Nanashi really wished that he knew what more to say that would be of some comfort to Kyran, but at the moment, he just really couldn't think of much else. he kept his head down and nuzzled up against Kyran's neck while he told him that Ellior knew. He raised his head just a little when Kyran admitted that he almost wished that Selenity didn't love him the way that she did for the sake of her relationship with Ellior. He still didn't speak, mostly for lack of knowing what to say right this moment. He knew that what Kyran said was true...you couldn't be in a relationship with one man and love another. Things just didn't work out well that way. Even hearing Kyran voice concern about this eating at Ellior made his eyes water a little. Obviously, this was already eating pretty badly at Kyran...and there wasn't an easy fix for it. He closed his eyes and ducked his head a little when he felt teas slide down his cheeks. He didn't know why he always wound up crying when he knew that someone else was hurt, but it seemed he cried more easily for others than he could for himself. He nuzzled against Kyran again and wrapped him up more tightly in his arms. "...It is...," he agreed quietly after he had said that this was a mess. "...Everything will be okay...," he whispered again, "...I wish it could be right now." He rubbed his head gently against Kyran's shoulder once more, discretely trying to wipe off the tears before Kyran saw them since he didn't want him to feel any worse. After he had gotten what he could without making it obvious what he was doing he raised his head again and pulled his arms back, raising his hand to his face to try to wipe the rest away before he raised his head again to look back up to Kyran's face. "...Kyran...if you want...you can stay in here tonight," he offered quietly, "...I wouldn't mind...." He wanted to add that he didn't really like being alone to the list of reasons, but he didn't bother. He didn't want Kyran to feel obligated to stay in here with him.

Kyran couldn’t help but just stand there while Nanashi tried to comfort him. He was stuck with his thoughts, so he didn’t really pay too much attention to Nanashi’s nuzzlings and whatnot. He stared almost aimlessly wherever his eyes had fallen and gave a very slight nod of his head when Nanashi said that everything was going to be okay. Yeah, it would be okay… eventually… sometime… he hoped. He wished it could be okay right now too. If there wasn’t this problem, everything would be fine. Now that he thought about it, this problem was liable to put stress on their journey too. Gods… he didn’t want to think about that either. He sighed heavily and started to shut his eyes and lean his head back a little. He paused however, at least in the motion and glanced to Nanashi momentarily when he heard him say that he could stay in here tonight if he wanted, and that he wouldn’t mind. He thought about that for a moment. The offer wasn’t a bad one. He doubted that anyone would look for him in here with Nanashi, especially knowing that he wouldn’t usually invade on Nanashi when he was trying to recover after everything that had happened to him. He also didn’t really want to have to go back to his room and deal with Nobu. Esen would leave him alone and so would Celestine for the most part… but Nobu, oh no, that dog would want to talk and want to try and make him feel better. At least in here with Nanashi he could talk if he wanted and not if he didn’t and then not be pestered into talking if he didn’t feel like it. He sighed softly, trying to relax a little and gave a slight nod of his head. “….I think I would prefer that….” He answered quietly. “Thank you for the offer.”

Nanashi still wasn't too sure what to do with himself right now. He really did wish that he knew what to do for Kyran as far as making him feel better went, but there was really not much that he could do. He blinked, looking somewhat surprised when Kyran said that he would prefer to stay in here with him. He felt the corners of his mouth pull up into a weak smile when Kyran thanked him for offering to let him stay in here and then nodded his head weakly. "...Of course," he told him quietly. He placed his hand on Kyran's shoulder again for a moment and then leaned his head against his shoulder for just a moment before he backed away again. He offered him another weak smile and then started to make his way back over to the bed he had been using with a quiet sigh. He sat down and then glanced toward the window for a moment before he started to lean back and closed his eyes. "...I'm glad you decided to stay," he admitted quietly. He really didn't like being here alone. It was unnerving not being around anyone that he knew in a place like this, especially when there were people who could come in and out all of the time. He had already had several maids peek in on him to see if he needed anything, and usually he pretended to be asleep to avoid talking to them, although he couldn't help but wonder how many more times they had come when he really was asleep. There was nothing comforting about having a room all to himself, even if he was recovering, he much preferred having the company of Kyran or LaRae around him.

Kyran wouldn’t say that he was uncomfortable sharing a room with Nanashi… but given the current state of his feelings, sharing a room with anyone was a little… awkward, he supposed. He just kind of lingered where he stood for a few moments after Nanashi had already made his way back over towards the bed he was using. He sighed softly and gave a slight nod of his head when he heard Nanashi say that he was glad he decided to stay. “…Yeah…” He commented only because there wasn’t much else to say. He couldn’t say ‘me too’… at least not yet. He had to see how this played out before he could judge anything. He remained standing there for a few moments longer, almost like he was afraid to get comfortable and then finally just gave in and started to make his way over towards the other bed. He went ahead and started unbuttoning his vest along the way and started to slip out of it, dropping it on the bed as he reached it. He reached into his pocket and started to remove the things he had bought earlier in the day and set them down lightly on the bedside table, just before sitting down on the edge of the bed so that he could start untying and removing his boots. After he got his boots removed and set off to the side he just kind of sat there and stared down at them for a moment or two. Today had been such a rotten day… and honestly… it still felt bad. He had left Selenity alone in the garden… he should’ve asked someone to go and check on her. By now it was probably too late, she wouldn’t still be out there… and he couldn’t possibly ask Nanashi to do it. He sighed softly and brought his legs up onto the bed, turning so that he could lean against the pillows and the headboard. He sat there just leaning against the headboard for a minute or two, already knowing he didn’t want to be completely alone with his own thoughts… and he wasn’t exactly tired just yet. He eyed the items that he had removed from his pocket and sighed quietly before he reached for the rock he had bought and held it in his hand, rolling it between his fingers. “….You think you could maybe keep an eye on her …when you’re around her that is…” He asked quietly before glancing over at Nanashi. “…I don’t think it’s good for me to be too concerned with her and like… hovering around her making sure she’s alright…” He paused and glanced away. “I am still going to worry… I mean… she’s in this as much as I am… I just want to make sure she’s alright… without actually having to be the one to make sure….”

Nanashi didn't plan to bother Kyran anymore than he already had. He was glad that he was staying with him, but he didn't want to bother him until he regretted doing so. Already he really didn't sound very happy. He did peek at Kyran a bit curiously when he noticed that he hadn't moved away from the door, but he just let him stand there until he decided to make his way over to the other bed on his own. He closed his eyes again and just lay there sprawled across the bed diagonally while Kyran was getting himself situation on the other bed. He didn't offer to disturb him, but he still took some comfort in his presence simply being in the room, even if he wasn't in the best of moods. Nanashi of course was worried and wanted to help, but he knew better than to be too pushy. He wanted Kyran to feel as if he could come to him, he didn't want to inadvertently push him away by pestering him to death. Of course there wasn't anything that he could do but listen, but if Kyran ever decided to talking would help, he would be there. He opened his eyes again when he heard Kyran speak and was almost a little surprised that he was asking him to do something for him. He tiled his head back so that his wide ruby eyes were trained on Kyran's face upside down for a moment before he started to roll himself over a little and pushed up onto his elbows. He continued to stare over at Kyran when he asked him if he would mind making sure that Selenity was alright...or at least he was left to assume that was who he was talking about. He sighed softly and nodded his head a little, although he seemed a little reluctant to do so. "...Of course, Kyran...but I...I am certain that she will be alright...," he tried to tell him quietly. After all, it wasn't as if Ellior was a bad guy. He may not have been the guy that she wanted, but he was at least kind, and he was pretty sure that given time she could come to like him at least a little. Of course he knew better than to say that to Kyran right now. "...I don't know that she would say anything to me either way," he admitted quietly, "...She tends to speak to me like a child more often than not...I doubt she would care to let on that anything was bothering her in front of me whether or not she was being bothered." After all, even Kyran had been trying to play it off in front of him as if everything was perfectly fine, when obviously it wasn't. "...I will try," he promised him finally, "I will let you know if I am able to figure anything out."

Kyran looked over at Nanashi when he said that he was certain that Selenity would be alright and after a moment or two he just nodded his head a little. He knew that in the long run she would be perfectly fine. Ellior was a good guy and he would treat her the way she needed to be treated, he had no doubt about that. But he worried about her now not later. He felt like he was sitting there with his heart in pieces… he could only imagine that she was feeling similarly. Unlike him, who could talk to Nanashi or anyone else about this if he wanted… She didn’t really have anyone. No one in the palace could know about them and the only people who really did were the small group they traveled with. He wasn’t even sure that she was too terribly close to anyone in the group either and well.. Nanashi seemed the least… well… he wasn’t even sure what; he just knew he trusted Nanashi. He gave another slight nod as he listened to Nanashi and then finally just sighed quietly. “…You don’t have to go dig any information out of her or anything…” He started. “…I just want to have someone I can count on to be there if she needed someone.” He paused and stared at the rock in his hand. “I mean… I would do it myself… comfort her and let her have my shoulder if she needed it… but that would just make distancing from her all the harder…” He sighed quietly. “For now… I think I need to just be another person she travels with… someone she talks to occasionally… I can’t be as close to her as I was, not if this thing with Ellior… is going to work….” He hated saying that, hated the way it rolled off his tongue… but it was true. He couldn’t put himself in the way and distancing himself from her was the only thing that he could think of to do. He leaned his head back against the headboard and shut his eyes and just sat there quietly for a few moments. “…I am sorry to drag you into this….” He finally said, still not bothering to open his eyes just yet. “…I would ask one of the girls …but I’m almost afraid they might pry for information or something…” He shook his head slightly. “…I’m not even sure that is why I won’t ask LaRae or Aamori…” He admitted. “…I just know I trust you not to badger her …and you’ll be nonthreatening as far as conversation goes, if she does decide to talk to you…” He sighed softly and straightened his head a little before cracking his eyes open. “…If she doesn’t want to talk I am sure it’s because like me… she doesn’t want to let on that anything is wrong. Telling someone about this… about all of it… just kind of makes it feel real…. And I… I don’t want it to be real….” He admitted quietly and averted his eyes all together.

Nanashi continued to look over at Kyran when he informed him that he didn't need to go digging information out of her. He nodded his head slightly in response, although he had never intended to try to dig information out of her in the first place. He tilted his head a little when he added that he just wanted to have someone that he could count on to be there if she needed someone. "...I've always been here," he pointed out quietly. He wasn't exactly used to having people count on him for anything. If anything, he was more used to having people want to keep him as far away from their business as possible, but he had always been there for anyone who wanted him. He went quiet again and simply listened as Kyran told him the reason that he couldn't do it himself and what needed to be done in this situation. He didn't bother to speak for the time being, he simply listened and watched him attentively while he told him that he couldn't be close to Hikari if this thing with Ellior was going to work. "...I understand," he said finally, once he was finished. He sighed softly and lowered his eyes finally before hauling himself the rest of the way onto the bed. He sat upright and pulled his legs up to his chest, leaning forward slightly to wrap his arms around them. He could almost understand the way that Kyran was feeling. After all, he had felt the same way a few times when it came to LaRae, but the big difference there was that the man she had been promised to was nothing like Ellior. He was the exact opposite, and he just couldn't throw up his hands and surrender her to him. Of course he was also well aware that Renzo could and would probably kill him if he didn't...but right now that was the least of his worries. He was still looking for some way to get LaRae out of that mess, he wasn't quite ready to stat trying to pull away from her just yet. He had lowered his head to allow his chin to rest on his knees while he thought, although he did raise he head a bit when Kyran apologized for dragging him into this. "Mm-mm...," he muttered quietly as he shook his head a little. He uncurled himself a bit and turned a little more toward Kyran while he told him why he hadn't asked one of the girls to be the one to try to be there for Selenity when she needed someone. He was right to think that he wouldn't badger Selenity about what was bothering her. He would ask once or twice, but that was about all that his badgering ever amounted to. He wasn't quite so sure what he meant about him being nonthreatening as far as conversation went, but he didn't bother to ask. His ears laid back a little when Kyran said that he didn't want to talk about it because he didn't want it to be real. For a few moments he sat there in silence before he slipped off of the edge of the bed and walked over to the other one. He reached over to place his hand on Kyran's shoulder gently and looked down at him form where he stood somewhat sympathetically. "I understand," he told him again quietly. He shifted to perch on the edge of the bed lightly and moved his hand down to place over top of Kyran's lightly. "...I will do whatever I can...I promise," he assured him quietly. He blinked when he realized that Kyran was holding something and glanced down somewhat curiously, tilting his head a bit as he stared sown at his hands quizzically, moving his own for a moment so that he could see.

Kyran was glad that Nanashi didn’t seem to mind what he was asking of him. He knew that Nanashi had always been there if someone needed him… but he didn’t really think that anyone ever wanted to bother Nanashi with their problems. The guy had enough of his own as it was… he didn’t need to be stuck trying to help other people out of their own. He also thought of Nanashi much like a younger brother so he didn’t really feel all that comfortable relying on him for something like this. But again, Nanashi was the best choice there was. Either of the girls would be too intrusive in his opinion. Nero wouldn’t care. Celestine wouldn’t want to get involved and Kanone… well… he was Kanone. He also didn’t feel like he should bother Nobu or Esen with this either even though they were probably decent enough choices as far as looking out for Selenity went. Both of them were just dogs as far as anyone in the palace was concerned… but knowing Nobu… well, he’d try to get in the middle and patch things up. Not that there was anything to patch…
He didn’t really bother saying too much else once he admitted that he didn’t want this to all be real. That was quite the thing to say and there wasn’t a whole lot else to follow it. He did glance to Nanashi momentarily when he wound up getting up from the bed and walking over to touch his shoulder. He just kind of smiled weakly at his saying he understood. He wasn’t entirely sure Nanashi really, truly understood… but it was the thought that counted. He gave a slight nod of his head once Nanashi had said that he would do whatever he could, he promised. “…Thank you.” He uttered quietly. He noticed that Nanashi was looking down at his hand curiously. He smiled weakly again and turned his hand upright a little and opened his palm to reveal the somewhat large rock in his hand. It was various shades of blue and looked like something that was mined out of the earth. It wasn’t very pretty the way it was at the moment… it just looked like something you might pick up to chuck in the water or something. He left his palm open long enough for Nanashi to get a good look at it and then slowly wrapped his fingers back around it. “….Her birthday is soon….” He said quietly. “…..I thought …well… that I would make her something….” He added and then stared down at the rock in his hand for a moment or two. Thinking about it now it was probably silly that he wanted to make her anything… but when it came to him… he just had to do it and honestly, he still wanted to do it even though he was supposed to be trying to distance himself from her.

Nanashi didn't really expect Kyran to say much more on the topic, since what he had said already said plenty. He knew how much this was bothering him, and he knew that it was only going to get worse the more that he was forced to be around her while she was trying to get used to the idea of being with Ellior. Nanashi may not have understand a lot of things as far as relationships and other people went, but at the same time, he understood many things quite well. The idea of being alone was painful, and the idea of not being able to share the rest of your life with a person you had come to love was even more painful. He was well aware of how it felt to simply be considered not good enough for someone. He was a halfbreed, so in many instances, he was never considered good enough to even befriend many dragons, so it wasn't too hard to imagine how Kyran must feel to inadvertently be told that he didn't have enough social standing or the right colored scales to be with Selenity. He nodded h is head a little when Kyran thanked him and tried to return his little smile before his attention was caught by whatever Kyran was holding in his hand.
He stared down at the large stone that Kyran was holding when he opened his hand to let him see and tilted his head a little. He smiled weakly when he got a good look at the thing and then looked back to Kyran again. "It's pretty," he told him, even though he had no idea why he was carrying around a rock. It looked like something he had just picked up outside somewhere. There were all kind of crystals around here, so it wasn't beyond imagining that he could find something like that lying about outside. He turned his attention back to Kyran's face when he mentioned that Hikari's birthday was soon, and that he thought he would make her something. He smiled a little, but at the same time he looked a bit confused, as if he had been given a piece of information that he wasn't too sure what to do with. "...I'm sure she will like it," he told him, although he still sounded as if he was trying to process something when he spoke. "What are you making?" He sat quietly for a few moments, but finally, he just had to ask, even though he was sure Kyran was going to think he sounded like an idiot. Kyran was always the best person to ask these things, since he seemed to know a lot about the different clans and their cultures. "...Is it a custom to give gifts to royals on their birthday here?" He couldn't think of why else he would have mentioned her birthday coming up before he mentioned wanting to make her something. He could understand wanting to do it just because, but he was a little curious if it was a custom around here that he normally wouldn't have been a part of. Naturally, Nanashi had never really had his birthday celebrated, at least not as far back as he could remember, so he had no idea that it was something that everyone tended to do for people that they cared about on their birthday.

Kyran couldn’t help but look at Nanashi almost a little curiously himself when he had asked if it was a custom to give gifts to royals on their birthdays. He had been about to tell him what he was planning on making but once Nanashi got that question out he couldn’t help but put his answer on hold to address the other question. He supposed he shouldn’t really be that surprised that Nanashi wasn’t informed about things as normal as birthdays. He sighed softly and leaned back more comfortably against the headboard and crossed his feet at the ankles. “It isn’t a custom held strictly to royals.” He answered first. “Not all families experience things the same… but a good majority of them celebrate births and sometimes gifts are given to the person whose birth is being celebrated.” He explained. “For instance, when it was Minako’s birthday my father and I gave her presents.” He paused. “Then on my birthday she and my father gave me presents.” He told him. He rolled the rock around in his hand for a moment and then continued. “It’s usually families that exchange presents… but you can also do it for people that you care about, like a lover or a friend.” He told him. “It wouldn’t be unusual for you and LaRae to exchange presents on your birthdays.” He paused. “…Or for you and me to do so on our birthdays.” He looked at Nanashi and smiled slightly. “It’s not a requirement that you give presents to people on their birthdays, but if you want to, you can. If you don’t want to, you don’t have to.” He told him and then thought back to his previous question. “As for the other question…” He paused and held the rock up a little. “I had planned to shape this into a much smaller gem and attach it to that chain on the bedside table.” He said as he nodded his head towards the bedside table. “I wanted to try and make her a necklace…” Something she couldn’t buy in a store… He added quietly to himself.

Nanashi listened attentively when Kyran started to explain to him about the whole birthday custom. He didn't interrupt him, although he did stare at him inquisitively while he spoke. He had never really seen what happened on someone's birthday, although his older cousin had always made a big deal about it approaching. Of course when it did finally get there, he had been shooed up to his room in the attic and wasn't even allowed to come down for dinner that day. He had heard several people below in the house, but he hadn't known what was going on or what all had happened. He had noticed that she did seem to have a few new items, but he hadn't ever really paid much mind to it or put two and two together. After all, his cousin was always coming home with new things, and he was always getting shooed away whenever there were going to be guests over since no one wanted to have to look at him. His eyes seemed to brighten a little when he started explaining how things were done at his house with his father and sister before. It really did sound like a nice concept, not that he ever thought it would expand to him. He still smiled almost excitedly when Kyran said that it wouldn't be uncommon for him and LaRae to exchange gifts, or for the two of them to exchange gifts. His tail had taken to swaying from side to side a bit enthusiastically and coiling around his ankle as he listened. His smile faded a little when Kyran mentioned that it wasn't a requirement and that you didn't have to give anything if you didn't want to. It just dawned on him, that he really didn't have anything he could give. He had no money except for the two coins he had to his name, and that really wasn't enough to even buy anything, so he couldn't buy anything to give to anyone, nor could he even buy materials to try to make something like Kyran had. His ears fell back just a little as that thought sunk in. He didn't want anyone to think that he didn't want to bother with them. "I wouldn't really know what I could get anyone...," he responded quietly, sounding rather disappointed. He looked back to Kyran again and tilted his head a little when he started to explain to him what he intended to make with the stone. He glanced over to the night stand when it was motioned toward and then smiled a bit when he told him that he wanted to make a necklace. "Oh...I'm sure she would love it," he told him as he looked back to him again with a smile. "It is a really pretty stone, it would make a nice pendant." He would have offered to help him, but he was pretty sure that Kyran would prefer to do it entirely on his own so that it meant more. "...By the way...when is your birthday?" he asked him curiously. Maybe he would be able to come up with something before then, if he had enough time to do so.

Kyran had noticed how excited the topic seemed to make Nanashi once it was explained. He felt kind of bad that Nanashi hadn’t experienced something as normal and as simple as celebrating a birthday… but given that he was a dragon half it really wasn’t that surprising. He shook his head a little when Nanashi spoke saying that he wouldn’t really know what he could get anyone and sounded disappointed about it. “Presents don’t have to cost money.” He told him with a slight smile. “One year when Minako was little she drew me a picture and that meant a lot to me. It didn’t require anything from her but some creativity.” He paused. “Simple presents can sometimes mean the most to someone, just so long as some thought is put behind it.” He said quietly. He looked back down at the stone momentarily when Nanashi told him that he was sure that Selenity would love it. He hoped so… especially since it was going to be the first and the last thing he ever gave her. He sighed softly and started to reach over to the nightstand to set the stone down. He glanced back to Nanashi as he was straightening himself up again and smiled slightly at his last question. “Mine’s a good ways off.” He answered. “When it’s close enough to matter, I’ll let you know.” He told him. He thought about it for a moment or two before looking back to Nanashi almost a little curiously. “I’m sure that her father will celebrate her birthday… this is going to be the first birthday you’ll get to celebrate… isn’t it?” He wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if this would be the first… though he almost felt bad. If it were true then the first birthday celebration he’d attend would be of epic proportions compared to a normal family who wasn’t royalty.

Nanashi smiled a little once again when Kyran told him that presents didn't have to cost money and then told him that Minako had drawn him a picture once. He chuckled softly at the mental image that conjured. Of course, he didn't think he would be able to do that either. He wasn't really gifted with art as far as he was concerned, and even that would require him having access to paper and something to draw with. Still...he was sure there was something he could do. After all, there was a whole world out there full of things that he could play around with and try to make something out of. He watched as Kyran started to set the stone down on the night stand. He looked at it again for a moment before he turned his attention back to Kyran when he went to answer his next question. He half smiled when Kyran told him that when it got close enough to matter that he would let him know and nodded his head a little. He almost wished that it would have been sooner since he would like to try to find or make something nice for him. Maybe that would cheer him up a little, even if for a few minutes.
He had let his eyes drift off to another corner of the room for a few moments before his attention was brought back to Kyran when he started to ask him about whether or not this would be the first birthday that he got to celebrate. He smiled again and tilted his head a little. "Uh-huh," he replied rather happily. He wasn't upset that he had never gotten to celebrate one before, he was just kind of excited to get to celebrate one now, although he didn't know that he would be able to come up with a present for her. Then again, he wasn't sure that he wanted to this time. After all, Kyran was going through the trouble to make her something special, so maybe he should just leave that to him. Nanashi has already pretty much come to terms with the fact that he wasn't quite up to par with a pure blooded dragon, so he knew it would be silly to get upset because no one had ever wanted to celebrate his birthday before. Even now after Kyran had already said that they could exchange gifts on each of their birthdays, he didn't even think about how close his own was getting. He was starting to wonder when LaRae's birthday was and wondering what he may be able to do for hers.

Kyran couldn’t help but smile a little when Nanashi answered his question so happily. It was kind of a shame that nowadays some people took such simple things for granted. Nanashi hadn’t experienced a lot of things normal kids did, so seeing him so excited over someone elses birthday just made him smile. Not everyone got as excited over something like that anymore. “Since this will be your first, I feel I should forewarn you… not all celebrations are going to be like this one.” He was hoping that Nanashi had already grasped that. “Royals… well, they do things a lot differently than we normal run-of-the-mill citizens.” He didn’t intentionally try to sound annoyed at that… but it may have come off just a little in the way he spoke. He had nothing against Royalty… but given the gap between him and Selenity… he just couldn’t help the tone slipping out a little. As soon as he noticed the way he had said that his ears fell back slightly. He needed to not sound like that, even if it was just Nanashi he was talking to. “Hopefully we will get a chance to show you how most people celebrate birthdays.” He said as he glanced to Nanashi. “Someone elses must be coming up sooner or later.”

Nanashi was still grinning a little as he perched on the edge of the bed. He was going to have to ask LaRae when her birthday was the next time that that he spoke to her. He almost hoped that it was sometime soon, since in all honestly he was more interested in celebrating hers than Selenity's. He glanced back over to Kyran again when he heard him speak and titled his head a little when Kyran told him that not all birthday celebrations were going to be like this one. He smiled a little and shrugged a bit. "Oh, I know," he responded simply. His smile of course faded a bit when he heard the bitterness in Kyran's voice when he added that ryoals did thing differently than normal run-of-the-mill citizens. He simply looked at him and sighed softly as his shoulders slumped a little. He didn't mind that the 'normal' people did things to a lesser scale. In all honestly, he was pretty sure he would prefer it that way as to having some enormous party with a bunch of people he probably didn't even really know in attendance. He knew that wasn't what had Kyran upset though. He knew it was because Selenity was a royal and he was grouped in with your average run-of-the-mill citizens. He simply smiled a little once again when Kyran said that hopefully they would get a chance to show him how most people celebrated birthdays and that someone else's must becoming up soon.
After a minute he turned around a bit on the bed and pulled his legs up so that he was sitting on his knees and stared over at Kyran for a few moments. "So...do dragons celebrate every seasonal year or do you use your own markers?" he asked curiously. He waited quietly for Kyran to explain, although mentioning the seasons reminded him of something. He was still listening to Kyran, although his mind was working out a little mental math puzzle as he did so. It was already near the beginning of September, or so he thought. He didn't really have much of a way to keep track and given the different climates of the different places they were going it was a little hard to keep track. Even still...if he was right, then the fall equinox was approaching, and from what he had been told, he had been born on the day of the the autumnal equinox. He blinked, looking rather surprised as he came to another realization. This next equinox would mark his 40th season, which would also mark his fourth dragon year. He blinked when he realized that either way, it would definitely be his birthday, and it wasn't more than a couple of weeks away, if that. By the time he had calculated all of that, he really didn't look like he was listening anymore. It wasn't really so much because of the conversation that they had previously and the idea of a party, he was just a little awestruck at the realization that he was had made it to four full dragon years...or nearly done so. He supposed he shouldn't count his luck just yet. His eyes wandered over to the mirror across the room and he stared at himself for a moment. It was so strange looking at himself with these sort of thoughts on his mind. Here he was just about to turn four...and he already looked like he was nearly grown. He stared at the mirror for a few moments before he looked away again and stared down at the floor for a moment. If he was already this old, and dragons only counted every ten years as one, how many birthdays would he have? At the rate that he was aging, he didn't think that it would be very many. His ears fell back a little as that thought hit him and he sighed quietly before he remembered that he was still sitting with Kyran. He looked back to him and smiled again, quickly clearing his expression of any of his prior thoughts. He didn't know why he even let his mind wander down that path, but it was a road that it seemed to like to travel every once in a while. Sometimes the differences between him and real dragons really stood out over the simplest of things, no matter how silly they seemed.

Kyran was a little surprised by Nanashi’s question about when they celebrated the birthdays. He hadn’t really expected Nanashi not to know that one… but then again he supposed it wasn’t that surprising. He smiled slightly as he looked over at him. “Human years are seasonally, dragon years are once every ten human years.” He paused. “…So once every ten years we celebrate the day were born.” He answered as simply as he possibly could though he was guessing that Nanashi had already had some idea about that since he had thought to ask. He didn’t entirely focus too much on Nanashi while he was having his own little inner thought party, though once the silence seemed like it had dragged on enough he did glance over at him and see him staring at himself in the mirror. He had no idea what Nanashi was thinking and he obviously not wanted to share because he cleared his expression of whatever it was he was feeling. Rather than prod him and get an answer out of him as to what was wrong he decided to just change the subject slightly, turn it back to something that had seemed to get him excited before. “Do you want to get anything as a present for Selenity?” He asked seeing as it didn’t appear Nanashi had celebrated a birthday before… and really, gift giving was just as much a part of the celebration as receiving the gifts. “I can help out if there is anything you think you want to do.” He told him with a slight smile.

Nanashi was already kind of aware that dragons counted every ten years as a dragon year, but he didn't know if they only celebrated at that time or not. He barely nodded his head when Kyran was finished explaining, although by then his mind had more or less taken off without him. By the time he looked back he looked almost guilty as he smiled. He knew Kyran wasn't in the mood for much of anything, especially not putting up with him thinking abut pointless things. He was both relieved and unsurprised when Kyran didn't ask him what was bothering him, or perhaps hadn't even noticed there was anything amiss. He blinked when he posed a question back to him, looking a little surprised. "Oh, I...," he started and then tilted his had a little and narrowed his eyes a bit hesitantly. "I would like to but...I...I really don't know where to start. I mean...I don't believe there is a whole lot that she doesn't already have...and I don't want to make her something," he admitted as he glanced over to the table. Obviously, he wanted Kyran's piece to be more special than any of them, and he thought it would make it stand out a little less if he went and copied him and tried to make something original. He looked back to him and smiled a little. "I'm not very good at that sort of thing anyway...," he told him, although he had never really tried making something himself. He had whittled on things with a knife, but that was about it, and it was usually just little animal dolls for his cousin, not that there was a whole lot of wood to work with where he was from. He shook his head a little and then sighed softly. "...I'm not even really sure what she likes, she's never really talked to me about anything personal," he admitted quietly. He smiled a little after a moment, already assuming that he has asked more to try to cheer him up than wondering what he wanted to do. He shifted on the bed a little more and wrapped both arms around Kyran suddenly, nuzzling against his chest a little in a wordless 'thanks' for trying. "I'll figure something out," he said quietly before he released him and looked back to him with another warm smile.
He sat there for a moment just looking at him with a rather hard to read expression on his face before he just sighed and wrapped his arms back around him again loosely and merely laid his head to rest on his shoulder for a few moments. He didn't offer to speak or even try to look at him for the time being. He wasn't even sure what he was doing, in all honestly. He just felt like holding onto him right this moment as if that was going to make everything better for both of them. He was thankful that Kyran was kind enough to sit and talk to him and even put up with him at all, and he really wished that he could return the favor by making him feel better somehow. After a long, unmoving silence he finally sighed again quietly and started to sit up again. "...I'm getting tired again...," he told him quietly. It was getting rather late, they had been talking for quite a while, and his body was telling him to get his ass back in bed and try to sleep a little more. He still hadn't been resting very well for the past few nights. He was continuously disturbed by nightmares about what had happened days before when they were attacked by the hunters and what he had done to that one. It was relatively easy to forget about during the day when he had other things to preoccupy his mind, but once he was asleep it was impossible to filter it. He had been startled awake, all practically woken up screaming, woken up crying once or twice, and who knew what else. Once he hadn't even been able to wake up at all and was just left struggling to do so. He hoped that having Kyran in the room might help him sleep without all of that, but at the same time he was a little nervous about having him sleep in here, just in case it didn't.

Kyran had asked about Nanashi doing something for Selenity’s birthday partially as a subject change and partially because he actually cared and thought Nanashi might enjoy that aspect of celebrating. He stared over at Nanashi as he started to respond and smiled slightly as he listened. “It is a little daunting trying to think of a present for someone who can quite literally buy anything they want.” He commented quietly. He had had a little bit of a hard time thinking about what to get her but eventually had decided to just try and make something. That would mean more to her anyway. He glanced towards the nightstand after Nanashi had said that he wasn’t very good at making things anyway. He looked back towards him and smiled a little softly. “I don’t think I’m that great at making things either…. But I think when you make something for someone it means a little more than just buying something.” He paused. “And I’m not sure that Selenity has very many hand-made presents from her friends… most people would probably think that gifts like that were below a Princess.” He shook his head slightly. “If you think you can make something for her, just make something. I am sure she’d really appreciate it and be happy that you even took the time.” He didn’t mind if Nanashi made her something too. He wasn’t so stuck up that he had to be the only person making her something.
He was a little surprised when Nanashi shifted and wound up wrapping his arms around him and just laid his head against his shoulder and nuzzled him. He sat there quietly and just tried to put an arm around him loosely. He didn’t mind the affection from Nanashi and knew that Nanashi probably needed it just about as much as he did. He looked over at him though when he started to sit up and said that he was getting tired again. He smiled weakly. “Sorry for keeping you up.” He uttered quietly and then nodded his head towards Nanashi’s bed. “Go on, go get some sleep. I’ll still be here in the morning.” He told him quietly.

Nanashi smiled slightly when Kyran said that making something meant a little more than buying something and nodded a little. He could definitely agree with that, although in his case being given something at all was rather special. He smiled again when Kyran told him that if he thought that he could make something for her that he should just make something. He nodded his head slightly after being told that if he thought he could make something for Selenity to go ahead. He knew that Kyran probably wouldn't have cared if he had tried to make something as well, but he just thought that it would have been nice if that remained Kyran's idea. Even still, he might give it a try. He was sure nothing he did would be better than why Kyran had in mind, or mean the same to her. After all, he wasn't Kyran.
After he has sat away a little and admitted to being tired again he shook his head slightly upon hearing Kyran apologize for keeping him up. "You didn't," he told him quietly. He nodded his head a little when he told him that he would still be here in the morning, but he seemed in no real hurry to get moving. He glanced over to his own bed and then sighed quietly. "...Goodnight," he muttered quietly as he leaned back against Kyran long enough to wrap his arm around him again. He stayed like that for a long moment, probably just long enough to make Kyran wonder if he intended to sleep like that, before he forced himself to sit up and climbed off of the bed. He glanced back to Kyran again once he was up and smiled weakly before he walked over to his own bed and peeled back the covers so that he could climb in and get comfortable. Once he was in the bed, it was a little difficult to keep himself awake for long. His body was still exhausted, even if he didn't really have much of a desire to sleep, and soon enough he had drifted off before he even had time to realize it.
Thankfully, he did manage to sleep peacefully through most of the night with only minimal restlessness, at least until the later hours when he had entered the deeper stages of sleep. It was still a couple of hours before dawn when he started to toss and turn around, groaning helplessly in his sleep. He rolled to one side and then the other, clutching tightly at the pillow. All at once he let out a startled yelp and bolted upright in the bed, wrapping both arms around himself tightly. His eyes locked open wide while he tried to wake himself up and calm himself down, taking in deep breaths as he pulled his legs up closer to him. He sat there for a couple of seconds before he started to look around the dark room, as he'd done most every other night to make sure that he was indeed still alone. He had forgotten about Kyran sharing a room with him tonight, although as soon as he remembered his breath caught and he quickly lowered himself back to the bed and rolled over, facing the opposite wall while he pulled the covers up to his chin and shut his eyes, hoping that he hadn't woken him up, assuming that he had indeed spent the night in this room. He lay there wide awake, although he kept his eyes closed tightly. He didn't think he was going to be sleeping anymore tonight no matter how long he lay there, but that didn't stop him from trying.

Once Nanashi finally got himself over to the other bed and had fallen asleep, it really didn't take Kyran all that long to fall asleep either. He had been awake since rather early in the morning and the only real reason he was even still awake now was because he had been talking to Nanashi. Now that he didn't have Nanashi to keep him awake he wound up just falling asleep the way he had been sitting. He stayed that way for quite awhile without even noticing it. It didn't even dawn on him that he had fallen asleep, let alone sitting up until he heard a yelp that jerked him out of his own sleep. It took him a moment to remember exactly where he was and what he had been doing and it finally dawned on him that he had fallen asleep sitting up. About that time he remembered that a yelp had woken him and he glanced to the other bed. By the time he had looked over Nanashi had rolled over, which lead him to believe that maybe he had imagined that yelp because it looked like Nanashi hadn't really moved. Or well, he assumed that Nanashi hadn't really moved. He glanced towards the window anyway, half checking to see if there was a storm or something. He knew there wasn't one... he'd have felt it. He sighed softly and shifted until he was sitting on the edge of the bed closer to Nanashi's. He didn't want to just go back to sleep when he wasn't sure if Nanashi was alright. He had good hearing usually, so he didn't want to think he was imaging anything... but he also didn't want to wake Nanashi up if he had imagined it. He stared over at Nanashi for a moment and then shook his head a little. "....You alright, Nanashi?" He asked in a quiet, calm but still a little concerned tone, nothing that should wake him if he should be sleeping... or at least he hoped.

Nanashi remained perfectly still after he had laid back down, save for his breathing, which was by no means the shallow, deep breathing of someone who was asleep. He couldn't stand to keep his eyes closed for too long, so soon enough he was staring off at the opposite wall trying his best to keep himself calm. This had pretty much been the norm for the last few nights with him. He could barely fall asleep and then when he finally managed to do so, he awoke feeling too uneasy to rest. It was easier on him staying calm knowing that Kyran was just in the other bed, but his heart was still hammering. He shut his eyes a little more tightly when Kyran spoke to him and then let out a shaky sigh. He had hoped that he hadn't made enough noise to wake him, but obviously he had. "...I'm fine," he responded quietly after a moment without even offering to turn around and look at him. He didn't really want to be caught in a lie, so he didn't think rolling over where Kyran could see his face would help him out any. He pulled the covers up around himself a little more and curled his feet up a little. "...I'm Sorry," he muttered quietly. He hadn't meant to wake him up, or worry him, and he could hear the concern in his tone. He sighed quietly, and tried to just clear his mind. He wasn't even entirely sure what he had been dreaming about, after waking up he couldn't remember, he just knew that he didn't want to go back to sleep so that he wouldn't have to see it again.

Kyran stared over at Nanashi, waiting for some sort of response to let him know he had been awake… or something. He was somewhat relieved to hear him speak, if only to assure him without trying that he had indeed heard him and hadn’t imagined that yelp. He wasn’t really surprised to hear Nanashi say that he was fine. He hadn’t entirely expected Nanashi to outright tell him what was wrong anyway, if there was anything wrong. He continued to sit there at the edge of the bed just staring over at Nanashi silently. He shook his head automatically when Nanashi said that he was sorry and then realized that he couldn’t see the motion. “It’s alright.” He said softly. He wasn’t bothered by the fact that Nanashi had woke him up and honestly… had he not he probably would’ve slept the rest of the morning in that position and woken up with an even stiffer neck. At the thought he lifted his hand to rub his neck a little. “….Has that been happening lately?” He finally asked quietly. He assumed that by how quickly Nanashi had tried to pretend he was still asleep meant that this wasn’t exactly new to him. Otherwise he figured that Nanashi would’ve sat there upright or something trying to calm down and instead he had rather quickly rolled away from him and tried to act like he was sleeping. Had Nanashi not responded to him he would’ve left it alone and that he had just heard things. A lot of stuff had happened to Nanashi in the past few weeks… so he could imagine the stress that could put on him and imagine that it would cause problems with his sleeping.

Nanashi sighed quietly, realizing a little late that he probably could have just remained quiet and gotten away with not bothering Kyran, but he was a bit conditioned to simply answer when spoken to. "Mmm..." he muttered quietly after Kyran had told him that it was alright, waking him that was. He continued to lay there without moving until Kyran asked him if that had been happening lately. He sighed quietly and lowered his eyes down to his pillow. "...A little," he mumbled quietly, sounding a bit reluctant to even admit that much. It happened at least once a nice anymore. He had been having some pretty strange dreams for a good while, at least since they had been at the water territory, but things had only really gotten bad after what had happened with that group of hunters. He still didn't offer to move for a few moments but finally he just pushed himself upright and looked down at his knees before he pulled them both up to his chest and wrapped his arms around them while letting his chin rest on top of his knees lightly. "...It's nothing to worry about," he told him quietly. He was sure it would go away on it's own eventually. It mostly only bothered him when he was alone, which anymore usually wasn't all that often, although apparently even having someone in the same room with him wasn't quite helping things entirely. he shook his head a little and then leaned back against the headboard and stared up at the chandelier. "...You can go back to sleep," he told him quietly, "I'm alright."

Kyran continued to sit there for a few silent moments while he watched Nanashi sit up and for all intents and purposes, curl in on himself at the head of the bed. Not too much Nanashi said really surprised him when it came to stuff like this... or well, when it came to talking about himself and problems he was having. He never wanted to inconvenience anyone or worry anyone for that matter. He rolled his neck from one side to the other, working out what kinks he could before he pushed up off of the bed that he was using. He had heard Nanashi tell him that he could go back to sleep and that he was alright, but he didn't think that Nanashi looked alright. He had begun to feel like Nanashi was like a little brother at some point during this trip, so he couldn't just sit there and go back to sleep knowing something had woken him up like that. Then of course given Nanashi's body language, whatever it was had made him uncomfortable and he doubted that Nanashi would have an easy time getting back to sleep. Or well... from experience with his little sister Minako, he assumed that Nanashi wasn't going to fall back asleep easily or if at all. He edged over to Nanashi's bed and sank down on the edge of it without asking for permission. He brought his legs up and stretched them out before reaching over to Nanashi and putting his arm around his shoulders, giving him a small squeeze before relaxing a little against the headboard. "...You don't have to keep it to yourself with me, you know that." He told him softly. "If something is bothering you you can talk to me about it." He added quietly.

Nanashi kept his chin on his knees even after he had invited Kyran to go back to bed. He really didn't want to bother Kyran with all of his problems, especially not since the guy was having some serious ones of his own right now. He had already lost himself in his own thoughts by the time Kyran decided to get out of bed and come over to his. As soon as he felt the mattress move he startled and jerked his head up quickly. He wasn't surprised all that surprised to see Kyran there, he just hadn't quite expected him to get up and move over to sit with him, nor had he been paying attention. He looked at Kyran silently as he was draping his arm around him and suddenly found himself leaning against him once he had given him that little squeeze. He started to sit away from him again after he had relaxed, but hearing his words made him freeze in place. He didn't know why it was so surprising to hear him tell him that he didn't have to keep it to himself. He knew deep down that Kyran cared for him, but it was still so alien to him having anyone who really cared what was on his mind or what was bothering him. After another moment he sighed and relaxed back against Kyran again, letting his head rest against his collar bone while he stared down at some spot on the sheets. He was quiet for a long time...probably long enough to lead anyone to think that he just wasn't going to answer at all, and to be honest, he almost didn't. Finally, however, he sighed softly and lowered his head a little. "...I keep having all of these dreams," he revealed quietly. "...More like nightmares...," he amended after a moment. He curled in on himself a little more and tried to angle his head so that Kyran wouldn't be able to see his face. "...I'm so tired, but I can't sleep.... I keep seeing things...things that I would rather forget." He shuddered a little involuntarily and tried to look away further. "I can't always remember when I wake up...it's been like this for a long time, but recently it's just gotten even worse. I keep remembering...that night at the water territory when I started changing...only there's no one there to help me. ...And more than that I still can't stop picturing that man's face," he whimpered in a voice that was so quiet that it would have been hard to hear had there been any noise in the room. He fell silent again and shook his head a little before slowly setting himself away from Kyran and burrowing his face in his knees. He hated the fact that he was so bothered by things that were already over and done with, but that mans' face was still haunting him, as was the memory of his encounter with death. He couldn't help but fear the worst was yet to come in this little venture. Already, he had brushed against death three or four times, at least once in each territory so far, starting with Caledonia. The only one he had managed to get away scratch free in was Kyran's territory...and from there on things only seemed to keep getting worse.
