Jack nodded Jason on. Miranda wasn't heavy and with the injuries the girls had, it was a good idea to keep an eye on them. Catching up to the three, he gently sat Miranda down and glanced down the beach. Seeing Kae further on, he glanced back, "I'm going to check on Kae. You got these three?"

Jason nodded. "I've got them." He checked Shayera to find that she was sleeping, probably exhausted from the events of the evening. He touched Jessica's check, praying that she would be alright. She was fighter so that would help. He looked around them at the island. Who knew how far out of the shipping paths these islands were.

Jack turned and tiredly jogged over towards Kae. Reaching her, he looked down on her sleeping form. She looked exhausted. Gently he brushed her hair back so that he could check her pulse and monitor breathing. Going strong. She would be okay if there were no hidden injuries. However, she was a bit too close to the surf. If the tide rose, he worried she would get wet. He walked around, picking up the lounge chairs they had come in on and setting them up next to where Jason was at. Leaving him to transfer the other girls into those chairs, he went back and carefully picked Kae up. Turning, he started to walk back towards the group.

Jason lifted Miranda and the Shayera onto lounge chairs. He moved back to check on Jessica who was breathing, but still unconscious. He checked Shayera who was still sleeping. He looked up at the sky and the sun shinning down on them. They needed to find fresh water soon. They were probably all dehydrated from the experience and the sea water.

((If you go back to my post where they first reached the island, you will find a fresh water source.))
Leaving Kae to sleep with the others, he sat down tired. "Jason, I think I'm gonna crash. I've been trying not to black out for awhile now. You better get some rest too." He leaned backwards and stretched his neck. Just a little bit. That was all he needed. He settled on his back and let sleep overtake him. Exhaustion was a powerful motivator.

Shayera awoke to the sound of a crackling fire and gentle waves. Opening her eyes slowly, she saw the stars shining above her. She felt around and found that she was laying on a hard chair. Her mouth was sticky, dry from thirst. Where am I? She looked around, searching for something or someone familar. A few feet away was a campfire, sitting next to it were a figure she couldn't make out. Jason? She propped herself up on an elbow and tried to clear the cobwebs. Jessica! Shayera spun behind her and breathed a sigh of relief. Jessica was sleeping peacefully next to her, her shoulder all bandaged up. A growling noise sounded, signaling it was time to see if there was food. Shayera rose slowly to her feet, getting her barings, and headed for the warm fire.

(sorry I missed that Maiden. Never mind then)
Movement awoke Jason and he looked over to see Shayera stirring and making her way towards him. "How are you feeling?" He asked softly.
Jessica rolled over and pain shot through her body as she rolled onto her arm. She awoke with a scream, sitting up and cradling her arm. Looking around her in confusion, everything began to come back to her. The shipwreck, falling on a screw, jumping overboard and then blackness. She gingerly poked at her shoulder, feeling for the screw but it was gone.

Miranda woke up to the sound of a scream. Sitting upright with a gasp, she went alert and quickly took in Jessica holding her arm. She saw others had jumped much as she had, but her brain was still fuzzy enough to not process them as immediate threats. Instead, she felt herself calming her racing heart and processing her environment. "You okay?"

She was about to ask Jason if there was any drinking water when she heard Jessica's pain-filled scream. Shayera ran back, sensing Jason behind her. One of the other girls was also awake, asking Jessica if she was ok. Finally getting to her side, she just stood there. She definitely wasn't a medic and she didn't want to get in the way of those who were.

"I'm fine," she gasped. "I rolled onto my shoulder in my sleep." She shot reassuring smiles at the two girls and Jason. Her mouth was dry from thirst and her body ached. "Is there any water?"
Jason nodded. There is a small creek, he said helping Jessica to her feet. We should all go get a little water.

Jack rolled over slightly dizzy and confused. A scream and commotion. It wasn't part of his dream? Seeing everyone getting up, he glanced at Kae and saw she was still out. He checked her pulse and breathing to make sure she was still doing okay. Then he stretched. "I'll keep an eye on Kae. Miranda, you go with them."
Miranda nodded and slowly stood up. Shuffling through the sand, she followed Jason and Jessica. Before taking more than two steps, she looked over at Shayera and gave a small grin, "Since everyone else seems paired up, wanna come with me?"

Shayera looked up from the fire and nodded slowly. After seeing Jessica’s shoulder, the fear and pain of the day’s events came crashing back. Catching up with the other two, they followed Jason to the fresh water source. Shayera could only stare into space as they walked, her mind numb. Her senses caught the foreign sounds and smells of their little island. Animal calls from near and far as they hunted in the night, insects buzzing about, trees blowing in the slight cool breeze. She heard the faint sounds of whispering up ahead, almost as through a tunnel, most likely Jason and Jessica.

Miranda glanced sideways at the girl concerned. She was quiet and looked out of it. Almost with glazed eyes. Reaching the creek, she knelt between it and scooped a handful of the moonlit water to drink. The ocean itself had the moon's glow upon the crashing surf and waves further out. Tomorrow she should attempt her hands at weaving a basket or something to hold water.

Kaeori woke up sometime during the night, rolled over with her eyes still closed and reached for an alarm clock that wasn't even there. She paused for a moment before opening her eyes to find no roof over her head, no blanket strewn on the ground, or even a bed underneath her. She sat upright so quickly that the lawnchair tipped backwards with the added weight. She somersaulted backwards, landing unscathed, and snorted quietly to herself. Oh, right, they were stranded on an island. How could she forget? Kae dusted herself off and propped the lawn chair back up silently, trying to not wake anyone. She grabbed her medical supply kit out from under her chair, which had mysteriously moved away from shore while she was sleeping, and went in search of Jessica. Her shoulder would be killing her now, especially if she had slept on it accidently.

Jack groggily opened his eyes at the sound of someone falling over. Kae had finally woken up. The others weren't back from the water break, so he hadn't dozed too long. He struggled to his feet and jogged after Kae. "Hey Kae, wait up. Come back towards the fire. The others will be back in a minute. They went to the creek for some water." He hoped she didn't have hidden injuries. When he had carried her over, he had worried about causing her more pain. However she seemed to be walking okay, so everything must be alright. Despite the moonlight, it was hard to see her facial expression.

"Huh?" Kaeori stopped in her tracks and spun around to find Jack. "Oh. Okay.. Im sorry, I didn't mean to wake you." She walked back over to him, offering up the medical kit. "Are you hurt or anything? I was just going to find Jessica. I patched up her shoulder earlier, but the dressings might need to be changed by now." She sighed. Why did their ship, out of every single one in the entire world, have to crash? Jessica could have died just from blood loss, and some of the others were probably nursing their own injuries.

Jack thought that over slowly, "Well, she was in pain when she woke up but was walking okay. They went as a group so I am sure if something goes wrong, that they will say something. How are you doing?" He sat down next to her lawn chair and looked over at her in concern.

"Good. At least she'll be safe," Kaeori shrugged, "Im fine. I've been through worse than a couple cuts and bruises." She pulled up her sleeves to reveal several bruises and small cuts. "I was just thrown around a little when I went to go get the medical supplies. The glass might have cut me or something. It's no big deal." She smiled slightly.

He looked them over and grimly pointed out, "I bet those stung really want in the ocean. Salt in raw wounds hurt like none other. Do they need to be cleaned? I can help." He gave her a gentle smile. The girl was so independent.

"Um, well, if you want. I think we should save the bandages and alcohol for something more important, though. There's bound to be animals around here. What if someone gets hurt?" She shuddered just thinking about it. "It doesnt hurt that much, anyway. I'll be fine."

Kaeori followed suit and layed down as well. She tucked the medical supplies safely under her jacket. Soon, her mind drifted to home. It had only been a day or so since she left, but she missed it already. She missed being at the gym every day for hours, and coming home to cook dinner for her brother. She figured today was Wednesday or Thursday. She always cooked meatloaf on Wednesdays, no matter what. What would they do now for food? There was already a water source, and a shelter was easy to make, but what about food? Maybe there would be wild animals slow enough to spear, or berries and others fruits.

Jessica knelt to drink for the stream, scooping up water with her left hand. She heard a sound over the crashing of the waves and froze, not believe what she had heard. Then the sound came again, the neigh of a horse. She looked up as a black horse, thundered into sight across the stream. The horse slid to a halt at the sight of the humans, snorting. Jessica stared in awe, she had seen this horse before. For the past month, she had been having dreams of a horse like this.
As if in almost a trance, Jessica stood and waded through the stream, not even really conscious of the cold water. The stallion snorted nervously and backed up a step, his eyes focused on Jessica. She kept moving forward until, her hand about a foot from the stallion's noise, he reared hooves pawing the sky. Jessica fell back into the sand, trying to avoid the flying hooves. Her bad shoulder hit the ground as the stallion whirled and disappeared into the night at a gallop. Jessica cried out in pain and rolled onto her back, her left hand cradling the wound.

Miranda jumped across the creek to Jessica's side. Angry at her impulsive behavior and worried about her wound, she yelled, "Are you insane? That was a wild stallion! They can have tempers. Fight or flight... what if he had chosen fight?" Glancing up at Jason, she demanded, "Get some sense into her."

Jason leaped across the stream too and knelt by Jessica's side. "I have to agree with Miranda on this one Jessie. What were you thinking?"
Jessica shook them off and got to her feet. She wasn't about to tell them about her dreams or the connection she had felt to the stallion. "Temporary lapse in judgement," Jessica answered, leaping back across the creek and walking back towards the fire. She kept her hand over the bandage so no one could see if it was bleeding. Why did I do that? She wondered, shaking her head.
