"I told you already, I am Set. And it is his time." Set stated, quite firmly, "nothing that you do can change that. I already warned him."
Lakar squinted towards Set, "ah... so it is you..." he breathed, "yes, thank you for that... Asima" he turned to her as he struggled to sit up, "It's alright... I told you I didn't have much time left. Please don't be so sad." |
Asima hugged the male gently. “Who is he? He's scaring me, Lakar... Please don’t go Lakar…More is going to be asked of me, I know it…I can’t do it alone…you are my family…” |
Lakar gave Asima a gentle smile and touched her cheek lightly, "Asima, I will always be here for you, but I've lived on this earth far too long now. It's time for me to go. I promise you, I will always be there to watch out for you, just in a different way."
|
(I’ll be kinda slow cleaning…) “B-but you’re like my grandfather…” Asima muttered, once again hugging Lakar. “Why do you need to listen to that thing? Who is that? How can I get Set back, without you Lakar?” There, is she couldn‘t get the priest to stay, maybe Set could. |
"Asima, that is Set" Lakar told her gently, "not Hemset, but Set." he tried to explain.
Set crossed his arms, the sky was beginning to clear again but the culminated clouds were still rumbling distantly. His eyes seemed to hold a wisdom and power that was definitely beyond Hemset's years. |
The princess coughed as if she was choking on the air. Oh…he hadn’t been lying….this…this was Set? The…God? Asima wasn’t sure what she could say to make up for her blunders and disrespect she’d shown him, and simply stared for a moment, her mouth open. She snapped it shut a moment later, her hold tightening on Lakar. “Why must it be now? Can’t he stay, just a while longer?” Her eyes strayed to the clouds…it was one of Set’s realms supposedly, storms. As well as darkness, chaos, and the beautiful desert itself. He had been one of her favorite gods as a child, though he wasn’t widely worshiped. She was drawn to his dog like form he supposedly had, and since she’d always wanted to be more than a woman, the controlled chaos he had enticed her. But none of this explained why the God helped her. She frowned, wanting to question him, but holding her tongue. She would not question a God on matters concerning herself, merely to plead Lakar’s case. |
"No" Set replied, his appearance still quite calm although the brewing clouds continued to rumble, "I will allow you to say your goodbyes, but that is all. When I leave, I intend to take Lakar with me to the afterlife."
"Asima, it's alright." Lakar spoke softly, "Hemset will still be here to guide you, you have all your friends and loved ones now. I'm ready to move on, and I know you will be fine without me." |
”Not all of them.” Asima stated, “I love you, too. You may not be my blood grandfather, but you are. Thank you for everything you’ve done for me, Lakar…” She kissed the old man on the cheek, then bite her lip, holding in her tears. Her chocolate eyes went to the God, then. “M…may I ask you a question?” |
Lakar gave Asima a smile and squeezed her hand, "I have enjoyed every moment with you my dear. Please take all I have taught you to heart."
Set nodded to Asima, "You may." his replies were rather simple and short served. |
Asima debated. She hadn’t expected to be permitted a question. There were so many she had…so many she wanted answered. Lakar was going, she couldn’t get him to stay, no point in asking why. Everything had to die. She wanted to know why she’d been selected…wanted to know if Malum would live. Wanted to know if anything more was to be expected of her. Finally, she lowered her head and sighed, “Why me, then?” She finally decided. She didn’t want to know if Malum was to make it or not, because if he wasn’t, she could still hold the hope. And she didn’t want to know if more would be asked of her for the same reason. So, she wanted to know why, out of all the people she’d been selected. “I’m nothing special, just a human. Why was I the one decided to do all this?” |
"You are the Pharaoh's daughter. Isoteph was meant to draw this evil out for us, Horus chose him for it but it became clear he was more concerned with the survival of his own family rather than the bidding of the gods. Isoteph refused us, so we took the decision from him and passed it on to his children." those stormy eyes looked Asima over briefly, "you excelled where he failed, you should be proud."
|
Asima stared openly at Set. "Proud? Of something that has brought some much pain and suffering? Something that took so much from me? How am I supposed to be proud of the things I've had to do?". She'd killed, slept with that awful prince, and decieved her brother multiple times. "Is this all then? Nothing more will be expected of me?"
|
"Asima, daughter of Isoteph, sister of the current pharaoh and princess of Egypt, you have ended an evil that has plagued these lands since near the beginning of creation" Set stated, almost glaring at her for her insolence, "you have saved your loved ones from a fate worse than the after life and ended the pain and suffering that tainted these hearts. If such tasks were filled with ease, the world would hold no challenges, there would be no reason to strive for tomorrow, for anything greater than what is. Perhaps if you opened your eyes to the greater picture, you would see the good done here and not only the destruction." he turned his attention from the princess and held his hand towards Lakar, "It's time to go."
|
The princess was silent, save to turn to Lakar and kiss his cheek. "I'll miss you...". She muttered, finally stepping back. Set was right, she should open her eyes. That was usually her problem
While she waited, the princess moved back to Malum, touching his face gently. |
Lakar hugged Asima gently, "Be safe Asima" he told her, "and please don't forget what I've taught you, it would be a shame to lose all that potential" he smiled and then closed his eyes as he took Set's hand "Goodbye"
As soon as Asima turned away, she didn't even have to look back to know that they were both gone and that was the end of it. Malum was still completely out. |
The female buried her head into Malum’s chest, a had herself a good cry. After a bit, she stood, and straightened her dress, turning and moving up the stairs to locate Solum. He was, obviously, still tied, as he hadn’t been down, and Asima wearily cast, removing them. “Malum down there…come help me move him someplace safe, okay?” |
Solum groaned as he finally managed to get back up to his feet, rubbing the icy cold from his appendages, "uhg, what happened? Did I see Set?" he questioned on the way towards the pit.
|
”Uhhh.” Asima nodded, “Yup, you saw Set alright. He and Lakar are gone. Malum is asleep. He’s…exhausted…” The princess moved ahead of him, and knelt next to his white haired brother again. “Where do you want to take him?” |
Solum removed his cloak and wrapped Malum up in it, "I haven't really seen many people around here, but first thing's first, At least one of us shouldn't be seen." he stated, then glanced around in thought, "Lets head into the caves. We can leave Frodan once he's well enough to move. I don't want to risk going out in the desert until I know he'll be alright."
|
”Alright…” Asima muttered, before concentrating and carefully lifting Malum up with magic. “Lead the way…” |
Solum nodded and carefully lead the way out and into the tunnels, they didn't really run into anyone along the wya, but the conscious twin was no less cautious about it. Finally he opened a door where they could settle down within a comfortable chamber together.
|
Asima settled Malum on the pillows, smiling. He’d been so open, hugging her and touching her…though, she knew when he woke he would have to be the same Malum, as harsh as always. “I’m sorry about leaving you there, Solum.” She finally stated, though she didn’t look up. “OH! The daggers! I need to go get them, alright?” |
Solum nodded, "Go ahead, I'll stay here." he sat down next to his brother, still double checking to make sure he was still alive. It was a little difficult to believe.
|
Asima nodded, before leaving the room. She set out for the pit once more. Hopefully, the items were still there… |
Both the black and white blades had reformed into those perfectly crafted dove statues when Asima returned.
