Lee followed Ellery's with his gaze till she turned the corner of the alley way and he was unable to stare any longer. Then he took a sniff of the air and smelt the sweet salt of her tears in the wind. He sighed and pinched the crease between his eyes and thought.

Then hearing what was going on he looked up to see one of the towns people look at Ellery then at Lee and frowned. Lee found it funny that this guy might have liked Ellery but it didn't matter. The man about 20 and continued to gaze at Lee and begain walking over to the alley.

"What did you do to Ellery?!" He looked angry and looked to fight but Lee didn't want to fight. He was to hungry and as much as he tried to sway from what he knew best he always went to the old ways. So he smiled that crooked smile and looked to the man. Lee started to turn around and head deeper into the alley all the while smiling big.

"I have done nothing but introduce myself. . . " Lee giggled to himself at how easy this was. The man slowly started to walk with him deeper into the alley. At first the mans steps were timid. . . scared but the anger replaced the body's want to run and Lee had to chuckle at the mans slowness of the obvious danger.

"You lie!..." The man yelled at Lee "Ellery wouldn't cry over someone she doesn't even know!" He was about to start a run at Lee with his thirst for vengence in the air when Lee stop as they got exactly where he wanted them.

"Oh she knows me. . . " Lee said with confidence and smiled at the man. "If only her body knows me. And soon enough she will know me completely. For who and WHAT I am." Lee looked proudly at this declaration and started to move to get closer to the man.

"Not if I cant help it" The man yelled and put his fist in the air and slowly began to swing. Completely ignoring the part of Lees speech about what he was he smiled and dogged the swing. Then stood straight again.

"Oh but you never will be able to stop me" He said with the evilest smile his face could give and lunged at the man. Lee put his hands over the mans mouth at his attempt to scream and begin to feed.

'until nightfall my lovely song.' Was his last thought as he "dug" in.

It didn't seem like long when the police found Daniel's body, and news seemed to spread fast enough; Ellery was the first person called.
As if her original despair didn't seem quite enough, her best friend, dead, and no longer.
They'd grown up together, though they were only about three years apart.

Ellery sat in her bed, her face was wet with new tears.
She lay on her stomach, with her face fallen upon her arms.

Why did these kinds of things always happen to her?
She always seemed to attract danger, no matter what she did, or where she lived, things always went wrong in her life.

She stared blankly at the floor, as she blanked her mind out from every direction.
She didn't want to think, it hurt too much.

After a bit, she rolled over onto her back, and stared up at the white speckled ceiling. There wasn't really much thought as she did so, but she did however know how much he heart hurt.

Lee was annoyed with himself by nightfall. He had tried to hide the body the best he could with only being able to move around an alley way but allas it didn't take long for people to notice the boy was missing. Eventually they found the body while Lee hid in the garbage. That in turn made him take a quick trip to a cloths store.

But it wasn't until he followed his nose to the wounderious scent of Ellery that he found out what he had done. Unknown to him at the time the man he had killed was one of Ellery's close ones. He would have to look into who she considered friend and fow before he eat again in this town. Even if he was trying to change it wouldn't hurt that if he was stuck like today again he would have someone to feed on.

He was at Ellery's window looking at her through closed curtains. She seemed to be upset and that was understandable. Lee didn't know what he would say to her to make her feel even a little bit better so he just stared unnoticed by Ellery.

He had plenty of time to think while watching her through her window and just became more and more angry with himself.

'HOW DOES EDWARD DO THIS!?' he thought to himself in anger and grunted loudly by mistake.

No matter how much Ellery didn't think, everything seemed to force its way back in.

When she heard Lee's commotion outside, Ellery forced her body upwards, and stared at the window in horror.
Now, there were people watching her!? What was happening to her!?

Grabbing her cellphone out her her pocket, she dialed 911 and left it on her call screen. If whoever was out there decided to pull something, all Ellery had to do, was press the little green button, and it would be over.

Suddenly, Ellery yanked the sheer-like curtains from the window, and dropped her phone in shock.
It was Lee.

"What, what!? What the hell are you doing here," she screamed. "How-"

Opening the window quickly, she gaped at him.
"How-wha? How id you find out where I live!?"

Lee looked at Ellery in surprise then thought for a moment. He could tell her the truth but at the same time he knew he could be killed if he told her. He looked at her again and noticed the tear stains still on her face and frowned at himself.

Lee ignored Ellery's question on how he knew where she live and pulled his fingers through his hair.

"How are you. . . I know you were crying. . ." He didn't know what he could say to make her feel better so he just stood there with a concerned face.

"I'm really sorry Ellery. . ." He held his breath waiting for a response to Ellery's reaction to his apology not expecting anything he wouldn't deserve.

"You know," she whispered. "They found him in the alley where we were..."
Her voice was shaking, just as well as her hands.
"Did you kill him," she asked.

Tears spilled over now, sliding down her face as she wiped at them.
She had had that feeling all day when she found out, that maybe, that possibly Lee had done something, that he had killed Daniel.
She didn't want to believe it, but she could feel deep down, that it was true...
Judging by the silence, it was.

Lee didn't know what to say so he just decided he didn't care anymore. He would tell her everything.

"yes. . . yes I did. . . " He put his head down in shame and collapsed below the windowseel of Ellery's window.

"I'm so sorry Ellery . . . I would not have done it if I had known it would hurt you. . ." He said this more to himself then to Ellery as he would know this could not make up for what he did to Ellery.

'Every time. . . am I descend to cause her pain every time. . .' He told himself and plunged himself in more shame.

Then out of no where he stood up and looked at Ellery in her tear watering eyes and wiped one of the tears from her cheek.

"Ellery I am truly sorry for your lose. . ."

"How could you do this to me," she screamed as she pushed him away. "How could you do it to anyone!?"
Smacking him suddenly, she realized that it didn't phase him in the least bit.

She was astounded as her hand throbbed with pain.

"How could you," she cried while sinking into the floor.

How could he have done something like that? But not just to her even, how could he just kill anyone, and act as though nothing had ever happened.
How could he just kill him..
Ellery didn't even want to picture someone as beautiful, even as Lee killing her best friend.

Lee placed his hand on the spot she slapped him on the cheek. He knew she had slapped him even though he felt no pain and for once he wish he could have felt something . . . He looked down at the broken girl and sighed.

" By all means Ellery I would never try to do this to hurt you. . . If anything I was trying to protect you. . ." He thought for a moment on how he was going to explain himself as to not scare her more then he already had.

"Ellery. I am sorry that you had to have met me in my current condition in life but I can not wait another 50 years to meet you again and regret never knowing you. . ." Lee spoke the end of the sentence mostly to himself as a reasureance that he had to stay for her even if it was out of his own selfishness. He knew he was a monster for wanting her even though it only caused pain for her in the past but he wouldn't make the same mistakes again.

"Ellery. I. . . uh. . . I'm so sorry Ellery. Please don't cry. . ."

Crying on the floor, she sunk her face down into her arms.
"How could you do this," she asked. Drying her face a bit, she sat back up, staring up at him with pleading eyes. "So what," she asked. "Now that I know, are you going to kill me too?"

Staring up at him, she prayed. Maybe she would get lucky, and it would be quick, and painless.
Maybe not. He could hurt her...

"Please," she whispered. "Just, kill me fast.."

Biting her lip, she prepared herself for whatever punishment he would lay down upon her.

Lee looked up to her in surprise. He then chucked a bit and moved from outside the windowseal to beside her on the floor. He pulled her face so she would look at him and smiled a small dorky smile.

"I would never . . . EVER hurt you. I hate that I've caused you so much emotional pain but it was not my intention. I would never purposely hurt you lo. . . " He cut himself off before he could finish his word. It had been a long time since he had felt emotion and now was not the time to add more confusion to this girl so he sighed again.

"I. . . I frighten you . . .Maybe I should go. . ." He begin to stand and stared at Ellery one last time with sadden eyes.

Falling against his legs, Ellery cried as she wrapped her arms around them,"Don't leave."

Why on earth was she telling him to stay with her?
She didn't know him at all, and he had just killed someone; her own friend.

"Please," she said, her face pressed into his pants.

'Please don't leave', she though over and over.
Maybe, the truth was, she didn't want to be alone.
She wanted someone there with her, regardless of their motives, their background.
She wanted him there now, and she pleaded, "Don't leave.."

Lee looked down at the pleading woman and sighed with a smile. He wished he could cry seeing Ellery still wanted him to stay but had no tears he could give.

"I will stay if that is what you wish" He said to her and fell down beside her and put his arms around her body in a way to comfort her. He looked down at the crying woman and sighed to himself. He had left all he knew and went against a lot of laws to get where he was and he was going to break the biggest law of them all. When she was better he wouldn't hold anything back. He would only tell her the truth and thats all he could give.

He looked down at her and sighed again at the careless mistake he had made about her friend and tried to find something to say.

"Do you think it is alright for me to be here. . . Will you not get in trouble?" He had smelt the presence of other persons but was unsure if she lived alone or with others so he asked out of concern.

Ellery held onto him tightly now, her body quivering as her head throbbed from all of the crying she'd done.
Her arms hung loosely around his body which seemed to radiate cold air, sending chills down her spine. Maybe it was because he had just been outside, I mean, it did get quite cold at night.

"I live by myself," she said blandly.

She was pretty sure by now, that if he wasn't annoyed with all of her crying, he would be soon.
ulling on his shirt, she got up from the floor, and walked over to her bed, "Close the window," she called while turning on the television.

After he did so, Ellery patted the spot next to her, "Come on.."

He moved over to her and smiled at her.

"If you still need to cry you don't have to act strong for me." He said to her as he saw the little stability she had. He put his hand over her shoulder and tried not to touch her skin with his own.

Lee thought for a moment as he waited for her reply and sighed to himself in shame. He felt horrible to what he had done to her and nothing he could do would make up for her lose and he felt a stab going through his being.

"I'm sorry Ellery. . ." he said in a low whisper.

Shrugging, Ellery wished he'd stop. Every time he started talking about being sorry, it only reminded her about Daniel.

"I'm fine," she choked out while burying her face into her bed.

The t.v. blared on about something she really didn't care about, some kind of commercial about the beach or something unnecessary.

"Just, don't talk about it... Please?"

Looking up at him, her eyes weren't wet, but they were hurt.
"Just, stop apologizing.."

"As you wish Ellery." He said with a crooked smile on his face. Then out of the corner of his eye he say the television and turned to see the beach setting before him in the open sun. He stared at it longingly for a moment and sighed.

Lee then looked around the room and tried to get a feel on who Ellery was.

"How old are you Ellery?" Lee said with curiosity and trying to start a conversation. He didn't stop to look at her and continued to gaze into her room. He wouldn't miss a single detail about who she was and couldnt wait to know more about her. Every now and again he would look back at the television in longing as so long there would be pictures of the sun he missed so much.

"I'm eighteen," she said with a half smile.

Glancing at the television, she smiled a bit, "How old are you?"

Now the answer to this question scared her. He looked like he was at least twenty, so this would be short lived. He would say,'Oh you're to young for me,'
and then leave her to rot, just as everyone else had always done.

Now she turned to face him, keeping her face in a very smooth and sincere expression,"I'm afraid you're probably too old for me.."

Lee snorted at the response to her question before hearing his answer. Him being older was a little bit of an understatement. But he had promised to tell her the truth and nothing but. He took a deep breath and told her as little as he could while still being true.

"Old. . . " he said to her hoping that would be enough. He knew it wouldn't be and she looked disappointed at his answer so he tried to make this answer a joke. . . feeling she wasn't able to handle the truth of what he was just yet.

"One hundred and thirty." He said and slapped a fake laugh after his statement. He looked at her on the corner of his eyes with his still plastered smile. Lee looked away completely for a moment and took a deep breath. Lee sort of regretted the breath as it made him really uneasy to be near her and out of reflex stiffened a bit at her touch.

Needless to say, Ellery was disappointed when he said he was old.

"One hundred and thirty," she asked while crossing her arms under her body.
"Really, how old are you?"

She wanted the truth this time, even if he was old, she wanted to know exactly how old he was.

"I want the truth," she added in quickly. "None of this nonsense about being a hundred and three. That's just silly. How old are you really?"

Staring at him intently, she smiled. "Come on," she said nudging him. "You know you want to."

Lee smiled at Ellery when she nugged him and laughed a bit but then begin to frown. He didn't want to endanger her more then he already has and he also didn't want to lie to her. He thought for a second and decided.

'I will protect her. I will tell her the truth and no matter who thinks they can lay a finger on her i wont let them. Even the Volturi.'

"I don't think you want to know. . . " He said still trying to pass of the joke that still hung in the air. He stopped laughing and sighed to himself.

'Here it goes. . .'

He looked straight into her eyes and smiled again but holding back a bit.

"I am really one hundred and thirty two. I like to make things even however so I like to tell everyone one thirty. . . " He looked at her this time with no laughter in his voice just fear.

"I said no lying," she whispered as she looked up to his face. Just then, she realized, he was the palest thing she'd ever seen. His skin looked nearly translucent as she stared up to him. But it put out good contrast to his hair color, and his eyes... they were gold as the sun. He was so beautiful, and god-like. He was like a statue you'd find in one of those expensive Greek restaurants.

But there was no trace of smile, or source of him joking as she stared at him.

"What do you mean you a hundred and thirty two," she demanded.

Now, nothing made even the least bit of sense.
How could he be one hundred and thirty two years old, it wasn't possible!

Noticing the change in Ellery's expression he guessed she noticed he wasn't lying anymore and took a deep breath.

"That is a little difficult to explain. . ." Lee looked at her with pleading eyes to not ask any more questions but he knew those eyes would to nothing to sway her from her future questions. Lee looked outside the window and slowly moved from his place beside Ellery and toward the window.

"I wish not to leave but I have a feeling with the information I'm about to give you, you would prefer for me to vacate for a while." Lee looked at Ellery one last time.

"I am a Vampiro. . . a vampire." Lee turned away from Ellery and waited outside the window to hear her reaction before he sped off.

What!?

Mentally, Ellery was freaking out. She didn't know what to say, or do.

This is impossible!? Am I going crazy!?

Ellery could feel her jaw dropping slightly, he was serious about this. And now, he was trying to leave. Of course, she could understand why as she sat there, staring at him in disbelief.
"Y-you're kidding," she gasped out finally, while stepping off of her bed, and towards him.
"Are you sure you're telling the truth, and aren't some, mental patient or something.."

Grabbing onto his sleeve, she pulled at him, trying to get him back inside.

"So the reason you didn't want to eat lunch, is because you would like, blow up or something if you got in the sun?"

Of course, this was very untrue, however, due to Hollywood's depiction of vampires such as Dracula, some people began to think that in a sense.

Lee held eye contact with Ellery and sighed again. He watched her confused face and thought for a moment on what to say. She looked freaked out and saying something he might regret later wasn't an option.

"Mental patient?" He giggled as he repeated her words to himself. He thought about it for a moment and laughed harder then took a breath. Lee smelt the stiffness in the air and froze and her intoxicating smell. His eyes turned a darker red for a moment and closed his eyes and tried to control himself.

"No I'm not a mental patient. I am what I said. And normally the answer would be no. . . I didn't eat lunch with you because of the sun but truth be told I haven't been outside in such a long time the sun burns." He looked at his skin and the redness of the old burns that were slowly healing. His eyes still with a hit of red looked away from her while he spoke and looked that the wall.
