Asima nodded, giving the old man a hug. "I told Solum I was just going for a walk, I should be getting back. Will you be alright, Lakar? I know you said not to worry, but I will anyway." |
"I survived your grandfather's rule, I survived your father, and I shall do just fine with Nemiah" Lakar replied assuringly, "I have seen how quickly such moods can pass upon careful reflection or a shred of evidence. I can only hope Karth gives him the moment to find either" he stood and offered her his hand up, "Will you be alright though?"
Asima gratefully accepted the male's help, hugging him and nodding. "I'm...not his sister now. Just like that..." She shook her head, looking down. "I'll never get to see and nieces or nephews, won't be able to talk to him." She plastered a smile on her face, trying to see a bit stronger than she felt, "I'll be fine. It's just a big...ger change. Goodbye, Lakar...I hope I'll get to see you again." |
He hugged her back tightly, then gently wiped a stray bit of tear residue from her cheek, "Just give it time my dear" he told her softly, "we will meet again"
Asima had nodded, though she wasn't so sure. This would surely changed things in Frodan as well. She doubted she would be so welcome now. Her sole purpose had been so Malum could gain more supporters, because of her connection to the throne. Asima decided to keep quiet about the matter, maybe by the time word got to Malum, she would already be in Frodan and could stand on her feet... She arrived back at the hut, her mind in shambles, surprised to find her limbs still trembled. Moving into the hovel, Asima glanced around, unsure of who would be there, not wanting to have to see Sarah. The other girl was another mistake that sat in front of her, and Asima didn't want to deal with that. Not while Nemiah's words still bounced around in her brain. |
Solum was just outside the hut, stretching and practicing his fighting techniques. He had been complaining for awhile that he felt slow and weak because he hadn't been keeping up with his general activities.
Asima hesitated at the door of the hut, watching him for a moment. Purely on impulse, Asima heard herself asking, "Solum...can you teach me? I know I wouldn't be good enough for that, and I know the very basics, but could you teach me somethings I can use to defend myself?" |
"Hm?" Solum turned to her curiously, then shrugged, "Sure I guess... heh, if I can teach Malum a thing or two, how hard could it be to teach you?" he chuckled.
Asima planted a smile on her face at his joke, though it faded a bit too quick. (Meh...Time skip?) |
((Hmm, yes. Me thinkith tis also a good time for me to get my jogging in, because I have to run off and do things today))
(Very well...I don't have to work today, do you know what time you'll be back on?) Later in the evening, a completely exhausted Asima had finally coaxed Solum to move inside. It was strange, laughing and joking when she felt like crying. Perhaps the thieves were wearing off on her a bit, and she was learning to lie much better. As dinner was given to them, Asima sat next to the male, reddening as she glanced over at him. "Solum...do you think..." She hesitated. They weren't close, and Asima had no intention of telling the events that had happened earlier, but Nemiah's words had stung her. However, she did know him more than the slaves, and Sarah wasn't an option. And with him guarding his brother's door, he had to of realized what had occurred between them, so Asima felt this was the only person she could currently get an opinion from. And this was the only matter she could ask him about, as the other problems would give away the day's events. "Do you think less of me, because I slept with Malum..?" Asima stared at the bowl in her lap, the contents full as she waited for the reply. |
(Hmm.... well I may sneak on again before I actually leave, it depends how long it takes me to do things. then my stuff goes until like 4, the bus takes like an hour unless I can hitch a ride.... sooo.... five? I hope?))
(I see I see. You have fun then! ^u^ I miss the buses in Chicago...:C) |
Solum looked at her, his portion already half gone, "Why would I think less of you?" he asked, "does sleeping with someone change who you are and have always been? I don't think it does, so honestly, I don't care who does what with whom" he shrugged, "It's what people do outside of the bedroom that I use to judge whether I like them or not-which is probably a good thing, considering I don't see a lot of people in the bedroom..." he looked thoughtful, "that might be awkward..." he laughed.
Asima smiled and chuckled at the male's joke, before handing him her bowl, "You need it." She moved away with his bowl, as soon as it was gone, cleaning it and helping the slaves with what they needed to get done. She wasn't pleased with his answer, but couldn't truly expect another one. Her actions and her past would make most people look down upon her, view her as a whore and hypocrite, just as her brother did. Hn. Maybe she was those things, half the time Asima no longer knew what she wanted, and she never knew what to do. The only thing that constantly nagged her was her constant endeavor to do what was right, to help people, and do what some stupid prophesy wanted of her. Why was it so hard for her? After that, Asima crawled next to him once more, bringing her knees to her chest and glancing at him doubtfully. She began asking him questions with him once more, "Do you think he's alright? After my debt is paid, will it be like before? I mean, with you two just ignoring me, and me getting another job, things like that? Do you think I'm as hopeless as Malum does?" She contemplated a moment, glancing at his side, "I wasn't even able to help when he was betrayed..." |
Solum handed her bowl back to her, "that's enough of sharing your food, I'm just about better, I don't need it more than you" he stated in a very unarguable tone. "I'm not sure what to expect at this point. Malum and I haven't really spent this much time apart in... well... ever" he shifted a bit uncomfortably, "but I am pretty sure that he'll never go back to ignoring you again. You're doing your best to help the most you can, we both appreciate it. I'm not sure how you did that lightning thing before, but if you hadn't we would be a far worse situation. You're not hopeless, you saved us."
(*Bounces* Yay! Kitty! ^u^) "Huh?" It took a moment for Asima to remember, and she shook her head, frowning at her bowl. "First off, I may have been trying, but I clearly haven't helped very much. See, the lightning wasn't me..." She dipped into her shirt, tugging the necklace out and showing it to Solum, "Lakar gave it to me, in case of emergencies. It was his spell that saved us. I made a shield..." She gazed at his side sheepishly once more, "Or tried to anyway. I'm actually kinda nervous about my magic now, after sending Malum to the white sand. I know it was only cause of my stupidity, and I can use it just fine, but still." She gave a tiny sigh, holding the bowl up, "I can't eat right now. And you may be healed, but it wouldn't hurt..." |
"You've barely eaten since we got here, keep up your strength" Solum insisted and then continued, "and if you hadn't been there, whether it was Lakar's spell or not, they would have killed me and taken Malum to be killed by Keg... that would cause a lot of problems. And that shield explains why this cut wasn't any worse, I knew he could hit harder than that..."
Asima set the bowl down with a sigh. She didn't want to waste food, especially since the slaves couldn't have much, and they were kind enough to share, but her stomach felt twisted. Asima gave Solum a tiny shrug, glancing away. Now to ask something that she'd need to tread around lightly, or risk letting Solum know what happened today. "So..." Asima started slowly, "I wouldn't have the same influence as before, with the people of Frodan, if I wasn't a princess, would I? Would that make Malum angry? Or at least be enough for him to cast me out of his harem earlier than planned?" |
Solum looked at her, "If you were no longer a princess? I suppose it may change a few things... you would be just like everyone else. If you wanted to keep helping, then I don't see Malum ha-" he stopped immediately as the sound of a horse riding through the village came to his ears. The slaves had gone, no one should be coming through here...
Asima's eyes widened slightly. Maybe she should have been more careful coming back, for that could only be Malum, who'd finally found them, or possibly Asima had gotten followed. She stood, quickly offering her hand for the male, "Hole?" She whispered, nodding towards the hiding spot. |
He stood but shook his head, "See who it is first" he replied in a whisper, moving towards the door cautiously.
"And risk getting caught?" Asima huffed slightly, though she obediently followed behind Solum. Hopefully he'd at least peek through a crack in the door, and not open the damn thing. She hovered around him, twiddling her fingers nervously. |
Solum did peer through the crack, but shortly after he opened the door and peered up and down the street before making his way out. Malum was climbing down from a horse, he looked as though he'd just been through hell though. His white hair was a terrible mess and covered with dirt, he was sweating a bit and breathing heavily, and he seemed a little unsteady on his feet.
Asima poked her head out, and, viewing Malum, dipped inside, retrieving her bowl. She brought it out to the male, offering it to him, unable to help but stare. She didn't bother with questions: Malum would tell her or wouldn't, she'd learned that in the time she'd spent in his company. |
