Nanashi opened his eyes again for a moment when he felt LaRae lay down beside him and then turned his head slightly so that he could look at her. He was kind of surprised that she was staying in here. He wasn't going to be able to talk to her or anything really, and it was still kind of early, so he'd thought that she might walk in here with him then go back out after he got situated. He sighed softly and offered her a weak smile before he turned back the way that he was laying and closed his eyes again.
Hikari sighed softly when she saw that Aamori still didn't seem too confident. She just pulled her back against her for a moment and gave her another tight hug as she leaned her head over against hers. "...Trust me..." she said softly, "...I believe in you." She smiled slightly at her and then nuzzled her again before she loosened her grip and looked over to her for a moment before she caught a glimpse of Celestine out of the corner of her eye. She half smiled and then looked back down to Aamori again. "You'll be fine..." she said again, patting her shoulder as she started to get up again. "...Don't worry so much." she said quietly, "...I'm going to head back to the room now, okay?" she told her since she had a feeling that Celestine was waiting for her to go. Those two usually got along well so she thought it might be a good idea to let them talk. She placed her hand on Aamori's head for a moment, "You know where I am if you need me." she told her before she turned and started back toward the room she and Kyran were sharing. Celestine stood there for a few minutes after Hikari walked away and then sighed softly and walked out to the center of the court yard silently, pulling up behind Aamori. He placed his hands on her shoulders and leaned on her a little, his hair falling over his shoulder and over hers, which probably gave him away before he even spoke. "...Did I miss something?" he asked simply. |
Aamori still wasn't feeling confident, even after Hikari saying that she believed in her. Well, everyone in all of Kairava could believe in her but that didn't mean she could do it. She knew she was probably just being negative about all of this, but she just couldn't help it. When pressure was put on her she just kind of caved half of the time. She continued to just sit there, not bothering to move very much. When Hikari said she was returning to her room she didn't even bother to look back at her. "...See you in the morning." She uttered quietly. After she said that she shook her head lightly. She doubted really that she'd see any of them in the morning, she'd probably be too busy trying to master the ability to see anyone. She thought briefly about getting up to go get the book she needed with the spell in it, but she really wasn't very motivated to get started. She startled slightly when she felt hands on her shoulders again. She hadn't heard anyone walk up behind her so she hadn't expected it. She was about to assume it was Hikari until she saw the hair that brushed over her shoulder. She gave a small sigh hearing Celestine's question. With everything that had gone on today, she had almost forgotten he was around somewhere. Especially since he had voiced that he'd rather not be in the building. She didn't bother looking up at him when she replied. "...You could say that." She answered. "...I thought you didn't want to be in here..." She muttered. Her attention had been elsewhere for most of the day but his presence brought back what he'd said to her earlier in the morning.
Kyran was still laying on the bed, he hadn't moved very much. He was on his back with his eyes shut and his arms tucked behind his head. He wasn't asleep but he certainly was quiet enough to give off that perception. Though, given more quiet time to himself it probably wouldn't take very long for him to fall asleep just from being relaxed. The rooms themselves were pretty sound proof considering they were made of thick stone so it was definitely quiet in the room. It was just starting to be the dinner hour too, so the sun was in the process of setting which left the room dimly lit which was pretty relaxing too. |
Celestine sighed heavily and rolled his eyes when all Aamori could think to say to him was 'I thought you didn't want to be here.' "You know...you hang on to what I say far too well for your own good." he said simply before he removed his hands from her and walked around to sit in front of her. He knelt down and curled his tail up around his legs, though the tip still danced back and forth on the grass, "Every time I open my mouth you pick out the most negative thing I say to remember about the conversation. I suppose it slipped your mind that I was already irritated and was trying to keep from slapping your crazy brother." He said simply, "I thought you would have learned by now that given some time to myself I am not quite as crabby." He sighed heavily and stared at her for a few moments before he clasped his hands in his lap and leaned forward a little, "...So what has you out here kneeling like you're visiting a grave?"
Hikari finally opened the door an started into the bedroom, glancing over to the bed for a moment when she got in and then smiled when she saw Kyran there. She closed the door quietly behind her and then walked over to the couch and sat down to remove her boots again. Once she had those off she walked over to the bed and sat down on the edge of the bed before she reached over to place her hand on his cheek. "...You asleep?" she asked quietly, just in case. |
Aamori sighed softly. "You're always crabby..." She muttered under her breath. She knew that she had remembered the most negative thing he had said but she couldn't help it. She hated that he'd rather stay anywhere outside of the building and mostly because he didn't want to get into trouble for talking to her like he normally would. For all intents and purposes that kind of came off to her like he didn't want to be around her if he was going to have to watch what he said. She gave a sigh and looked over at him for a moment after he knelt down in front of her. Though she lowered her eyes to the ground when she went to answer his question. "...You've missed quite a bit that's gone on today." She started. "Simply put, since I don't want to bore you with the details..." She paused. "I've got two days starting tomorrow morning to master an Elder level ability or else I can't help you all with the relic and it's location." She uttered quietly and for once actually getting straight to the point. "...Should I fail to master it in time, the Elder will appoint someone else to help you all." She said quietly and then thought to pull out that note. She pulled back the long part of her dress so that she could reach her holster and tugged on the piece of paper removing it from under the strap of her holster. She looked at it folded up and then held it out to him. "Here." She paused. "I found this when I was with Hikari, she knows everything I know about where to look, well, as a lead. So if by chance someone else has to take you guys at least you'll have that little scribbled note and Hikari as aid." She might have thought to give that note to Hikari, but considering Yoichi lied about Hikari actually being in the library she didn't want to chance that news actually coming to light and them finding that note on her. The least likely person she thought anyone would check was Celestine, not to mention he'd probably have a conniption should anyone try to search him for any reason.
Kyran continued to lay there without moving even when Hikari made it over to the bed and touched his cheek. Though he gave in and smiled a bit after she asked if he was asleep. "No. I'm still very much awake." He answered finally. "Though it is quite relaxing just laying here." He added before opening his eyes to look at her. "...So ...how's Aamori?" He asked. "She looked pretty defeated before she even got started..." He said quietly. He'd have gone to talk with her himself, but Hikari had probably have been the better candidate for that talk. Now he was just curious to know if Aamori was doing any better than she looked before he came into the room. |
Celestine rolled his eyes slightly when she said that he was always crabby. "That can usually be constituted to the fact that someone is always annoying me." he said simply, though for once he didn't seem irritated. He was still in a pretty good mood after having the day to himself when he wasn't feeling completely miserable. He was still sad, but after his talk with Nobu he wasn't as bad off. He listened to her quietly and tilted his head slightly when she said that she had to master an ability in two days or she couldn't go with them. He blinked and then looked down at the paper she handed him and took it, though he only sat up on his knees to slip it into his pocket. He'd read it later if he remembered. He settled back down and continued to stare at her and then huffed, "Well you seem pretty sure that you're staying here." he commented bluntly. "Are you giving up on the idea before you even get started? If you're that worried why are you sitting here wasting time pouting instead of getting a head start on whatever it is? From the looks of you now you're not going to get anything done."
Hikari smiled slightly at Kyran when he said that it was relaxing to lay there and then sighed softly when he asked about Aamori. "...Well...she's been given a very difficult task to master, one that she hasn't even bothered to attempt yet...she has a lot of pressure on her to learn it." she said softly, "...It's going to be extremely hard for her to do...and I don't think she'd too confident in her own ability to do it..." She sighed and shook her head, "...Celestine was standing there waiting for me to leave so I snuck off and let him in there... Those two usually get along fairly well, but they also seem to know how to push each other's buttons. Maybe he can push a few int eh right direction." Aamori seemed like she could definitely 'I'll show you' type when it came to someone disagreeing with her, so she was hoping they could use Celestine to their advantage. |
Aamori heaved a sigh and stared down at her hands while they rested in her lap. "The chances are greater that I will fail, miserably... rather than succeed." She muttered. "I'm being forced to learn and master the ability to summon a creature in the span of two days. This particular ability has only ever been mastered in that short a period of time by one of our clan's Elders." She paused. "That Elder is our current, and the one who gave me the time limit." She said sounding quite unenthusiastic. All around she really had little belief in herself that she could accomplish this and so far she was managing to talk herself right down to not even wanting to give it a try. The more she thought about it the more annoyed she was getting with the whole idea. She wasn't full of replenishing energy so how in the world did the Elder expect her to do this anyway? She could try it maybe once a day and be out of energy before she knew it. Which of course made her think that it'd have to be a perfect execution on the first try. Again that sounded near impossible. Then what happened if she did manage to get the stupid creature summoned and she was out of energy or didn't have enough to control it... what then? Those things could easily turn on the person who summoned it, especially if it was in a bad mood. That was probably a good reason why she never toyed around with the ability. The last thing she wanted to do was screw it up, let alone when no one else was around who could help her out. "The ability of summoning by no means is an easy feat." She paused. "I'm not pouting, but merely weighing the facts and so far they all point more so to me not being able to accomplish this within the given time restrictions. Which of course has lead to me whether or not I should even waste my energy trying to do something that could wind up in bodily harm to myself or the people around me." Leave it to her to actually try and think things through when they really didn't matter all that much. Honestly the worst that could come of a failure in trying to master this was someone getting hurt a little and more than likely it would be her before it would be anyone else. She'd probably never admit to it, but she wasn't comfortable with learning the summoning ability. She'd already frozen once during a fight where she could easily have been killed. She just wasn't ready to learn this ability and have to control something other than herself. She was already freezing when it was important, who was to say that the summoned creature wouldn't haul off and attack her for not ordering it around or worse, letting it get destroyed because she couldn't get her act together. She was really just uncomfortable with learning either of the last two abilities, had they been like the first two she'd have no problem.
Kyran looked at Hikari while she answered his question and gave a small sigh hearing that Celestine was there. He hadn't really seen him at all today, maybe that was why he was a little surprised to hear that. "Those two get along just about as much as they fight too, you know." He said with a small laugh. "If he doesn't push her buttons like you're hoping she may just not even bother trying. So maybe it was a dangerous move to leave those two alone when she's got so much pressure riding on her." He paused. "I just hope that Aamori doesn't ultimately crack under all the pressure. I mean.. I couldn't begin to imagine what it must feel like to have to try and live up to the Elders expectations like that and how is she going to feel should she fail. That isn't exactly a failure for just her, but for her Elder too." He uttered. "The possibility of letting down someone of importance like that, must weigh heavily on one's mind." |
Celestine sighed again and shook his head, "So you don't mind endangering someone's health over something stupid, but when it matters you're going to back out? Okay, so it's not easy. Obviously it's still doable if it's been done before." His tail flicked slightly and he crossed his arms, "...You're not going to be able to do it this way. If you don't even try, there's no way you can do it. What was that you told me again, 'Just because there isn't anyone to show you how to control the ability doesn't mean you can't work on that yourself.' If you don't even make an attempt...I don't ever want to hear you complain another word about my inability to control my skills when I come to see you." he said as he looked away. He was rather 'absently' hinting at what Nobu had said, that he could come to see her if she wanted and if he wanted. He would if it could be arranged. "I don't want anyone else going on this stupid trip, I've had enough trouble getting used to your clumsy ass." he said as he looked back to her again, "...So don't you dare sit there and talk yourself down on this! Get up and do something productive!" His tone and words were harsh, but his meaning should have been made clear enough. He liked her enough to want her around, he just never was very gentle with his words unless he felt the need to be entirely over sensitive, only then did he try to choose his words carefully. He sighed and looked over to Aamori again and uncrossed his arms and leaned closer to her, wrapping his arms around her. "I mean it..."
Hikari smiled weakly at Kyran's crack about Celestine making her not even want to try. She then sighed and shook her head, "...It is a lot of pressure... But I still think that she can do it. A lot of people seem to think that she can... she's the one doubting herself, and if anything that is what will break her. I really think that if we can just build her confidence up that she will be fine..." She half smiled again, "...As for Celestine...I know it was risky, but the kid is sensitive in his own...special way. I think...they can understand each other for once. It's not hard to see that Aamori is upset...so I'm pretty sure that he'll go easy on her." she said hopefully. |
Aamori had stared down at her hands for a good chunk of what Celestine was saying. Though when he used her own words against her, she looked up at him with a mildly annoyed look on her face. She never was really fond of someone using what she said against her, as she was sure most people weren't. The first thing that popped into her head to say in response was 'Get your words'. Of course she'd kept her mouth shut and lowered her eyes again while he continued. When he said he didn't want to hear her complain about his inability she shook her head lightly. For one, she didn't complain about it very often if even at all, hell she even willingly had gone to sleep next to him that one night. For two, she doubted he'd come anywhere near Kairava after everything was said and done. After all, he didn't even want to stay in the building after just one night. Ordinarily she might have been saying all of this out loud, but for the sake of avoiding an argument she kept her mouth shut. She knew she was pretty safe at least in her own thoughts, after all it wasn't easy for him to hear her thoughts, well, unless he had improved since the last time he did it. She continued to be quiet until he was done speaking. She was a bit surprised when Celestine leaned forward and wrapped his arms around her. She couldn't help but smile a little, though she made sure it was short lived. She was a bit surprised to have gotten a pep talk, if you could call it that, from him of all people. Though in some things he said he surely made it sound more like he was unwilling to have to get to know some other person, rather than he wanted her around. She sighed softly and started to open her mouth. "...I appreciate the rare physical sentiment that I may not experience again ...but how am I supposed to 'Get up and do something productive' like this?" She asked quietly. She still didn't have a lot of faith in her own abilities but she was starting to think no one would leave her alone unless she'd at least given it a little effort. She had gathered time-line wise that she'd have to have the creature summoned by sometime tomorrow and have it mastered fully by the next day. So if she at least tried, and couldn't manage to summon the thing before tomorrow was over then she could just stop trying. Well, that is if no one pestered her into continuing until the time was up. But for now, just to get some peace she'd decided she'd go ahead and try but for that she'd need to get her book first. That was going to be a little difficult so long as Celestine still had a hold of her.
Kyran nodded slightly. "Even if he doesn't go easy on her we won't know until we leave the room." He paused. "These walls are pretty sound proof." He of course expected, should those two's conversation go sour for either of them to raise their voice. Though it wouldn't be able to be heard from in the room. "I too, think that she can do it." He started. "She can only doubt herself so much before common sense kicks in and she gets the bigger picture. She'll have to learn that ability regardless of the time limit she was given. Now would be the perfect crash course even if she can't master it." He paused. "It's a good stepping stone. Though, I do think her drive will kick in. I mean, she was pretty persistent with getting to know Celestine. All she needs to do is redirect that to learning this ability." He sighed softly. "I'm sure you thought of that already though." He had a habit of repeating some things other people said, or thought and that was mostly because he had a tenancy to think out loud sometimes. |
Celestine kept his arms around her for a moment, trying to cheer her up a little. He nuzzled his head against hers lightly until she made the little 'how am I supposed to do this' comment, then he pulled back enough that he could stare her in the face with that narrow eyed, annoyed expression for a moment before he pulled his arms back and pushed her away from him lightly. "Fine, get moving." he said as he stood up and dusted himself off. Just as he stood up his stomach growled lightly. He had been getting a little used to eating a little at least once a day, since Hikari and Nanashi had been riding his ass about not eating, and he hadn't had anything to eat since breakfast yesterday, and he hadn't eaten a whole lot then. He'd only been eating enough to get everyone to leave him alone. He was actually kind of surprised that he decided he was hungry on his own this soon after eating. Normally he'd go for days and not feel the urge to eat until his stomach was literally trying to eat itself.
Hikari smiled weakly, "...Yep..." she said with a soft laugh when he said that she'd already probably thought of that. "...She just got the news an it's a pretty big task...I guess it's natural to be overwhelmed at first. I told her to just start with the basics...which would be memorizing the spell." She sat there for a moment, glancing at the door again. "Hmm...think we should check and make sure everything is still standing?" she asked with a soft chuckle. |
Aamori received just about the exact response from him that she thought she'd get. She gave a sigh and looked up at him as he stood up. "Fine? You're the one who told me to be productive... then you had to go and be all out of character like that." She said quietly and then looked at his stomach when it growled. She couldn't resist smiling lightly while giving a shake of her head as she started to get up herself. "I'm glad it's not my stomach this time." She commented before turning back towards the entrance. "Hold on a moment." She told him before she started walking towards the entrance, turning slightly so that she could go into the kitchen. She was inside for a few minutes, long enough for the cooks inside to make a rush job of fixing a plate for her. She came back out carrying a plate and a glass. She walked straight over to him and held the plate full of miscellaneous sliced fruit out to him first, followed by the glass of water. "We don't have fruit like what you're used to, but there's sliced pineapple, mango, papaya and dragonfruit." She told him and pointed to the corresponding fruit as she named it. She stood there for a short moment longer before heading to the other end of the courtyard to go into her room. She reached her door and left it open after she went inside. She wasted very little time getting over to the book shelf in her room and removing the required book and exiting her room. She gave a sigh as she reentered the courtyard and went to sit down on the stone floor in the center of the courtyard. She still wasn't too enthusiastic about trying to master the ability, but the faster she tried the sooner she'd know whether or not to continue trying. She gave another sigh and started to open the old book. It was all too clear that she hadn't looked in the book in some time because she had to blow some dust from the pages that she had to read.
Kyran shook his head lightly when she asked if they should check to see if everything was still standing. "Not unless you want to be drawn into the mess if there is one." He paused. "The last thing either of us needs to do is get involved and be told to stop acting like either of their parents..." He said with a sigh. That was probably going to stick with him for a little while, mostly because any time he got into a fight with his sister it always resorted in her yelling at him and saying that he wasn't her father. That was probably typical in situations like his though, or at least he thought. |
Celestine grumbled and lowered his eyes, blushing when she commented on his stomach. "Well I haven't eaten since yesterday..." he muttered quietly. He looked up when she told him to wait there and then sighed, crossing his arms and she shifted his weight to one leg and tapped his foot lightly. He waited patiently until she'd come back when then blinked when she offered him the plate and then reached out to take it and the glass. He stared at the odd fruits and then raised the plate a little and sniffed of them. He had no idea what she was trying to feed him here but he nodded. "Um...thanks." he said a little unsurely, obviously unfamiliar with everything on the plate. He watched as she headed for her room and then sat down where she'd left him and took a few sips of the water before he reached down and plucked off a piece of pineapple. He stared at it for a moment before he took a little nibble and then shook his head. He wasn't expecting that tangy taste, and he wasn't sure he liked it, but he ate that piece anyway while he thought it over. It was pretty good...once you got used to it, then again he was hungry so anything may taste good. He tried another piece of pineapple and then looked up to Aamori as she came back with her book. He blinked when she blew the dust off of it, and covered his food slightly. "...And how long has it been since you've even pretended to be studying these skills? Geez, I thought you said someone was on you all the time about learning this stuff." He commented as he picked up yet another piece of pineapple, apparently intending to eat all of that before moving to a new fruit.
Hikari smiled slightly and chuckled as she shook her head. "Is that still bothering you?" she asked softly as she leaned over him for a moment, lightly kissing his nose. "...I just thought we should keep them from potentially strangling one another." she said with a soft laugh. "...But they should be fine." |
Aamori coughed lightly after blowing the dust away, having accidentally tilted the book so that some of the dust came back up at her. She lifted her hand to her nose briefly to rub it and then glanced over to Celestine after he spoke. She rested the book in her lap and curled her fingers around the top halves of the book. "...I haven't had to use this particular book in ages." She told him. "It's not like everything I will ever have to learn is compiled into one single book." She said and stuck her tongue out at him briefly. "This one, rather large book is only used for the four Elder level abilities I have to master. It's filled with pretty much everything you need to know about the abilities, the origin of the ability, the spell itself, how to control it, and how to disperse the spell properly without killing yourself and or draining you completely of all energy in your body." She paused. "These spells are dangerous enough to sever the energy network in ones body. Screwing up one of these spells can result in the inability to use any form of magic ever again..." She said followed by a heavy sigh. "Anyway... there are other books that don't have any dust in them, just so you know. My room is practically a mini library..." She uncurled her fingers from the book and started to flip through a couple of the pages, moving straight to the pages containing the actual spell itself. She'd looked through the book several times when she first got it, so she already knew the dangers of each spell and the origins of course. She'd just over looked the actual spells because she wasn't supposed to even try them until she'd mastered the prerequisite abilities. She gave another heavier sigh when she found the spell and looked it over. Of course it was lengthy, they all were but this one so far had to be the longest. Thankfully memorizing it wasn't going to be too hard of a task because each one of these spells had a base to it that was the same in all of them, so she knew the base she just needed to memorize what was different. She started reading over the spell, breaking it down into pieces and rereading until she thought she knew it well enough then moving onto the next part.
Kyran nodded slightly when she asked if it was still bothering him. "I blame Minako. We've had too many fights in the past that ended in her screaming at me 'You're not Dad' or 'You're not my father' then she'd run off to Taro's to get away from me. It's kind of silly I guess." He said and shrugged lightly. He smiled when she kissed his nose and then gave a small laugh. "Should they end up hurting one another in any way, you know they'll just kiss and make up like the last time." At least he thought that anyway. He didn't think either of them could purposely hurt the other and not feel bad about it. Well, Aamori maybe... if she held a grudge long enough. |
Celestine rolled his eyes slightly when she stuck her tongue out at him and then shook his head as he continued to eat on the fruit. He blinked when she said that it could cause her to be incapable of using magic again and then sighed, "Better not mess up then." he said simply as he let her find what she was looking for. He lowered his eyes back to the plate and sighed when he saw he was out of pineapple, so he moved over to the mango and tried that. Again he shuddered slightly when he caught the tangy taste and then continued eating. He liked the pineapple better, but this was pretty good, too. Celestine could probably eat just about any fruit or vegetable without much complaint, each new one just took a little getting used to. He watched in silence as Aamori read the book and didn't say another word so that he wouldn't distract her, he just went on about picking at the fruit while he watched her, soon looking down to find that he'd already finished. Nanashi's little method of getting him distracted so he wasn't paying attention to how much he was eating seemed to be sticking. He exhaled heavily through his nose and then raised his glass to drink a little more of the water.
Hikari smiled and laughed again, "Yes, I'm sure they would." she agreed. She put her hand to his forehead and then gently pushed his hair back, "...And don't worry...I get the 'you're not my mommy' treatment from Sri all the time." she said with a soft laugh, "I'm pretty sure that's just their way of saying 'don't tell me what to do, you stupid older sibling!'" She said in a nasally voice as she scrunched up her face and then laughed again. She finally shifted positions and stretched out on the bed beside him. "Whoo...it's been some day..." First getting to deal with Yoichi, then sneaking into the library, then getting caught, then Nanashi's little flaming sneeze attack, then finally getting Aamori' sentence...she was about ready for bed by now without even checking for dinner. |
Aamori didn't look up from the book even when Celestine said that she better not mess up. She'd studied books so much that she could still read, take in what she was reading and have a conversation or well, listen to one and add her two cents here and there. "I didn't plan on it." She responded while her eyes continued to scan from one side of the book to the other rather quickly. If she did mess up the spell in any way it would probably be from leaving out a part of the spell or having a lack of concentration. The further she got in reciting the spell, the more danger there was if she messed something up or was interrupted. She continued working her way through the spell, passing over the first page in very little time. Moving onto the second and finally the third page. There really were quite a few words to memorize. The first page was mostly the base and then the ending on the final page of the spell. The only part she'd have to remember in order was the stuff in the middle from the bottom of the first page to the end of the third. Within a few more minutes she'd finished reading the last parts and gave a heavy sigh as she set her hands down in the book while she gave her eyes a rest. Reciting the spell wasn't exactly the hard part, memorizing it and knowing what to say was actually pretty easy but there was a certain pace in which each spell had to be spoken and unfortunately the pace was different for each spell. Then to top all of that off the pace was never listed in the book, so it was a matter of guessing for the caster. Of course the Elders couldn't make it easy and just tell her either. She'd always been told that she'd figure it out by reading the spell out loud but of course it wasn't exactly safe to do that either because you could accidentally cast the spell without being prepared. She'd learned that the hard way with the first spell and nearly drowned herself. She glanced back down at the book briefly before moving her hands and shutting it. She was pretty sure she had it all down, she just wanted to go over it from start to finish a couple times more in her head before actually attempting it. The part she disliked the most was next, trial an error with the pace of the spell. She started to get to her feet, taking the book to set it down on the edge of the fountain. She stood there for a moment and shook her head very lightly. Yoichi would surely be pissed if he knew she was going to start working on this spell tonight. She was usually made to work on it when someone from the medical office could keep a close eye on her in case something backfired. In this case, the medical office was pretty empty other than a trainee nurse. When she got the jar for Nanashi, the actual doctor inside was preparing to head home for the night. Of course she knew better than to be working on this spell tonight, but both Hikari and Celestine had told her to do something.
Kyran laughed quietly when she spoke and scrunched up her face. He did know that his sister only said things like that because she didn't like being corrected by her older brother. Nonetheless it still bothered him to some extent every time that was said, or something remotely similar. He turned his head slightly to look over at her after she stretched out on the bed beside him. He smiled slightly and then stared back up at the ceiling. "The highlights of mine were being quizzed by a concerned mother and Nanashi's spicy little sneeze." His day for the most part felt a little uneventful. Though, that could be blamed on being left alone with Aamori's parents while the girls snuck out. There could only be so much fun and interest in repeating everything that's gone on since they started. He hadn't even gotten to finish telling Emiko everything before Yoichi showed up looking for his sister. Now that he had thought about it a little more, he was kind of relieved that not too much had gone on today for him. He was sure there would be more tiring days ahead. |
Celestine shook his head slightly and then stood up when she walked over to the fountain, taking his plate and glass with him. He watched her put the book down and then sat down the plate and glass before he perched on the edge of the fountain himself. He watched her silently again and tilted his head. "...What are you doing?" He asked in a somewhat lazy tone as he braced himself on the edge of the fountain. "You don't have that memorized already?" he said, raising an eyebrow. He didn't really expect Aamori to start actually practicing the spell tonight, he just didn't want her sitting there until she berated herself so much that she made it so that she wasn't going to be able to do it at all.
Hikari chuckled softly, "...I think we already know the highlights of mine." she said simply. She nuzzled against his side lightly and then closed her eyes for a moment. "...Wonder if Nanashi is feeling any better... I hope that doesn't happen every time he sneezes." Of course she would be the one to worry about that. "...I guess when I get home I'm going to have one more thing to look up." If that happened a lot she at least wanted to see if she could find a spell to heal injuries caused by burns. |
Aamori glanced over to Celestine when he asked what she was doing. She stared at him for a moment when he said 'you don't have that memorized already' and sighed softly. "I've got the majority of it memorized." She said and then started back towards the center of the courtyard. She had most of the spell memorized at the moment, given too much more time and conversation she could probably easily forget a couple things. For her it wasn't hard to briefly memorize something that you read repeatedly. Now actually remembering it for good without a chance of forgetting, that would've taken a bit more time. She was a little impatient though when it came to learning something from a book. "And to answer your question, I had thought I would try and figure out the pace of this spell since a book can't tell me that." She stretched a little and gave a sigh. She was at least being 'productive' she felt like more of a slacker just staring at a book and that was bound to happen the longer she was reading the book. She'd just give in and stare at it rather than actually read. She shifted slightly and took a deep breath before cupping her hands slightly, placing one just above the other and then turning the bottom hand so that her palms were facing one another. She shut her eyes for a moment and then started reciting the spell in her native tongue. As she did so an ancient diagram started to appear on the floor below her feet. It was of course glowing blue and giving off a strong pressure around her as she continued with the part of the spell she knew as the base. She was safe at least until she came upon the part of the spell that she was sure of with the pace. She kept her eyes shut and continued onto the part she didn't know very well. Even if what she was saying couldn't be understood, it'd be noticeable that her pace slowed considerably when she reached this part of the spell. As she was reciting a small ball of water no larger than a baseball, had started to appear in her hands, though as soon as her pace didn't pick back up the ball shot out of her hands quickly and darted around her. It was moving so quickly that the orb seemed like it stretched out into a thin line and eventually it made contact with her arm and then dispersed into droplets. When it connected with her skin she jumped and broke her hand sign, not to mention she'd stopped speaking which lead to the diagram below her feet disappearing. She bit her lip when she opened her eyes again and looked down at her arm noticing a small set of pierce marks in her forearm. They didn't look that bad but they sure as hell stung a bit.
Kyran gave a soft sigh when he heard that she wondered if Nanashi was feeling better. He couldn't say and the only person who probably could right now was either LaRae or Nanashi, himself. "I'm sure he's fine. Both you and Aamori wasted very little time in helping him." He paused. "And if he's still hurting at all I'm sure LaRae will get someone to help." He said and glanced over to her. He removed an arm from behind his head and reached over to wrap it around her. "...Since everyone else has someone looking after them, we can just relax." He said quietly. He really planned to take advantage of the time he had to relax, especially in a nice room with a comfortable bed he could share with Hikari. |
Celestine sighed softly when she said that she had the majority of it memorized. Shouldn't she have the whole thing memorized before she tried that? He shook his head and looked down for a moment before his eyes trailed back to her while she was chanting. He stared at the rind around her feet for a few moments before the ball of water flying around caught his attention and he blinked as it formed into more of a string before the whole thing went ka-boom. He watched Aamori's reaction and sighed as he stood up. It was pretty apparently that she'd messed up. He walked over to her, "I assume that wasn't supposed to happen." he said as he reached out to take her arm, having a look for himself. He lightly placed his hand over the marks for a moment and then pulled it again and backed up. "...Well, try again." He said as he crossed his arms. He wasn't going to waste his energy healing those little marks. He knew she was probably throwing a mental fit about them, but as far as he was concerned it wouldn't kill her to build up some good ol' fashioned pain tolerance.
Hikari smiled weakly and then let out a sift laugh as she cuddled against him before she sighed again, "Yes, I guess so." she agreed as she closed her eyes, "All I do is worry, I'm worse than a mother hen." At least she saw it and admitted to it. She did worry a lot, just because she cared. She didn't want any of her friends to be in pain or uncomfortable, so she was always hovering and fussing if she thought something was wrong. All one really needed to do was tell her to bug off...unless it was something really serious, then she wasn't quite so easy to get rid of. She opened her eyes again to look back up to Kyran again, finally raising one arm to drape around his middle, gently rubbing his chest with her hand, "...Speaking of......are you ever going to let me get rid of those?" she asked softly, placing her hand over the area where the scar was on his chest. |
Aamori glanced up when Celestine walked over. She gave a small sigh and nodded slightly. She looked back down at the marks on her arm once he let go. They quite obviously looked like a couple of bite marks. She had managed a small portion of the materialization before she screwed up the spell, hence the bite marks in her arm. They hurt, even burned and stung a bit. Ordinarily she might have wanted to give up and go to her room to cry a bit from the pain but she refrained and tried to ignore it hurting just because Celestine was there. She looked back to him briefly when he said try again and gave another nod. That much was obvious, she did have to try again. It was trial an error after all. She positioned her hands again, the same way they were before and then shut her eyes too, wasting very little time getting right back into the chant. Starting from the beginning once again. Just like before the ring appeared below her feet and the pressure around her returned as she continued with the chant. The small ball of water started to appear once again as she neared the part of the chant she'd messed up on before. Her pace didn't differ too much when she changed over to the newer part of the spell, attempting to keep the pace the same this time. She managed to get farther this time, though clearly she was having some trouble again and you could tell because the orb of water started thrashing about becoming less and less controlled. Just as she was starting to open her eyes she fumbled with the words and the spell was again cut short. The orb shot out from her hands again and darted around just like before, only it was a little larger and much faster. She started to drop her hands back to her sides as she opened her eyes fully and the ring below her feet faded again. She was trying at least to follow the darting water with her eyes but she was having trouble with that. It started getting closer to her and suddenly shot at her nicking her rather hard across the top of her left shoulder before it vanished again just like before. As soon as it hit her shoulder she immediately lifted her other hand to clasp down on top of where it hit while she bit down on her lip again. She was gathering that the creature wasn't pleased with her inability to summon it completely. She turned her head a little and started to lift her hand to look at her shoulder, noticing now that her dress had been sliced through a little and again there were two pierce marks only now these ones were reddened and bleeding a little. She pressed her hand back down on her shoulder and finally released her lip while giving a heavier sigh.
Kyran glanced at Hikari when she asked if he was ever going to let her get rid of his scars. Well, at least she hadn't been asking about those a lot. He did only have the two, one on his chest and one on his back. Taro had gotten rid of majority of the burned marks but he had left two small scars because they were impossible for his magic to rid him of. He really didn't mind them and of course he would rather not have them but he just couldn't bring himself to have Hikari waste any of her energy to take them away. He gave a soft sigh and shook his head. "No, I don't think I ever will." He answered quietly. "Don't worry about them, they're not doing me any harm." He paused. "And what happened to relaxing? You don't have to go digging up something to be concerned about." |
Celestine watched her again from where he was, though when she messed up again he jumped back slightly to avoid the little ball of water. He noticed the difference in the size of this one compared to the gasp one, so he cringed a little when it got Aamori's shoulder. He sighed softly and moved closer to her again, looking at the marks on her shoulder when she moved her hand. He shook his head and then raised his hand to place on top of hers for a moment, "Why don't you try looking over the spell again?" he suggested. He did seem a little bothered by the marks, but apparently those were just going to happen. He just hoped that they didn't get much worse than this. If it got worse than that he would probably have to give in and heal it, just because he knew how much just the little marks bothered her. "...It sounded like you messed up a word or something." He pointed out. Of course he wouldn't know but by the way she stumbled that was all he could assume.
Hikari sighed softly and looked at him for a moment before she shook her head slightly. "I know they're not doing any harm... I just know they're there... and at least one of them is going to bug me..." she said with a sigh, "...I would at least like to be rid of the one on your back." Or course she would be bothered by the one that he had from shielding her. She wanted to get rid of that one the most, but if she got started she may as well get them both. She stuck her tongue out at him when he said she didn't need to drag up something to worry about. That's what she did. |
Aamori rested her eyes on Celestine briefly before moving them back to her hand for a moment. "...I said a word in the wrong tense, that's all." She had at least realized that, only she'd already said the word when she noticed what she messed up on. She could probably benefit from looking the spell over a little more. She just didn't want to have to do that. She would've preferred not having to return to that book and having done the spell right the first time. But then things would've been easy and of course they couldn't be. She shifted her eyes over towards the fountain and stared at the book for a moment with a rather spiteful glare in her eyes. She would love to dangle that book in front of Nanashi after making him sneeze, maybe he'd burn it. She gave a sigh and started to lift her hand up from her shoulder, in the process she happened to glance down at her hand noticing that she'd pressed so hard on her shoulder that the blood from the bite marks had gotten on her hand. She didn't have to stare at her hand very long before she seemed a little panicky. Then before she knew it she'd dropped herself onto the stone ground and started vigorously rubbing her palm against the stone to try and get the blood off.
Kyran merely smiled a little and shook his head lightly when she stuck her tongue out at him. "...I'm starting to think you don't know how to relax." He said quietly seeing as she really had nothing to worry about and had to bring up his scars. "You can stop worrying about them. They're not that big and you don't see them." After all he had even forgotten about them for the most part. The last time he was reminded of them was when he had to take his shirt off to let it dry after flying in that rain and even then it didn't really bother him. He gave her a light squeeze and looked at her again. "Just forget about them, I'm not going to let you do anything about them." |
Celestine sighed softly and crossed his arms and shook his head slgihtly. "...Be careful..." he said quietly, watching as she glared at the book. "It's not the book's fault." He said with a half smile, almost able to read her mind through her expression. He blinked when he caught her panicked expression after she looked at her hand and then stepped back and stared at her when she started scrubbing her hand against the stone. He stared at her, completely dumbfounded for a moment before he knelt down and grabbed her wrist, pulling her hand away from the stone. "What are you trying to do, grade all of the skin of your hand!?" He said as he stared her in the eyes. "What's gotten into you?" He asked sharply, "There is a fountain right behind you, use that. Geez..." he muttered, shaking his head. "It's just a little blood..."
Hikari sighed again and rolled over slgihtly so that she was almost laying on him again, "Any why not?" she demanded when he said that she couldn't do anything to them. She looked a little pouty and then huffed, "It's not going to hurt you..." she muttered, resting her chin on his chest. |
Aamori hadn't even been aware of where she was rubbing her hand. Her first and only reaction was to get the blood off her hand and as fast as possible, which didn't exactly leave room for rational thought. When she needed to get the blood off she pretty much went into a trance until the blood was gone, or until she regained enough sense to check to see if the blood was gone. She startled when she felt Celestine grab her wrist and pull her hand away from the stone. She didn't say anything to him, only stared right back at him while her expression went from panicked and almost hallow to slightly confused. She'd come to her senses and started to glance down at her hand. It didn't take long for her to gather what she'd done since the last thing he said was 'It's just a little blood'. She jerked her hand back and clutched it shut while pulling it close to her. She'd pretty much rubbed it raw again and she didn't even mean to. "...I c-can't help it..." She uttered quietly. She sat there quietly for a moment, recalling the last time she did this to her hands. Kanone had been the one to find her hands in this state and she never did get around to talking to Celestine about what made her do that to her hands either. She wasn't so sure she wanted to, actually. She also hated the idea of admitting that she was developing a phobia to blood just because of what happened in Radha.
Kyran looked at her when she rolled over and demanded to know why not. "Because I'm not going to let you waste energy on something cosmetic like that." He answered. "And don't try that pouty look, I'm immune thanks to Minako." He said with a slight laugh. That wasn't even really true. Minako always got what she wanted when she gave that pouty look but he could at least lead Hikari to believe it wouldn't work on him. After all, he honestly didn't want her to waste energy to remove a couple of his scars regardless of the amount of energy it would take. |
Celestine just stared at Aamori and then shook his head. "...What is wrong with you?" he asked softly. He sighed and looked at her hand as she held it to her and finally reached out to take it again, though he was careful not to touch her palm. For once he actually looked a little worried, mainly just because she'd completely freaked out over nothing. He raised his other hand and placed it on her right shoulder before he motioned toward the fountain with his head and started in that direction, gently pulling on her hand as he went. "Take five." He said simply as he tried to guide her over to where they could sit down and she could stick her hand under the fountain or something.
Hikari sighed and rolled her eyes slightly when he gave his reason. "Why not? It's more for my mental benefit than yours anyway." she said simply, still not giving up on that little pouty expression. "It doesn't take much energy and it's not like I'm doing anything else anyway... I just don't like having reminders. It wasn't pleasant seeing you that hurt... So I'm never going to be able to look at you without a shirt without thinking about that, not that you run around topless often, but still." she said with another huff. "You could fall in a lake or something." |
Aamori didn't really want to move from where she was sitting, nor did she want him to take her hand but she didn't bother putting up much resistance. When he motioned towards the fountain she gave a soft sigh and got to her feet, again not resisting as he pulled on her hand. When she got close to the fountain she slipped her hand away from him and then knelt down in front of the fountain, dipping her hand into the pool of water that formed in the base. She started to jerk her hand back from the water when she felt how cold it was against her raw skin but she reluctantly stuck it right back into the water. Of course the cold was going to hurt a little at first, it'd eventually sooth it a little. She gave a sigh and leaned her other arm against the edge of the fountain, then laid her head down on her arm gently. "...I guess it could qualify as something being wrong with me..." She muttered quietly as she looked down at her hand in the water. She hated to admit to the phobia but she didn't really see any other way to explain what was wrong. She didn't want to admit to it mostly because that just meant there was something else that she had going against her. Not to mention she could only imagine the type of response she'd get by saying she was afraid of blood. She shut her eyes for a moment while she pulled her hand from the water for a few minutes. "...I only recently started developing a phobia of blood." She uttered quietly, deciding to just get it over with. "...But it's only when I come into direct contact with it." She paused. "...This whole, rubbing my hand raw thing has happened before." She said with a sigh. "Back when you were extra friendly with the porch steps and cut your chin, when I cleaned that for you I got blood on me. Wound up scrubbing my hands completely raw in the kitchen without even realizing it." She opened her eyes and glanced at her hand again before dunking it back in the water. "...And I know ...it sounds pathetic ...to be afraid of something that can't even hurt you." She uttered lastly.
Kyran couldn't help but laugh softly after listening to her about falling in a lake or something. "I guess I'll be stuck keeping my shirt on or avoiding you when I'm not wearing it so that you don't have that visual reminder." He said as he shut his eyes so he wasn't being subjected to her pouty face. "I'm still not going to allow you to take those scars away. It's a complete waste of energy even if you're not doing anything else." He told her. He cracked one eye open and looked at her giving a faint smile. "...If it really bothers you that much I suppose you could try to take them away by force, but I warn you I won't sit idly by and let that happen." He of course was just joking around, though he wasn't sure she wouldn't actually attempt that. |
Celestine stared at her when she said that she had a phobia of blood, and was just about to ask what the hell kind of phobia that was, but he kept quiet. He sighed heavily when she said that she'd done this after she cleaned his chin off and then raised his hands to rest on her arm lightly. "...How recently?" he asked softly, obviously trying to figure out what set it off, "When did this start?" He was trying not to judge. Personally he hated having blood on him as well, but he just washed it off and went on about his way. He raised his other hand to her cheek again put a little pressure on her face so that she would look at him. For once he didn't look annoyed with her. He was actually, genuinely trying to be supportive, no matter how dumb he thought it was. He probably would have laughed at this had she not been hurting herself int he process of trying to get the blood off.
Hikari smirked at him and crossed her arms on top of his chest again. "Don't tempt me... You have to sleep sometime." she said as she made another face at him. She sighed heavily and nuzzled against him again, "Why are you so darn stubborn?" Of course he was probably just about as stubborn as she was. |
