Kyran sighed softly after watching Nanashi lift his head again to feel the bruise on his face. When Nanashi did that he was able to just barely catch sight of his lip. He shook his head and then lightly set his hand down on Nanashi's shoulder. "The bruise shouldn't last for too long, if I go get you some ice forit." He said quietly. He took hishand back and then started to walk back towards the door. He glanced back for a brief moment. "...I don't know what it's like, being you. But try not to let stuff like this get you down. It happens and is bound to happen again, there is no sense letting it bother you so badly every time it happens." He said quietly. "...I am by no means saying you shouldn't be hurt that people can be so cruel... but you don't need to hide from the rest of us after something like this happens. We do like you, after all. We'll look out for you, if you let us." He couldn't very well speak on behalf of Nero, Celestine or Aamori but he at least assumed none of them really had any gripes with Nanashi. Though, Nero sometimes could be hard to read. Some days he was somewhat nice to everyone and others he was just an ass. He set his hand down on the door knob and started to turn it. "...Well, I'll be back in a few minutes." He said as he opened the door the rest of the way and then stepped out into the hall.
Nero looked at Marius while he spoke, but his eyes shifted over to Hikari once he heard her speak. He shook his head. "I knew you couldn't go very long without saying something." He commented. He smiled very faintly at her question of if he liked scaring people. "Scaring them is a bonus." He answered simply. "And if I look like I'm ready to kill something, even to you, then that's good. That's the way I like it." Kyran stood at the top of the stairs for a moment after he had pulled the door shut behind him. He shook his head. He couldn't believe that some boys from this village would mess with Nanashi, let alone throw apples of all things at him. He sighed and then proceeded down the stairs. Once he reached the bottom he continued into the living room. He hadn't been paying attention to anything that was being said down here and he barely even noticed Nero at first. He looked over to Hikari and thought for a second before opening his mouth. "...By chance do you have anything for busted lips?" He asked before turning to Marius. "And I'll be needing some ice... Do you have anything you usually use for ice packs?" Aamori chuckled. "No, I doubt he'd punch you. He'd probably lay you flat on your ass after chucking you over his shoulder." She shook her head a little. "He can be a little jumpy sometimes." But that was only because he'd been given the job of guarding her half the time so he had a tenancy to do things without thinking sometimes. She smiled lightly when he put his arm around her and then turned her head down to hide the color that found it's way back to her cheeks after what he said. "...And here I thought you only hit on the pretty girls." She said jokingly. |
Nanashi flinched slightly when Kyran touched his shoulder, though he didn't really mean to. When he was upset flinching was just an involuntary action. He looked up at him again when he started to walk away and told him that he shouldn't let things like this get him down. He was glad that Kyran didn't know what it was like to be him. Quite honestly he wouldn't with it on anyone. He almost smiled when Kyran said that they would look out for him if he would let them. As long as they didn't actually hurt anyone after something happened. He really hated hurting others, or being the reason that someone else got hurt even if it wasn't him that actually hurt them. He also wasn't too sure that he wanted to get used to having someone else there to look after him, after all when this trip was over everyone was going to go back to their territories and back to their own lives. Nothing was going to change for him really, or at lest he didn't see it changing. "...Thank you..." he said quietly as Kyran started into the hallway. He wasn't sure if he could hear him or not, but he was grateful. Honestly after LaRae left he wasn't expecting anyone else to come looking for him.
Hikari smiled slightly at Nero. "Well then you shouldn't have said anything." she said with a soft laugh, "You just look scary, you're sweet when you want to be." she said simply. She looked back when Kyran came back downstairs and sighed softly. "Well...not specifically, but I can do something for one." she said softly, "Is it bad?" She opened her pack and shifted around for a few moments. Most of what she had were just herbs to dull pain or those little flowers that she'd given Aamori to suck on. She had bandages and the containers that Kyran's uncle had given her, but she wasn't too sure that would be good to put on someone's lip. She didn't mind healing it herself, it really wouldn't take much energy. She shook her head and closed her pack again. Marius shook his head and smiled slightly before Kyran came downstairs and then sighed softly. "Well...I'm sure I have one around here somewhere." he said as he pushed himself up out of the chair and started toward the stairs, slipping around Kyran so that he could go look for the ice pack. He rarely used the thing, but he did have one stored either in his room or in the bathroom, but he was fairly certain that it was in his bedroom. He opened the drawer to his nightstand once he got to his room and sighed in relief when he found one there. He turned and started back to the stairs again. The pack wasn't much more than a treated leather pack with a little lid where the ice could be inserted and poured out when it melted. Kanone laughed softly and shook his head, "Naah... I hit on the drop dead gorgeous ones, too." he said playfully. He rubbed her arm gently and smiled at her as he leaned his head over against hers. He knew she was blushing even though he wasn't looking at her face. It wasn't too hard to make her blush really. "Ha ha Just don't tell Celestine about this or I may be dead later." |
Kyran looked back to Hikari and shook his head slightly. "No, it doesn't look that bad really." He paused. "Those boys were chucking apples at him, and he wound up with a busted lip and a swelling bruise near his eye." He added with a sigh. "He seems a little more unsettled then anything else, really." His attention shifted slightly when he noticed Marius had gotten up and was slipping past him to go up the stairs. He stepped to the side, even though Marius had gotten past him. He shook his head lightly and looked back to Hikari. "I think that his bruise and his lip will be fine in a day or so on it's own. Well, my guesstimate anyway. And I know you could easily fix him up, but I'm not so sure he really wants anyone else bothering him right now. He didn't exactly have a say in the matter when I went upstairs, I just walked right into the room."
Nero sighed softly. He probably shouldn't have said anything but it was a test to see if she could keep her mouth shut even when she was being spoken about. He was right though, she couldn't. He glanced to Kyran when he'd come into the room and listened to everything that he had said. He shook his head however, after hearing that Nanashi had been attacked with apples. That just made him want to laugh. The guy ran away from boys with apples. Nanashi really needed to learn how to dodge stuff. He could have easily evaded apples of all things. He sighed softly and then shut his eyes lightly. Aamori really couldn't help but blush more after hearing him again. It barely took anything to set her cheeks off and she blamed that mostly on the fact she wasn't used to hearing such things said to her. She wasn't even used to this type of attention from boys. Her brother did do a really good job of shielding her from the boys in Kairava. She smiled a bit more when he leaned his head against hers and then shook her head very lightly. "...I doubt he'd do anything to you, after all he doesn't appear to follow through with his threats." She said with a soft chuckle. She paused for a moment. "...Why would you be dead later?" |
Hikari smiled weakly and shook her head. "...In other words they hurt his feelings more than him." she said softly, "Well I'm sure that if they were persistent enough to chase him all the way back to the front of the house that it would have gotten worse if he hadn't tried to get away from them. At least apples were all that they had handy to throw, but those things still hurt when you get smacked with them."
Marius finally came back down the stairs again and stepped past Kyran again before turning down the hall once he reached the bottom of the stairs and heading down to the kitchen to fill the pack with ice. Once he'd filled it and had it closed again he walked back to the stairs and held the pack up to Kyran. "Here." he said softly, "I hope he gets to feeling better." Kanone blinked and raised his head off of Aamori so that he could look down at her again. "Ha ha You mean you haven't noticed? He'd practically beating his head against the wall trying to act like he hates your guts. If he really doesn't like someone he just completely ignores them and pretends they don't exist or something, he doesn't try so hard to pick fights with them. Besides you saw how upset he got when he thought there was something going on with us." He said with a grin. "Ive hit on several girls that have been all over him and he's never said a word about it." |
Kyran nodded slightly. "That's what I'm assuming anyway after talking to him briefly." He sighed softly. "I'm just glad that they didn't manage to hurt him worse then they already did. Though if they wound up any where near the house I'm sure Nero would've stepped in." He said glancing over to Nero. He watched for a moment when Marius came back down the stairs and then looked down the hall after him. He sighed again. "I just hope that things like this don't start happening more frequently." He muttered. "Oh... and I mentioned to Nanashi that it'd be safer for no one to leave the group without someone else with them. It'd be safer that way for all of us because we're still targets in other territories even if we're not dragon halves." He paused and glanced back to Nero. "And I don't expect you to go and ask someone to come with you when you go out. So I assume it goes without saying, be careful." His attention shifted back to Marius when he came back over to him. He reached over and took the ice pack and then nodded slightly. "I'm sure he'll be fine before too much longer." He said before returning to the stairs and climbing them. He went straight over to the door and knocked on it lightly before opening the door again like before. He shut it behind him and then walked over to the bed quietly and held out the ice pack. "Here, put this over that bruise." He said softly.
Nero glanced over at Kyran briefly when he heard him say that he thought he would step in if those boys wound up near the house with Nanashi. He shook his head lightly. Little did he know he did step in, even though Nanashi had already gone to hide. He turned his head away and shut his eyes again gently. Though he ended up opening them again and looking to Kyran again when he spoke to him. He nodded slightly. Of course he wasn't going to go asking any of them to follow him around. He didn't like dragging someone with him when he went off by himself and he surely didn't need any of them to aid him should anything happen. He was pretty good at defending himself and keeping himself hidden well enough that usually others didn't notice him. He shifted slightly and then started to sit down on the floor where he was standing once Kyran had received the ice pack and started back up the stairs. Aamori looked at Kanone for a moment before averting her eyes. "Honestly, I haven't noticed." She paused. "I guess that's just because he kept on about how he'd never see any of us again... That kind of stuck in my head." She commented quietly. She shook her head lightly and then glanced back to Kanone. "And I didn't 'see' how upset he got... If you remember I nearly suffocated myself under a pillow." She said with a sigh. "That was so embarrassing..." |
Hikari nodded slightly to Kyran, "Yes I suppose that would be safer." she said simply and then smiled slightly when he mentioned Nero not wanting to ask any of them to walk with him. She thought about teasing him and telling him that she'd go walking with him, but she kept quiet. She sighed softly and shook her head. Honestly she didn't know that any of them were going to follow that little rule. She thought every one of them at some point was going to want some time to themselves. She just hoped that they could wait until they were somewhere where there weren't many people around to bother them before they broke off.
Marius nodded slightly to Kyran and then sighed softly and started back over to his chair once Kyran started back up the steps but stopped and looked back to Nero for a moment. "You know there is another entire half to that sofa, Nero, you don't have to sit in the floor." he said with a smile before he sank down in the chair again. Nanashi raised his head again when he heard someone knock and already assumed that it was Kyran returning. He finally pushed himself up and sat up on the bed, running his tongue over his busted lip again before Kyran came back into the room. He looked at the ice pack when he held it out to him and slowly reached up to take it. "...Thank you." he said quietly before he pressed the pack lightly against the side of his face where the bruise was. He shivered when he felt how cool the thing was. He wasn't too sure how long he could stand to keep it on, but for right now it felt pretty good. He sighed and leaned forward, resting his elbow on his knee and his head on the ice pack in that hand. Kanone grinned and then shook his head. "Yeah well, Cel has his way he'll probably go back up to his mountain and never come back down again." he said simply. "He's just not much of a people person anymore, but he's still a guy... kinda questionable in some areas, but still a guy." he said with a half smile. There was a strong belief that Celestine may have a thing for guys as much as girls, but no one ever really said anything. |
Kyran stood there for a moment after Nanashi had taken the ice pack. He gave a soft sigh and then wandered back over to the chair that he'd sat in previously. He sat down and leaned back again, looking back to Nanashi. "...I didn't have her come up with me, but Hikari could fix you up if you'd like." He paused. "I don't think she minds... And I thought to ask you about it first rather then parade her up here without letting you know." He sighed softly. "If you'd rather not let her help then all I can recommend is to keep that ice to your face as long as possible to stop the swelling. Then your lip should fix itself with time, of course." He shifted slightly and then brought his ankle up to rest against his other knee. "Oh, and while I'm able to talk to you like this..." He paused. "Please, stop sleeping on that damn hard wood floor. That bed is big enough for two people and I don't bite." He said shaking his head very lightly. "Honestly, don't wait for me to tell you it's okay to sleep on the bed. It's not exactly a nice feeling waking up in the morning to find you asleep on that floor, I mean it can't possibly be comfortable."
Nero glanced to Marius and stared at him for a moment after what he said. He then looked over at the couch briefly and then shook his head. "I'm fine on the floor." He started. "I don't really want to sit near Hikari." He said bluntly. He'd much rather sit on the floor or in another room then be stuck on the same couch as her. He couldn't really even say that the reason was because he hated her, he honestly didn't. He just hated how bright she was. He could only stand to look at her for so long, so of course sitting near her would be like torture especially for his eyes. Well, that and he didn't want to go showing any signs of being nice to her or anything of the sort. Aamori sighed and nodded her head a little. She did believe that Celestine would probably do that. Hell, if they didn't still have the other relics to get she thought he'd already be ready to head back to that mountain once he was mobile again. She shook her head lightly. "Oh, I know he isn't a people person." She paused. "It took forever to get him to even start talking to me, willingly. And the first argument we had I wanted to hit him, even made him think I was because I lifted my hand to strike him. Surprised him though and kissed his forehead." She chuckled lightly. "Then he freaked out and called me a demented water snake while he rubbed his forehead vigorously... It takes real people skills to call me something like that." She said jokingly. She finally lifted her eyes enough to look around at where they were. If she hadn't thought to look up she probably could have very easily walked right past Marius' house. She quirked a brow slightly when she saw LaRae sitting outside in front of the porch surrounded by a massive amount of wood shavings. She obviously was carving something and appeared to almost be finished with what she was pretty sure was a cane of some sort. LaRae hadn't taken a break since she started and continued to work the wood down to the size she wanted it. She had made quite a little mess with the wood shavings but she'd take care of them once she had finished. The knife she was working with was nearly gone; It'd broken smaller and smaller as she worked so now it looked like nothing more then a small pocket knife. She glanced up briefly when she noticed Aamori and then Kanone. She only had her eyes up long enough to acknowledge them and then she dropped them right back down to her lap. She was finishing up the last few areas making sure that the entire cane was smooth and splinter free. At the moment it looked like nothing more then a glorified stick. She sighed, half frustrated when the knife in her hand finally gave out and busted into small pieces. She had intended to do more to it, but now her knife was gone. She took a deep breath and then stood up setting the cane to the porch while she dusted the shavings from her. |
Nanashi raised his eyes slightly when Kyran said something about Hikari helping him and just shook his head slightly. "...It's alright..." he said quietly. He knew that Hikari didn't usually like to mess with really little stuff so he wouldn't ask her to. He had dealt with his knee just fine so his lip would survive as well. He was pretty sure the only reason that she healed the cut on his head was because he was bleeding so badly. He looked at Kyran again when he told him not to sleep on the floor anymore then lowered his eyes to the floor. "...I know...you don't bite." he said quietly, "...I just didn't want to get in your way." he told him shyly. He was still a little skittish around Kyran, and probably would be for a while. People's personalities were kind of hard to read sometimes. He still remembered the disapproving look at Kyran had given him at the festival when he was nudging LaRae's arm after he got her out of that shell that she'd made. He was just trying to see if she would wake up, he wasn't too positive of how badly she was hurt and he didn't want to move her and hurt her worse. "...I'm not used to...being around so many people all at once and...getting along with them." he told him quietly, "...I don't want to...make anyone mad...or...offend anyone or anything." he tried to explain. "...I don't know...what the rest of you want me to do."
Marius blinked and then glanced over to Hikari for a second before he shook his head slightly. "Suit yourself." he said gently. He didn't think Nero had to be so blunt about not wanting to sit by the poor girl, but he didn't want to say anything to set either of them off. Hikari looked over to Nero quietly for a moment, looking a little hurt for a moment. She really couldn't read him. He was so nice to her when Kanone busted her nose open, but he was pretty distant any other time. She really had nothing against Nero at all, she really did think he was sweet even though he tried to act mean all of the time. She sat there for a moment before she stood up and walked over like she was about to head for the stairs, but rather she just stopped and plopped down against the wall beside him, "Then I'll just trade places with you." she said simply, offering him a half smile as she motioned toward the open couch, "It's all yours." Kanone laughed when he heard what their first right was about. "Yeah Cel never was one for the whole kiss on the forehead thing. If it'd been his cheek it probably wouldn't have minded as much, but that to him is like this--" he said as he patted her on the head, "is to you." He said with a smile. He blinked when they got near the porch and he looked up to see LaRae carving on something then half smiled when he finally figured out what it was. "Hehe, LaRae, gramps isn't quite that old yet." he said playfully, "What's that for?" |
Kyran sighed softly. "You're not going to get in my way. I'm pretty sure that two people can sleep in that bed without disturbing one another." He said softly. He sat for a moment quietly and then shook his head lightly. "Believe it or not, I think it's actually impossible to not offend someone or make them mad at some point. It's inevitable. The only thing you can do when that happens is apologize and hope for the best." He said with a slight nod. "...And I know you're not used to being around so many people. It's painfully obvious just by looking at you half of the time." He started. "I can speak on my behalf and Hikari's when I say that we're trying to make getting along with us as easy as possible for you. I've got nothing against you, honestly. And I just want you to be able to be more comfortable around me." He paused and shifted slightly. "...We're not going to tell you what to do, Nanashi. You're grown and can make your own decisions. We don't mind nudging you in the right direction sometimes but we're not going to tell you what to do."
Nero looked over at Hikari for a moment and was about to just shut his eyes and try to relax but he focused on her again when she started to get up from the couch. He looked away when he thought she was going for the stairs. He scooted away instantly when she sat herself down beside him. He listened to her giving up the couch to him and he shook his head and then stood up stepping away from her. "...Women shouldn't have to sit on the floor when there is a more comfortable surface for them to sit on." He said simply before walking straight over to the front door and slipping outside quickly. He'd spent enough time around her for today and if he continued to try and be mean to her he was sure that was going to backfire on him even worse then it had already started to. Once he was outside he glanced around, between LaRae, Aamori and then Kanone. He sighed softly. He just couldn't seem to get away from them all. He shook his head and walked back over to the side of the porch where he usually was and sat down with his back against the house. Aamori glared at Kanone briefly after he patted her head, yet again. She thought about beating him with her staff for a moment but just gave a heavy sigh. He was only making a comparison, so it didn't warrant a physical reaction from her. "...I doubt it mattered where I had kissed him. He barely knew me at the time and flipped out. If you'd have been there, you'd understand better what I mean." She said with a soft sigh. She looked back over to LaRae after hearing Kanone ask her what the cane was for. She was curious herself, and she wondered why she took the time to carve it by hand when she could have easily used her magic to make it in no time flat. LaRae stretched a little now that she was finished and then looked over to Kanone after hearing what he said. She shifted her eyes back to the cane for a moment and picked it up. "...Does it really look the proper height for Marius?" She asked shaking her head lightly. She held the cane in one hand and then took her claw to the wood for a moment and started gouging out a line that spiraled down from the top of the cane to the base. It didn't take her all that long to do, obviously she'd done it before. The shaving that came from the gouge she made even managed to stay in one whole piece. She pulled her claw from the wood and then set the cane back against the porch as she inspected her claw. That probably wasn't the best way to go about doing that but it got the job done. "...I was making it for Celestine." She paused briefly. "He's having trouble moving around at the moment. His legs are awfully weak, and to avoid having to have someone help him around... I thought this might help him get around by himself." She said quietly. |
Nanashi kept his eyes low to the floor. Usually his version of 'hope for the best' was more like apologize and hope that they didn't hit you quite so hard. He finally did raise his eyes when Kyran said that he didn't have a problem with him. He looked at him for a moment and actually smiled a little as the tip of his tail dusted the floor slowly in a gentle, contented sway. He lowered his eyes again when he said that they weren't going to tell him what to do and then sighed softly. He smiled a little after he was done. "...That depends on how you count." he said quietly when he said that he was a grown man. "...I really don't know how to count how old I am, in human years I'm about...38 or 39... in your years I'm about...almost 4." he said with a half smile, "What do I do, split it down the middle and say I'm....19?" he shook his head slightly, "...I don't expect you to tell me what to do... I just don't want to do something that I'm not supposed to, that's all. You all seem to expect me to do things that...I would get slapped for in other places. I know what the rest of the world expects of me...I just try to give you all the same courtesy." Really that was what it boiled down to. He was doing things the way that he'd been taught to do them. He was supposed to eat last, he was supposed to offer up anything better to someone else, that was just the way things had always been. If there was only one bed, he was to take the floor not try to squeeze in and crowd the other person's sleeping space because who in their right mind would want his filthy half-blood body touching them? At least he seemed a little more willing to speak without waiting forever after he said that he didn't have a problem with him.
Hikari glanced over to Nero when he scooted away from her and then shook her head when he stood up and went for the door. She blinked and then shook her head. "...He is so confusing..." she muttered softly as she pushed herself up and sighed. She didn't think he'd really care one way or the other where she sat, even if she was a girl. She finally just returned to the couch and sat back down there with a sigh. Well so much for that idea. Maybe she should have just gone upstairs to her room and made herself small. Kanone looked at the stick as she made a spiral around it and laughed softly, "Oh my..." he said with a shake of his head. "Um...LaRae, if he throws it back at you don't be offended." he said with a slight smile, "I'm not too he'd take being handed a cane any better than someone trying to hold him up." he said lightly, "but it's a nice thought so he'll probably be good, especially since you put so much work into it." He said with a smile. "If nothing else he'll probably get some good use beating me over the head with it later." |
Kyran listened quietly, a little surprised that he was getting more out of Nanashi then a short little response. Once he had finished speaking, he sat for a moment before opening his mouth. For once actually giving a little more thought to how he wanted to respond. "As for your age, be it human years or dragon years I doubt it matters which you'd rather go by. But splitting it down the middle and saying that you're nineteen sounds fine to me." He said with a small smile and a slight nod. He sighed softly. "And I do apologize if we're trying to get you to do things that normally you wouldn't, for obvious reasons." He started. "I know for certain, that I don't like treating you like you're any different then me. I really don't care that you're half human, and it doesn't mean that I'm going to dislike you or treat you differently because of it. You're still a person after all and I can't make myself treat you the way the rest of the world does." He paused. "I think, again I'm speaking for myself and kind of hoping I'm speaking for a couple of the others; We'd just like for you to not think your worse then the rest of us just because of you're half human. And it'd be nice for you to feel okay around us, like you're one of us rather than singled out by yourself."
LaRae rubbed her hands against her jeans a bit. Sitting there carving with the knife had made her palms a little rough. She looked back to Kanone and nodded slightly. She'd already thought that Celestine wouldn't like the idea of using a cane, but at least there was that option now. And she tried her best to make the it not look so much like some old persons cane. It wasn't going to bother her what he did with it, she felt better knowing that she at least made an attempt to help him out. She finally reached back over and picked the cane up again. "I don't really care what he does with it, personally. So if he decided he'd rather beat you with it then he can. And I can guarantee that it isn't going to break if he hits you with it." She smiled slightly. "It's made well enough that it would take something incredibly sharp to break it." She added. "...With as much trouble as he had getting up stairs, I'd like to admit that I see him sucking it up and just using the damn thing. Otherwise, he'll wind up confined to the bed again or he'll have to have someone a foot behind him every time he wanted to go somewhere." She sighed softly and then handed the cane out to Aamori. "Here, I need to clean up this mountain of wood shavings. Could you leave it somewhere that he'll find it?" She paused. "Oh.. and last I left him, he was upstairs in the bathroom." She added lastly. Aamori was a little surprised to hear that LaRae had spent all that time making that cane, and for Celestine no less. She'd always known that LaRae was really nice and kind hearted but she had a difficult time convincing some others about it sometimes. Then, some of LaRae's actions and words lately really did speak to the opposite. She sighed softly and reached out to take the cane when she was handed it. She looked it over a bit, rather surprised at how smooth it was. She looked back to LaRae and nodded her head a little. "..Okay." She didn't mind making sure that he saw it, but why did he have to be in the bathroom? She shook her head lightly. At least she wasn't being told to go into the bathroom like last time. "I guess I'll go do this now, while I'm thinking about it." She said before turning and walking to the porch and heading up to the front door. She wasted very little time slipping inside. She moved closer to the stairs and then glanced between Hikari and Marius for a moment. "Do you know if Celestine is still upstairs?" She asked. She figured that if he had come down at all since LaRae last saw him, they would know since they were in the living room. |
Nanashi looked up to Kyran again and smiled slightly when he continued talking. "...I'll try to remember that." he said quietly, "...It's just...hard to get used to. I'm...I'm sorry...if I'm being difficult." he told him softly, "I'm...really not trying to be." He sighed softly and lowered his eyes again. "...I'll try harder." he said quietly. He knew that they were trying hard to make things easy on him, and he was just trying his best to stay out of their way so that they didn't have to, but he guessed that it would be better if he just tried to get along with them. "...I'm glad...that you don't see me like the others do... it's just...I really don't want to get used to it...because once this trip is over...all of you are just going to go back to where you belong and...well...nothing going to change anywhere else. I'll be back on my own again and...I don't have anyone to go home to when this is over..." he said quietly as he lowered his eyes again, absently playing with his necklace. His ears fell slightly and his voice got even quieter if that was even possible. "...You guys....are all I have."
Kanone laughed softly, "Oh gee, thanks. You know you could have made it to where it would snap or something." he said as he shook his head playfully. He watched as LaRae handed the cane off to Aamori and then watched her go inside before he glanced back to LaRae and half smiled, "So what happened to not caring one way or the other?" He asked lightly. Marius looked up to Aamori and tilted his head slightly. "...I suppose that he is still upstairs. I was never aware that he even got out of bed, I'm afraid I dozed off here earlier." he said simply before he glanced over to Hikari. "I haven't seen him either, so he is probably still upstairs." she said simply. She was kind of wondering when and how he'd gone up but she guessed LaRae must have helped him while she sand Kyran were in the kitchen. Celestine had dozed off sitting int he tub with his head resting on his arms on the side of the tub, but he'd woken up not long ago and cleaned himself off before he let out the water and finally crawled out of the tub and started to dry himself off a bit. He'd only just managed to get into his pants before he had to sit down again white he fought to get into his shirt. |
Kyran sat up a little in the chair and dropped his foot from his knee back down onto the floor as he leaned forward with his elbows to his knees. "You shouldn't be so negative." He started. "None of us know what is going to come from this whole mess we're in, and there is a possibility that some, if not all the clans can start to get along. If that does happen, I know that not all of us are going to go our separate ways." He paused and then started to stand up from the chair. He stretched a little and moved closer to the bed. "Don't worry so much about not having a place to go home to after this is all done and over with. I don't know how nice it sounds right now, but you can always stay with Minako and me if you like. If nothing changes from all of this I can get you permission to stay in Radha." He paused. "And if that doesn't sound good, Hikari mentioned to me that Glenys can house other clan members." He gave a soft sigh. "We're all going to be together for at least five months, we're not going to drop off the face of the planet and never speak to one another again you know. Well, at least I don't plan to never speak to any of you again after this." He reached out and patted the top of Nanashi's head gently. "For now, don't worry about all of that. Just enjoy the time we all have together." He gave a smile and then pulled his hand back.
LaRae watched when Aamori went inside and then turned her eyes back down to the pile of shavings. She wasn't really sure how she wanted to go about getting rid of them. She could just let them blow away on their own or take the time to sweep them all up. She sighed softly and then looked up to Kanone. "Honestly, I'd like to not care one way or the other." She started. "But I guess I'm just not that mean." She paused. "And I guess you could say that your grandfather has a way with words..." She said quietly. Had they not talked earlier she probably would still be acting the way she was, and being less pleasant with everyone around her. She turned her eyes back down to the wood shavings and sighed softly before kneeling down and setting her hand in the pile. Her hand just barely started emanating a green aura before a few very thin roots sprouted out from the ground. They were considerably smaller then what she could usually produce, but they would serve her purpose. The roots swept over the pile and as they did so the shavings started to attach themselves to the roots. Looking closer one would notice that the shavings were actually starting to become part of the original root. It took a few moments to clear all the shavings but once she was done she lifted her hand up from the ground and the roots seeped back into the ground. She stood up straight and then dusted her hands off on her pants once again. "Thank you for going to find Aamori, by the way." Aamori looked at Marius when he answered and then over to Hikari. She shook her head lightly with a faint chuckle. "I guess it's a good thing that there isn't an emergency or anything since neither of you have seen him." She shifted the cane to her other hand and then turned to the stairs. "Well, thank you anyway." She said as she then proceeded to head upstairs. Once she reached the top she paused for a moment before wandering over to the bathroom door. She came to a stop in front of it and sighed softly before looking down at the cane. She set it down in the door frame so that it was propped from the bottom corner of the frame over to the other side. It wasn't easily missed at least, so she didn't think that he'd trip over it on the way out. That is unless he was completely and utterly not looking where he was going. She half thought to knock on the door and let him know it was there but she didn't want to disturb him. She lingered in front of the door for a moment longer before heading back towards the stairs. |
Nanashi finally lowered the ice pack and sat it aside for now since his head felt like it was about to freeze. He looked up to Kyran again when he got up and came closer, smiling slightly with a rather hopeful look in his eyes when he said that he could stay with him and his sister. He did like Kyran well enough, and Minako was pretty nice, too. His tail swayed gently over the edge of the bed, dusting the floor again. He still ducked his head a little when Kyran went to pat him, but once he touched him he pushed his head up a little into his hand almost like a cat would and tilted his head as he smiled slightly. "I think...I would like that." he said quietly. He did hope that something would come of this trip where he could at least have somewhere that he could go once this was all over. He wanted to stay with LaRae but he had a feeling that was out of the question as long as Renzo was still in the picture.
Kanone smiled slightly and nodded, "Yes, that he does..." he said softly when she mentioned the way Marius could talk. "He could almost talk someone into gouging out their own eyes. I think that's why nearly everyone likes him." He said with a slight laugh as he watched her clean off the porch. "...Ah, don't mention it. She was alright, she was just soaking in the lake." he said simply. He stepped up onto the porch finally and smiled, putting his hand on her head, "She says you worry too much." he said lightly. Marius smiled weakly and shook his head at Aamori. "Yes, I suppose it is good." he said softly. He would hate to think that he could sleep through an emergency. He just hoped Celestine didn't drown in the bath tub if that was where he'd gone. Celestine wrestled with his shirt for a few moments longer before he finally got everything in all of the appropriate holes. He then reached over to get his vest and struggled to get his wings through the holes in the back before he buttoned it up the front and got his sash to tie around his waist. He looked down at the sash oddly for a moment and then shook his head. He guessed Kanone or whoever had gotten this for him didn't like indigo with gold. He guessed it didn't really matter, as long as it helped keep the lower part of his vest closed. Finally he got up again slowly and walked over to the door, holding onto the counter most of the way. Once he finally reached the door he unlocked it and pulled it open, nearly jumping out of his skin when the cane fell through the door at him. He stared at it for a moment and then held onto the door knob as he knelt to pick it up. He stayed on one knee, lowering his hand from the door knob as he stared at the carved out stick. This one was way too short for Marius, so he knew that it wasn't one that someone had found, besides Marius didn't need one anyway. He sighed softly, realizing that LaRae must have made it for him since she was the only one that knew he was having such difficulty walking. After sitting down for a while longer he was able to at least get dressed without too much difficulty, but with his hair and wings still damp and adding more weight to him, it wasn't making walking any easier. really he didn't want to resort to using a cane, but since it was there and the only other alternative was to have someone practically carry him, he set the cane upright and used it to push himself off of the floor again before he started down the hall, leaning rather heavily on the cane as he went. |
Kyran looked at the bruise once Nanashi had lowered the ice pack. He was pretty sure that the ice had gotten onto it soon enough that it wouldn't swell, or at least not swell a lot. He smiled a bit when he heard him say that he thought he'd like that. "Well, that's good." He started. "The invitation still stands even if you find somewhere better to go." He added. He started to move a little closer to the door, though he stopped and turned around to look at Nanashi. "You know, everyone has a place to go in the world. It's just not always easy to find and sometimes it can be hard to get to."
LaRae just stood there once Kanone had put his hand on her head. She lifted her eyes to stare at his arm for a moment before continuing on like he hadn't touched her. "I worry with good reason." She said quietly. "Especially after her just freezing like that..." She muttered. She shook her head lightly and gave a soft sigh. "Nevertheless, I'm glad she was alright." She did think that Aamori looked better, her skin didn't look quite so pale in the sun as it did before she left. She looked back to him briefly. "Oh.. and I wanted to apologize, for earlier." She paused. "..I was ..out of line." She uttered quietly. Thankfully, the second time around it seemed a little easier for her to get the words to come out of her mouth. Aamori had started down the stairs nearly the instant she reached them. Though she came to a stop just at the last step and stood there. She was about to open her mouth to say something but she shut up pretty quickly when she heard her stomach growling loud enough to hear. Her tummy always embarrassed her when it hungry and it had a habit of protesting during quiet moments just to make sure it was heard. She stared down at her stomach briefly before lifting her eyes and trying to act like she hadn't heard a thing. If she was lucky no one else heard it and it would save her a little embarrassment. |
Nanashi looked up to him again and smiled slightly when he said that the offer would stand and nodded to him appreciatively. He watched him start for the door and then started to look away until he'd stopped and looked back to him again. He turned his eyes back to him when he said that everyone had a place in the world. He smiled slightly and lowered his eyes a little. "...I like to think that, too... But not everyone is able to find it." he said softly, "...I guess after a while most give up looking."
Kanone shook his head slightly. He didn't know what she meant about her freezing, but he decided not to ask. He smiled when she apologized to him and just grinned, putting his hand on top of her head again. "Aren't you usually?" he asked playfully and then laughed softly, "Don't worry about it. Celestine is a sweet kid sometimes and a royal pain in everyone's ass the rest. Honestly I don't know how you guys put up with him so well." He lowered his hand again and placed it on her shoulder, "But that was still nice of you to make him that cane....stick....thing." he said with a slight smile. Marius looked over to Aamori when she came down the stairs again and laughed softly when he heard her stomach. "...You may help yourself to the kitchen, Aamori." He said with a soft chuckle as he started to get up. "I think I'm going to have to see what I have in there, too. I am getting rather hungry myself." he said lightly as he started across the room toward the hallway. Hikari glanced back to Aamori when she heard her stomach growl and laughed softly, shaking her head slightly. She'd already eaten so she didn't bother to get up. She couldn't really help anyone too much in the kitchen anyway. Celestine made his way down the hallway rather slowly, though he was making progress a lot faster than he had when he was trying to get along without any help. Once he got to the end of the hallway he paused and sighed as he leaned against the back wall, across the hall and down a little from the first door so that he was standing in front of the stairs. He stared at the steps rather unsurely and then sighed softly. He didn't really know if he felt safe trying to go down them even with the cane. He may just stay up here for a while. |
Kyran shook his head lightly. "Don't go being one of those idiots who gives up looking. Just because it's difficult doesn't mean you should give up on it." He paused. "Nothing in life is easy, for anyone. Some people just deal with the hard parts better then others." He sighed softly and started to put his hand on the door knob. "Oh, and don't keep yourself locked up here forever. You don't need to sit in here and mope around all day, you know." He said as he pulled the door open and then stepped out into the hall. He left the door ajar and then looked towards the stairs. He was a little surprised to see Celestine, only because he wasn't aware that he'd left the bed downstairs. By the looks of it though, he'd gotten that well needed bath. He moved a little closer to the stairs and looked at Celestine. "Contemplating going down?"
LaRae smiled faintly and shook her head. "In your case, I might just call it a beating stick." She paused and looked at him with a slight smirk. "Maybe I was subconsciously making it for that purpose. After all it is a little sturdier then it needs to be." Aamori's face easily showed just how embarrassed she was once she heard that not just Marius had heard her stomach, but Hikari too. She lingered on the step for a moment after placing her hands over top her stomach to try and quiet another growl. She'd been so preoccupied with other things the past few days that she really hadn't even thought about eating. Of course now that she wasn't busy doing something her stomach was speaking up. She sighed softly and stepped down from the stairs and then started to follow after Marius when he went towards the hall. She had intended to go back outside where Kanone was, mostly for the company and because her hair was still a little damp. It couldn't hurt to put some food in her tummy though, it wasn't like it would take too long. |
Nanashi smiled slightly and shook his head. "I never said that I had stopped looking." He said quietly. "I never intended to." He was pretty accustomed to the fact that no one wanted him wherever he went, so he just assumed that he could belong anywhere he wanted since it was going to be the same wherever he went, that was why he was so well traveled. He waved to him when he said that he didn't need to sit up here and mope all day and just shook his head. He wasn't really moping, but he had a feeling that everyone already knew what had happened, and he was a little embarrassed about it. After all he had just got beaten up by a couple of pieces of fruit. He could have done something, but running off and getting out of their way seemed like the easier approach, at least it didn't escalate that way. He sighed softly and laid back on the bed again, stretching out a little before he sat up again. He picked up the ice pack again and placed it back over his eye again for a little while. He was about ready to hear to bed, anyway.
Celestine looked up when he heard Kyran and then sighed softly. "Looking over the idea..." he said casually. "...Though the idea isn't looking all that great if I fall." he said simply. He sighed and shook his head slightly before he pushed himself away from the wall and took a few slow steps toward the stairs, placing his hand firmly on the stair rail as he looked down a little unsurely before he slowly put his foot down onto the first step. Kanone laughed slightly at LaRae and shook his head, gently pushing her shoulder before he dropped his hand back to his side. "Thanks a lot." he said with a shake of his head. He finally glanced up to the sky, "Well, guess I'm going to head back to the house, it looks like it's about to storm sometime. Besides it's getting late anyway." he said simply. He hopped off the porch and waves, "See ya LaRae and um...um...scary." He said with a slight laugh, "Sorry, I forgot your name again...um...Nemo! wait...no...Nero!" Marius glanced back to Aamori as he reached the kitchen and smiled slightly, "Well, you may get whatever you like." He told her, "I doubt you want to try to choke down my cooking." he said with a smile as he went about starting to prepare himself something to eat. |
Kyran looked down the stairs for a moment before looking back to Celestine. "If you start to fall, I'll catch you." He said simply. He wouldn't have any trouble catching him and keeping him from falling and he stood a good chance of moving fast enough to keep him from getting hurt. Since Celestine was worried about falling down the stairs he intended to follow him down.
LaRae listened to Kanone screw up Nero's name and then shook her head lightly trying not to laugh. She stepped a little closer to the door and then looked back to Kanone briefly. "See you later, I'm sure." She said lightly before opening the door and stepping inside. Once inside she wandered straight over to the couch to sit down near Hikari. As she sat down she lifted her hand to cover her mouth while she yawned quietly. There hadn't been too much really that had gone on today but she was already starting to feel tired. Nero barely lifted his head when he heard Kanone call him scary. That was a decent enough thing to call him, it wasn't like he minded. However he half glared over at Kanone once he started fumbling with his name. Seriously, was 'Nero' really all that hard to remember? He shook his head and tilted it down again before closing his eyes. He was surprisingly rather tired himself, though he could say that was because of the nasty weather that was on the way. When the weather went sour he just wanted to sleep. Aamori looked at Marius and nodded slightly before removing a hand from her stomach and heading over to the apples. She was hungry but didn't want to go eating anything too big with the fact that it was getting late. She took one of the remaining apples and then looked back to Marius with a faint smile. "Don't worry, I'm no good in the kitchen myself. I've always had meals prepared for me..." She said as she went over to the table and sat down. She wasted very little time starting to eat the apple. |
Celestine nodded slightly and then sighed as he started down the steps. He was trying to hurry faster than he would have if Kyran wasn't behind him. He was still trying not to fall, but he didn't want to keep Kyran on the stairs forever. About halfway down his cane tilted while he was leaning on it a little and started to fall forward out of his hand. He grabbed for it, but it went tumbling down the rest of the steps and he wasn't too far behind it. He latched onto the rail, but all he managed to do was make claw marks along the top of it as his hand slipped off of it.
Hikari looked over to LaRae and smiled slightly when she sat down beside her and then leaned her head over against hers for a moment. "Hello there. About ready for bed?" she asked lightly, though she nearly jumped out of her skin a second later when he heard something bang off of the stairs a few times and she turned around to try to see what it was, though she really couldn't see from where she was sitting. "What the??" Kanone smiled weakly at Nero when he glared at him and then turned around and started to walk quickly back toward his own house. Oh boy... he's going to strangle me. Marius just made himself a very quick sandwich and got down two glasses to fill with water. He took one to the table and set it down beside Aamori and then went back to the other one and got it before he came to sit beside her. "Well, normally, I burn everything. I have never been much of a cook." he said lightly as he started to take a bite out of his sandwich. |
Kyran started down the stairs only a few moments after Celestine had. He was of course watching Celestine as he headed down the stairs. His eyes widened slightly when he noticed him lose the cane and then start falling down after it. He reacted before he could even think about it and threw out his hand to grab hold of Celestine's wrist before it slipped too far away from the railing. If anything he'd at least be able to keep him from falling down the stairs any further.
LaRae nodded slightly. "..Yes, I'm pretty tir--" She jumped a little at the sound of something banging down the stairs, though not nearly as bad as Hikari had. She tired to look to the stairs too, to see what it was and wound up just getting up since she couldn't see very well from where she was sitting either. Aamori took another bite from her apple and then looked at Marius when he set the glass down beside her. She smiled. "Thank you." She said as she reached for the glass to take a sip of the water. She looked up from her apple when he came back again and sat down. "I just don't know how to cook." She started. "My parents didn't really see a need for me to learn, plus it doesn't fit into my busy schedule." She shrugged lightly. "...It doesn't bother me too much but it does pose a problem at fending for myself." She admitted quietly. |
Celestine had already closed his eyes tightly when he thought that he was going to keep falling, though he opened then again when he felt Kyran grab his wrist. He pulled himself back quickly, gasping as he stared down the rest of the steps with wide eyes. He leaned back against Kyran for a moment and closed his eyes as he tried to make his heart stop pounding and then sighed and shimmied back over to the rail and sank down to a sitting position by the wall. He just waved to Kyran to tell him to go on and leaned his head down to rest in the palm of his hand while his hand rested against his knee.
Hikari finally got up as well and walked around LaRae a few steps to see the cane laying int he floor at the base of the steps. She shook her head slightly and glanced up the stairs a little to see Kyran standing there and just barely saw the top of Celestine's head. "Is everything alright?" Marius smiled slightly, "I suppose you will probably never have to worry much about being on your own." he said lightly. "Or at least let's hope not." he said with a smile, "It's not all that fun. I was used to Alya doing the cooking around here, I've never quite been able to get the hang of it." he said with a soft laugh. |
Kyran gave a relieved sigh seeing as he managed to keep Celestine from falling down the rest of the stairs. He watched him sink down onto the step and then stepped ahead of him when he waved him on. Though he stopped just a couple steps from him and looked back for a moment. He wasn't going to leave him there while he was struggling with the stairs, he wanted to make sure that he made it down them the rest of the way safely. He shifted slightly and looked down the rest of the stairs to Hikari when he heard her question. "Yeah, everything is fine." He said softly. "The stairs are just being a little uncooperative." He turned his eyes back to Celestine. "Come on, you don't have too much more to go and one little slip shouldn't stop you."
Aamori finished off her apple and set the core down on the table before drinking some of the water. She sighed softly and stared at the remaining water in the glass. "You're probably right. I'm going to always have people around me..." She paused. "I'd rather have been born normal... like most of the world." She uttered quietly. Her eyes widened briefly for a second when she realized she was saying too much and then shook her head lightly. |
Celestine looked up when Kyran told him to come on and sighed softly. "No...that one little slip just scared the hell out of me." He muttered as he shook his head. He reached up and grabbed onto the rail again and pulled himself up again. His legs were shaking even worse now that he'd just scared himself thinking that he was going to roll down the stairs, but he managed to straighten himself up and get moving again, though he was clinging to the rail for dear life with both hands until he got the the bottom again and then he just flopped down on the bottom step with a heavy sighed and leaned his head against the wall tiredly. "Okay...I'm down... Thanks for catching me...now go away..." he said breathlessly.
Hikari walked closer to the bottom of the steps and watched as Celestine came down. She smiled at him and shook her head when she heard what he said once he reached the bottom. She just started back over to the couch again so she could sit back down since he obviously didn't want to be pestered right now. Marius looked over to Aamori once she started talking again, already finishing most of his sandwich by the time that she'd finished off her water. He shook his head slightly and finished off the last bite of his sandwich and then smiled at her once he'd swallowed. "...You know, Aamori..." he started as he put his arm around her, "I don't have to be a dream seer to know that who you are and what you can do is going to make a difference in the world. You might not have been born like everyone else, and life may not be so simple because of it. In the long run however, you'll realize that things turned out exactly the way that they needed to be. You have a purpose more important than what you realize." he said gently, "Everyone does. In that respect...you are just like everyone else. We're all part of one grand design, but we never see the significance in our part. You may not be like everyone else, but you are just the way that you were meant to be." he said softly. "...You'll be a fine woman that people will look up to." He said with a smile. (lol yay for tired ramblings. XD) |
Kyran came down the last of the steps after Celestine had and then shook his head lightly. "You live up in a mountain and a falling down a couple steps scares you?" He paused. "I did say I'd catch you if you fell..." He sighed and then continued to walk over to the couch and then sat down. He leaned back, letting his head fall back on the couch half tiredly. He was already wanting to just go to sleep but he wasn't ready to go back up those stairs just yet, especially after having just sat down on the couch.
LaRae didn't bother getting too close to the stairs since she'd already heard what had happened. She sighed softly once Hikari turned back to the couch, and then watched as Kyran headed that way too. She turned slightly to look back at Hikari after covering her mouth to hide another yawn. "...I think I'm just going to go ahead and go to bed." She said before turning back to the stairs. She stepped around Celestine without another word and then started up the stairs to the room that her and Hikari had been sleeping in. She wasted very little time making her way straight to the room and getting inside. She wandered over to the bed and moved the blanket away before climbing into the bed and making herself comfortable. Aamori gave a heavy sigh after listening to Marius. She couldn't believe that he knew, and without her even saying a word about it. That just made her wonder how obvious it was, then again he was a dream seer so that could explain it if it wasn't obvious. She only remembered talking in her true voice around Kanone a couple times and thankfully he wasn't able to put everything together. She shook her head. She couldn't believe how many people knew. She was only positive that Hikari, Celestine and now Marius knew and that was more people then she wanted as it was. She took a moment and then looked over at Marius a little, keeping her eyes low. Sometimes she really didn't like admitting who she was. "...Now you sound like an Elder..." She said quietly. She'd actually heard something similar to what he had said from an Elder in her clan once or twice before. She had her days when she had trouble just accepting that she couldn't change who she was and who she was going to be and she wound up spending those days sitting on the floor in front of one her Elders while they rambled. "...I wish that this so called honor could've been something I chose, rather then something I was born into. It really doesn't seem fair to not have a choice in the matter and I can't even decline if I wanted to..." She said quietly. |
