Nemiah chuckled, then paused, "... hmm... Actually, that sounds like fun. I mean, the last time I went on a trip anywhere it was to Frodan and... that wasn't much of a vacation." he shrugged, "But to actually see Egypt. That'd be great. I might get some fresh perspective-at the very least that's how I'm going to spin it to all those stuck up advisors" he laughed.
|
His sister snorted, but nodded. "It would be good for you...I don't like to see my fireball brother cooped up inside all the time. Where do you think you'll go first?" |
"Hmmmm, I don't know" Nemiah lay back on the shore, "Where do you think? You've been around more than I have."
|
"Not for pleasure purposes...." Asima responded. "I've mostly just tagged along after Malum..." She bit her bottom lip for a moment, staring at the sky. "Nemiah...he's going to change back. When he gets his memories back fully...he's not the same person now, but he'll go back to the way he way. I won't know if anything he has said like this is true...I'm afraid I'll lose him."
|
Nemiah sighed, "I don't know what to say Asima. I can't tell you what's going to happen with him all I can promise is that no matter what, I'll still be here for you."
|
The princess hesitated, then lowered her head, nodding. She should be grateful top have her brother her. And besides, she'd gotten what she truly wanted, and was able to have both men for just a little while. She'd been blessed.
She sighed and looked up once again, smiling. "You're right, Nemiah. I need to be grateful. Thank you." |
(aannnddd finally! *background music plays as the scene moves to back to something interesting again!*)
Eventually Set had the three necessary individuals gathered. He had ensured that no other priests or anyone would be disturbing them in one of the side prayer rooms of the temple and had prepared said room for the spell. There were no windows, everything lit with candles in a very particular pattern with three places to sit around one central cleared area that Set stood within. "Alright" the young Priest took a cleansing breath, "This is how it's going to work," he faced Asima and Solum, "I'm going to go through all of your memories. It's crucial that you don't hold anything back because the harder this is for me, the better the chance of something going very wrong. One slip up and the-" he paused briefly to clear his throat, "ah, any one of us could end up with the wrong memories of who they are, or even no memories at all." "So I have to trust you with everything?" Solum questioned, clearly not liking the sound of this. "You do have my oath not to speak of anything unduly," Set promised, taking another steady breath, "we're just going to have to trust each other." "Each other? You mean we all have to trust you... right?" Malum asked, not so much snide as confused. "No, I'm just trying to sort through everything" Set ran a hand through his hair, "We're all going to see the same things and I'll need your help. If we're all sorting at once it'll be a bit easier, but you'll have to go through me to give anything to Malum, which kind of makes my memories fair game to." "This is sounding riskier by the minute" Malum rubbed the back of his head, "is it really so important?" "I don't really understand how this works, but yes, it's really damned important." Solum frowned. |
Asima was quiet as Set spoke though she kept throwing worried glances to Malum. It would be hard to go back to how things were between them. Sorting through memories, well, that didn't bother her so much. She'd already seen a lot of Malum's, and hers were nothing special. Solum's and Set's would be interesting, though. What would bother her would be the cold look back in Malum's eyes when they were through. The princess sighed and nodded. "'Kay. What do you need us to do, Set?" |
"Sit around me" Set ordered, his hands fiddling a little with nerves, "Malum, you there, Asima and Solum in the other two spots." he gestured around, "There's a small drought by each seat, take it and then close your eyes and begin to meditate. I'll guide you from there"
|
Asima obeyed, avoiding looking at any of the men. After a moment, however, she opened an eye, peeking around her. She hesitated for a moment, before reaching over, and brushed her fingers over Malum's thigh. Her own private goodbye to the man he was now. She obeyed Set once again, and closed her eyes, breathing in, then slowly out. |
As the trio meditated, Set began the enchantment. Each little potion that the three had taken was making their minds strangely foggy. As Set connected to them one at a time however, a powerful focus brought them together. It was like hurling through time and space, the surrounding world reeling all around them until finally stopping and they all opened their eyes-still sitting in that same room.
Set took a moment to look around, "okay... good..." "... okay, that felt weird-but nothing's happened" Solum raised a skeptical brow, "what are we supposed to do now?" "What do you mean nothing's happened? Can't you feel it?" Malum's eyes were wide, gazing around the room, "there's so much here..." The room felt as though it was pulsing, and surrounding each person was a faint outline of a door, only visible because the smoke from the candles couldn't go through it. "What are you talking about?" Solum looked as confused as ever. |
Experimentally, Asima leaned over and poked the door above Malum's head. "What do they do?" She hesitated, before glancing to Solum as well. "And why can't Solum see all this?"[/collor]
|
"Each of these is a door into our minds" Set explained, "but it take a level of ability to see all this, to the untrained eye it could very well look as though nothing's happened, I guess Solum just doesn't have an eye for it."
"You were never all that good with magic" Malum commented to his brother, then looked at Set, "yours is different" "That's because we're actually in my mind right now. I'm the established middle ground between the three of you." Set glanced around, a bit curiously, "it looks like the same room, but we've actually left the real one behind. Our bodies are stationary, asleep basically, giving our minds the freedom to roam." "So we're in your head, in a room that looks like the room we're in?" Solum rolled his eyes, "just to keep things from getting complicated. How are we supposed to know what's real when we get back?" he poked one of the outside walls curiously but his hand went right through it, causing the entire image to flicker. The world around them reeled again, flashing images of sand and cities, Frodan and the Palace, underground tunnels and secret passages, smiling faces of Asima, Nemiah, Lakar and people Asima wouldn't have known yet as soon as they were seen a deep familiarity branched for a moment until Set grabbed Solum and threw him towards the center of the room away from the wall. "Do you mind?" The young priest hissed, "There's a reason I put up these walls, don't mess with them" |
The princess wobbled a bit as everything flooded her mind, and shuddered. This would be tough. "Uhm. Let's pick a door, then? Whose should we go through first?"
|
"Yours" Solum replied, arms crossed once back on his feet, "I'm not quite used to this yet"
"Just don't touch anything" Set scolded the thief before walking over to Asima. |
Asima wrinkled her nose, but nodded, shooting Solum a dark glance. "Wouldn't it be easier to move into Set's first? He could lay the guidelines down...stuff like that..." She finally spoke up a bit hopefully, glancing to Malum for support. |
"That's a pretty good point" Malum chimed but Set shook his head a little.
"it is" the priest replied, "but I have the least amount of memories of Malum. If for some reason I don't have the strength to finish, it won't be as important. I figure we have between five and ten minutes before I'm out of energy-thankfully time translates a bit differently in here. Ten minutes I think is about an hour." |
The princess's sour expression deepened a bit. "Alright. We don't see opinions or hear thoughts or anything, right?"
|
"... I can try keep those out, but it's not going to be easy..." Set rubbed the back of his head, "althogh, like I said earlier, I'm also going to put up a barrier after all this, neither of you two should remember what happens after this point."
|
"Neither of us?" Asima frowned. "Solum and you will remember?" She folded her arms over her chest, and stepped back. "I don't know if this is a good idea, on second thought..."
|
"Malum has to remember, and like I said I'm filtering your memories" Set stated, "as soon as I figure everything's gone smoothly with Malum, I can put up a barrier for myself as well, if you'd prefer. And now's not a great time to suddenly back out." he crossed his arms a bit irritably. He hadn't even wanted to do this from the start after all.
"Just do it" Solum groaned, "Malum needs to remember and we only have so much time. There's no use in arguing about it." |
Asima was silent for a minute, before nodding. Set was right. But, what if he couldn't block out all of her thoughts and Malum heard them? She shivered and glanced at the male. He already thought she was weak. "Okay. Is there any way I can help you block out my memories?" |
"Just... don't fight it" Set replied and lifted his hand to touch the foggy door surrounding Asima.
The world blurred and shifted and moments later the princess woke in that very same room. The mystical doors were gone from around the others who were also beginning to stir. Solum mumbled and rubbed his head, looking around a bit disorientated, Set looked like he would have fallen over had he been standing and Malum was sitting there with his eyes still closed. |
Asima glanced around, completely puzzled. "What happened? I...didn't try to fight it, right? Or...is it done, and I just don't remember?" She looked to Set for clarfication, and frowned as she took in his weariness. "Should I get some water for you? You want to rest for a bit?" |
"spinning..." Set lowered himself back on the floor, staring up at the ceiling, "rest-yes... Make sure he knows who he is... give him time..." he pointed towards Malum and then yawned and closed his eyes. Set fell asleep, and it was no wonder, it felt like the entire room and everyone in had been sucked of most their magic.
