture. There was a tug at his human heart and bank of memories that left him distraught. While he would've been glad to forget it, he was afraid the animalistic nature might take over...
The song ended, and the musicians lowered their instruments. Prince Aviar waved them out. He was tired and needed to seek refuge in his gardens for awhile. The moment the topic of Princess Nybari came up, he had lost his appetite and interest in the jollies. He was too young to marry, right? Tobias still held the boy's hand, allowing the sensation to last before he let his hand slip out of his hold gently. |
Those bright blue eyes met with Tobias' violet eyes, smiling still as the music ended and he breathed out softly as their hold slowly broke. He'd never had such... vivid fun.

Tobias couldn't stop smiling. Perhaps it was stuck on his face?
As they were dismissed, he walked with Theodore back to his room. "Wasn't bad, now was it?" He was aware of the tension the child had exhibited in the dining hall. Lightly touching his cheek, he backed away and retreated to his room. Before he entered his room, he called out. "After lunch, we can start practice." |
Theodore walked with Tobias when the were dismissed, smiling at the man again as he commented on breakfast. "No... It wasn't." He said, looking a little surprised by that gentle touch, feeling his soft cheeks flush again. Ohh, he knew this feeling...what was he getting himself into?
The youth watched Tobias back away, nodding as the man called out to him, calling back with a gentle "Alright." before walking into his room and sighing out softly as he leaned back against the closed door, closing his eyes. Sloane rubbed against his legs, purring happily upon seeing him there since he'd woken to an empty bed. |
Aidan returned to his room before lunch, tired from his flight to wear out the thoughts that inundated his tiny mind. He was obsessing over his bristling jealousy.
He wanted to be human again. What would it take... No, not that again. The searing pain of being torn apart was a livid memory. Hopping onto the window sill, he looked around the room. |
Theodore was playing with Sloane when he heard Aidan's talons on the sill with his sensitive ears. He smiled and got up to move over to him, his fingers running over his feathers slowly again. "Welcome back, Aidan." He said so softly, smiling warmly at him. He was obviously still very happy after breakfast. "Did you find anything entertaining to do?" He inquired, seeing as he was gone for quite a while, pressing s gentle kiss to the bird's beak, upon the top.
