((Sure, if you like))

(Very well.)
It had been a long, busy day in the hot sun. Covered in flour once more, the princess was moving back to the tavern. Now, she didn't even have to pay attention to where she walked, it was second nature, as if this was truly Asima's home. Past the marketplace, stopping to sniff at the exotic purfumes she could pour in her water, then past the large outcropping, her chocolate eyes glancing up to see if Malum was on his perch, and then just another block to her home. She moved inside, stopping to use the bucket outside to clean her arms, and rested at a table, as she did most nights. |
Malum was hanging around up on his balcony, although for once solum wasn't with him.
The tavern was busy that night, although for the most part people still left Asima alone. Until a brown haired man pulled up a seat across from Asima. He flashed her a smile, "Hello there princess. Malakai Ikari at your service, Keg mentioned you might have something to send" |
Her eyes had widened as the boy slid into the seat, though after a moment, she nodded and smiled polietly. "I wasn't expecting you...especially not so soon...If you'll hold on one second, I'll run upstairs and get it..." Asima fluttered up the stairs, quickly grabbing a bit of papyrus, etching on it quickly. Her note was simple, addressed to Set, letting him know she was in Frodan, and he needed to get ahold of Nemiah, and find a woman who could be trusted.
Asima planned to bring the woman here, having Nemiah either follow masquerading as some more theives or perhaps set it up so Set could watch her magically. If Nemiah could see what Set was doing as well, he could know where they were going and follow. Hopefully, it would be a tiny loophole for Asima anyway, bringing a woman who had no idea of her plan here. Then Asima wouldn't have brought someone to the city that wished to harm Malum or anything. She wasn't very good at making plans, but it was all she had. Asima rushed back downstairs, ignoring the barking behind her. "Mister Malakai Ikari, I need this to go to Set...He is in the palace temple, and he can get ahold of my friend easily. No one is to see the message, alright?" |
"Of course, that is the business I am in" Malakai grinned and gave a polite nod of his head, "mind you, it is a business, not free."
"I understand..." Asima reached unto her wrist, lifting off the bracelet she'd grabbed from upstairs. "It's not actual money, but it is worth quite a bit...Would you accept it as payment? I'm sure a jeweler would give you money for it, I've just yet to get to one..."
"Ah, most certainly miss" he took the bracelet, looking at it a moment before pocketing it, "consider the deed done" he nodded again before turning to leave.
Asima watched him go, tilting her head slightly. Hopefully, the male could be trusted. With a sigh, she sunk into her chair, playing with the tiny glass of water brought to her. After a moment, she had the water twirling around her finger, her tounge poking out of the side of her mouth. Water was horrible, wanting you to be 'flexible and firm'. Not like she could be both... Asima's thoughts drifted to the black and white conversation of the previous night.
"You're pretty good at that" commented another male who sat down across from Asima. As many people as there where who hid beneath cloaks and disguised voices, somehow there was always a way to tell when it was Solum. "what else can you do I wonder?"
The water splattered over the table, a loud eep coming from Asima. A passing waitress stopped, glancing at the girl. She smiled, waving her on. Asima wiped the liquid up, using the sleeve of her dress, before moving to Solum, sitting next to him. "Does it matter? Neither you or your brother seemed to care one ounce for my well being since I've been here..." She practically hissed, before straightening and looking away. "I'm sorry, I'm just very tired. Forgive me. How have you been, Solum?"
Solum chuckled a little at the water mishap, "We held our end of the bargain, just as you did yours. That's business, Asima. It's just how life works." he leaned back, "I have been well, and I see you have as well. All settled in it seems, eh?"
Asima nodded, glancing away. "The Keg you spoke about so harshly has helped me quiet a bit. He's not at all like you described, and though nothing was in it for him, he has helped me find a job and contact a friend of mine." Though she spoke polietely, her tone was layered, as if she wished to say more, but was biting her tounge.
"Of course he helped you, whether you accept it or not, you're still the princess of Egypt, and you're still next in line for the throne." Solum stated, "He's just getting on your good side. He'll ask for something eventually, you'll see. And by then you'll be obligated to help him." he shook his head, "Keg is deceptive. I still advise staying away from him."
Asima narrowed her chocolate eyes at Solum. "I doubt I'm next in line now, Nemiah has problem publicily disowned me. And I can't just turn away from Keg now. He's done quite a bit to help me. And whatever he asked can't be as bad as asking to kill my brother..." After a moment, she shook her head. "It doesn't matter, what's done is done. How are you and Malum?"
"Hm, I haven't heard anything about you being disowned. Usually news like that travels fast." Solum replied, then shrugged, "The King is well, as well am I. I just wanted to see how you were doing. Malum may not admit it but I'm sure he's curious about you to."
Asima snorted softly at his last comment, turning her face away. "I'm fine, as you can see. I work in a Baker's store. Mathew? I'm not sure if you have heard of him. Oh! I've learned to pickpocket and pick locks as well." She beamed at the last part, as if the tiny talents were worth bragging about. "And the pups are dogs now. They've grown very fast..."
"Mathew is a good man" Solum nodded, "one of the few who can get away with not choosing a side in this war."
Asima was quite about this, probbing a dent in the table. Finally, she simply muttered, "Yeah." After a bit longer, the princess glanced up at Solum. "For someone who wanted to see how I was, you don't have much to say...How did you know where I was, anyway?"
"I see you from the balcony almost every day on your way back here." Solum replied simply, "And I've never been one to talk a lot. I usually leave that to Malum. Besides, I've already seen for the most part how you are... it's just nice to hear it from you yourself. But you're right, I don't have much to say, perhaps I'll just leave you alone" he began to stand in order to depart.
Asima sat silently, unsure of what to say. After a moment, she stood as well. "If that's what you wish, Solum...It was nice seeing you once more."
Solum hesitated, "... Asima... please bear in mind, for you own safety... Keg can not be trusted."
"What am I supposed to say to him, Solum? Thanks for your help, now leave me alone. I don't recall you offering me assistance, Solum. Thank you for your concern, though it may have come a tag to late." She spoke softly, not wanting to add and further sharpness or malice into her voice.
"Everyone in this town had to start somewhere Asima. Every single person began from nothing and where they are is a result of their own hard work. It's the only way to learn how to really survive, and that's to learn you don't get anything for nothing in this world. Everything has it's price, and I tried to warn you about him before but it seems you wouldn't listen then, or now. It's not too late. You don't have to side with Keg."
She stepped back, as if Solum had struck out at her. "Who said I was siding with him, Solum? He's a nice person, and I can't just turn my back on him. What makes him so terrible? Malum killed his father, just as he killed mine. I don't blame Keg for wanting him dead, but that doesn't mean I would help him do it or anything of that nature. Your brother will get what is coming to him, without or without my input. Not everything is black and white." She paused, surpised at what she'd said.
"Hm. But some things, for some people are" Solum stated, "And you do not have the choice of a grey area in this war. Either you are with Keg, or you are for Malum... and I don't want to see you get hurt, but if you're with that man, then it is out of my hands."
