Kanone didn't seem surprised in the least that Nero didn't respond to him suggestion that he at least try to have fun. Nero...really didn't even seem like he knew how to have fun for the most part. He shook his head a little and simply looked over to Nero again for a few moments before he chuckled again softly after Nero said that he had no idea where Celestine was. "Hmm...maybe he pulled a better hiding job than you did," he said lightly. "He didn't want to come to this either. You know how he is with people...." He smiled a little upon hearing that the only maid who wasn't completely terrified of him was the one who had brought him the coat. "Firra?" he asked lightly. He laughed softly and shook his head a little. "She's really nice, and she seems pretty down to earth compared to most of them. I think she likes you," he said simply. Of course he meant only as a person, not that he thought the girl had a crush on him. She seemed to like Nero a lot more than she liked him at any rate. She usually wound up glaring at him whenever he tried to joke around with her. He glanced away from Nero when he saw the others start to come into the room and smiled. "Heeey, there they are," he said lightly. "Awww look at Aamori!" He laughed a little when he saw Reyes and couldn't help shaking his head a little. "Wow...he really does look like she," he said a little more quietly.
Nanashi turned around for a moment after Kyran had said 'almost on cue' and looked at the door again. He smiled a little when he saw Aamori and Reyes come into the room. Both of them looked very nice, but that wasn't who he was looking for. He smiled at Aamori and then glanced past her at the doorway, looking for LaRae. As soon as he saw her his smile grew a little and he finally moved away from Kyran a little and raised his head a bit more so that he didn't look like he was quite so ready to hide. As soon as she got closer he smiled at her again, although he noticed that her horns were exposed. He already knew that she wasn't going to be very thrilled about that. "You look nice," he told her quietly, disregarding her horns entirely. He really didn't care that they were nothing more than broken stubs now. They were part of her, and he wasn't the type of person to focus on that sort of thing anyway. At that point, it didn't take very long for the guests to start pouring in. Thus far, the King and the two princesses were nowhere to be found, although no one seemed too surprised. They always tended to make a late entrance, it seemed. The maids had all gone and changed into nicer, form fitting gowns in different pastel shades, all except for Firra that is. She, as usual chose a darker shade of purple. Aside from Nero, she easily had the darkest colored attire in the room. The room was already getting close to filled, and still there was no real sign of Celestine anywhere. It had taken quite a while for the maid to find Celestine and get her wrestled into the dress as it was. After she had been all dolled up she had more or less refused to leave the dressing room at all. At last the maid had forced her out of the room and began practically dragging her down the hallway. Once they had reached the opening to the ballroom she pulled the wind girl in front of her and then practically shoved her into the room before going to change herself. Celestine was not thrilled at all with being forced to go to the party, not that he had much of any say in the matter. It was a challenge just to keep up with the maid in the high heeled, backless shoes he had been forced into. He was hardly used to wearing shoes as it was, so not only were these extremely uncomfortable, it took a little getting used to just to know how to put his foot down. Thankfully for him, his balance was extremely good and he didn't have to worry about stumbling too much, except for the time that she spent dragging him down the hall. As soon as the woman pushed him into the room he stumbled in a little, throwing out his arms a little to catch his balance, and causing the chiffon material that was attached to his arms to flow out beside him. The entire dress seemed to billow with his every movement, which in and of itself was a little annoying. He took one look around the room and absently crossed one arm over his middle to cling to his opposite elbow loosely. He merely stood in the doorway for a long moment, seriously debating on turning tail to run, but there were still people trying to flood the room, and he was somewhat blocking the entryway. He took a deep breath and swallowed before he started further into the room slowly, looking completely lost. He was too short to really see over everyone's heads to find the others, and there were dragons of several clans here, so it wasn't as if he could simply look for specific colors either. He lowered his gaze again slightly and lowered his head a bit, starting to try to weave his way shyly toward the back of the room. He knew that no one here would know any better than to think that he was a girl, but it was still extremely embarrassing, especially since there was a small group who was definitely going to know that he was not a girl...that was if they were even able to recognize him now that he was all decorated up like a girl and even had his feathers rather suddenly regrown, although the three green circles on his forehead and his golden pupils should have been enough to give him away if the wings themselves didn't do it. |
Nero really could've done without having to be at this party, especially once the girls showed up and Kanone had to point them out. Well, not that they really needed to be pointed out since there weren't a whole lot of people in the room. He just kinda stared at his cousin for a moment before shaking his head. Reyes had on shades as well, it couldn't be helped... but he still looked too much like a girl for his own good. He could not for the life of him think of anything nice to say about how his cousin looked and he didn't care about how any of the other girls looked so he just kinda kept his mouth shut even once Reyes had come close enough to stand next to him. It was almost sad just how easily Reyes could pass for a girl so it really didn't help with the dress he had on or the makeup... or the way his hair was done. What he wouldn't give to have a more masculine cousin hanging around him right now.
LaRae wandered after the girls and didn't really bother looking up too very much until she got closer to the group. She knew that most everyone in the group wouldn't really say anything about her horns or the mark on her back so that was where she thought she would be most comfortable and honestly... she just kinda hoped that no one from her clan was here because they'd know what she was. Unfortunately she didn't think she was going to have that hope come to fruition. She didn't really give anyone a good look-see until she heard Nanashi say that she looked nice. Of course after hearing him she looked up at him a little timidly which was pretty unusual for her. Having her horns exposed along with her back and not being able to do a thing about it really made her uncomfortable and made her feel insecure. For a brief moment after she had lifted her eyes and really focused on Nanashi she seemed a little more herself. At least while she got a good look at him. She couldn't help but smile a little after seeing how good he looked. "You look really nice, too." She uttered quietly as she absently started to lift her hand to brush her hair back over her shoulder. She caught herself just in time and dropped her hand. She hated the maid for doing her hair the way she did. It hurt her head too much to let the mass of her hair hang anywhere but in front of the one shoulder and she had no idea how to take her hair down or else she'd have already done it. She seemed relatively okay for a little bit while she stood there, though as soon as people started to come into the room she made a b-line for the wall so that she could turn her back to it. If she couldn't hide her broken horns... at least she could hide the mark on her back.... she just had to stay against a wall, which didn't seem that hard to do. Aamori of course had gone straight to stand near Kanone since she hadn't seen Celestine. She was kind of surprised not to see him with Kanone, or anyone for that matter. She couldn't help but smile, or well, almost snicker at seeing Kanone. "You clean up well." She teased since this was the first time she'd ever seen him in anything quite so elaborate. She of course gave the room another once over after a few moments, expecting to have seen Celestine come in at any moment but when she hadn't seen anyone by the time that other people started filtering in she had to glance back to Kanone. "Any idea where Celestine is?" She asked, almost worried that he'd disappeared somewhere, or something. |
Nanashi smiled a little when LaRae raised her head and actually looked at him. His face started to color a shade of red when she complimented him on his appearance, not that it was overly noticeable on his copper complexion. He laughed meekly and shook his head a little. "...I think the maids had a little too much fun...," he commented quietly. He watched as she started to flip her hair back over her shoulder and then titled his head a little whens he stopped herself. It only then dawned on him that the mark on her back was visible as well. He sighed softly and shook his head a little, knowing that was another thing that she was not going to be too thrilled about. He glanced over toward the door once even more people started to flood the room and then glanced back to LaRae when she suddenly took off for the was. "Uh...," he started, although he merely stood there looking after her blankly for a few moments. After she had turned and pressed her back up against the wall he sighed softly and glanced back to Kyran for a moment. "...I'm going to go stand with her...," he told him quietly. Frankly, he would be much more comfortable being a wall flower as well, so he didn't waste much time taking up a section of the wall next to LaRae. He leaned forward slightly to get another look at her face and then smiled. "You really do look nice...," he told her softly, "...well...nicer than usual." He always thought that LaRae looked nice, even when she was in her regular clothes, so seeing her all dressed up was just a bonus.
Kanone smiled warmly when Aamori and Reyes came over to stand near them. "Well now, don't you ladies look lovely," he commented, since he knew that it was supposed to be a secret that Reyes was a boy. He laughed again when Aamori told him that he cleaned up well. "So do you," he said lightly as he stuck his tongue out at her playfully. He searched the room himself for a few moments after Aamori had asked him about Celestine. "I haven't the slightest.... I'm seriously starting to think he just decided to duck and cover until this whole thing blows over. He's been griping on and off about it all day." He laughed a little and then shrugged his shoulders a bit. "He may show up eventually," he said simply as he looked back out toward the rest of the room. Just about the time that he turned his head he saw a small young girl from his clan step out from behind a large group of light dragons who had congregated around to talk. He blinked as she started looking around as if she had no idea where she was going and then started to wander in their direction, the fabric on her dress billowing around her. "Wow...," he muttered quietly to himself. He couldn't seem to stop staring at the girl. Her movements were so graceful, it was hard not to want to watch her, although he wasn't the only one looking. Before long the girl seemed to notice him looking, although as soon as she turned her entire face towards him, his entire fact turned red and he raised he nearly choked. Dressed up or not, he'd know those eyes anywhere. "Oh gods...," was all he was able to get out before he was overcome with a fit of embarrassed laughter. Celestine really had no idea where it was he was wandering, although he was trying his best to ignore all of the looks he was getting. There were quite a few gorgeous women here, but still he seemed to be drawing a bit of attention without even trying to. The maid had done a very good job with both his hair and choosing a dress that suited him, so it was hard to tell that he wasn't a girl at all. It wasn't until he was almost upon the others that he happened to look up and see Kanone staring at him the same way the others were. As soon as he spotted him his eyes narrowed and he watched as Kanone's face turned red once he had realized who it was he was looking at. He stopped short and crossed his arms over his chest, his own face turning a few shades of red. He looked like he would have loved nothing more than to take off his heels and pelt Kanone in the face with them. He gave all of them a nice glare and folded his arms a little more tightly. "Not one word...," he growled irritably. |
LaRae didn't really have a comment on whether or not the maids had had a little too much fun with him. Part of her thought that much makeup on a guy was a little weird but there was no denying that it looked really nice. Once she had positioned herself against the wall she felt some small portion of relief... though it wasn't much. There were indeed members of her clan in the room. She couldn't do a headcount but there were enough that it made her more uncomfortable... but then again, even one would make her uncomfortable. She hadn't expected Nanashi to come stand with her but she wasn't surprised. She was actually kind of glad that he had. It kind of gave her something else to focus on, or at least she hoped it would. She peeled her eyes away from the crowd and focused on Nanashi when he made a point of leaning forward and looking at her again. She couldn't help but blush a little since he was reiterating what he had already said. "....Thanks..." She mumbled quietly. She wasn't really fond of the way she looked and she was utterly uncomfortable but she supposed she did look alright. Even with that... she was eager to get this night over with so that she could figure out how to get out of everything she was wearing along with get her hair down. She had a feeling she was going to need someones assistance with.... everything.
Aamori like Reyes smiled when Kanone said that they looked lovely but easily turned around and stuck her tongue out right back at him when he did and said that she cleaned up well too. She may have been able to dress up really nice and look like a lady but put her around the right person and her lady-like manners could go right out the window. She made a bit of a face when Kanone had answered her about Celestine and said that he was starting to think Celestine had bailed. She hated to think that Celestine wouldn't be here and was surprised that he hadn't already been here with the rest of the guys. She just kind of nodded her head a little when he said that Celestine may show up eventually. She hoped he did... the last time they were all at a function relatively similar to this things hadn't... quite... gone well. Okay... it wasn't that similar... but it was still a joyous occasion and the last one... sucked, to put it bluntly. She couldn't help but notice the way that Kanone was staring off at something and of course she tried to see whatever it was he was looking at like he had been though she didn't quite zone in on what he had been looking at before she heard him start laughing. Her eyes shot back to Kanone for a moment and she looked a little worried, or concerned and even a little confused... at least until she brought her eyes up again and started to look for what had made him react like this. It didn't take her long to spot what it was since it was coming towards them. Of course she realized after a second or two who it was she was looking at and she just kind of stood there stunned with her hand in front of her mouth. She didn't entirely find this funny. Sure it was kind of humorous to see Celestine dressed up so pretty... but she could feel his embarrassment and she hated to think the trouble he had gone through trying not to be seen like this. She couldn't really help but stare at him, her hand still partially over her mouth. She was at a loss for words and she wasn't really sure that there was anything that could be said that would make him feel better and she certainly wasn't going to tell him how pretty he looked. Nero just kind of cocked an eyebrow when Kanone burst out laughing like he did. He hadn't bothered to look around and had been keeping his eyes to himself mostly, save for a couple quick glances to see who all was staring at him or his cousin. He did have to look though when Kanone wound up laughing like he did and he tried really, really, hard not to laugh when he saw Celestine. His lips twitched up at the corners as he bit back the urge to even smile. Oh how the world worked some days. Not only had Reyes been done up like a chick but so had Celestine and they both looked way too pretty for their own good. Celestine though... he caught eyes the way Reyes could only dream of and that in itself was funny. He shook his head and leaned towards Kanone very slightly before uttering quietly. "Welcome to my world." He knew his cousin was pretty and he knew he was pretty for a dark dragon. Dark dragon girls were beautiful and a lot of them could look sexy without even trying... Reyes... he just looked pretty. There wasn't an ounce of sexy to the guy, he just did innocent and pretty better than any dark dragon female he knew and that was creepy. |
Nanashi smiled again slightly when LaRae seemed to have relaxed a little bit and even blushed at his comment about her looks. He raised one hand up to her face and touched her cheek just below one of the painted on leaves. "They did a really nice job, they almost look real," he commented quietly. He blinked when the sleeve of his shirt slid down enough to reveal his forearm and quickly lowered his hand, pulling his sleeve back down to cover it. He hadn't been allowed to wear his gloves either so the scars on his arm were rather easily visible when the sleeve fell. He laughed weakly once they were covered and shook his head a little. "...Looks like all of us are a little more exposed than we care to be...," he commented quietly. Of course, he had a much easier time covering up his scars than LaRae did the things that she was embarrassed about. He simply needed to keep his arms down at all times.
Kanone seemed entirely incapable on controlling his laughter, much like the time that Sri had asked him if Celestine was his girlfriend. His laughter only seemed to worsen when Nero leaned over to him and said 'welcome to my world'. He wasn't so sure that the comment was fitting considering that he was pretty sure that Celestine was not dressed up that way voluntarily, but he still couldn't help but laugh. Once he finally managed to get a bit of a grip on himself he cracked open his eyes and looked at Celestine again, unable to keep the amusement from his eyes. "Well...you look...pretty," he said with another laugh, "I almost asked you to dance," he admitted with another series of laughs. Celestine's face was turning more and more red by the moment, although he finally nearly exploded when Kanone stopped laughing long enough to speak. He threw his arms down at his sides and balled his hands into fists, glaring at his idiot cousin angrily. "Shut up! It's not funny!" he snapped at him, looking as if he was close to just crying....or hitting him, it was really hard to tell which at the moment. He started to raise a hand but then just wound up crossing both of them over his chest again and looking away all together. Kanone's laughter finally died away a little when Celestine glared at him that way. He may not have been the nicest guy in the world to Celestine, but he did at least know when he was carrying things too far. He sighed softly and stepped away from the wall, sobering up quite nicely. "Okay, okay, calm down," he said calmly, "I'm sorry, alright? Come on, give me a break, I actually thought you were a girl for a minute. You think I'm not embarrassed?" He smiled a little and placed a hand on his shoulder lightly. "I'm not too sure how you wound up in the girl's dressing room, but I have a feeling it wasn't your idea." Celestine glowered at Kanone as soon as he came up to apologize and raised a hand as if he was about to backhand Kanone's hand away from him, but after taking a second he just dropped his hand and crossed his arms again, glaring at the floor. "Idiot," he muttered when Kanone admitted to having thought he was a girl for a minute. He did at least seem to calm down a little bit once Kanone stopped laughing and started using a more compassionate tone rather than joke around with him. Clearly, he wasn't in much of a joking mood. "Of course it wasn't my idea!" he snapped back irritably once again. "I told that woman that I was a boy and refused to wear women's clothes and she just told me that trick wasn't going to work and that I wasn't getting out of it. And then she made me go shower in the girl's room...and came back in long enough to make off with my clothes, leaving me this to put on!" he fumed. Kanone couldn't help but laugh again at the way Celestine was fuming. He could almost see the steam rising from the top of his head. "Aww, come on, it's not that bad. No one's going to know. Well, aside form us," he amended with another snicker. "Oh shut up!" he snapped again before he glanced back over his shoulder timidly. He could practically feel eyes on him, although he had a feeling most of it was his imagination. He started to step closer to Kanone, although when he put his foot down the heel of his shoes turned over, causing him to topple over. He tried to catch himself, but only wound up staggering until he fell into the center of Nero's chest. Had he not been standing there, he probably would have cracked his nose on the wall. |
LaRae smiled a little again when Nanashi touched her cheek and commented on the job the maid had done on her face. She had to agree though, the maid had done a really good job and the leaves really did almost look real. That was probably a good part of the reason that she hadn’t just rushed and washed her face at the first chance she got. She couldn’t help but eye his arm when he noticed it and had dropped it back down to his side so that the scars on his arms were covered. She felt a little bad that he hadn’t been allowed to wear his gloves. She knew that made him more comfortable and obviously since he wasn’t wearing gloves the maids hadn’t let him. She supposed he was lucky enough to have been permitted a headband. At least he got to keep something covered up. She smiled a little weakly when he said that it looked like all of them were a little more exposed than they cared to be. Honestly… she didn’t see anyone but her and Nanashi who really had anything to hide. She had been vaguely paying attention to what was going on with Kanone and Celestine… yes… that was Celestine… in a dress. She was prepared to get a little lost in what was going on there but she caught sight of something familiar from the corner of her eye and it drew her attention to try and look for what she had thought she had seen. She didn’t leave the safety of the wall but she did lean forward a little and look around a little, trying to see around people in the crowd or through them… she wished she could just see through them and she really hoped she hadn’t seen what she thought she saw.
Nero had been paying attention, almost absently to everything that was being said between Kanone and Celestine. He didn’t particularly care to listen in but he couldn’t help it. He had still been standing there with his arms crossed over his chest, not saying a word or even looking at the two of them as they spoke. He was just listening silently. He hadn’t quite expected to wind up with Celestine falling into him but he had been paying enough attention to see it happening and had managed to put his arms out and around Celestine to keep him from falling anywhere else. He kept his arms around Celestine until the kid managed to get his feet back under him and then he let him go altogether without so much as a word. He supposed somewhere he felt a little bad for Celestine and the kid didn’t need to wind up on the floor because of some heels he was wearing on top of everything else he had been put through. |
Nanashi didn't really have too much to say really, considering that LaRae was being so quiet. He wasn't too terribly concerned about not having his gloves to cover his arms, although he really would have liked to have had them covered just in case he did happen to raise his arms. After all, the fact that he was frequently torn open by other dragons' claws, while probably common knowledge, was not something that he wanted to display. He turned his head a little when he caught sight of what he thought at first was a wind dragon girl, but it didn't take him long to put two and two together. Feathered wings weren't all that common and he knew that horn and that hair. He blinked and could help but stare for a moment before he looked away, though it was hard to tell if he seemed amused by the sight or simply felt sorry for Celestine being stuck in that situation. He knew that the boy had to be embarrassed, even without seeing his face. He turned his gaze back to the side again when he noticed LaRae leaning forward as if she was trying to see something in the crowd. He raised his head a little, but he didn't particularly see anyone he knew. He half wondered if Selenity had shown up or something. "...What is it?" he asked after a moment before he turned his gaze back over to LaRae.
After falling into Nero's chest Celestine seemed to practically freeze with his face buried there for a few seconds before he straightened up his foot and backed away. As soon as he backed up it was obvious to see that his face was cherry red all over again. "Sorry," he muttered quietly under his breath without even raising his eyes. Kanone had thrown out his arm to try to catch Celestine, but he didn't really get the chance to before Nero had already grabbed him. He smiled weakly and watched as Celestine straightened himself up. "That wasn't very graceful," he teased softly. "I'd like to see you walk in these things," Celestine grumbled back. "Oh? Fine me a pair that fits," Kanone responded with a grin. He laughed again when Celestine just gave him another red-faced exasperated look. "You know I think I've figured out what your problem is," he said simply as he put a hand on top of Celestine's head. "You care too much." Celestine glowered at Kanone for a moment and then raised his hand to shove Kanone's away from his hand. "And yours is that you don't care at all." He shooed Kanone's hand away and then checked to make sure that his hair wasn't messed up, not that he could really tell. "Do. Not. Touch. My hair. I don't need that lunatic maid trying to fix it again...." he grumbled. "I don't think you will have to worry about that," Firra chimed flatly. Many of the maids hand been handed trays of drinks in crystal glasses to pass round to those who wanted one, although obviously, none of them had ventured over to this side of the room. "I heard Eilwen complaining in the dressing room about the wind dragon girl being even more stubborn about dressing up than the earth one. LaRae was putting up a fight to not have to wear a dress as well. Eil was pretty surprised when I told her there wasn't a female wind dragon in the group. If she sees you again she will probably just pretend that she didn't." Her expression never really changed as she spoke, and neither did her matter-of-fact tone. "Is anyone thirsty?" she asked seconds later, getting straight to the point as to why she was standing there. Celestine startled when he heard someone speak behind him and turned around quickly to look at the maid for a moment. He sighed both in relief and frustration that the woman had found out that he really was a boy. Relieved because he doubted that the woman would bother him again, but by now it was a little too late. "Great...." |
LaRae continued glancing around a little without really bothering to leave the wall she was standing against. If she hadn't been as exposed as she was she might have ventured out into the crowd a little in an attempt to quiet her suspicion. She told her herself that she had to be seeing things. There were too many people here for her to recognize one and besides, what would He be doing here of all places. She finally gave in a little and let it go. She hadn't seen anything, she had most likely mistaken someone for that jerk. She looked vaguely embarrassed when Nanashi asked her what it was. She hadn't thought she was looking around that obviously but apparently she had. She shook her head a little automatically. "It's nothing... just thought I recognized someone." She said quietly and left it at that. She didn't want to put Nanashi on edge by telling him who she thought she saw, especially if she hadn't really seen him. She stayed relative quiet after that, or tried to. She couldn't help but glance towards Firra when she happened by with drinks and started explaining things to Celestine. She abruptly looked away and looked thoroughly embarrassed. She hadn't known that her little fit in the dressing room would have repercussions like this. It wasn't completely her fault that Celestine wound up dressed like a girl... but they might have listened to him if she hadn't thrown a fit.
Nero didn't make a big deal out of Celestine falling into him and left his apology where it lie. Once his hands were free he almost automatically crossed his arms at his chest again. He continued to stay quiet while Kanone and Celestine bickered a little more though his attention shifted to Firra once she had wound up coming over. He wasn't really surprised to see her. Of all the maids she was pretty much the only one who'd bother coming anywhere near him or anyone who was around him. He just stood there against the wall and shook his head slightly hearing that LaRae had thrown a fit about putting on a dress and that was part of the reason no one had listened to Celestine. That kind of annoyed him just a little because girls were supposed to wear dresses at things like this and she should've been happy to get dressed up just like everyone else was, well, save the boys. None of them looked too thrilled about being painted up... well... his cousin was an exception. Reyes was just too overly thrilled about all of this for his tastes. He eyed the tray of drinks that Firra had brought over after she asked if anyone was thirsty. He couldn't help thinking he'd kind of like to get back at someone for everything that had been done to him along with the fact that he couldn't get away with not being at this party. Part of him also wanted to throw some of the eyes off of him, at least for a little while and he was pretty sure that Firra could handle it. She was getting eyed enough as it was and all she was doing was bringing drinks over to them. He smirked slightly thinking he'd give them all something to really stare at her for. Without much warning he pushed off of the wall and with ease lifted the tray from Firra with one hand and passed it off on Kanone. "Look after that for a moment." He told him without looking at him and then snatched up Firra's hand in his and started leading her, willingly or not, for the dance floor. "Dance with me." He told her, rather than asked. He knew she couldn't say no, not without making a big scene and then he'd just use that to his advantage later if he had to. |
Nanashi tilted his head a little when LaRae told him that it was nothing and that she had just thought that she recognized someone. He shifted a bit uncomfortably, but he didn't bother to press for more information. Knowing what little he did about her clan and her 'family' he wasn't so sure he wanted to run into anyone that LaRae may recognize. He too took a look at Firra when she came over, although he hadn't been paying too much attention to the way that the light dragons mostly seemed to be trying to glue themselves to the other side of the room. After a moment he looked around briefly and really took notice of it before ducking his head again. He guessed they did seem like a really motley crew, especially for a place like this. Two dark dragons were strange enough, and he imagined having a halfbreed at a royal ball was a bit odd...but really, the only ones in the group who really seemed to fit in were Kyran, Aamori, and...well, Celestine, when he wasn't falling down or looking ready to kill someone, at least while he was dressed like that. Kanone may have been cleaned up but he still looked far too aloof for a place such as this and LaRae, while she looked gorgeous to him did not seem like the type of person who would be found in a place like this either. Those broken horns made her seem more rugged than what one wound normally find in a dress like that or in a castle surrounded by people who were all glam. These women mostly reminded him of the type who would throw a fit if they broke a nail. Of course there were still some more exotic looking people here who were obviously just visiting, but for the most part the majority seemed polished and well refined. He blinked when the maid told Celestine that LaRae had thrown a fit to wear men's clothing and then glanced over to her for a moment, just in time to see her look away in embarrassment.
Firra waited silently for anyone who wanted a drink to either take one or ask for one and let her hand them the thing, although she was preparing to leave since no one was really speaking up. However, she was a bit taken aback when Nero reached up and took the tray from her. "Hey, not all of them!" she protested. She watched as he started to pass the tray off to his roommate and then started to raise her hands to take it back. "What are you--," she started, although she didn't even get to finish the sentence before he had snatched her hand. "You want me to what?" she blurted, looking obviously stunned. She stumbled forward as he started to pull her toward the dance floor. "No! Gah, let go of me you over-zealous lunatic! I don't dance! Erg, Nero!" she complained all the way to the dance floor, although not loudly enough to really cause much more of a scene than him pulling her to the dance floor was causing. As soon as they made it to the dance floor a good majority of the people cleared it quickly, namely the light clan, although even the others left quite a large space around them. Firra's face was already starting to go red as she looked up at Nero again. "Nero, I can't dance!" she hissed at him quietly, although she still placed a hand on his shoulder, even though she did look a bit miffed about doing so. Kanone blinked when Nero passed him the tray of drinks and simply stared down at them for a moment before looking back to Nero and Firra. He laughed slightly when he heard Nero tell Firra to dance with him. "Haha...looks like he's going to have some fun after all," he said playfully. He stood there for a few moments with the tray and then looked around slightly before slowly standing away from the wall. He edged over to sideways to stand next to Kyran. "So...want a drink?" he asked as he glanced up at him from the corner of his eye. |
Nero wouldn't say that he was the best dancer in the world and he wasn't nearly as good as Kyran but he'd had to have a few lessons given his profession and his fathers. There were the occasional parties that had to be attended and of course you were expected to know how to dance. Then of course Kana liked to dance so it was almost imperative that he had learned how to move on his feet and in time to music. He had taken Firra's hand the way one might normally lead a lady to the dance floor but he had enough bottled up tension in his arm that it would've taken a little more to get free of him. He wasn't trying to be threatening he just didn't want to give her an easy out. It'd look so much worse to see her scurry off on him. He ignored her complaints, partially because he didn't care and partially because it didn't matter if she couldn't dance. With a good lead even the most ungraceful people could dance fairly well. He wasn't the least bit surprised to see that by his approaching the dance floor it had nearly cleared it out. He supposed if anything he was almost a little surprised that anyone had stayed. Once he had stopped he automatically moved to face her and took the one hand and adjusted it a little before taking his other and gently setting it under her shoulder blade. He didn't really look the least bit fazed by what he had done and he kept a pretty straight face as he looked down at Firra. He did finally smile just a tiny bit, noticing how red her face was getting. "Don't worry so much." He told her quietly. "I'll lead, you just follow and relax. It isn't hard." He paused. "You get too stiff and you won't follow easily." He smiled again slightly. "...Trust me, you'll be alright." He said softly before leading her into a simple enough waltz.
Kyran had just kind of been standing there quietly keeping an eye on everyone. It was in his nature to do that and honestly he was kinda of comfortable just keeping to himself and watching the others. He had been surprised by Celestine showing up dressed like a girl. He had also been surprised by Nero dragging Firra off to dance. He had been watching Nero and Firra, partially out of curiosity. It was... so unlike Nero to do something like this so he was interested in watching. He blinked and glanced to the side, looking at Kanone and then the tray and then shook his head a little with a quiet chuckle. "Thank you." He reached over and removed a drink the from the tray and held it up in his hand while he glanced back towards the dance floor. "....Is this some sort of bet or something between the two of you?" He really wouldn't be surprised to hear it. |
Firra continued to stare up at Nero once he had looked down at her, although her face only reddened a little more when Nero smiled at her like that. She already knew that she was going to embarrass herself. She didn't care about being seen with Nero, but she by no means had any care to dance with him, or anyone else for that matter. She couldn't dance, she'd never danced a step in her life. She glanced down when he placed his hand on her side and then looked back up at him, her eyes narrowing just a little when he told her that it wasn't hard. "Speak for yourself," she grumbled quietly. She finally sighed and relaxed herself a little, apparently ready to just give in and get it over with, although she still looked a little miffed about it. After a moment she shook her head a little and just waited for him to start. She tried her best to follow and keep up with him, although after just a few moments, she noticed that the music somewhat died away. Naturally, for the time being, all of the musicians were light dragons, and ever one of them had taken to staring and forgot that they were the ones producing the music. None of them looked like they had intentionally stopped because they didn't want to play for them, they all just seemed to be too stunned to move. She pulled to a stop and looked over at them for a moment before raising an eyebrow. "Are you going to play or not?" she asked simply. It didn't take more than that comment for the group to realize that they had stopped to gawk and hastily reposition their instruments to start the music over. She shook her head and sighed again before looking back up to Nero again. Most of the people in the room were staring at the two of them like this was the most scandalous thing that they had ever seen...and honestly, it probably was. A dark dragon, dancing with a light dragon...and a maid, no less. No one ever danced with the maids, that was like dancing with a coat wrack to most of these people. "...You know I am never going to live this down, don't you?" she said flatly as she stumbled around trying to keep up with him. There were already rumors flying amongst the other maids about the two of them...she knew that this really wasn't going to help them one bit.
Kanone grinned when Kyran gave in and took a drink from the tray. "No problem, sir," he said in a more formal sounding voice, as if he were trying to imitate a butler. He looked back out to the dance floor after Kyran had taken a drink and then laughed when Kyran asked him if this was some sort of a bet between them. "Nope, I had nothing to do with this one," he said honestly, laughing again. "He did this one on his own...so this is either a thank you for going out of your way for me, or...payback. Probably payback." He chuckled again quietly and then shook his head a little just before Firra made a comment at the orchestra. She certainly was an outspoken for a maid. |
Nero couldn't help but smile a little at all the grumbling Firra was doing about dancing with him. It really wasn't that bad or that hard. Hell, his five year old sister could dance with him just fine so surely Firra could follow him easily enough. He had heard the music die and had intended to keep going even if they weren't going to continue playing, but he eased to a stop easily enough when Firra had wanted to stop. He just kind of shook his head a little at her having to remind the orchestra that they made the music and that they had stopped playing. He waited for the music to start up again and then started the lead over and the count as well. He was trying his very best not to make this too difficult on Firra since she had said she couldn't dance. That was a farce... anyone could dance. It just took time and patience. He eased into steps a little more slowly when needed, when it looked like she needed to catch up and sped up when he was sure it was safe, trying to seamlessly blend as much of it as possible to hide any real flaws... not that there would be any that were noticeable unless she flat out stomped on his foot or something. He glanced down at her momentarily when she said what she had about her not living this down. He merely nodded his head a little. "I figured since they were staring at you, they should have a good reason to stare." He said quietly. He was quiet for a moment and then spoke again. "...Plus, I wanted something in return for letting you paint me up like this." He said with a lightly teasing tone.
Kyran shook his head a little with a faint smile when Kanone responded the way that he did after he had taken a drink. He just kind of stared out at the dance floor after Kanone had said that he had had nothing to do with this one and that it was probably payback. Again... he wasn't really surprised, he supposed. He took a sip of his drink just before the orchestra dropped off and couldn't help but shake his head at that. Of course they'd stop playing and gawk at that. Some professionals they were. He guessed he shouldn't have been surprised that the orchestra stopped like they had since there were light dragons... but even still they shouldn't have stopped like that. Reyes had been surprised that Nero had taken Firra to dance. Nero didn't really even willing dance back home in their territory. It had almost always been a chore for him but he supposed that was because Kana liked it, a lot. He stayed where he was for a few moments just watching after the orchestra had finally started back up again. He glanced to Celestine very briefly and then turned his eyes back to the dance floor. If Celestine hadn't been dressed the way he was he probably would've asked Celestine to dance but he wasn't sure he wanted to make Celestine any more uncomfortable than he already was. He looked to Kanone then and smiled a little before walking over to him and slipping the try out of his hands much the same way that Nero had done to Firra, with the exception of his height being different. He very quickly turned the tray on Aamori and made her hold it before grabbing Kanone's wrist and tugging him after Nero and Firra. "C'mon, lets not leave them out there all alone." He said with an excited smile. |
Firra still wasn't very comfortable with the whole dance ordeal, although that was mainly because she was quite used to being the wall flower as well. Up until recently, no one ever really paid her any mind. She had always been Selenity's favorite maid to call on and probably one of the most efficient, but the others had never really spoken to her or talked about her other than to think she was weird for wearing dark purples rather than pastel colors like everyone else. She tried her best to keep up with Nero's pace and follow his feet without stepping on them, although once she nearly stumbled over her dress by lifting her foot too high while backing up and stepping on the hem. She was no longer wearing the short maid dress she had been before, but a long evening gown. It was easy to walk in to do what she needed for her job, but wasn't quite so great for backing up the way one needed to in a dance like this, at least not for someone who wasn't entirely used to maneuvering around in floor length dresses. She let out a disgruntled huff when she nearly tripped and then stepped in a little closer to Nero almost like she was half ready to hide her face in his chest. "Gee, thanks a lost," she muttered when he said that he thought that they should have a good reason to stare at her. She looked up at him again when he said that he wanted something in return for letting her paint him up like that. "Oh yeah? Next time you may come out looking like Kanone," she threatened. She half smiled and then shook her head a little. "You certainly enjoy making people question my dignity," she commented simply, not really seeming too concerned with it. "The next thing you know they're going to have us as an item."
Kanone wasn't entirely surprised that the orchestra got too distracted watching what was going on to continue playing. One member had glanced up and saw who was dancing and stopped to gawk, which eventually caused the others to look up to see why the one had stopped and slowly formed a chain of members stopping to see what was up with the others and why they had stopped playing. He imagined it was quite a sight to see, but he thought that both of them handled it pretty well. He continued to stand there watching the two of them until he felt the tray being pulled from his hands. "Ahh!" he yelped at first, thinking he was about to drop it, although he relaxed when he saw that Reyes was stealing it from him. He stared at him for a moment when he had shoved the tray off on Aamori. "Erm...," he started, but he didn't really get to go much further than that before Reyes had stolen his hand and started to pull him toward the dance floor. "Erm...okay," he agreed easily enough. He had to admit that it was a little awkward knowing that Reyes was a boy...and even more so that Reyes had no idea that he knew that he was a boy, but he didn't fight him. After all, no one else was going to know that he was a boy, either, and even if they did...well...who really cares? As soon as they got out on the floor he smiled a little and took Reyes' hand in his before placing his other hand on his side, below his arm. He stood still for a moment and then tilted his head a little. "So, I hope you're not expecting a lot. I've never even seen the inside of a ballroom before we came here, so I have no idea what I'm doing," he warned him with a bit of a grin. He glanced over to Nero for a moment trying to watch him. He mimicked him for all of about two steps, but after a moment he just shook his head. "Ah, forget it," he said casually before he just pulled Reyes a little closer and put his hand on his back rather than his side and started to dance in a way he was more familiar with. The style of dance that the wind clan was more used to wasn't very structured. There were no specific steps to follow or anything. They were a free-spirited breed, and their style dance easily reflected that. Even if it wasn't previously coordinated it still managed to flow with the music, or at least Kanone somehow managed. Reyes was somewhat on his own, although it probably wouldn't have been all that hard to keep up with him. Kanone was mostly gliding backwards and turning, so all Reyes really needed to do was follow him and or break loose and spin if he wanted...whatever. As far as Kanone was concerned, dancing was entirely free-style. |
Nero didn't put very much focus on the fact that Firra had stumbled. He just tried to cover it up as best as he could without losing her all together. He merely glanced down at her a little when she muttered what she had. He had lifted his eyes, at least until she made the comment that next time he may come out looking like Kanone. He scoffed quietly. "Like hell I would let you or any maid near my face again after hearing that." He'd almost rather let Sri paint him up if it had to be done again... at least then he could lay the blame of it looking like it did on the artist being so very young. He eyed Firra momentarily when she made the comment about him enjoying to make people question her dignity. "This is the first time that I have made you do anything where I am concerned." He said, though paused briefly to make sure that statement had been true. He continued to lead her in the dance but he had paused his train of thought to double check the correctness of what he had said. He raised a bit of a brow at Firra's next statement, saying that the next thing the gossipers where going to do was have them as an item. He couldn't help but laugh and it actually sounded happily amused. Although the moment he caught the lightness of his laugh he bit it back. "Do stories like that really make their rounds?" He asked with the smile still in his eyes from laughing. "I mean honestly... they can't really think you insane enough to find a dark dragon good enough for you. That's just silly banter."
Aamori fumbled a little with the tray when Reyes had handed it off to her. She hadn't expected it and honestly freaked out a little when it was suddenly in her hands and it was her job to make sure none of the remaining glasses toppled or hit the floor. She managed to steady the tray and it's contents though she didn't quite have the look of ease the maids did. She looked utterly uncomfortable and she was so focused on the glasses that she was half afraid that if she looked away she'd tip the tray the wrong way and make a huge mess. She was so intent on keeping things steady that she didn't even get to open her mouth and complain about being stuck holding everything while Reyes ran off with Kanone. She couldn't even pry her eyes from the tray for fear of toppling it. Of course she didn't dare move either. She knew she wasn't very stable in the heels she was in as it was and if she went to take a step she was liable to trip. It'd be her luck... she always tripped when she didn't want to. She may not have been able to split her attention in half and curse Reyes verbally for doing this to her but she certainly was having a word or two with, or at her, rather for this. |
Firra couldn't help but laugh quietly once to herself when Nero said that he wouldn't let her or any other maid near his face again. "Oh really?" she asked in an almost disbelieving tone. Of course she wouldn't really paint Nero's face up like Kanone's had been. For one...she wouldn't have the patience, and for another she wasn't quite mean spirited enough to do something that he really wouldn't like. She laughed again rather dryly when Nero said that this was the first thing that he had made her do concerning him. "Yes, the first thing you have made me do," she said simply. "Otherwise I've only been doing my job...and everyone else's," she added just sounded a tad annoyed. She titled her head a little when Nero actually laughed at her comment about them the others trying to set them up as being an item. "You think it's that funny?" she asked, sounding almost a little surprised. Nero was always so expressionless, it was hard to picture him laughing that way. Once again she tilted her head a bit when he bit back the laugh and then raised and eyebrow. "Naturally...," she responded simply. "I do all chores that revolve around tending to your room, I take care of your laundry, I show you around when needed, I serve your meals, I've taken up volunteering for the job just to get it done faster." She sighed and shrugged her shoulders a little. "They're not happy unless there is something to talk about." She glanced up at him again when he said that they couldn't think that she was insane enough to find a dark dragon good enough for her. "Why not, are all dark dragons scoundrels?" She closed her eyes and shrugged again when he said that all of that sort of talk was nothing but silly banter. "Most likely," she responded simply, "but then it's all silly banter to me. They are silly girls after all." She opened her eyes again, but kept then downcast since she had no real cares to look up into Nero's face at the moment. She had plenty more she could have added, but she didn't want to bore Nero to tears with her views on life and the way things worked.
Celestine glanced over to Aamori for a few moments when Reyes shoved the tray off on her and then moved closer to try to help her steady the thing at first, although once she had it he let go. "...Oh brother...," he groaned once Kanone was on the dance floor. He already knew that Kanone didn't know how to waltz. He didn't really know how to waltz either, so he wasn't surprised when Kanone decided to break out of the ordinary and dance they way that they normally might have at a more formal party. What Kanone was doing simulated a waltz...sort of, but with many more steps and spins, all of which were entirely driven by the music rather than any particular dance step. He stepped, slid, swirled and turned wherever the music told him to, and more or less dragged Reyes along for the ride. It didn't look bad...it was just as fluid and interesting to watch as any dance, but it still seemed to get some rather appalled looks from the audience...although that could have been simply because the dance floor had been taken over my dark dragons. Of course, Kanone, didn't seem to care. He was smiling like he didn't have a care in the world, and laughing along with it. Kanone liked to dance almost as much as Celestine did, although he was much more willing to do so in front of others than Celestine was. As Celestine had pointed out before...Kanone really didn't care at all when it came to how dignified he looked. After a moment he just groaned quietly and ducked his head a little before shifting over to practically hide behind Kyran. "...He is such an idiot...," he muttered quietly. |
Nero listened silently while Firra responded to him and paid extra attention to what all she had been doing for him, or that concerned him. He hadn't entirely realized that Firra had just been taking up the slack the other maids wouldn't do. Well, no, he knew she was doing more than her fair share when it came to him but he hadn't really thought that much about it. He merely smiled a tiny fraction when Firra asked why not and if all dark dragons were scoundrels. "I wouldn't say all were scoundrels, no, but most of them are too prideful for their own good." He admitted quietly. He knew that a good portion of the reason the dark clan was the way that it was, was because of their pride. The clan as a whole felt they were the best of the best and the only race of dragon that needed to be walking the planet... so... pride shaped a lot of how the dark dragons came out. But then... not all clans really wanted to believe it was nothing but an overabundance of pride that made the dark dragons what they were. Dark dragons killed seemingly no reason at all so it was probably easier to look at them as murderous dark monsters than anything else. He continued to lead her along in silence for a moment or two before speaking again. "...If the 'silly girls' opened their eyes and actually looked at what was going on they would see that you're only doing your job, plus the ones that they were too afraid to do." He paused. "They would also see that you're not taking on being my personal maid because you want to, but because you half to, in order to help keep everything else running smoothly in this place." He said quietly. "....Even if they banter back and forth and gossip about stuff like this, they will see one day that they were immature and they did a poor job of putting their job first and their personal lives second." He paused and smiled slightly. "And besides, this will give me mixed press which might, maybe, lighten your load." He couldn't be sure of that but he almost kind of hoped that some other maid saw that he wasn't being mean or hurtful towards Firra at the moment and he was actually being downright nice.
Aamori continued to eye the tray even after Celestine had helped and let it go. She had been rather thankful for his help to steady the tray but really... she didn't want to holding on to the tray to begin with. She wished that someone would wander by and take the tray from her. Neither Nero or Reyes were near them now so surely someone would come take it. She didn't dare try to take a step or walk anywhere. She just stood there, rather ungracefully looking and overly focused on the tray so it wouldn't drop. If she were more sure of herself and more well balanced when it came to these heels she would have tried walking towards one of the maids so she didn't have to hold onto the tray anymore... but she couldn't. She'd trip, or stumble, or something and there would be such a mess. Kyran glanced back over his shoulder slightly when Celestine came to stand behind him and muttered that his cousin was such an idiot. He just shook his head a little and took another sip of his drink. "He's just having fun." He said quietly as he lowered the glass from his lips. Sure Kanone wasn't doing the waltz like Nero was but what did it matter? It wasn't like there was a set in stone dance that had to be done at times like this. Sure, the waltz and other ballroom dances made more sense but with a dance floor as open as that it didn't really matter that Kanone wasn't being cookie-cutter. The only thing that was really even a bother was that he had people staring at him and Reyes but they'd have been doing that anyway since Reyes was a dark dragon. So long as neither of them cared, he didn't see what it mattered to follow the steps of a waltz... and besides, Reyes may not have understood what she was doing but she still looked like she was having fun. Part of that was probably because Kanone's personality could rub off on you. If he was happy and enjoying himself and laughing... it was kind of hard not to be happy too. Well... unless you were Celestine and embarrassed beyond belief. |
Firra half smiled when Nero said that not all dark dragons were scoundrels, that some were just too prideful for their own good. "Pride, huh?" she responded simply. "You don't seem too full of yourself," she said simply. She glanced over for a moment when she saw Kanone glide by them with Reyes in his arms. She shook her head a little and then glanced back to Nero again. "You do know that I'm not that concerned with that sort of thing...someone being good enough for me. That sounds pretty silly, really. I'm a maid." She thought it would be harder to find someone that she was good enough for. After all, she was no different from the dirt beneath the shoes of most of the people around here. She laughed a little when Nero said that the others would realize eventually that she was only doing her job as well as theirs...one of these days. "It really doesn't matter to me," she said simply. "I don't particularly mind being your personal maid...and it doesn't really matter to me what everyone things...thank the gods...." She shrugged tilted her head a little when he said that he was going to be getting some mixed press from this, perhaps. "Maybe," she responded simply, "Who knows. I haven't seen why anyone would be afraid of you, anyway. Selenity and her sister like you...you can't be that bad. If you don't frighten them, then you can't be bad."
Celestine glanced up to Kyran again for a moment when he said that Kanone was just having fun. "When isn't he having fun?" he asked dryly. He glanced over to Aamori for a moment, noticing the way that she was staring at the tray. He shifted positions a little and moved closer to her, starting to reach over to take the tray for her. He was still better balanced than Aamori was, even if he was stuck in heels. He hadn't had too much trouble walking in them, they just hurt his feet. Since he had been in them he had only stumbled twice, so he thought he would probably stand a better chance carrying the thing than Aamori did. No sooner had his fingertips touched the edge of the tray did he hear a voice behind him. "Um...e-excuse me," Jett muttered quietly. There were several guards around the room keeping an eye on everyone. Most of the guards were still in armor and armed, just in case...although Jett and Kyros were simply dressed nicely with short swords on their waist. They weren't really expected to keep up a specific post, so they were given the option of wandering around a little. He wasn't dressed as extravagantly as the other males, and his face lacked and form of paint, but he had still obviously tried to make himself presentable. He looked at Celestine for a moment after he spoke, his face turning slightly red. "Erm...would you...like to dance?" he asked rather shyly. No one had ever told them that they weren't allowed to dance, so he didn't really see any harm in asking. Celestine pulled his hands back long enough to turn around to see who was speaking to him. He blinked when he saw the somewhat familiar face. He had seen this cadet around before, usually with Ishta and that other obnoxious boy. He didn't say a word to him until he had asked him to dance. At that point his face started to turn red and he averted his eyes. He glanced up at Kyran for a moment almost as if he was silently begging him to shoo the guy away for him but then he looked away from him as well. "...I would rather not...," he said quietly, his face starting to turn even more red. He was already starting to wonder how many times this was going to happen before the night was out. Jett's face flushed a little more red when Celestine declined his offer and then took a step back. "O-oh...a-alright," he said quickly before offering up a slight bow. "Erm...well you...you look really nice," he said quickly. He looked away again and half looked like he was ready to scurry across the room and hide under the buffet table. "Um...please excuse me," he said finally before he started to turn and scurry away. He meant to offer to take the tray from Aamori, but by then he was so flustered that the offer slipped his mind. |
Nero nodded his head a little when Firra questioned him and said that he didn't seem too full of himself. "I have my moments." He admitted quietly. He had of course noticed Kanone and Reyes before they had glided by but hadn't bothered paying too much attention to them other than to know where they were at any given time. He stared down at Firra for a moment when she had said what she had and ended with the statement that she was a maid. "Just because you happen to be a maid by occupation, that doesn't make you any less of a woman than any of the others here." He paused. "You, like any other woman have the right to have whatever it is you want in a significant other regardless of what you are by occupation." He told her. "In my opinion anyway." He added. Just because she was a maid that didn't mean she couldn't aim high for a significant other if that was what she really wanted. Too many people paid too much attention to someone's job or bloodline when it came to looking for someone to love. Part of him felt like such a sap for having said what he did, but he was glad that they were on a semi-deserted dance floor with music playing. It'd make it a little hard for others to hear him talking quietly to her like he was. He sighed a little softly when Firra had said that she hadn't seen why anyone should be afraid of him and that since the Princesses liked him he couldn't be that bad. "...It's only natural for them to have trouble looking past the color of my scales. Given what's happened in the past some people just aren't as willing to get over the past and not hold every dark dragon accountable as the Princesses might be." He paused. "Plus, a lot of dragons are raised from young ages believing that we dark dragons are the boogiemen under their beds and in their closets... it's just the way things are." He shrugged a little. "You learn to get used to it, or ignore it."
Kyran watched momentarily as Celestine started to head for the tray that Aamori was stuck holding. He of course turned his attention towards Jett when he approached Celestine and absently watched as the guy tried to ask Celestine to dance. He couldn't help but shake his head a little after Jett had scurried away after being turned down. He didn't bother looking back to Celestine when he spoke. "That was a little heartless." He commented. "I mean it sounds like it took a lot for him to come and ask you for a dance and you just shattered all his hope." He shook his head again a little and left it at that. He knew that Celestine was uncomfortable being dressed up like a really pretty girl, but it wouldn't have killed him one bit to have just one dance with a guy. He imagined it took a lot for Jett to come over and ask and given who he was usually with he was bound to get teased by that other guard for being turned down like that, let alone the fact that he'd just scurried away like he had. He glanced back towards Aamori for a moment and gave in. He couldn't just leave her standing there like that with the tray even if he didn't particularly want to be stuck holding it either... but at least he wasn't worried about tipping it and making a mess. He still had his drink in one hand but moved over towards her and slipped his one hand under the tray and carefully lifted it up with his hand spread wide under it. He gave her a slight nod as a signal to let go and then lifted it up so that it was comfortably in his hand. "...I'll go find a maid to take this." He said with another brief nod before he started to wander off to locate a maid who'd take the tray off of all of their hands. Aamori was extremely relieved when Kyran came over and took the tray from her. She hadn't been able to pay much attention to anything else while she held it. She had heard Jett asking Celestine to dance but hadn't been able to really focus on that because as soon as she did the tray tipped just a little and she was afraid she'd have dropped it. She smiled appreciatively at Kyran as he took the tray and started to go look for a maid to take it from him. She let out a relieved sigh and dropped her arms to her sides before absently smoothing the front of her dress a little. She had wanted to say something to Celestine but still... she was kind of at a loss for words. She found it a little difficult to just go on talking to him like she normally would while he was dressed like that... and on top of that she wasn't sure what he might take the wrong way and she didn't want to piss him off any more than he already was. |
Firra only laughed a little dryly when he admitted that he had his moments. "Don't we all," she responded simply. She couldn't help but stare up at him when he told her that he had just as much right to whatever she wanted in a significant other as anyone else. "That's sweet and all...but you know as well as I do that that doesn't happen. This isn't a fairytail...what you're talking about doesn't exist in the real world." Obviously, Firra held onto no hopes of running into prince charming. She had stopped trying to make herself noticed long ago since it seemed like it was just a waste of time. She watched the other maids flirt around occasionally, but no one ever took them seriously. The sad part was, that they sometimes deluded themselves into thinking that they had caught someone's interest. She stared at Nero again when he said that it was only natural for them to react that way to him since some people just weren't willing to get over the past. "The past is the past...as far as I'm concerned that's where it should stay," she said simply. "Our clans have been fighting for so long that I doubt anyone even really remembers what we were fighting for in the first place. I was orphaned in one of those raids, as I'm sure some of your kind have been orphaned in our retaliations. It happens...this is war. That doesn't mean every person is involved in it." Of course she had no idea really that Nero was a part of the dark clan's military, but even still that wouldn't have really mattered to her. Militants were pawns in the scheme of things. They did what they were told by their upper ranks and their elders, and otherwise didn't really have much say in the matter.
Celestine muttered a quiet thanks when Jett complimented him, although he didn't sound too thrilled about it. He still felt a little relief when Jett gave up and hurried away from him, at least until Kyran had to go and open his mouth. He looked up at him and stared in disbelief when Kyran told him that telling the guy he'd rather not dance was a little heartless. He couldn't seem to do much other than stare at his with his mouth slightly ajar as he continued. After Kyran had finished, he couldn't even seen to come up with words for the outrage he felt. He couldn't believe that Kyran was trying to guilt trip him for not accepting the dance. Kyran wasn't the one standing here in a place surrounded by strangers while dressed like a girl. He really would have loved to have traded with Kyran right now and see him in a dress. Let a few males come and hit on him and stare at him and see how humiliating and uncomfortable it was and then see if he wanted to dance with any of them. He clenched his teeth and balled his hands at his sides as he glowered at him for a moment before looking away entirely and glaring at the wall while he crossed his arms over his chest. He wasn't sure if he was angry at Kyran for trying to make him feel bad or just hurt that he really had that little understanding of how humiliating this was to begin with. Whatever the cause he felt his eyes watering up on him, but he forcefully blinked back the tears. He wasn't going to stand there and cry and give people one more reason to look at him funny. By this point all that he wanted to do was go and hide himself somewhere, not that he had any real idea where to go. |
Nero merely shrugged a little after Firra had said her peace about this not being a fairytail. "Don't get me wrong, I know the world doesn't really operate that way." He paused. "But I never said that the guy had to be Royalty or anything. I mean, just because you are a maid that doesn't make you scum of the earth. A nice guy of decent class could come along and if you happen to like each other I don't see why it couldn't work. A job doesn't make the person who and what they are." Or at least he was able to tell that to other people. As far as he was concerned he was pretty much a murderer and that was because of his job. But being a maid didn't make you any less of a person. In his eyes he didn't really see why a maid couldn't be with someone like one of the guards or even someone like Ellior. Then again... none of that was really his business. The topic totally didn't need to have gone on as long as it had... and he certainly wasn't a relationship counselor or anything. He could do nothing but agree with Firra when she said that their clans had been fighting so long that they probably didn't even remember what had started it. He remained relatively silent while he spoke about having been orphaned in one of the raids. He didn't really know what to say to that. He knew that children on both sides wound up orphaned a lot but how did someone like him, who could've orphaned any number of people, say anything to her about it? He wouldn't admit it but he was a little uncomfortable after her having said that to him. He may not have been the cause of her being alone like that but it could've been someone he knew that did it. He wasn't a big fan of this war... so it bothered him some. Now that he was a little uncomfortable he took notice of the music and was noticing that this particular song was starting to come to an end. He wasn't sure how many songs they had danced through, or if they'd even gone through just one... but he was pretty sure he was done dancing. He started to smooth to a stop as closely alongside the music as he could and then started to lead her off the dance floor before letting her hand go completely and uttering quietly. "You should get back to work."
Aamori hadn't exactly paid close attention to what Kyran had said to Celestine but it was obvious that he was upset. Between his body language and just the way he had averted his eyes. She knew, or well, figured that it was really hard for Celestine to be dressed the way that he was. He had issues with being mistaken for a girl so of course it was worse that he was dressed like one and being mistaken for one at the same time. She moved a little closer to him and almost timidly reached over to set her hand on his, half afraid he was in such a sour mood that he'd just swat her hand away. ".....Do you want to ...see if we can find someone and get you changed..?" She asked quietly. She somewhat doubted that he'd want to be around anyone after all of this... so maybe it was pointless to ask that. If he were able to get out of this ballroom he probably wouldn't come back even if he had gotten to be re-dressed in mens clothes. Even thinking that now... she couldn't not have asked. She hated seeing him this uncomfortable and upset. |
Firra merely listened quietly when Nero started to tell her that the guy didn't have to be royalty or something. She knew well enough that that would never happen...considering there wasn't a male left amongst the royals. Even still, she wasn't holding out any high hopes for anyone of the upper class to notice her. She wasn't holding out much hope for the middle or lower class noticing her, either. Hell, everyone around here wanted to aim high, so she didn't foresee anyone looking in her direction twice. Typically, she didn't talk very much unless she was spoken to, and she wasn't quite as pretty as most of the others around here, although that probably could have been remedied if she actually took time to do her makeup and such. "I'll take your word for it," she said simply after he had finished, and refrained from adding 'I'm not holding my breath' to the end of it. She was a little surprised how hard he was trying to give her some hope that someone may notice her someday. It really was kind of strange really, coming from him at least. She wasn't offended, it really was just kind of strange hearing someone like him tell her to aim high when most would probably tell her to keep dreaming if she even thought about it. It didn't take much for her to notice the silence that had fallen over NEro after she had mentioned having been orphaned by someone in his clan, nor did it take much to realize that probably made him a bit uncomfortable. She didn't bother to speak again either until he had stopped dragging her around the dance floor and told her that she should get back to work. "Sure," she responded simply, starting to pull back her hands. She looked up at him again for a moment and simply stared at his glasses since she couldn't see his eyes. "...I'm sorry," she apologized quietly, "I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable. It isn't your fault." She took a couple of steps back and looked at him again. "Thanks for the dance...it was kind of fun," she admitted simply before starting to make her way back to the table where she had been working before she ended up taking the drinks over to the others. She had already taken notice that the tray had been taken from Kanone..and she didn't see anyone else holding it, at least not at first. It didn't take her too terribly long to find Kyran carrying the thing around trying to find someone to take it. She paused and changed directions, heading over to him and holding out her hands to take the tray. "Sorry about that," she said simply, even though it had kind of been more Nero's fault anyone else was holding it than her own. Now that she was free of Nero she was trying her best to ignore the eyes that were following her as she moved. Knowing that she was being watched like that almost made him want to smack him with that tray, but she made a good attempt at pretending she didn't notice the looks.
Celestine really wasn't in the best of moods. He was self-conscious enough without and maid's help, and he really hated being embarrassed. Even if he hadn't been dressed like a girl and someone asked him to dance he probably would have given then the same response because he really didn't want to get out there in front of all of those people. He had retreated back to this corner for a reason, and he was just a little stung that Kyran thought he was being mean because he was too embarrassed to go out there in front of all of those strangers and dance with a guy he didn't even know. He glanced down to Aamori's hand when she touched him and then raised his eyes to her face. He honestly looked like he just wanted to go drown himself in the lake or something out back. He thought about going to get changed for a few moments, but a lot of people had already seen him...and he did have some very obvious defining features about him such as his wings, horn, and eyes...not to mention that long head of hair. He sighed and looked away again closing his eyes. "...No...everyone's already seen me. Getting changed now would just look even more weird," he muttered quietly. He sighed again and just shook his head a little. "...I just want to leave...." It wasn't long after that last song had ended that a sudden hush fell over the room for a few moments as the king and his daughters made their way into the room. Everyone started to bow or curtsy as they passed and remained that way as they continued to where they were going. The kind himself was dressed in a much more extravagant version of what most everyone else was wearing as far as the males went, though he was simply decorated up in white, blue and gold. Selenity was waring a very elaborate white gown that fit tightly around her upper body and then belled out at the bottom. A bunch of pale blue roses started at the left side of her waist and trailed down either side of the split in the shiny silk fabric nearly to her knees and the edge of the sink was embroidered with the design of more flowers. Beneath the silken later were several chiffon layers which were weaved through with shimmering glittery threads. The upper half of the dress was simply enough, thought he top was lined with pale blue lace and on the right side a strand of smaller pale blue roses hung down from the edge of her dress and arched around to the back so that it hung down her arm like an loose, off-the-shoulder sleeve. Her hair had been styled half up with matching blue flowers and hung delicately around her face here and there where the gem in the center of her forehead was clearly visible. Her face had been painted with a slickly deeper shade of blue around her eyes which faded into a paler shade. A crescent moon had been painted over her left eye in that shimmery luminescent paint and filled in with delicate swirls. Another set of swirling lines trailed front he top of the moon up onto her temple and another down from the bottom of the moon, curling down her cheek. Her opposite eye simply hand a few curling lines trailing from the area near the edge of her eye and slightly around to the side of her face. Sri was by far the less decorated than Selenity, although she was still a bit prettied up. She was in a sky blue dress which only had three traps over one shoulder to hold it up. The top was lined with darker blue glittering leaf-like patterns, which came down across her chest diagonally from the straps that held the dress up. There was a tiny puff of a sleeve on the other side, that hung off her shoulder, and her arms were covered in tight arm warmers, one of which had a piece of chiffon dangling from it and attaching back to her dress. The dress itself was loose and very flowy, the type most children would have tremendous fun spinning around in to watch the edges fly out around them in all directions. Her face only had a couple of small swirls painted around one eye, and that was about it for makeup on her. Her hair had been curled a little and part of it had been pulled back behind her head and tied up in a pretty blue ribbon so that she almost looked like a little doll. Not too far behind those three came another woman whom the group had probably rarely seen on this trip. She was a little shorter than Selenity but just as slender. It was hard to tell by looking at her face to see that she was any older than anyone else here, though it showed in her movements that she was getting on in years. She was still elegant and graceful, but she was slower and more careful. She also hadn't bothered to get done up very extravagantly either, as it seemed she was too old to care about such things. She was wearing a high necked gown that fit her form down to the hits and then flowed out just a little and was covered all over in layer of white lace. Her hair was all twisted, looped, and tied stylishly at the back of her head with the rest left hanging down her back. A white gem was clearly visible in the center of her forehead, and she was easy to recognize as the woman that Selenity had pointed out to be her grandmother in the portraits. She followed them all to the platform where the thrones sat and took the king's hand as he offered to help her up before moving over to sit down in one of the chairs while he took the other. Selenity stood off to the side until they were both seated and then turned her attention to the room of rising dragons while Sri stood rather impatiently beside her. She smiled warmly at all of them, and no one would have ever known that she had griped, whined, and groaned about still being here for this event. "Thank you all so much for coming, and sorry to keep you waiting. I hope that you all have a wonderful time!" she said brightly to all of them and she laced her fingers together in front of her dress. She blinked when she noticed that Kanone and Reyes had kind of gotten caught in the middle of the dance floor when everyone came in and Kanone looked a little confused. She couldn't help but chuckle a little before she stepped down off of the platform and motioned to the orchestra that it was alright to keep playing now. |
Nero didn’t really say anything to Firra after they had gotten off of the dance floor, even though she had apologized to him and said that it wasn’t his fault. He knew she hadn’t meant to make him uncomfortable and he knew it wasn’t really his fault, but he couldn’t help being uncomfortable. He just kind of shook his head and waved her off a little once she had thanked him for the dance. He had pretty much just taken advantage of her as far as that dance went… one way or another that had been done mostly with his own interests in mind. He watched briefly as Firra wandered off and couldn’t help glancing around a little at all the eyes that were following her. He sighed softly and started back towards the wall he had been leaning against, ignoring anyone and everyone that was watching him, be it strangers or members of their little group. He went right back to trying not to be seen and tried even harder once the room had gone quiet and the Royal family had started filing in.
Kyran had wandered through the crowd of guests looking specifically for a maid who didn’t mind taking the tray off of his hands. He didn’t bother stopping people from taking drinks from the tray if he happened by and someone wanted one. He was fairly surprised that the first available maid wound up being Firra but it was probably better that she had come back for the tray. He smiled slightly and let her have the tray back. He took one last sip from his own glass and set it on the tray. “It’s alright.” He told her. He really hadn’t minded having to hold onto the tray for a little while and honestly, it was better that he had it than to have left Aamori trying to hold it. “Did you at least enjoy yourself a little?” He asked since it had looked like she hadn’t entirely wanted to go dance with Nero in the first place. Aamori kept her hand on Celestine’s, at least until he looked at it and then her face. She started to pull her hand back slowly as she stared at him and waited for him to respond to her. She hadn’t even thought that his changing now would look weird so she was a little embarrassed that she had suggested it. She should’ve thought about that before she asked but she just hadn’t thought of it. She nodded her head weakly when he said that he just wanted to leave. She wished that there was something that she could do for him… but there wasn’t really anything that could be done. She also wasn’t so sure that Celestine could just walk out of the room. She wouldn’t stop him from leaving since he obviously wanted to but a maid or guard might think otherwise. They’d been here long enough so it was obvious who Selenity’s friends were and they probably wouldn’t just let them out whenever they wanted out… otherwise Nero might have already left. “….I’m sorry….” She uttered quietly. She really did feel bad that there wasn’t a thing she could do and even worse that he felt the way he did. Kyran couldn’t help but look at Selenity, or stare really… once she and her family had come into the room and she addressed the room. She looked so beautiful, not that she didn’t usually. He knew that she wasn’t happy about being at this party or even happy that it was happening… but of course you couldn’t tell just from looking at her. He continued to stare over at her from where he had ended up; at least until she started to step down off the platform she was on and had motioned towards the orchestra. At that time he thought about wandering back towards the group, but waited to make sure he was free of conversation before he moved. A small part of him supposed standing away from the group wasn’t that bad a thing since he wasn’t too sure he really wanted to be seen… but then… he didn’t want to hide from her… and well, his height would hinder his ability to hide anyway. [[….I got tired …and tired of typing… so… yeah… here ya go. xDD]] |
Firra looked up at the Kyran again when he sat his own glass back on the tray after returning it to her. She nodded a little when he said that it was alright. She was just glad that it had been more of Selenity's friends that wound up with that tray rather than someone else or she probably would have gotten an ear full. She blinked when Kyran asked her if she had enjoyed herself a little. "I suppose...I can't say that has ever happened before," she responded simply before she glanced back toward the wall that Nero had retreated to. "...He is a strange one...but at least he's nice." She shrugged a little just before she noticed the royal family starting to make their way into the room. She stood perfectly still and merely bowed her head a little rather than try to curtsy with the tray in her hands. As soon as Selenity had spoken she nodded to Kyran again and started to move back toward the table. "I need to get back to work," she said simply as she hurried away.
Celestine just lowered his gaze again when Aamori apologized and shook his head weakly. "...Just don't worry about it," he told her quietly. He didn't really want her to stop enjoying herself just because he was being miserable. He raised his head a little when he heard a hush fall over the room and glanced at Nero as he passed before he turned his attention over to the entrance to watch Selenity and the rest of her family enter the room. He stood quietly and simply watched, although much like Kanone he didn't even think to bow like everyone else. Once Selenity had spoken he shook his head a little. He too knew that she wasn't too thrilled that they were still throwing this thing for her, although he wasn't that surprised that she had managed to fake a nice friendly smile. He took a deep breath and then let it out slowly and tried to straighten himself up a little. He was trying hard to tell himself that this didn't matter because other than their little group he was never going to see any of these people again. Of course, as soon as her sister was done talking, Sri was off the platform as well and already scurrying through the crowd. She may have been short but being up there had given her enough of a view that it wasn't hard to spot what she was looking for. She ducked and weaved her way through the crowd, mostly without even really being noticed. She was never the center focus of these things, so it was easy to sneak around the room. She had a bright smile on her face as she popped out from between two other light dragons and started to scurry back toward Nero, Aamori, and...Celestine? She stopped short and looked up at Celestine for a few moment, gawking just a little. "Woooow you look so pretty!" she exclaimed. "I thought you were a boy though? Why are you in a dress? Boys aren't supposed to wear dresses you know...and how come you'll dress up for this and wouldn't play dress up with me?" Celestine felt his face flush red again when Sri came to a stop and started looking him over. "Um...thanks...," he said quietly. He sighed heavily when she said that she thought that he was a boy and asked him if he knew that boys weren't supposed to wear dresses. "...I didn't dress up by choice. One of the maids didn't believe me and made me dress like this," he responded simply, although his face was still cherry red. "Ooooh...well, you are pretty like a girl. It's okay, I won't tell anyone you're not a girl tonight." She smiled at him again and threw her arms around him for a moment and nuzzled his chest lightly. "Oh hey, your feathers are back! Wow those are pretty too, I wish my wings did that, that would be neat!" Celestine blinked when Sri told him that he was pretty like a girl and then promised not to tell anyone otherwise tonight. He just looked down at her when she went to hug him and then wrapped his arms around her loosely. "Um...thanks," he commented quietly. He did actually smile a little when she pointed out that his feathers were back and said that those were pretty too. "Thanks...I'm glad you think so." He still thought that his wings were a pain, but that didn't mean that he didn't like the way that they looked. They were just hard to take care of sometimes. Sri smiled again brightly as she looked up at Celestine and then let him go before glancing over to Aamori. "You look pretty too, I like that dress on you." She told her before she edged around Celestine. She grinned and then practically pounced on Nero once she'd gotten past everyone else. "Nero!" she exclaimed happily. She giggled a little as she nuzzled against his stomach for a moment and then looked up at him brightly. "Wow I've never seen a suit like that before, where did you get a black one? Are you having fun? I think these things are boring, no one ever pays attention to me. I think I'm too short." It didn't take long for Selenity to spot Kyran in the crowd, although she only got out a smile and made it about two steps toward him before she was intercepted by someone else. She was stuck talking for several minutes, and it really hadn't taken long for her to get updated about the dark dragon dancing with a maid. Of course no one said anything bad about it, but more than one person mentioned it. She didn't even need and details to guess which maid he had snared. There was only one who would get close enough to let him. After finally excusing herself from a number of conversations and promising a few dances before the night was out, she finally managed to get past the crowd and closer to where Kyran was standing. She looked up at him for a moment and then smiled a little. "Well, you look nice," she commented casually as she laced her hands behind her back. "...I suppose it may be a little redundant to ask if you're having fun yet." |
Aamori didn't respond when Celestine told her to just not worry about it. She couldn't help worrying about it. She cared about him so of course his feelings mattered to her. She continued to look at him a little, at least until the room had gone quiet. Of course as soon as that happened she turned her eyes towards Selenity and her family as they came in, curtsying as was appropriate. Stuff like that had been drilled into her, so she did it without thinking, mostly. She thought about it of course on her way to straightening herself because she wobbled just a little. What she wouldn't give to get out these dressy heels and into something she could walk better in... but then... the heels did look really pretty with the dress. She continued to remain relatively silent where she stood near Celestine well after Selenity had finished speaking to the room. She couldn't help but stare down at Sri for a moment while she stared at Celestine before looking to Celestine herself. Her ears laid back slightly when Sri said that Celestine looked pretty and continued rambling on about how she thought he was a boy and how come she wouldn't play dress up with him if he'd dress up like this now. She felt bad that Celestine had to put up with Sri and these questions... but there wasn't anything that could be done about it and thankfully Celestine didn't lose it and snap at the child. She remained standing there listening quietly while Sri and Celestine spoke and couldn't help staring at Celestine's feathers a little herself since Sri had pointed it out. She had noticed that his wings had feathers and that they looked exceptionally pretty... but it hadn't entirely dawned on her that he shouldn't have had them so soon. She was a little ashamed that she hadn't noticed it like Sri had. She was stuck on that thought when Sri spoke to her so she was a little delayed in responding. "...Thank you." Was all she got out before she watched Sri move onto Nero.
Nero had gone right back to ignoring everything and everyone around him. He was comfortably leaned against the wall with his arms loosely crossed over his chest and his head tilted down just enough that he looked utterly un-interested in this whole party. He had of course heard Sri's voice as she had approached Celestine and Aamori and a small part of him had hoped she'd ignore him and just go on about her business... but really, who was he kidding; he was her business. His ears pinned back slightly when she finally turned on him and exclaimed his name the way she did. He automatically uncrossed his arms as soon as she pounced him and just kind of stared down at her a little uncomfortably while she nuzzled him, though you couldn't tell that because of his shades. He wasn't going to like lifting his eyes... he wasn't going to like looking at all of the people looking at him... and he certainly had no way to explain to anyone what Sri was doing... not that he felt the need to explain anything to anyone. He wanted to be detached and just not give in like he usually did around kids... but he couldn't help it, especially not after she looked up at him as brightly as she did. That look practically melted his heart a little and he couldn't help but gently touch her head affectionately. "Firra made it for me." He responded when she had asked where he got the black suit. He merely nodded his head a little at whether he was having fun and then smiled a little when she said that she thought she was too short and that was why no one paid attention to her. "....Trust me, I think you'll be getting plenty of attention tonight." He told her quietly and removed his hand. He knew people were staring, or gawking. Someone had to have noticed Sri and the first person who did would've spread word and it'd have gone along, falling like domino's until everyone noticed. He was pretty sure this was worse attention than any Firra would have gotten. Kyran had said his fairwells to Firra once she had stated that she needed to get back to work and had wanted to try and make an escape but he hadn't gotten anywhere fast enough and it would look terribly bad for him to be running from the Princess at her own birthday party. He forced up an easy smile as she approached and said that he looked nice. "No where near as nice as you, Princess." He responded, almost as if it had been rehearsed... or at least said a lot and to any number of Princesses. It wasn't that he didn't care about her or that he didn't think she looked lovely and positively radiant, despite her displeasure... but he was still trying to stay... detached, for lack of a better word. She was supposed to be giving Ellior a chance and he was supposed to be just another guy that she happened to be friendly with. So of course his response had lacked any real... feeling towards her. He shook his head lightly when she commented that it may be a little redundant to ask if he were having fun yet. He wasn't really having fun at all... but she didn't need to know that. "I am enjoying myself, as are all of your guests, I believe." He responded simply. He kind of wished that she hadn't made such a point to come to talk to him first, or well, hadn't made him the objective and deflected so many other people. It made him seem important... whereas he shouldn't have been. She should've gone looking for Ellior first... or just not gone hunting anyone down immediately. He was rather uneasy the more he thought about it... events like this bred gossip and it surely would make people curious as to why the Princess went straight for him as soon as she could. He was somewhat used to uncomfortable situations and keeping a level head... but he was more than just uncomfortable and he wanted to avoid awkward silence with her... but he had no idea what to say to her. |
Celestine watched for a moment as Sri scurried past him and started to make her way back to Nero. He had a feeling that had been her original objective to begin with and she had just gotten a little side tracked with him. Thankfully for everyone, he was learning quickly to be a lot more patient with children then he was with people his own age or older. Sri obviously knew that this was embarrassing, but didn't quite realize that her compliments were just as embarrassing, although he understood that she was just speaking her mind. He hadn't looked in a mirror, but he supposed he did look pretty...so rather than snap and make the girl cry he just tried to take the compliment. Once Sri was gone he looked back over to Aamori and then shifted positions a little. "Well...you do look really nice in that," he agreed with Sri quietly before glancing away shyly. He did think that Aamori looked very pretty but he hadn't really gotten past fuming over his own situation to compliment anyone else.
Sri obviously still didn't quite grasp the magnitude of how much her people disliked Nero. She thought that he was fun to be around since he actually played with her and paid attention to her. She smiled again brightly as soon as he put a hand on top of her head and her ears perked up brightly. She giggled a little when he told her that Firra had been the one to make his clothes for him. "Firra likes making clothes, she always makes her own because she likes dark colors," she told him matter-of-factly. She tilted her head a little in confusion when he said that he was sure that she would be getting plenty of attention tonight. "Huh?" she asked just before she turned around to look behind her. There was a good number of people staring over in her direction, some of them muttering amongst themselves. She blinked and the crowd for a moment before she looked back up to Nero looking a little perplexed before she started looking down at herself and picked up her feet as if checking to make sure that she had remembered to put her shoes on. She raised a hand to her head to pat down her hair and make sure that it was still in place and then looked up at Nero again looking even more confused. "Do I look funny or something?" Selenity merely half smiled when Kyran responded to her with the same dull, unemotional compliments everyone else at these ridiculous things used. The disappointment probably showed in her eyes a little, but she of course didn't comment and brushed the look away quickly. She wasn't too sure why she'd come to Kyran first. Frankly, she knew better. She wasn't all that sure what she had wanted him to say either, but she definitely hadn't wanted to hear anything quite so formal out of him. Oh well...she supposed she had better get back to playing along as well. She laughed softly when he said that he was enjoying himself, as were all of her other guest. "Well, I certainly hope so," she said brightly, resuming that not so noticeably fake chipper tone that she had used on the platform. She didn't wait around for long after that. She knew that she had a room full of guests to entertain, and she needed to get back to it before anyone felt slighted. "Well, I suppose I will see you later," she said lightly, "Excuse me, I think I need a drink," she added before she started to edge around him and a little closer to the buffet table to pick up a glass as if she had just happened to catch Kyran in passing. If anything, she was pretty good at covering her own ass. One learned good ways of doing it over time. She sipped at the drink she had claimed and didn't offer to move with the glass until it was empty, which at the rate she was drinking with that little glass it didn't take long. She had been stuck upstairs for hours getting dressed, so she was kind of thirsty anyway, and she was pretty sure most girls could understand perfectly considering they had probably gone through the same long process. Of course, after having stopped to get her drink, she was once again practically surrounded and roped into more mindless conversation where her lines mostly considered of giggles and agreements. |
