Malum snatched the dates, beginning to wolf them down as he sat on the ground. He gave no indication whether he had even heard her, so he was neither agreeing nor stopping her from using the spell.
Asima moved behind Malum, gulping audibly. After a moment, she pressed her shaking hands to his shoulders, sliding under his shirt to press against the bare skin there. She almost flinched away from the pain of the heat, before reminding herself Malum felt this all the time, and continued, chanting softly, until she felt her palms icing over, and pushed the magick into Malum, hopefully cooling him.
Malum stopped, a small shiver trailing down his spine as the ice spread across his charcoaled skin, the cold energy flowing right into his body. Asima could feel his strong muscles begin to relax a little, although he was still fairly warm, it wasn't quite to the degree of beforehand. Malum's hand reached for more food from the basket.
The princess backed away from Malum, moving to sit in front of him, making sure she was at least an arm's length away. "Malum, do you remember what we spoke of?"
His eyes were closed, even now the ice was melting and he was enjoying it while he could. After a moment he opened them and turned his gaze upon her again, a bit more clear headed. "I do" he replied simply, his eyes quickly getting distracted by the basket of food however.
"And you agree to give Nemiah a month, and take me to Frodan in return for bringing you back?" Asima spoke hesinatly, her gaze fluttering around the cave as she trembled, a mixture of the cold and fear.
"A month?" he hesitated, then nodded a little with a frown, "only a month." he winced as the fire in his skin began to creepy back in.
Asima nodded, inching back to Malum, once more casting the spell. "Set is waiting to undo this spell when we get back, though it may hurt and burn a little, I'm be casting this freezing spell on you to keep you cool, okay? But try not to get agravvated and pull away. You could burn right away, alright?" Asima pushed more ice into his body, moving to get a bit more food from the basket and hand it to Malum. "And Solum is there as well."
Malum pretty much devoured any food within reach. His blackened skin was cracked and bleeding slightly in places, although the carefully placed ice seemed to help still. "Solum?" he repeated, "how... what did he do?" he question, turning and grabbing Asima's wrists in suspicion, "You changed your mind-why?" malum's voice was suddenly demanding again, "Why did you come back?"
The princess whimpered slightly, trembling. "M-malum!" She whimpered, her chocolate eyes widened in fear. "Please, I don't want to leave you here, but I need to know Nemiah will be safe...P-please, you're hurting me! I j-just want to know why you want him dead so badly..."
"A-and Solum is fine! H-he's waiting for you, back home. He wants you home safetly, Malum!" Asima pleaded, while avoiding the main question proposed. |
Malum shoved Asima to the ground, pinning her there as he searched her eyes for the truth. He was far too accustom to being stabbed in the back and turned on whenever he was at his worse, it made every little thing seem suspicious at this point. "Take me back" he ordered, "Now."
Another yell filled the air, Asima struggling to get away from Malum. "S-stop! I won't, not until you tell me! I-I can't! Please!" The princess felt tears begining to sting her eyes, though she attempted to push them away. "Tell me, Malum, please! You're hurting, let go!"
After a moment he released her, pulling away although continuing to watch her like a hawk. "and why should you even believe whatever I tell you?" he questioned, "You can always just pretend I'm lying, whether I am or not."
Asima scrambled to her feet, whimpering as she pressed herself against the wall. "B-because Solum told me you keep your word, so if you gave me your word you were telling the truth...Please, I need to know what I'm getting my brother back into?"
Malum watched her carefully, "... Your brother is an unfit Pharaoh." he stated bluntly, "Your father was just as bad. Like father, like son, except it's been going that way for generations." he rose to his feet slowly, "simple as that. Satisfied?"
"It can't be. You spoke of placing me on the throne. What would make me any different than my brother or father?!" Despite the fear Asima felt as Malum stood, she spoke loudly, lifting her chin in defiance.
"Hm. I'm not blind to the prophesy" Malum replied, "you may still be redeemable, although it's no trouble killing you in the end if you aren't."
"Y-you know of this propecy as well?" Asima's eyes widened further, before she shook her head. "Malum, please. There has to be something! Something I can get Nemiah to do that would make you not want his death so badly..." She knew this was an old ploy, but she could still try. "I don't want you to die-I still have those dreams sometimes! I don't want to leave you here, and I'm afraid you are going to force my hand on the matter!" She spoke quickly now, out of desperation. "Please?"
"Now you're just insulting me" Malum growled, "if there was a better solution, I would have used it already. So either take me back or leave me here. Decide now princess, I'm through playing games."
Asima stared behind Malum for a moment, before lowering her head and nodding. "F-fine...but the thrity days starts tommorrow, alright? So Nemiah can get the message, okay?" She moved next to the male, reaching up to touch his shoulders, pushing more ice into his veins. Hopefully, Set would be ready,
"Fine" he grunted in response. Malum winced slightly at the amount of cold. although he didn't protest, he knew how quickly it would soon melt away.
Asima slipped a necklace around Malum, keeping her hand on his shoulder. "Set, take us home." She whispered, adding, unsure if Set would hear, "Be ready to heal Malum."
Moments later the white ice disappeared back to the sandy waves of Egypt. Malum gasped as the heat hit rather suddenly. He dropped to his knees as Set quickly wrapped up the portal spell and moved forward. The look on the little boy's face wasn't good, "Aduratura" he mumbled nervously, it just had to be the most difficult of the two? Of course it did, Lakar had been trying to kill him.
Asima was pushing more ice into Malum, biting her tounge as she kept the ice going. She had to do this, if not to save Malum, for her own life. After a moment, her chocolate eyes lifted to Set, falling down quickly as she saw the boy coming to aid Malum.
Set took a deep calming breath before stepping forward. Despite his obvious distaste for the job at hand, he didn't hesitate. His hands began to glow as he summoned his magic and know-how into healing the thief King. After a moment set nudged Asima, "I need you to take away the ice. It's interfering" he stated with a frown. As soon as the ice was gone, Malum had but moments.
