The water mage chuckled and agreed. Who knew when Lady Luck would stop smiling at him. The drinks arrived, and he took a long sip. As much as he enjoyed the taste, the subject brought up upset him some. He sighed deeply.
"Well...considering the boy's only two..." He remembered Danielle crying and telling him once she found out a month into the pregnancy. It had upset her considering the child's conception. It had taken a few days of tears to get her to accept it and move on. She would not risk her life to terminate the pregnancy. Once Danny was born, she regretted thinking about never having him and adored every moment spent with the child. |
Theodore frowned a bit and nodded in understanding, sighing. "I see." He let the subject drop however, taking a sip as they quieted. "Well then, where should we travel to?" He asked after a moment to change the subject and hopefully lighten the mood again.
"I hope you don't blame yourself. There's nothing to be done. And she loves that little boy. He's a sweet kid. Thank goodness he inherited more from her." He sat back to watch as the steaming foods were brought to the table. Inhaling the aroma, a small smile appeared. This was his comfort foods. Arturo ate a few bites as he considered where to go. "Perhaps we can just wander around for awhile and see where the winds take us. I'd like to go south." |
"Of course not, I can tell she does. I was too young to do anything I suppose." He shook his head a bit, smiling faintly as food was brought. "South? That sounds like a good idea to me. I haven't been far that way yet." He replied, taking another sip.
Arturo ate, pausing to take out a map he carried around. It was purchased from a cartographer during one of his missions. The edges were worn where he had folded it. Circled were some of the cities he wanted to go to. "While we're not held down by mates, let's go wild...unless you had a chance to find someone you're interested in while you were gone?" |
Theodore laughed, shaking his head. "No, I haven't. Adrien thinks I should settle with someone from the tribes, but I don't really want to." He just wasn't interested in any of them. Peering at the map, Theodore smiled a bit more and shifted to eat. That apple hadn't been as filling as it would have when he was younger.
"Are they not attractive?" Arturo teased. "Or is it just because he wants you to...marry a girl?" |
Theodore blushed and pushed his food around a moment. "Well, the counil has picked out a girl they want me to marry. She's extraordinarily strong as well, I think they're hoping our child would have the same, if not stronger, powers." He sighed and shook his head a bit.
"But you have no love for her..." Arturo sighed and patted the boy sympathetically. "Do all of the people in your tribe have powers...as in elementals or what?" |
"Yes. Those like Adrien can control multiple elements as well. Most of the tribe leaders are very powerful." He replied, taking another bite of his food and then a sip of his drink.
Arturo didn't have to eat too much to be full. He sat back in his chair and sighed, feeling over his abdomen and looking over some of the dancers performing for the patrons. "Well, they wouldn't be leaders if they weren't, right?" he chuckled. He was tired from the stress gained from his position as leading the King's Elementals. Again, he wondered how Tobias was able to handle it so well. |
"I suppose you're right." Theodore laughed, nodding as he finished his food, leaning back with his drink and a sigh. He felt much better now. "I don't know if I'm so ready to settle down anyhow." He murmured, rubbing at his scarred stomach a moment.
"We're young," Arturo chuckled. "Also, what happens on our trips, stay there," he added with a wink. "Can't ruin the fun. "When would you like to head out?" |
Theodore couldn't help but laugh a little at that, nodding in agreement. "Hmm... Anytime is fine." He replied with a smile, leaning forward slightly with a soft yawn. He'd traveled all night to get there, with food in his stomach and a drink in hand, it was beginning to catch up with him.
"We'll pack and then head out tomorrow then." Arturo was excited. He had been planning trips for so long and now he would be able to explore. No more missions for awhile. Just sightseeing! |
"Sounds like a plan." He finished his drink with a smirk, this was something to look forward to. After the rough three years, something so relaxing would be wonderful.
"Let's get some supplies then," Arturo said, paying for the food and beverages they had. He rose from his chair and headed out to the stores neighboring the pub. |
THeodore was going to pay for his own, but he didn't even get a chance to speak up when Arturo paid, rising with a stretch. "Well, alright." The tall boy walked alongside Arturo, smiling contently.
Anything Arturo wouldn't be able to obtain from the castle, he purchased from the specialty shops. He picked up a few locally made potions and some tools to keep handy. "Do you want anything, Theo?" |
"Nah, I think I'm good." He replied after a moment, sliding his hands into his top layer of his shirt, just above the belt, scratching some at some of the newer scars.
Arturo walked back to the castle, humming some. He would have to inform the others that he would be traveling for awhile, perhaps a few months at the most. Leaving Theodore behind, he entered one of the meeting rooms to talk to some of the trainers. While they depended on his abilities and experiences on the battlefield to train and inform the future Elementals, they understood and granted his request for leave. Aidan was playing with Danny, humoring him with a game involving hopping on certain colored tiles. |
Theodore wandered a bit, smiling as he heard the playing nearby and he approached where Aidan and Danny where. "Hey." He called softly, though he didn't really mean to interrupt.
Aidan turned to "look" in Theodore's direction. "Ah, Theodore. Where did you end up going?" Danny continued hopping forward, going backwards when he landed on a crack. It appeared to upset him when he did and he would continue trying again to fix his error. |
"Ah, just to have a drink with Arturo. We're going to go travel some for a while. Just hit some random places and see what happens." He laughed, smiling a bit more as he watched Danny.
"Sounds like fun," Aidan replied with a soft smile, much like the one he exhibited in his prior existence. "I bet you'll get to see a lot of amazing places and people." Danny lost his balance and tumbled forward, whimpering where he lay. Aidan immediately went over to help him up. "It's alright, tyke." |
