Theodore sighed out slowly, blushing softly as the man wiped the rest of his tears away, breathing out slowly. "Tobias.." He murmured, sighing a little, unsure of what to say--he was feeling so much inside him, feelings he'd thought he'd only ever harbor for Aidan. Was it too soon?

Tobias smiled in return. "Yes?" He was uncertain about the meaning of the blushing. Either he was feeling unwell or...
"Do you need to lay down?" he offered, his voice barely audible. |
Theodore blinked and blushed even more, shaking his head slightly. "Not.. not really." He said, looking down a bit.

Tobias felt his own cheeks heat up. He swallowed hard, unsure of what compulsed him to take hold of Theodore's cheeks in his hands gently. Tilting his head up, he kissed him.

Theodore gasped, blushing even darker but he didn't pull away. He kissed him back slowly, his hands shakily reaching to rest against the mage's chest, clutching softly at his shirt. "Mnn..."

Deepening the kiss, Tobias felt along the boy's jawline, down his neck and around his body. He moaned just briefly before moving away, flushed and speechless.

Theodore shivered and breathed out a tender moan at the affection. His lip remained parted as he looked up at Tobias, his face flushed a deep red as those blue eyes searched the mage's face. "T-Tobias.." He gasped so gently, and he leaned up against him again, pushing his lips to his once more in another kiss.

That kind of insistancy he couldn't resist. He held the boy and returned the kiss once more.
From the gardens, the prince ordered to have a member of his court speak to the child to gain firsthand knowledge of these alleged magics. |
Theodore kissed him heatedly, wrapping his arms slowly up around Toby's shoulders, pressing his fingers into the man's hair gently. He closed his eyes, breaking the kiss again to breathe softly against Tobias' neck, resting cheek to cheek.

Tobias panted softly. It had been quite some time before he allowed himself to be intimate with someone. He had resisted the temptation of blue eyes for so long. Feeling through the boy's soft hair, he tried to gather his thoughts, trying to understand what was coming over him.
Harold approached the two, stopping just a stride away. The mage gave him his attention, still holding the boy. "Is it true he has talents of the fire element?" the man asked, looking at the youths. |
Theodore looked at the approaching man, frowning at that particular question. He looked at Tobias, afraid to answer. He swallowed thickly, pressing in a little closer to Toby as he looked at the other man once more, wordless. He refused to say--he knew it must have been the prince who wanted to know. He'd rather rot in that dungeon than serve that man.

Tobias chose his words carefully. "He has the potential to use the fire arts, as many do." He patted the boy reassuringly as he felt his nervousness grow.

Theodore relaxed as his back was patted, turning in against Toby again. He just wanted the man to leave them alone, his hands clutching gently at the mage's shirt again.

Harold smirked, tipped his hat, and went to report to His Majesty what he had learned.
Tobias watched the man disappear from the courtyard before he turned his attention back to the boy in his arms. "It might be best if you did indeed started for home..." He released his hold on Theodore. "Let's check on your brother's condition." |
Theodore sighed as he listened to Tobias, nodding a little. "You'll still be coming along, right?" He asked softly, standing and dusting himself off a bit so he could walk with Toby to see his brother. He imagined he'd be okay--it wasn't that bad, had it been? His burn shouldn't make it too hard to travel.
"What do they want with me, anyhow? Why does it matter?" |
Tobias was unsure of what His Majesty would have planned for him. He maneuvered around the first question by stumbling away from it in obvious avoidance.
"With Aidan absent, and I can imagine forever now, the Elemental Mages need to be balanced. Even though I command all of the elements, we still need someone to handle just fire. I cannot compensate for what we lack and take care of my other responsibilities." He started toward the clinic, continuing his explanation. "They review many children who are potentials for the positions...There are many infants who will demonstrate they have some affinity toward Nature. "Mages don't have long lifespans. They're in need of keeping tabs on who will replace us when we're gone." |
Theodore frowned when Toby avoided the question--just like Aidan! Why were men like this? It was simple enough to just say "I don't know" wasn't it? He sighed as he listened to the explanation, chewing on his lower lip some while he walked with the mage. "...If they discover the extent of my... potential, it'll be me though, won't it?" He could tell by the way both Aidan and Tobias had reacted when he'd first shown his powers that it wasn't everyday they ran across a boy with such untapped power like his own.
The boy looked at Tobias again, bringing up the avoided question once more. "Will you be coming? You said.. you would." He pressed, one hand gently grasping the older man's as they walked to the clinic. "If I go without you, who will help me learn? I know... Aidan has some powers left, but if I lose control again--what can he do?" He whispered now, tipping his head to the man's shoulder with a heavy sigh. He wanted to see his family, but he didn't want to leave Tobias now. |
"There's a lot of potentials training right now. Many have far better control of their powers. But if it is decided that you should serve our kingdom, you'll be kept here for your turn."
Tobias held his hand weakly. "It depends, Theo. It really does. If My Lord decides that the best track to take will be to be dispatched against the Northern Raiders, I cannot go with you." |
Theodore held the man's hand a bit tighter, stopping their trek to the clinic to bring it up to his lips, kissing at his knuckles before holding Toby's hand with both of his, resting his head against the man's chest a moment as he spoke to him. "And... And if I refuse to serve?" He asked weakly, moving away from the subject of Toby being sent off to fight.

"We are all servants of the King." Tobias patted him on the back.
"I'll help you leave though. You deserve to live a long life. Aidan wanted you to see the world." |
Had those kisses meant anything to him? He was letting him go so easily, but perhaps... perhaps that was why. Theodore wanted to cry all over again but he held his emotions back, swallowing thickly again.
"... Alright, let's go check Sloane then." He said softly, releasing his hand slowly and keeping to himself all over again. He reverted back to the Theo Toby had originally met--his happiness locked up somewhere inside of him. |
"Theo..." Tobias murmured, recognizing the sudden shift. "This is what's best. I understand your opinion against His Majesty...Someone as young and free as yourself...shouldn't be bound to every order and whim of another."
He pursued his hand quickly and held it. |
Theodore stopped again as his hand was held, feeling a tear streak his face and he tried to hold the rest back. "But... What's the point of being free if there's no one to share it with?" He retorted quietly, his free hand reaching to rub that tear away and he blinked rapidly a moment in another attempt to hold the rest back.

"Did you think you would never find someone after Aidan?" Tobias asked hesitantly, knowing the subject was one that would spiral into one that would spout more tears.
"Maybe Aidan and I are just helping you find that perfect someone..." He hated saying it, knowing how much Aidan had cared for the boy...and how he himself was beginning to. |
Theodore felt his chest tighten at those words--about Aidan and about finding someone else. He'd already more or less lost Aidan. He loved him no matter what, but he couldn't uphold a relationship with a bird--he was sure it would be against some sort of law and moral standing. He looked up at Tobias again, his brow furrowed and he looked hurt and confused.
"I thought I had." Had that kiss meant so little? Those tears finally broke free and fell down his face in big streams from holding them back so long. His hand tried to pull free of Toby's as he turned to leave--he didn't want his brother to see him like this. |
