Asima gathered the doves up, and made her way back quickly, though she tried to be as secretive as Solum had been. Once inside the room, she automatically asked, “Any change?” Despite her asking, she moved to Malum to check herself, setting the doves next to him, on either side. |
Solum sighed, "not-" he was cut off as his brother suddenly began to stir, "uh, actually..."
Malum's eyes slowly opened, staring at the ceiling and taking their time to focus. At least that unnatural darkness seemed to be passed from them, but he was still silent, trying to figure out what was going on and what had just happened. |
The princess managed to contain most of her excitement, though she smiled broadly, perching next to the male and waiting for him to adjust. |
Malum was silent for a long time, slowly getting himself in a sitting position and looking over Asima and his brother carefully. "... okay, quit starin' and somebody explain to me what's going on." he stated at last, only to be answered by Solum grinning and glomping him.
"You're alright!" the king exclaimed. Malum startled, "I-uh... y-yeah... I think so anyway... What the heck did I miss?" |
Asima waited, bouncing gently on the bed, until Solum had released his brother, then hugging Malum tightly. “So glad you’re back…” She breathed, reluctantly releasing him and sitting back down, fiddling with her fingers. “Umm…the…the last thing you saw here was the door closing. Um…Nemiah and Solum are…kinda helping each other out. With Hemsjik, And he asked me to go to Arabia and spy on him, though I…” The princess paused, lowering her head further. “I didn’t get any information about that, I got the black dove from him. And the white one was in the palace, but you knew that. And…and…Lakar is gone. Set took him away after you came back but fell unconscious. Um, but I dunno what else to tell you on my end.” She grabbed the doves, and set them in Malum’s view, before turning her gaze to Solum. |
Malum blinked, taking it all in but still rather confused looking, "umm... okay... sure? ... Solum, when did you get that scar?" he pointed to the one alongside Solum's face.
Solum blinked, in much the same confused manner, "What? That was when we were running from Keg... don't you remember?" "Keg... that... yeah." Malum shook his head, "kinda... I remember him but, it's all kind of messed up..." |
Asiima’s heart sank. She’d messed up the spell, and now Malum’s memories were just as messed up. She lowered her head further, tears starting to sting her eyes. “We need to take him to see Set. Hemset. I must have messed up the spell…I’m sorry, Malum!” |
"Ah, it's alright" Malum tilted her chin up gently to look Asima in the eyes, "memory spells aren't easy, I might not have even been able to give you all mine. The important thing is that I know who you two are at least. We can work things out from there..."
"We didn't split up much" Solum added, "maybe I can share a few of mine to get you back to normal." |
Asima nodded, raising her eyes briefly to meet Malum’s and letting them drop once more. “Even though the creature is gone, you will still act as the King of Thieves, won’t you?” Solum hadn‘t been able to handle it, and he could always get hurt. Asima doubted he would let Solum continue. |
"I don't see why not" Malum replied, "but hey, at least the worst is over right?"
Solum frowned a little, "... maybe you should take a little more time off. We need to figure out what you remember and everything. Otherwise there could be terrible problems..." "I... suppose..." Malum sighed, "oi, more memory digging." |
Asima sighed. She’d been so hopeful…But it wasn’t right of her to ask or expect anything from Malum. She nodded then, reaching out to stroke the white dove absentmindedly. “As soon as you feel well enough, then, we should see Set. He should know more about that than anyone.” The princess still couldn’t bring herself to look up, instead focusing on each cut that had carved out the dove. |
Malum and Solum exchanged a glance, and then Malum grinned and glomped Asima, "You're being such a downer" he commented, "Cheer up! Everything's alright now!"
|
Asima squealed, surprised as Malum gripped her tightly. Her choclate eyes were wide when she glanced back at Malum, and finally allowed a smile on her face. Yes, surely everything would be fine now… The princess lifted a hand to run a finger along Malum’s jaw line. “I missed you. I’m sorry you went through that. But, you’re right. Everything will be fine now. How are you feeling, Malum?” |
"I feel fine" Malum replied, getting to his feet and offering her his hand, "Why don't we get a move on, we can talk about whatever I'm missing along the way back to taking you home."
|
Taking her home? Malum didn’t intend to leave her there, right? Panic gripped her. Solum had wanted her to leave Frodan, when he’d thought it was too dangerous, but surely Malum didn’t think that… Asima frowned, taking Malum offered hand with a bit of surprise. “You mean, taking you to see Set. I’ve been Solum’s bodyguard for a while now…If you intend to step up as King of Thieves again, I intend to be there with you…” |
"Solum's body guard? Really?" Malum looked curious and a bit confused, "hm..."
"She's done rather well actually" Solum commented, "I don't think I'm very much cut out for it though." "Well I knew that" Malum quipped, then looked back at Asima, "but when did you learn how to do all that?" |
”While you were gone…” Asima muttered, looking down once again. She wasn’t proud of the things she’d had to do. “I didn’t think we could kill that thing, but I knew you wouldn’t want Solum’s soul belonging to it, so I…tried to help. Solum taught me the signals and everything.” The last was stated proudly. (I’ll be back in a while…) |
"Oh" Malum blinked, "okay... well... either way I think we should head back. Staying here is probably not the greatest idea right now."
|
(You are up late…) “Oh?” Asima echoed, her brows furrowing. She’d thought he’d be at least a little proud that she’d stepped up and done the things she had to protect Solum. “Alright….shall we take the horses? There are only two, but it would still be quicker, even having to take it easy. I’m sure Nemiah will let you two stay for a bit…” |
((Twas brief x.x I had just gotten home from being out with a friend X.x sooo laaaattte))
Malum nodded, "that sounds like a good plan. We should probably get going" he headed for the door, although upon stepping into the hallway he froze, glancing down either way. Solum looked up sharply, assuming something was terribly wrong, "What is it?" he whispered, his hand reading for a dagger. "... I don't know which way to go..." Malum blinked. "oh..." Solum put the dagger away and stepped out with him, he brought the hood up on Malum's cloak, "I'll lead then. And don't let anyone see you." "Right-that. Okay." Malum adjusted the hood and began following his brother out. |
(Ahhhh…it’s fine! ^u^) This really wasn’t good… It was quite dangerous for Malum. Asima grabbed the doves and trailed after the brothers. She kept her eyes open, just in case there was danger. Would Malum even remember how to fight? (Can we skip the traveling? Kisu does hate da traveling….) |
((lol, yes of course. Teh traveling is a tad snooze festy))
Solum lead the way out of Frodan and across the desert to the main city. Malum rode along with Asima, letting her take lead for the most of it, probably because he didn't want to admit he wasn't sure which way they were going. They made it to the palace by the next day, where the twins both kept their hoods up and let Asima lead the way in through the gates. |
Finally home. Home with Malum, alive and whole. The princess glanced behind her doubtfully. Well, mostly whole. She located her brother, and moved forward to hug him, for once not bothering to see if she was interrupting anything. She’d thought she was dead, dammit, and if she wanted to hug her brother, she would. So there. But, may want to ask his permission about Malum and Solum… (Yay!) |
Nemiah cut off in the middle of a sentence as soon as Asima entered the throne room. He didn't even ask, he just saw the look on her face and stepped down from the throne to give her a hug and a reassuring smile that everything would be alright.
Solum and Malum hung back in the entrance to the room, silent as they ever are in the presence of others who probably shouldn't know they're there. |
Asima beamed at her brother. Nemiah had only been cruel to her once, and she’d deserved that. He was always so supported and strong. After a moment, she made her apologies to the group he’d been speaking to, and glanced back at her brother. “My. Er, guards and I will be resting. And talking to Set, if he’s not here with you….” She glanced around. “Uh, when you are done, could I speak to you?” |
