Hikari just gasped and then tried to take deep breaths and relax herself. She finally released her grip on the edge of the bench and raised her hands to her face, rubbing it slightly. She was a little red from sliding on the desk. "I...nearly...fell off...." she said in a tiny voice, still sounding a little shocked. She knew that she probably wasn't the only one, but it still scared the living daylights out of her. She could swim, but she didn't like the idea of swimming with giant sharks.
Celestine sighed heavily and stroked Nobu's back gently before he started to rub his ears. 'I'm sorry... I had nothing to catch myself on.' The last thing that he wanted to do was hurt Nobu. He sighed and glanced back to the bench for a moment before he laid down slowly and resting his head against Nobu's side, obviously not wanting to risk falling on him again from the bench should the boat do that again. He sighed softly and closed his eyes again. Nanashi looked back to LaRae for a moment and then looked over to where Celestine was sitting, and he could just see Aamori and Kyran as well. He started to get up unsteadily and crossed his arms over his stomach with a groan. He swallowed again and clenched his jaw, feeling sick yet again, though after that he had a feeling that all he was going to accomplish now was dry heaving. He slowly started to move back toward the bench again so he could sit back down. |
After the boat had completely settled down and was back on track the driver finally came down again from the upper deck. He glanced around for a brief moment looking to see who was still on the boat. When he saw that everyone seemed to be on board still he shook his head a little. He wouldn't deny it, he had hoped that tipping would've lost a couple of them. He wandered over to the side of the boat that Aamori was on and saw how she was sitting there and went up to her grabbing her by her shoulders and yanking her back from the railing. "It's too dangerous for you, of all people to be that close to the railing." He muttered as he pulled her up to her feet. "I'd never hear the end of it, if I lost you to a shark." He said quietly as he took her by her upper arm and started practically dragging her behind him as he headed back towards the ladder to the upper deck. After that sharks attempt at tipping the boat he didn't feel safe leaving an Elder around the lot she was with. He doubted any of them would try to save her if she went over board so he wanted her under his thumb so he could keep an eye on her. He forced her up the ladder and onto the upper deck and then went right back to steering the boat. They didn't have too much farther to go, thankfully.
Aamori didn't put up much of a fight when the guy came down from the upper deck and started pulling her around, in fact she didn't fight him at all. She just went along with it, wherever he wanted to put her, she'd go. Once she was on the upper deck she went over to the empty corner away from all the navigation and steering equipment and sat down on the floor with a heavy sigh. She felt terrible, even if everyone was alright. She still, thoughtlessly put everyone's life in danger. Including the guy who was driving the boat. She shouldn't have let herself get so excited about getting to go home that she completely lost her common sense. She just hoped this wasn't any indication of what the rest of the trip was going to be like while they were here. Kyran continued to stand there for a few minutes. He was about to go over and sit down himself, just to get away from the railing. He stopped however and watched as the guy that was driving the boat came down and pulled Aamori away from the railing. He shook his head seeing the guy continuing to pull her around. Once she was forced to the upper deck he sighed and then started over to the bench. He swayed only a little while he walked then set himself down on the bench on the opposite side of Hikari. He looked over at her, he'd obviously regained his composure a lot faster than she had. "...You alright?" He asked seeing as her face was a little red. Nero looked to Hikari once more when he heard her say that she nearly fell off. He shook his head a little. "But you didn't. You're fine." He said shortly. He didn't think that Hikari would've gone in the water, Kyran surely would've done everything in his power to keep her on the boat. And if she did wind up falling into the water it wasn't like she'd get left there to be shark food. He did think that she was lucky to come away from that with nothing more then a red face from sliding across the deck. When Kyran started over to the bench he turned his head back and stared out over the water for a moment before tilting his head down and shutting his eyes. LaRae looked at Nanashi and watched him as he started back to the bench. The thought briefly crossed her mind to get up and go sit with him but she wasn't going to budge from where she was sitting. At least not by her own accord. She glanced over to the guy who had been driving the boat when he came back down and watched him for a moment as he started tugging Aamori around. She quirked a brow slightly as she watched Aamori get forced up onto the upper deck. She would've liked for that to have made more sense to her. Nobu didn't bother to lift his head again. He just laid there while his low whining started to subside. Once his whining stopped he continued to lay there quietly barely moving other than the steady rise and fall of his chest. He was ready to get off this boat and onto some dry land. |
Hikari only barely noticed when the man dragged Aamori up to the top deck, though she thought she was probably better off up there. She sighed quietly when Nero spoke and nodded. That still didn't change the face that she was scared half to death and wanted off of this boat this right now. She looked up to Kyran and nodded again when he asked if she was alright. "Y-yes..." she said quietly. Thanks to your foot... She sighed heavily and rubbed her face again before she lowered her hand and looked out at the water. This was officially the last time that she agreed with Aamori without interrogating her first.
Nanashi looked over to LaRae once he was seated again and then glanced over to the man when he started hauling Aamori around. He gulped then. Obviously he was expecting something else to happen. He just closed his eyes tightly and sat there for a moment until he realized that LaRae wasn't moving. He slowly got up and walked over to her, kneeling down to grab onto her arms gently before he tugged her back to her feet and pulled her to the bench with him. He didn't want her sitting there where she could start sliding again. Celestine listened to Nobu's whines and continued to pet him gently, "Sorry..." he whispered again every now and then when he whined. He felt bad for falling on him, but he'd almost completely forgotten that he was doing there. Nobu hadn't been talking to him a lot lately, so he hadn't been paying a whole lot of attention to him. He curled his fingers in Nobu's fur and nuzzled against him gently. He draped his arm over Nobu's back gently and looked down at his head. He couldn't tell if he'd gone to sleep or what. |
Kyran gave a sigh and then reached over putting his arm around her shoulder. He pulled her a little closer to him and giving her a gentle squeeze. He could tell that she was still shaken up. He started to open his mouth to say something but paused when he noticed that the boat was starting to be blanketed in heavy fog. He remembered Aamori talking about the fog before, about it being right around the outer most islands. Seeing the fog was a good indication that they weren't too far from their destination.
LaRae would have sat there on the deck for the remainder of the ride, though she was actually kind of glad that Nanashi got her back on her feet and over to the bench with him. She couldn't seem to get her own feet moving after she'd fallen when the boat jerked. She'd actually been scared a bit by that shark but would never admit to it. She would have preferred not seeing it as it went under the boat to begin with. Once she was seated on the bench she shut her eyes and sat there quietly. She had been enjoying the ride until that happened, now she was more than ready to put her feet back on steady ground. Nobu kept laying there without moving for awhile. Though he finally shifted slightly and then moved his head a bit as he lifted it up and scratched his paw across his nose briefly to reach an itch. He hadn't gone to sleep, at least not yet. '...You can stop apologizing already.' He paused. 'I know you didn't mean to fall on me.' It took the boat about eight minutes alone to make it through the heavy fog. It wasn't difficult to maneuver thanks to the navigation in the boat. Without that it would be impossible to get through the fog because it was impossible to see anything more than a couple feet in front of the boat. Once the boat broke through the fog it was passing by two of the smaller islands, one on each side of the boat. The islands that lay around the main island were still decently sized because they housed a good majority of the people of Kairava. Outside of the circle of fog there were other islands but they were stretched out over the whole territory and no where near the size of the islands that were in the circle. Shortly, the contents of the circle could be considered the capital. It didn't take too much longer for the boat to finally reach the other pier and start to pull into the docks. The other pier looked nearly identical to the one they'd started out from, the only difference was that it was a little larger in scale and had another building that was a sleeping quarters for the people who ran the boats. After the boat was successfully backed into the dock and the anchor was dropped the guy who had been driving the boat started to shut down the engine and then leaped down from the upper deck once again. He didn't bother looking around this time and he went straight over to the back of the boat and pulled on the lever that released the ramp. He turned back slightly, only now looking around at the lot of them again. "Okay, everyone off." He said shortly and then leaned back against the railing beside the ramp to wait for them to get off his boat. Aamori continued to sit in the corner on the upper deck even when the guy started shutting the engine down and then headed back down to the main deck. She sat there until she just barely hear him tell them to get off the boat. Only then did she move onto her knees and peek her head up from the upper deck to look down at the others. She still felt terrible for not mentioning before about the sharks. But, at least everyone was alright minus a few rattled nerves. |
Hikari let out another slightly shaky sigh and leaned against Kyran's side whens eh felt his arm around her. She blinked when she saw the fog enshroud them and then shook her head and rested it against Kyran again. She kept her eyes closed until she heard the engines shut off and then opened them again to look around at the islands. She was more than relieved to see that they'd made it in once piece at least. When the driver told them to get off she stood up and walked rather quickly over to the ramp, clearly more than happy to oblige. Once her feet were firmly panted on the ground again and sighed and turned around to look back toward the others.
Nanashi just sighed and closed his own eyes again, only now realizing that he was starting to get a little chilly. He opened his eyes again and blinked when he realized that they were in a fog. He crossed his arms over his chest and scooted a little closer to LaRae on the bench while they continued on to the islands. It probably wasn't really cold out at all but between the sea, the night air, and the fog he was pretty chilly, but then that didn't take much. Once they got there he started to look around a bit until he heard the driver tell them to get off. He sighed and stood up again, snagging LaRae's hand and nearly dragged her around to the other side and off the ramp, though he glanced back to where Aamori had been taken on his way down the ramp, quirking a brow when he saw her still up there. Celestine sighed softly when Nobu told him to stop apologizing. "...Sorry." he muttered again. He guessed that could get annoying, he just felt back because the poor thing kept whining. Intelligent as he was, Nobu was still an animal, and Celestine couldn't help but treat him like one at times. He raised his head when he heard that it was time to get off and then pushed himself up. He was still tired, but at least now it was more from wanting to sleep than physical exhaustion. He rubbed Nobu's head gently and then stood up and started toward the ramp, glancing back to him for a moment before he continued off the boat. |
Kyran started to get to his after Hikari had already gone to get off the boat. He'd relaxed quite a bit himself so he wasn't in quite as big a hurry to get off. He started towards the ramp and then slipped down it onto the ground. He moved over by Hikari and then started to look around a little. They'd changed things around a little since the last time he'd been here. Or at least it looked that way.
LaRae started to look up when she heard the engines cut off. She was going to get up herself, eventually, but Nanashi had already taken her hand and started to get off the boat. Once her feet were back on the ground she gave a brief sigh of relief before looking at Nanashi and trying to smile a bit. She was glad to be off the boat and it was probably obvious because her mood seemed to improve a bit. Nobu didn't start to get up until after Celestine was already off the boat. As he started to get to his feet he tried to suppress more whines that were escaping. Once he was on his feet he started for the ramp at a slower, obviously more careful pace then what he usually would have taken. He paused at the ramp for a moment and then stepped down onto it. As soon as his spine shifted so that he could walk down the ramp he whined again quietly. He didn't want to be whining when he felt pain, but there wasn't anything else that he could do. He just wasn't capable of keeping that to himself. He hushed another whine when his body spine shifted again when he stepped down from the ramp. He then walked over to stand near Celestine. Nero stood up and walked to the back of the deck near the ramp and waited until the others were off of the boat. He watched a bit more closely when Nobu started down and quirked a brow slightly. He hadn't seen Celestine fall on him so he was curious as to what was causing the thing enough pain to make him whine. He started to head down the ramp but stopped when he noticed that they were missing someone. Of course it was Aamori, the one they'd need to be able to get around the town. He shook his head after he looked back up to the upper deck and saw her peeking from there. He sighed heavily when she ducked her head after noticing she had been spotted. He stood there for a moment longer before starting over to the ladder that lead up to where she was. "...Aamori... Come down from there..." He muttered. If she didn't he planned to go up after her. As soon as Nero got close to the ladder the guy pushed off from the railing and went straight over. He put himself between Nero and the ladder and then pushed Nero back a few steps. He didn't say a word and then started up the ladder himself. He looked at Aamori and set his hand out to her to help her up. "C'mon, Miss." He said lightly. "You don't have to stay up here any longer." Once she gave him her hand he pulled her to her feet and then started down the ladder first so he could help her down. Aamori really didn't want to come down, she didn't want to be around Hikari or Kyran for that matter. Both of them had heard about the sharks and the look that Kyran gave her was enough to unsettle her completely. So she could only imagine the chewing out she was in for. Once she was down on the main deck again she looked up to the guy who'd driven them all the way out here and apologized for making him do it. Then she turned and looked at Nero for a moment before walking towards the ramp with her head hung low and her ears pinned back. If the others hadn't needed her to be able to get around the main town she would've bunked in the upper deck for the night. She slipped down the ramp and practically scurried off to the side away from everyone else. Nero just stood there when the guy pushed him away from the the ladder. He shook his head as he watched him go up and bring Aamori down. Once Aamori started to exit the boat he turned and followed after her immediately. He watched her scurry off to the side and shook his head. He'd over heard the conversation and was probably going to be the only one of the bunch that wasn't going to hold it against her for not saying anything before they set sail. To him, he was just glad that they made it in one piece across the water. |
Hikari just remained standing there quietly beside Kyran, though she did glance back to the boat again when she realized that Aamori wasn't down there with them. She looked up when she saw her still on the upper deck and sighed heavily before shaking her head after she'd ducked. She wasn't too thrilled with Aamori's judgment right now, but she wasn't really angry at her. She had seemed pretty convinced that the sharks weren't going to bother them, and she guessed one bumping the boat wasn't too bad...it was just really freaky, especially right after hearing how those things could sink the boat so easily. Once Aamori had come down and scurried away from them she just sighed again.
Nanashi looked down to LaRae again and offered her a weak smile before he remembered to release her hand. He still had one arm crossed over his stomach, though he finally lowered it. He still looked a little sick if you really payed attention, but he'd get over it soon now that he was back on firm ground. He watched Aamori come scampering off of the ramp and move away from the rest of them and then tilted his head slightly and moved a little bit closer to her. "Um...Aamori, are you alright?" He asked unsurely. He had no idea what was going on with her. Celestine stopped right at the edge of the ramp and looked back, his ears falling slgihtly when he heard Nobu whine again. He backed up a little to make sore room and then once he came to stand beside him he knelt down to him and started to stroke his fur again, looking at him apologetically. "What hurts?" he asked, wondering if it was something that he could help once he got him off to himself. |
Kyran turned slightly and looked over at Aamori once she was headed down the ramp. When she scurried off to the side away from them he shook his head a little. He wasn't all that upset with her anymore, it was a passing emotion that he got over pretty quickly since no one was hurt and the shark had left them alone. He guessed that she felt bad enough as it was that he didn't really need to say anything to her about it.
Nobu turned his head slightly to look over at Celestine once he had knelt down beside him. He stared at him for a moment and then turned his head away. '...Don't worry about it.' He paused. 'I'll be fine after I rest.' Or so he assumed. His back was what was bothering him at the present. It was rather sore but like he thought, after some sleep it should get better. Aamori continued to keep her head low even when Nanashi moved a little closer to her. She just stood there after he asked his question, not bothering to look up at him. "...Y-yes." She answered quietly. Then she turned and started over towards the gate to this pier since she assumed that everyone else was ready to go. She continued to hang her head and walked over to the gate without looking up and wound up walking right into the metal bars, smacking her head against them pretty hard. She staggered back a couple steps and lifted her hand to her forehead and rubbed it as she lifted her head to see what she'd hit. She gave a heavy sigh when she saw that his gate was locked as well. She should've known that. The gates are supposed to lock at the same times on both sides of the water. One of the guards on this side of the water watched as she walked up to the gate. He expected her to stop and when she didn't and she smacked her head into the gate he just stared at her. So much for paying attention to where one was walking. He moved over to her and looked down at her. "Let me open this first." He said as he put his hand on her shoulder and gently pushed her back a little more so that he could get to the lock. He made quick work of opening the gate for her and then looked back to her. Giving her a once over and then noticing the staff in it's holster. At first he would've guessed she was some commoner who was able to bribe the guys at the other pier into letting her get across the water but now seeing the Elders staff he knew otherwise. "Is your head alright, Miss?" He asked and then received a short nod from Aamori. He sighed and then looked over at the rest of the people who had come off the same boat as her. "Are all of them with you?" He inquired, receiving yet another nod. This guy at least seemed a little less upset with the idea of letting the others pass. He stepped off to the side of the gate and stood there waiting for them to exit the pier. Once they did he planned on locking up the gate again. Aamori stood there until the guard stepped off to the side. Once he had she looked over at him and uttered a quiet apology to him as well since he had to up to let them through. She then started through the gate, stopping a few feet on the other side. It was a little later then she had hoped it would be when she got back home so she wasn't entirely too sure where she wanted to take everyone for the night. To her parents was out of the question because that was located on one of the smaller islands surrounding the one they were on now. It'd be a longer walk then she wanted to take them there. Well, that left the option of either an Inn or the training grounds where she practically lived. The main island was almost completely round and pretty large, by far the largest island on all of Kairava. The town was for the most part divided into districts and all the roads and walk ways were done in a sandy colored cobblestone. The outer most area around the whole island was nothing but beach, with white sand, clear blue water and a bunch of palm trees. Then just in from that was a section of buildings that circled the island, these were residential homes. The upper class by the looks of them. Then the section in from that one was for the merchants. Anyone with anything to sell usually purchased a small shop and opened it up there. During the day this section was usually buzzing with people. Then there were two other sections that had nothing in them at the moment. They were nothing more then grassy open area's filled with fountains, some benches, a few palm trees and small flowering shrubs. Quite obviously they were currently using those two sections as a park of some sort for now. Though there were plans to build eventually. Then finally, at the center of the whole island was an extremely large building. It could just barely be seen from the pier. It was completely round, though the center of the circle was empty. So from the sky it looked like a giant letter 'O'. That building, was the one place Aamori wasn't looking forward to returning to. The training grounds. |
Nanashi nodded slightly at Aamori and then sighed softly, shaking his head when she walked right into the bars. Well obviously something was bothering her. He knew Aamori was a little clumsy, he'd gathered at least that much in their short time together, but he still couldn't believe that she would just walk right into something like that. Though of course she probably could have avoided it if he would get her head out of the sand. She looked like she wanted to just bury herself. He glanced back to LaRae and titled his head slightly while Aamori was getting the gate opened, though once he was open he waited for Kyran and Hikari to get moving before he started out after them, obviously not wanting to be the first one in there after Aamori. He didn't know what was going on, but he had gathered that her people seemed very protective of her for some reason, so that staff must mean something. Either way...he was trying to just be careful and not make any sudden moves around her. He knew the water clan wasn't particularly fond of the fire clan and even though he didn't consider himself a part of that clan, everyone else would. He felt like he was going to be walking on egg shells for a while.
Hikari watched Aamori walk into the bars and sighed softly. That girl was going to give herself a concussion the way she kept smacking her head on things. Once the gate was open and Aamori started in she started forward as well, giving the guard a polite nod of acknowledgment on her way through. Once she was over there she looked around for a moment before she walked over to Aamori and placed her hand on her shoulder. "Are you alright?" she asked, looking at her head. Celestine wasn't really paying attention to Aamori right now, he just continued to stroke Nobu's fur gently, apparently still trying to make up for hurting him. He rubbed behind his ears until he heard the others starting to walk away, then he stood up again and sighed softly, running his hand over his head one more time. "Come on..." he said quietly before he turned to follow the others through the gate. He came to a stop only a little ways behind the others and waited to see which direction everyone was going in next. |
Aamori looked up at Hikari briefly after she asked if she was alright and then averted her eyes. Her forehead was reddened, but that was about it. Thankfully she hadn't hit those bars too hard. She gave a small nod. "...Y-yes. I'm fine." She uttered quietly. She was quiet again for a moment and finally opened her mouth again. "I'm sorry. I wasn't thinking." She mumbled and then slipped her shoulder away from Hikari and started to walk the straight path that lead through all the districts and all the way back to the training grounds building.
Kyran passed through the gate after Hikari had, glancing to the guard as he went through. At least that one didn't seem have any gripes so far. Once on the other side he stopped and looked around a little more, noticing the cobblestone pathway that they'd stepped out onto. That wasn't there the last time he was here. It was a nice improvement from the sand that was everywhere. Now it seemed that they had cleaned up a bit and made things look a lot nicer. Though, he'd rather have a look around in the morning since it was dark out now and there wasn't much light other then a couple posts along this main stretch of pathway that were lit up. He looked over to Hikari and Aamori just about the time Aamori started walking again. He gave a soft sigh and then started after her. LaRae looked to Nanashi when he glanced over at her and smiled slightly. Once Aamori had gone through the gate, and then Hikari and Kyran too, she of course followed. She glanced to the guard briefly as she passed through and then on the other side she looked around a little. This territory was definitely different than any other she'd seen and she quirked a brow when she caught sight of one of the palm trees off to the side. It was tall, and certainly a plant but she'd never seen a tree like that before. Her attention shifted again when she noticed that Aamori had started walking again. She stared over at the palm tree for a moment and then started to walk once more. Nobu started after Celestine once he had started walking again. He continued to step a bit more carefully as he walked, though he did make sure to keep up with Celestine. He turned his head slightly to look up at the guard when he passed by him and then shook his head lightly at the expression on the guards face. It always made him laugh on the inside when someone had to do a double take. He'd continue to follow after Celestine at least until they stopped for the night. Nero like usual waited until everyone else had passed through the gate, and then he followed. He didn't bother looking to the guard as he passed he just stepped by quietly and then waited until Aamori got moving again. Aamori continued walking without bothering to look up. She didn't expect anyone to really be outside right now. Most of the people who lived on this island were in there homes by this time on most days. She wound up running into someone though. After she hit the person she staggered back a couple feet and tripped over her own tail which resulted in her falling on rear. She started to apologize for running into the person but shut her mouth when she recognized the woman. She could only see her back, but she could tell Hisako from a mile away. She was a little taller then Aamori and obviously older. She had dark blue hair that fell just past her shoulders, tied tightly into a pony tail. She had two small ivory horns on top of her head and her wings and tail were a couple shades lighter than her hair. She had two different colored eyes, one was dark blue whereas the other was pale blue. She wore a black body suit made from wet suit material with a blue coat style top that buttoned over the chest. The top was sleeveless except for the left arm. Then the tails of the top flared out as they fell right behind her knees. She also had two belts on, one buckled across each hip and a pair of ankle high boots. She stumbled forward a little and then she turned around slightly to look over her shoulder to see who'd run into her. She lifted a gloved hand and pushed her bangs back behind her ear as she looked down at Aamori. "You're back!" She smiled quite happily when she saw Aamori and then held her hand out to her to help her back to her feet. "I was wondering when you'd come home." She said once Aamori was standing again. "And you're still just as clumsy as ever, I see." She said with a soft laugh as she tapped her index finger to Aamori's reddened forehead. She'd been so happy to see Aamori that she really hadn't even noticed the others that were with her. |
Hikari sighed when Aamori pulled away from her and just shook her head, starting after her once again, though she did look around a bit, not that she could see very much. She stopped a few paces behind Aamori when she ran into the woman and shook her head slightly. Honestly she wished the girl would us her eyes. She was about ready to go help her up, but the woman beat her to it, so she just hung back and stood there quietly.
Nanashi glanced at LaRae and offered her a weak smile before he started after the rest of them again, keeping with LaRae again. He glanced around a bit and sighed softly, gazing at the palm trees and then looking around at the buildings. He came to a stop with the others when Aamori ran into someone and sighed. He looked the woman over for a moment and then glanced back to LaRae again. That other woman was a little odd looking to him, though not really in a bad way. He just thought her outfit was kind of strange. Apparently she knew Aamori, but then it seemed a lot of people seemed to know who she was here. Celestine walked behind the others at a slightly slower pace when he realized that Nobu was trying to keep up with him. He was trying to make things easy on him. He losers his hand to rest on hes head as they walked, but he kept quiet for now. He didn't bother to look around much, he was too tired to really care for sight seeing. Once everyone else stopped he looked down to Nobu again and then started to rub his ears again before he glanced up to the woman that Aamori had bumped into. Judging by the familiarity between them he guessed this might have been that trainer that she had mentioned. |
Aamori dusted herself off a little after Hisako had helped her up. She just stared at her while she poked her forehead and then sighed. "Nice to see you too, Hisako." She said quietly. "What are you still doing outside?" She asked curiously. It was pretty strange to see Hisako out when it was dark, well, unless she was stuck doing some job.
Hisako lowered her hand back down to her side and sighed softly. "Straight to business apparently..." She said under her breath. "I was checking on my grandmothers shop. Making sure that it was buttoned up." She answered. She finally took a step back from Aamori and looked around at the others that were there. She quirked a brow slightly at the lot of them and then looked back down to Aamori. "...Are these people with you, Aamori?" Aamori nodded a little when Hisako answered her question and then glanced back over her shoulder at the others and then looked back to Hisako. "Yes. We just got in." She paused. "And we're going to need a place to sleep." She said as she lifted her hand a little and pointed past her towards the training building. Hisako turned and looked the way Aamori pointed and nodded slightly. "Of course. You know they're welcome to stay there, so long as you want them there." She said as she turned back. She stood there for a moment and then glanced back over the at the others again briefly. That sure was a strange group. But if Aamori wanted to give them all a place to stay she couldn't very well tell her no. She stepped to the side of Aamori and smiled a bit. "Hello everyone. My name is Hisako, and welcome to Kairava." She paused. "None of you need to go introducing yourselves just yet, I'm sure I'll get your names eventually. For now, lets get you all some place to sleep." She said pleasantly. She didn't really have anything against the other clans herself. But like most of the people from her clan she was a bit uncomfortable around the fire clan. She turned around and waited for Aamori before she started to walk back to the training building. Aamori turned and looked at Hisako when she introduced herself to the others and smiled a little. At least Hisako was nice enough to say something to them, whereas most others would've just gone on with what they were doing. Like the guy who drove the boat. She sighed softly when Hisako started towards the building and followed after her. She was at least looking forward to getting to sleep in her own bed again. Kyran stood quietly while Aamori and the other woman talked and then looked to the woman when she finally stepped aside and introduced herself. He nodded his head lightly in acknowledgment since she had said they didn't need to introduce themselves right away. That was probably for the better, as he was sure most everyone was ready to sleep. At least he was anyway. When the two of them started walking again he too started after them. LaRae glanced over to the woman that Aamori had run into and then stood quietly while the two of them talked. When the woman introduced herself she stared at her for a moment and couldn't help thinking to herself that the woman had a strange name. Then again, Hisako would probably say the same thing about any of their names. Once they started walking again she glanced over to Nanashi momentarily and then started after them. Hisako kept walking the rest of the way past the merchant district and through the park, straight up to the largest building in the immediate area. It was made from a thick sandstone and nearly the same color as the cobblestone beneath it. The building itself looked incredibly plain and only had a couple windows every few feet at about the same height all the way around, along with the one set of large double doors. She paused at the double doors and pulled them open so that everyone could head inside. The inside of the building was rather large itself. As soon as you went inside you'd notice that the wall that surrounded the opening in the middle of the building wasn't solid like you'd think it should've been. Around the entire inside wall there were arched openings every two feet that lead into the center court yard where most of the training was done. In the center of the opening there was a square section of ground made from stone, all around that was grass that lead all the way to the arched openings in the interior wall. There was also a fountain off to the side of the court yard and a couple palm trees as well. The interrior of the circle where you'd find yourself standing once you entered the building had quite a number of doors along either side that lead all the way to the opposite side of the building. She stepped inside the building and then pointed at two doors on either side of the building. The doors were directly across the center most point of the court yard, to the left and to the right. All four doors, the two on the left and the two on the right were colored dark blue whereas the rest of the doors were sand colored, minus the one door directly across from the enterance where they were standing. That door was light blue. "There are those four doors. The dark blue ones, they're the guest rooms." She said as she turned back and looked at everyone. "You're welcome to divide yourselves up how ever you want between those four rooms, only. There's one large bed in each of the rooms along with a two person couch." She turned to Aamori and smiled a little as she set her hand down on her shoulder. "And I hope you haven't forgotten where your room is." She said with a soft laugh. |
Hikari smiled slgihtly when Hisako introduced herself and opened her mouth to give her own name before she was told them not to worry about it right now. She smiled and nodded her head once in understanding and then started after Aamori and Hisako when the continued toward the building. She was rather impressed by the sheer size of the building, especially once they got to the inside. The place almost reminded her of a mini Colosseum. She smiled again once Hisako showed them where the guest rooms were. "Thank you very much." she said lightly and then glanced to Kyran as if to ask if they were getting back to their usual sleeping routine.
Nanashi just looked at Hisako silently, not even offering to open his mouth or really even meet her eyes, though he did glance at them long enough to realize that they weren't the same color. He kept his eyes low until LaRae started to move ahead of him and then he raised them to look at her again as he followed after her. He nearly gawked when he saw the size of the building they were going to. He honestly felt privileged just to be able to sleep in a house, let alone a place like this. He was half afraid to go inside once the door was open, and when he did finally go in, only after LaRae, he stared around, a little awestruck. He'd never seen anything quite like this before. He looked down to LaRae for a moment to see what she was making of it, and then glanced down to the blue doors what Hisako was pointing at. He sighed softly, glad to hear that they could divide up however they wanted. He really didn't want to bother Kyran with his sleeping habits anymore. Celestine looked around quietly once they reached the building, not too surprised by it's size, actually. He'd expected something about like this. He looked around for a few minutes and then sighed softly when he saw the guest rooms. He was really uncomfortable sleeping in strange houses, honestly the only beds that he could ever stand to sleep in where at Marius' or Sonia's house. He hoped these people didn't mind his strange sleeping habits, but he had a feeling that if he wasn't somewhere up high where he wasn't closed in that he wasn't going to be getting too much sleep here. He looked down to Nobu again and placed his hand back on his head. '...Are you coming with me?' |
Aamori looked at Hisako and sighed. "Of course I remember where my room is..." She said quietly and then slid her shoulder away from Hisako and started forward through one of the arches and out into the center court yard. She was glad to be back in Kairava but she wasn't looking forward to the cram session she knew was coming. Not to mention she was still felt a little bad about the whole shark thing. If that shark hadn't bumped the boat right after she finished telling them about them, she might not have been so upset with herself. She stepped out onto the square in the center of the court yard and gave a heavy sigh as she stopped and looked around a little. It looked like nothing had really been used while she was gone. There were a couple weapon racks against the interior wall where there was no arch. Not a single one of those weapons looked like they'd been touched. She shook her head lightly and glanced back towards Hisako when she heard her speaking.
Hisako pulled her hand back when Aamori moved. She glanced over to the light dragon and smiled. "You're welcome, but you shouldn't thank me. Without Aamori you'd all be sleeping outside." She said managing to keep her smile. She turned around and stepped closer to the arch that Aamori had walked through and looked at her when she stopped at the stone floor. "Hey, Aamori." She started. "Don't forget to change back into your training clothes in the morning." She started to turn back to the others but paused, having something else to add. "Oh! And those common clothes, just throw them out. You know you can't wear those around here." Aamori let out a heavy sigh when Hisako finished speaking. She knew Hisako was going to tell her to change into her training clothes in the morning. That much was expected but she didn't care too much for hearing that she needed to throw out the clothes she had on. She didn't think there was anything wrong with the stuff though at the same time she knew she wouldn't be allowed to wear them around Kairava. She stared back at Hisako for a moment and then continued across the court yard to the light blue door. She pulled it open and slipped inside shutting it behind her without a word to anyone. Hisako shook her head when Aamori went to her room and shut the door without saying anything. She had guessed that Aamori was already in a bad mood, and what she said must have struck a nerve. She sighed softly and turned back around to look at the others for a moment. "...It should go without much saying that you shouldn't leave this building until morning." She paused. "In the morning if you want to leave here on your own and Aamori says it's okay then I can give each of you passes that will allow you to wander around the main island without an escort." She paused. "Without one, the guard will probably pick you up and treat you as a trespasser." She explained. "Well... that's everything for now, I think." She smiled and then started to head down the right side of the building. She got a few feet and paused, turning back slightly. "Oh! One more thing. Each of the guest rooms has a half bath attached to it. If you need to bathe there is a male and female bath a couple doors down from the guest rooms. The male's bath is on the left side and the female's is on the right. The doors are of course marked. Also, don't be alarmed by the size of the baths. They are supposed to be that large." She said with a soft laugh before continuing on down the right side and disappearing behind a door that was marked stairs. Kyran honestly wasn't surprised by the building only because he had seen it once before. Though, this was the first time that he was allowed on the inside. It was definitely a sight on the inside too. He guessed, after the way Hisako was talking that Aamori lived here? That would be his only explanation as to why she had her own room. He sighed softly and then looked down to Hikari. He smiled a bit and reached for her hand, taking it gently before heading down the left side once Hisako had walked off. He would have headed to a room sooner, but he thought he'd listen in at that last part about the baths. He was pretty sure he'd be needing one eventually. He walked to the first dark blue door and reached for the knob pulling it open and holding the door for Hikari. LaRae was quite surprised by the size of the building. Once inside she started looking around at a few different things with slightly wide eyes. She really couldn't believe that Aamori stayed in a place like this. All she ever remembered Aamori telling her about was what seemed like a normal house. She looked to Hisako and then to the doors that she had pointed out as guest rooms. She was about to head down towards one until Hisako started explaining a few things to them. She sighed softly after she was done talking. She didn't really plan to go leaving the area right away, right now she just wanted to lay down and relax. She waited until Hisako started to walk off before following her down the right side. Pausing for a moment to look and see if Nanashi was following her or not before she continued down to the first blue door on the right side. Nero continued to stand quietly throughout all of the talking and explanations. Once Hisako was done speaking he turned and headed down to the left side and went straight for the second door without a word to anyone. He slipped in the door and shut it behind him wasting very little time getting over to the bed and kicking his boots off before he laid down. He was honestly surprised by just how comfortable the bed was once he laid down. He didn't even have to shift at all. He was comfortable enough to sleep after practically just falling on the bed. Nobu just stood still after they reached the building and were inside. He didn't bother keeping an ear out to what was being said around him. At this point he didn't care to listen to any of them. He was just ready to lay down and try to get around to feeling better. He did lift his head however when he heard Celestine and felt his hand on his head. '...If you'll let me.' He answered. He didn't like to just go hop in bed with anyone unless he was invited. Well, if it was Kyran then he didn't bother waiting for an invite. |
Hikari blinked when Hisako said that without Aamori they would all be sleeping outside. Well that was nice to know. She just kept her own smile in place until Hisako turned around then it dropped. She looked at Kyran again when he took her hand and smiled slightly, though she listened to the information about the baths and then followed Kyran down the hall and smiled when he opened the door for her. "Why thank you." she said as she stepped inside. She looked around the room and smiled, removing her bow before leaning it against the wall beside the door. She walked over to the bed and sat down on the edge, removing her boots. "Whew...all the rules are going to take some getting used to." she admitted as she put her boots off to the side of the bed. She still didn't really like the way that Hisako said that they'd all be outside if not for Aamori. If not for Aamori they wouldn't be here in the first place. She wasn't all that used to being out of her territory except for on special events like the festival and even then she wasn't running around as a commoner so she didn't usually have too many things to go by other than the basic. For the most part if a royal from another clan was in your territory it was a given that they were invited because otherwise they really didn't leave their own territories.
Nanashi listened quietly to Hisako and glanced around again. He didn't really like the sound of the baths not being in the rooms, and he had a feeling that they were meant for more than one person at a time. He'd go dirty first. He looked down to LaRae when she started to walk away and followed her to the other room, slipping past her just as she got to the door to open it for her before he stood off to the side. He smiled at her and laughed softly at his own gesture. He never had really understood why guys were supposed to open doors for girls and usually he didn't, but he thought he'd try it once. He just stood there quietly, waiting for her to go inside. Celestine sighed softly, only half listening to what Hisako was saying. He didn't plan to leave the building tonight...though he didn't know if they considered the roof leaving the building. He shook his head and then nodded to Nobu. 'Of course I will...' he replied as if he should have known that already. He rubbed his head and then watched where everyone else was heading before he went to the last door on the right and opened it, waiting for Nobu to get inside before he went in and closed the door behind him. Once inside he remove his swallow and his back, sitting both against the wall and then sighed heavily and looked around the room. "...I really don't think I will be able to sleep in here..." he muttered as he went to the bed to sit down, removing his moccasins once he was seated. |
Kyran entered the room after Hikari and pulled the door shut behind him. He glanced around the room a little and then walked over to the small couch. He lifted his blades out his holster and then set them down on the floor beside the couch. The least likely place he thought they'd be kicked or run into. He looked over to Hikari as he started unbuttoning his vest. "The rules aren't that bad." He said and then started slipping his wings from his vest. "They are just different." He said with a nod and then set his vest over top the arm of the couch. He then started over to the opposite side of the bed and sat on the edge as he kicked his own boots off. "Oh, and those passes they give out are standard for this set of islands." He paused. "I had to have one the last time I was here. They're just over protective around the islands that the Elders and Royals are on. If we were on any of the other ones they'd be a little more lenient."
LaRae came to a stop when she saw Nanashi slip past her and open the door for her. She smiled at him. "Thank you." She said as she stepped into the room. She glanced around the room a little as she walked over to the bed and sat down. She then reached down and started to untie her boots and then slip her feet out of them. She set her boots off to the side of the bed and then brought her legs up on the bed. Nobu followed Celestine back to the room and headed inside when the door was held open for him. He moved over to the foot of the bed and set himself down gently on the floor, only whining a little in the process. He lowered his head down onto his paws. 'Why not? The room seems pretty nice to me.' |
Hikari looked over to Kyran and shook her head. "I know they are difference...hence why they will take some getting used to." she said with a soft laugh. She laid back on the bed and stretched out a little once she swung her legs up onto the bed. She looked at him again when he sat down and sighed, "Well I suppose I can see that." she said simply. "I'm not sure what I expected. Things will probably go over about the same when we first get to Glenys...at least for Nero, I doubt much if anything will be said about the rest of you. I'm going to have to keep Ishta on a leash to make sure she doesn't bother the poor guy to death." She shook her head slightly, half wondering if Aamori got as annoyed with people guarding her every move as much as she did. Hikari didn't particularly like to be bothered by guards or anything else for that matter. She only put up with Ishta because they had been friends for years and even at that she sometimes wanted to tell her to get a life.
Nanashi returned the smile to LaRae and then followed her into the room, pulling the door closed behind him. "...Nice place, isn't it?" he asked quietly as he started to unbuckle the harness so he could put his weapon down somewhere. He sure as hell wasn't sleeping with that thing on. Once he for it off he walked over to the couch and leaned it against the wall beside it before he sat down and started to take off his shoes. Once he was free of them he sat them beside the couch and then looked at the bed and smiled again. Celestine sighed softly and walked over to the bed, sitting down in the floor in front of Nobu. "...I don't know...I just have trouble sleeping inside someone else's house... that's why I stayed on the roof all night at Kyran's, I couldn't make myself fall asleep anywhere else. Strangers make me nervous and so do closed in spaces. I guess I'm just weird..." He raised his hand and started to stroke Nobu's fur gently, running his hand down his spine lightly. "Is your back alright?" he asked quietly before he leaned his forehead against Nobu's lightly. "You don't have to sleep in the floor, you can have the whole bed if you want it, I can stay on the couch if you want more room." |
Kyran turned slightly on the bed so that he could look over at her without much struggle. "I actually hadn't thought about that." He paused. "Nero probably won't be too thrilled if he's got guards, and or Ishta on him at all times while we're in Glenys." He sighed softly. "I guess it slipped my mind since we've encountered little to no resistance up until now. Go figure that this territory and yours would be the ones that first started any real discrimination... That boat's driver was probably the first that's had any real obvious problem with any of us..." He wasn't meaning for what he said to come off the wrong way. He was just surprised that the first two territories went by without any real problems and he had a feeling that with Hikari and Aamori being special like they were, of course the prejudices were bound to come out in their territories. If they had been just your run of the mill commoner like he was, or like the others than he suspected it'd be easier to go around and do what they needed to without much trouble. He glanced back at her for a moment and smiled softly before he turned back to that he was sitting on the edge of the bed again. "I suppose I should've asked before I sat down..." He paused. "Would you prefer that I sleep on the couch or is it alright that I share this bed with you?" He'd only thought he should ask since sleeping on the ground with her, and sleeping in a bed with her were kind of two different things. He just wanted to make sure that she was comfortable.
LaRae watched as Nanashi got out of his weapons harness and then sat down on the couch. "Yes, it is." She paused. "This place, wasn't quite what I was expecting. Aamori never talked about this place when we were kids." She said as she glanced around the room once more. The room was nice in itself. She could only imagine what the rest of the island looked like during the day if just a single room could look so nice. She looked back over to Nanashi and smiled a bit. "Are you going to sleep on the couch?" She paused. "The beds pretty comfortable, you know..." Nobu lifted his head slightly when Celestine came over and sat down on the floor in front of him. '...I guess I can understand that. Though, there aren't any strangers in this room and it's not exactly closed in. There is a window.' He paused and lowered his head back down onto his paws. 'My back... it hurts.' He paused. 'And I'm fine on the floor for now. I couldn't possibly get onto the bed without hurting myself at the moment, even if I wanted to.' |
Hikari sighed softly and gave a slight shrug. "It was bound to happen sooner or later..." she said simply. Honestly she was surprised that they had gone as far as they had without many problems. Of course they did have a small one in Caledonia, but it was mostly with Nanashi. She looked over to him and smiled slgihtly, "I think you are a little too long to fit on the couch." she said with a soft chuckle, "I do not mind where you sleep, Kyran." she assured him as she motioned to the other half of the bed. "At least now there is a chance that I may latch onto a pillow instead of you." she said with another laugh.
Nanashi shrugged slightly. "My guess would be that she wasn't allowed..." he said quietly. This place didn't really seem like one that should be talked about among other clans, "...Just like you're not allowed to say some things." He smiled when she asked if he was sleeping on the couch and then stood up, taking the invitation to move over to the bed. He sat down on the opposite side of the bed from where she was and then looked over to her. "...It is." He said quietly with a slight smile before he swung his legs up and laid back. After a moment he rolled onto his side with one arm under his head so that he could face LaRae. Celestine shook his head slightly. "...Not in the room...but the building..." he sighed softly when he said that his back hurt and again gave him those apologetic eyes. He really wished he'd been able to catch himself. "...I'm sorry..." he said quietly again as he resumed stroking his head gently. "I will be more careful..." He shifted over beside Nobu and laid down in the floor beside him, gently resting his head against Nobu's shoulder blade. He nuzzled him gently and then sighed again as he curled his tail around himself. |
Kyran glanced over at the couch again. "...I guess I am a bit vertically challenged for the size of that couch." He said shaking his head lightly. He sat back on the bed and brought his legs up since she didn't mind. He laid back and then turned his head so he could look at her. "If there is a chance of that, then I may have to take your pillow away from you." He said with a smile followed by a soft laugh.
LaRae looked at Nanashi as he came over to the bed and laid down. She smiled a little and then gave a soft sigh. "Maybe. But the things I'm not supposed to talk about, those came after her and I stopped being allowed to see one another. Though, I suppose that's hardly relevant now." She laid back on the bed herself and then turned onto her side so that she could look at him. "...How are you feeling?" She asked, referring to him having gotten sick when he was on the boat. She'd noticed he looked sick but had forgotten to say anything until now. Nobu lifted his head for a briefly. '...Didn't I say you could stop apologizing?' He paused. 'That didn't mean for that specific time frame, you know.' He honestly wasn't upset or anything with the fact that Celestine had fallen on him and hurt him. It was an accident and he didn't think Celestine needed to go around apologizing as much as he had. He laid his head back down on his paws when he saw that Celestine had laid down beside him. '...At least you know several of the people in this building and you don't have to go far to find them.' |
Hikari laughed softly and shook her head as she looked over at him and then rolled onto her side, latching onto his arm. "And here I thought you didn't like waking up with me clinging to you." she said with a soft laugh. She snuggled her face into his arm and then sighed contently and closed her eyes.
Nanashi shook his head slightly. "...I'm fine... I was just sea sick..." he said quietly, "I've never been on a boat before...it was a little too wavy for me." he said with a soft laugh. "Were it not for the fog I think I would prefer to fly back to the mainland when we return." he said simply. It may be tiring but at least flying didn't make him feel the need to hurl. Celestine sighed softly and just nuzzled into Nobu's fur a little more. "...I know...I just feel bad about it... I should have tried to avoid you." he said quietly. Honestly he was only vaguely aware that Nobu was even there, but still he felt that he could have missed him for the most part had he done something. He cracked his eyes open and looked at Nobu for a moment then sighed again and closed them back. "...and I know... but there's a difference between knowing someone... and knowing who someone is. I don't really know any of them. We're all a bunch of strangers traveling together....well except for Aamori and LaRae. We haven't been together long enough to really know each other... or at lest...I don't think so." He shook his head slightly, "...It doesn't matter..." he said quietly, "Just rest...I hope your back feels better in the morning." Celestine couldn't really help the way he saw things. To him the other were strangers...nice strangers, but still strangers. He could call them friends, but he didn't know them well enough to say that he completely and honestly trusted them. The only people that he had ever fully trusted were all dead but Marius and Kanone. He sighed again. It was amazing how along a person could feel when they were completely surrounded by people. He only felt slightly better around Nobu. At least he could talk to him and he wasn't really judgmental. He listened to him, and he didn't think he was strange for the way that he was, or at least if he did he didn't' show it. Aamori listened to him but she was a little opinionated when it came to some things that he disagreed with her on, as was Hikari and most anyone else. That was probably why it was so hard for him to make friends, he didn't trust anyone else the way they trusted him. Nobu may be intelligent but he was still an animal, so of course Celestine could get attached to him easily. Had Nobu had a human form...he honestly probably would not have had half of the conversations that they had shared with him. |
Kyran glanced over at Hikari and smiled softly seeing her snuggled into his arm. He couldn't say that he absolutely hated waking up with her clinging to him. So long as she wasn't pulling on his tail or something like that then he had no gripes. He lifted his head slightly and leaned forward so that he could kiss her forehead gently. Then he laid his head back and shut his eyes.
LaRae nodded lightly. "That was my first time on a boat too... though I admit it wasn't a very memorable experience." She uttered. She didn't really have any problems with taking the boat, although she could really stand to live without that shark that bumped the boat. Other then that she actually had kind of enjoyed the ride. She was glad however that she didn't get sea sick like he had. She'd probably try and steer clear of boats if she did. She continued to lay there for a moment and then smiled at him and shut her eyes gently. Nobu kept his head down this time. 'Stop worrying about it. It was an accident and you couldn't very well control where you fell. And if you keep on about how you should have avoided me, I'll just start going on about how I shouldn't have been asleep below you.' He paused. '...And you know ...You will continue to be strangers unless you put forth some effort to get to know some of them. I can tell you already that you and Nero are probably the only ones missing out on getting to really know one another. The others seem to at least be willing to put themselves out there to make this trip less like, traveling with a group of strangers.' He paused. '...Or maybe I'm just reading too much into things ...I am only an animal after all.' He said with a faint hint of sarcasm before he shifted slightly and got ready to go to sleep. |
Hikari smiled when she felt his lips against her head and nuzzled into his arm a little more. "Good night, Kyran." she said softly before she started trying to go to sleep. She was kind of tired since she'd actually gotten up really early today. Flying most of the day hadn't helped too much either.
Nanashi smiled at LaRae when he saw her smile and watched her close her eyes. He sighed softly and closed his own eyes, quite ready to sleep. He was beat after today so it was hard to stay awake once he was in the bed. It wasn't long before he was asleep. Celestine sighed softly when Nobu started. He ran his fingers through Nobu's fur again when he said that he was just an animal. "...You are my friend... right?" he asked quietly. He continued to stroke his fur gently and nuzzled him again. 'You understand me...' he thought absently, 'I like you...' He sighed softly, "...I'm honestly...not...sure how to...put myself out there..." he whispered quietly. 'They don't really understand how I think...' |
Nobu turned his head slightly when he heard Celestine's question. That had to be the first time he'd actually been asked that. Then again, not many people really knew that he was able to talk and was as intelligent as he was so who would honestly want to be friends with an animal like him? He pressed his head back down onto his paws. '...You know how to put yourself out there.' He paused. 'I mean you did just fine getting to know me a bit, and the only difference between myself and any one of them is the fact that I'm down on all fours all the time and covered in purple fur... If you ask me, being friends with them should be easier then being friends with me. At least they can relate to you better then I can.' He shifted slightly, but continued to lay there. 'How are any of them going to be able to understand how you think if you don't open up to them a little more ...and who said they had to understand how you think ...it's just a bonus if someone you can be friends with can understand exactly how you think. Then again, that's only my opinion.' He paused. '...As for your question ...if you really want to be friends with an animal, then I suppose you could all me that.'
|
Celestine sighed softly and continued to run his fingers though Nobu's fur as he went on. "...All of my friends are animals..." he said quietly, "...You don't really talk to any of the others...I feel safer talking to you about things that...I don't want other people to know." He sighed, "...Besides...after this trip everyone is going to go home...I won't be able to come and see Aamori here...you see how they are even when we came here with her. Nero doesn't seem too interested in making friends... and Kyran and Hikari are all over each other, same with LaRae and Nanashi. I think they're all getting a little closer than just friends..." He sighed quietly, "...It's easy for me to get attached to animals....but it's just as easy to let them go... it's...not like that with other dragons for me... I don't want to be friends with people that I'm hardy if ever going to see again..." He sighed again, "...One friend is plenty...you'll do fine." he said softly as he nuzzled against him a little more.
