Rainbow raised an eyebrow at the strange man's stranger diet. Weirdos, man. Not that her food was much healthier, but really! Yeesh. She watched the blob suck up the weird vial-full of food-ish stuff. Apparently, he didn't like it much as he chased after his creator hungrily. "Oi! Wilmer! You dumb blob!" she yelled after him. Although she wasn't entirely positive, she had a good idea that she could probably escape that thing easier than that poor nerd could. The stupid thing kept going, though, and paid her no mind. Being ignored was the thing that angered her the most, and she growled slightly.
Her boots clopped loudly on the asphalt as she ran-- no, sprinted-- after them. It wasn't long before she caught up, running next to the blob's unlucky creator. "So how do you KILL this stupid thing!?" she asked him, her voice laced by mild irritation. The others were probably eating pizza or something right now, completely unaware of the stupid evil giant blob-monster-thing trying to eat them. Sweat trickled down the side of her face, and her bangs were starting to stick. With each step, she became increasingly aware of how heavy those boots were, and she began to unconsciously slow down. Great, so maybe she wasn't going to be able to out run it as easily as she thought she was. At least she hadn't thrown a rock at it or anything. Her breathing was becoming ragged and her legs sore and heavy. A shooting pain raced up her side. She gasped and hissed in pain, gripping the spot that hurt and trying to keep running. It was then, in the most cliche moment ever, that she tripped over a large crack in the asphalt. A tree root had grown too close to the surface and broken through, sending Rainbow flying. She skidded forward, a large scrape pulling off a lot of skin on her arms and tearing holes in the knees of her pants. "Shit!" she yelped, trying to scramble back to her feet. Blood seeped out of her arms and knees, and stung royally with all of the small rocks embedded in them. Just as she started to run again, she was swallowed up by the blob. Goop seeped into her nose and mouth, and as she tried to scream and fight her way out, some worked it's way into her lungs and her stomach. She struggled around inside for a minute, being turned and thrown around with every movement Wilmer made. Finally, she just curled up in a ball as best she could, trying to protect herself from the various debris being sucked up as well. |
Randy whispered to the little girl clinging to her to just play along with the stupid man, still not quite ready to enter into the situation herself, Skyler seemed to have it under control, until Rowen exploded. Alright, time to step in. She moved one arm away from the little girl clinging to her, and it felt heavy to put it on Rowen's shoulder to bring him back to earth.
"You really should learn how to be more considerate of other people's feelings," said Randy looking at Melvin, "I've yet to meet someone who took kindly to being told they should be on a leash, unless they're into the whole s and m sort of thing, in which case I don't want to know anyway, "she forced a smile then, but, even after Mary having healed her up some, she was still in rough shape. She was just sore, to put it simply. She hurt all over, muscles she didn't even know she had ached, and the remaining cuts and scrapes stung like a bitch. But, there was no rest for the weary. "Now, say you're sorry so we can go find the killer goo running around." Speaking of Wilmer, Henry let out a girlish sort of yelp as he saw Rainbow get swallowed. Now, being a mad scientist had it's perks, such as toys. Or in this case, a pen sized object that could be used as an anchor. He hooked it to his belt, and pointed the other end at the ground, launching the spiked end in before he ran forward, right into Wilmer, grabbed the girl around the waist, and pressed the button that yanked them both out of the goo. "Heat," he panted, rummaging through his pockets for his portable laser. He had initially made it for when he was working on smaller robotics, which was often, which was why he thought he had it on him. "High heat will cause the water in him to evaporate, which turns him into this crusty mass, which will just crumble, and you can't just moisten him up again after. I've tried..." He was starting to panic, his laser was no where to be found, and it was hard to run away from a goo with a battered girl over your shoulder, and if he couldn't turn around and laser it... This was going to end badly, wasn't it? |
Randy ruffled Melvin's metaphorical feathers with her scathing comment. "Oh really? People take offense to being told they should be on a leash? Well I take offense to having my cellphone smashed by this brute." He wanted to point imperiously at the boy still over the half mangled corpse, but Mary's weight in his arms held him back. "You owe me another one by the way!" He growled at Rowen, glaring at him through his violet shades. He needed to get Mary into bed so she could recover conciousness in a stress-free environment. This need was causing him to shift restlessly, his body was itchin' to get a move on. Something held him back from just walking away, but he didnt understand why. They didnt need him there right? Killer goo was something from stories it wasnt real.

[Julia]
The girl disliked the male already, not only had he made an apparent lie stright to her face, or so she thought but his attitude made her pull a face at him, though when he tried to justify his insult to Rowen she wanted to go at him, but instead clung to Randy, simply shouting, as kids do, but with a wiser-than-her-years quote, "Two wrongs dont make a right, you lying, nasty, sunglasses-wearing freak-man!!" She stuck out her tongue and hid behind Randy, clinging to her still tight as ever. [A new challenger approaches!] "Hey, Slimeball!" Some-one called, he wasn't stood too far away, though the darkness covered him, hiding him mostly, save for the glow of light off his furred collar and sleeve-ends. He didnt care if the creature got his attention but there was a clang and the sound of metal dropping away as a black steel baton broke a valve from a nearby pipe, this was quickly followed by a hissing sound as gas freely poured from the open wound of the pipe, best do this quicky. The man leaped up onto a nearby dumpster, through a steel lighter that he flicked open in the direction of the pipe, the flame igniting a blast of fire aimed directly for the creature while the young man leapt away further, jumping around the scene quickly and quickly placing his arms around Henry and Rainbow's waists, hoisting them up onto his shoulders and leaping away from the outreaching blast, far enough to escape it, the gas reserves would be cut off soon anyway. Upon landing he would stop, let them go and turn to look at the result of his work, before looking over his shoulder to Rainbow, "Hey, Elizabeth! What in the heck were you thinking?? I wont be around forever you know, dont get yourself in so much trouble...!" He ran past them suddenly, almost as quickly as he'd appeared; he was leaving. |
Rowen simply rolled his eyes as Melvin began to rant about his cellphone.
"Why should I buy you a new one? Can't you fix yours? I'm sure you're smart enough to put it back together," he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm before he began to walk off. The demon stopped before quickly turning around, "Um, Randy, just stay there for now, okay? I don't want you walking around with a little kid to take care of with some giant blob thing on the loose." Then with that, he took his leave. However, his tail swayed with agitation. He tried to get his mind off his annoyances with the task of finding Rainbow. The demon could admit that not having seen the girl with the others bothered him, so to settle his doubts, he would find his friend himself. {blaghshort}} |
As Henry explained the only way to destroy the stupid blob, Rainbow doubled over at the waist and began to puke, cough, and sneeze up goo. Straightening, she looked him in the eye. "Thanks for saving me," she said seriously, wrapping her arms tightly around his shoulders in a hug. They were both coated in slime, so she didn't see it making any difference. The blob seemed to be preoccupied with something else anyway. Quickly, she released him and had been just about to run when a stranger's voice called out.
"Hey, Slimeball!" the source of the voice was a man, hidden in the shadows. He broke a pipe, then set the blob on fire, whisking her and Wilmer's creator away. Just as she'd been about to thank him as well, he called her 'Elizabeth'. How could he.... how could he have known....!? How was that possible?! She'd erased everything of her past, hadn't she?! And even if she hadn't... How had he recognized her!? As the mysterious stranger disappeared, Rainbow-- Elizabeth-- dropped to her bloodied knees. Her eyes widened and stared up at the sky blankly, tears welling up in them, then racing down her cheeks. They patted to the ground quietly, mixing with the blood from her scrapes that was dripping down from her arms. How could... how could he have known......? Who was he?! With just the mention of her name, she was suddenly ripped into a flashback. Not the reminiscent kind-- oh, no-- she was yanked full-force into an acid-trip flashback. All around her, the world began to change. Walls began to swirl and colors blend. Even Henry, the guy who'd saved her, started to change. Sounds, tastes, and smells took the forms of shapes and colors. For example: her salty sweat and tears that found their way into her mouth tasted purple. Immediately, she realized what had happened, and started to sob loudly. She crumpled up in a ball on the ground. "Save me!!!!!" she screamed to no one in particular, twitching slightly. |
So much for playing along, "Hey," said Randy to Julia, "play nice or no dessert," it was such an automatic response from her, she was so used to saying it to the others, that it took her a second to realize she was talking to a child, not just someone who may as well been one. It almost made her laugh. Well, no one could ever accuse her of talking down to children, she spoke to them the same way she did adults apparently. "Name calling isn't nice," she said after, sounding a little unnatural playing Mother when she realized that it was a little girl clinging to her, not Law in a dress... Where was the demon, anyway? Rowen hadn't said anything about him being injured, which, meant he was probably fine, but, he had such a habit of getting into trouble, she couldn't help but wonder... And now she was the one being told to stay behind. This seemed backwards...
She glanced at Melvin, who was probably about ready to storm off, tuck his girlfriend into bed, and watch Buffy. Rowen was right, she probably should stick around the void when she was as wiped as she was and had a little girl clinging to her. "If you want, you can tuck her in at the apartment, it's just a few blocks that way, and for some reason keeping these two," referring to Julia and Mary, "out here seems like a bad idea," she glanced at Skyler, not sure if the harpy would want to go help Rowen or not. She posed the question with that glance, trusting her enough to let her wander off without orders or a mission statement, she knew the other woman could take care of things on her own. Henry, meanwhile, was in shock. Giant explosions, Wilmer was dead, and some random guy swooping in to save him and this girl (Elizabeth, that was her name, right?) and then her collapsing. And he had gotten a hug. From a girl. Who wasn't related to him. Had he been a girl, he may have been less freaked out by the crying (and probably a little starry eyed about his rescue) but he stood there, completely clueless looking around for help. At her cry of help though, he dropped down to his knees next to her, put a hand on her back and said "What can I do? How can I help? I'm here, what do you need?" Henry may have been a clueless mad scientist, but, he was a decent guy, and when some girl was on the ground yelling save me, damn it, he would try. |
Rowen meanwhile was stomping off in the direction of Rainbow and Henry, following the trail of destruction that the giant goo had left behind.
"I'll put him on a leash," he muttered darkly. He couldn't understand why Melvin's words had upset him so and it made him frustrated. Perhaps, it was because the man's words were true. Rowen really was like a dog on a leash and if he ever pissed on the carpet he'd get a swat on the nose, except that the swat on the nose would be a death sentence. Randy had managed to pull him away from that fate once, but he was sure it couldn't be accomplished twice. Now, he had guidelines to follow and if he broke any and if the higher ups would find out then he would be royally screwed. Rowen didn't want to admit it, but he was on a short leash. Even after the months he had spent with the sect he still felt like he was being smothered. He longed for his old reckless life, but thankfully he knew better. The young demon was pulled out of his thoughts as his eye began to pulse again and he quietly growled, becoming suddenly worried. Maybe some of the runes were waring off? He shook away the thought of the curse becoming stronger, he had just been angry and it had brought out the more aggressive side of the curse. Or so he hoped. His pointed ears suddenly raised as Rainbow's cry ripped through the quiet night air. Rowen's heart skipped a beat in horror as his legs instinctively broke out into a run. Clawed feet tore through the grass before he finally saw a pair of figures standing ahead of him in a wide clearing. As usual the light demon's mind jumped to conclusions and he lashed out at the man with words, "Get the hell away from her!" He snarled. The teen collapsed down next to her and his pale arms wrapped around her middle and held her tightly to try and make the woman's shaking cease. "Rainbow, you need to calm down," he said quietly next to her ear, being careful not to startle her, "this is Rowen, I'm here now, I'll protect you. You'll be fine." His wings flared out protectively as he was careful not to hug her too hard and to keep his claws tucked away. "Come on, Skittles, snap out of it," he said with a soft laugh, "no need to panic, I'm here." {{WAAAA CHEESY}} |
{[D'aaaaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwweeeeeeee~
-Squishes Rowen violently.- SO CUTE! x3333333]} Rainbow twitched in terror on the ground, legs thrashing violently and eyes clamped tight against the terrors that she knew she would see if she opened them. That didn't change the fact that there were terrors even on the inside of her eyelids as well. She knew there would be. Her hands tugged at her hair and tears streamed from her eyes. She hated these, so much! She knew they weren't real, yet they terrified her so badly. Suddenly, a voice cut through the darkness. "What can I do? How can I help? I'm here, what do you need?" She recognized it as the first man who had saved her, and felt his hand gently touch her back. The fact that she recognized the touch for what it was was already a good sign that maybe it was starting to fade. Luckily, this one seemed to be one of the shorter ones. She started to let one of her eyes slide open slightly, when an even more familiar voice roared from farther away. "Get the hell away from her!" Clawing footsteps dashed towards her, steadily growing louder as they came closer, then were punctuated by the sound of their owner dropping down next to her. Arms gently snaked around her waist and Rowen's soothing voice cooed her into calmness. Her shaking ceased, and her legs stopped thrashing. "Rainbow, you need to calm down," his voice was relaxing, and she felt the illusions of her flashback fade away as she let her eyes open further, not that he would know. She was turned slightly away from him, and her bangs were in her eyes. Her hands fell limply next to her. "This is Rowen, I'm here now, I'll protect you. You'll be fine." 'No shit, Sherlock...' she wanted to say, but couldn't work up the energy or willpower to do so. She just laid there, panting slightly and sweating profusely. Her tears were the last things to stop flowing, and she worked up the energy to shoot the demon holding her a weak dirty look as he called her 'Skittles'. "How... many times.... Have I told you.... not to call... me that....?" she asked with a grin, wiping sweat from her brow. It was over already. She was just so glad that it was over. Flashbacks like hers could sometimes last for hours, and hers barely lasted a few minutes. "Thank gawd it's over....." she mumbled, leaning her head weakly against Rowen's chest. |
Julia looked up whens he was addressed by the lady, when told to play nice she immediately lowered her head and clung closer or atleast as close as she possibly could, for a momentt hough she'd forgotten just what happened, but replacing fear and terror with anger wouldnt solve anything.
The girl looked up to Randy tugging at her shirt gently, her sakes were mostly gone, maybe just the cold was all that was bothering her now, but she didnt care all too much. right now she just wanted alittle attention, before quietly announcing, "My name is Julia... Ma'am... And that man... He... H-he..!" Unable to finish her sentence she burried her face in Randy's shirt yet again, a small sob escaping her, thinking of that moment was just upsetting her again, "He killed them..! Mama and papa...!!" |
<<(D'aw no one luffs Melvin. XD 'cept Mary... maybe...)>>
Melvin, who had watched helplessly his grandmother inadvertantly killed herself, felt a sudden kinship with this small crying girl. He set Mary down gently on the grass so he could place a comforting hand on the little girl's shoulder. "You're safe little one go ahead and cry it out." Melvin said softly not getting too close incase she wanted space, but not going too far away incase she needed comfort. "Miss Randy, I think we ought to get her away from the.. Scene." He stalled at the last part when he looked over at the grisly body of the man. Melvin shivered a bit, getting the heeby-jeebies from so much blood and gore. Buffy was never this explicit with their gore. He knelt down to pick Mary up again, this time shifting her onto his back so her weight would be easier to carry. She mumbled something about skittles and rainbows before settling back into silence. "I dont quite remember where your apartment is so one of you will have to lead the way." He looked from Skyler to Randy to see who would take point. |
Randy scopped the girl up, ignoring the protest of her joints and held her up to her shoulder, stroking her hair with one hand, "he's gone now Julia," she said softly to the girl, "and I'll take care of you, you'll be fine," she wasn't sure if that was true. Well, she would take care of the kid, she knew that she just had to. Unless someone else who the kid liked better who could take much better care of her (which was likely) popped up, she'd take care of her. She nodded to Melvin and jerked her head in the direction of the apartment, before heading twoards it, carrying Julia and still petting the girl, letting her hide her face in the crook of her neck.
"My name is Randy, by the way," she said to the little girl. She had no idea what to say or do, or what she had just gotten herself into, but, she babysat a bunch of critters, how bad could it be taking care of a child compared to Rowen? She made it upstairs using mostly her hips and two smallest fingers on her left hand to get doors and such, and opened a drawer in the desk in her room with those two fingers and got a set of keys, and walked back out, handing them to Melvin, "Door right across the hall, I'm sort of the landlord of the building, it's empty and sparsley furnished, but, there's a bed and it's clean." Henry had been sent flying backwards by Rowen, stopped by a tree, and sat there awkwardly. Clearly his help wasn't wanted, but, he wasn't willing to just leave this girl. He wanted to make sure she was okay... Completely unphased by the fact he had just been swatted several feet by a demon which was now sitting infront of him, he timidly asked, "Uhm, miss, a-are you alright?" Demons Henry could handel. Killer goo, Henry could handel. Girls? He was clueless. |
Julia made a small squeak at being lifted so suddenly, mostly because she hadn't expected it, but as she was held her smaller frame relaxed a bit, arms instinctively going around Randy's neck as she did indeed press her head in gently against the neck area and effectively fell asleep. Out like a light, after all the action, terror and tears she was exhausted, no longer able to keep up the pace like the others.
Law leapt from building to building, keeping sure to avoid cameras and the eyes of those nearby, it was time to go home and the breeze caught his long-coat, ruffling it in the wind whilst he proceeded from rooftop to rooftop in single bounds, this had always been good exercise, and a recent game with some friends he'd made had been pretty profitable. It wasnt long before he landed upon the roof of the apartment where they all stayed, leaning over the edge, a foot upon the short fence as he watched Randy and a smaller group enter the home, one was that head-ache inducing freak guy who didnt believe in magic, and he was holding a woman he didnt recognise, as for Randy... the sight almost made him fall off, literally. He placed his hands on the wall to stop himself and looked close as he could from way up there. Was Randy holding a child? The smell of recent blood and much was in the air too. What in the Blue Hell had he missed?! |
Melvin juggled Mary around till he could stick out a few fingers to accept the key. Melvin was tired, he was still damp, and he smelled like the smelly dregs of the city sewers. All in all it was a reasonably productive day. Melvin dropped his coat and Mary's backpack into the corner before stripping Mary and himself down to their underoos. He started the shower leaving Mary beside the bathtub while he went to fetch shampoo and soap from her backpack. After all the misadventures they had been through together there were somethings they carried around as bare essentials.
Mary had thought that she would never get that giant bee's wax out of her hair the time they went to the Amazon Jungle. They didnt find the Aztec ghosts they were looking for, but there was definitely some sites to see. Melvin shook himself out of his reminiscing, he needed to focus not dawdle over the past. He found a bar of pink lemonade scented soap and strawberry all-in-one shampoo-conditioner. 'Great' he thought with a heavy heart. 'I'm going to smell like a fruit salad.' He returned and set to rinsing off his poor little Mary before stepping in and scrubbing himself down. When they were both dry (and in a change of clothes) Melvin tucked Mary into bed. He knelt beside it holding a small vigil while he waited for her to wake up. "Wake up Sleeping beauty." he whispered in her ear, but she slept on. |
Rainbow turned her head slightly towards the young man who had saved her before. "Uhm, miss, a-are you alright?" She smiled and lifted herself up a little.
"Yes, thank you very much. I owe you my life... And I don't even know your name. I'm Rainbow... And this lug behind me is Rowen," she teased the demon, grinning at him over her shoulder before returning her blue-green gaze back on the bespectacled man before her. Her smile softened and she reached out, gently rubbing a patch of dirt off of his cheek. Even as she did this, a slight blush materialized on her own slightly-freckled cheeks. She took a deep breath, deciding that she was strong enough, and removed her hand from his face, placing it on the ground and pushing herself into an up-right sitting position. Her vision spun for a moment, since she'd moved so quickly, but she felt better within seconds. She blinked once or twice until her vision cleared completely, then smiled. |
Once Melvin left, and Randy realized that the little girl in her arms had fallen asleep, she sat down at the end of her own bed for a while, still holding the child. Well, she was asleep. That was good. Eventually she changed the girl from her blood splattered clothes into a shirt that came down past her knees. It was a one of Randy's night shirts, and it was the type of thing they always show women wearing after a crazy night of sex. After having that pointed out to her, she generally didn't wear it. Once the girl was tucked in, and didn't whimper when Randy went out of the room before she peeled her sludge soaked jacket, shirt, boots, and pants before looking at herself in front of the mirror in the bathroom (having left the door open so she could hear Julia). She was battered, which she knew she would be, but, it didn't look like anything would scar. Well, that was good. Water was going to feel like acid, though. Sigh.
She wandered into the shower before dropping her under garments (she wasn't getting all naked out in the open, just in case) before turning on the water. She stayed in the shower a while, afraid to move too much too quickly. That didn't end so well in the end for her when she climbed out of the shower, lost her balance, and fell forward, ripping the shower curtain off of the rod and knocking the medicine cabinet off of the wall as she went down. She hit the ground hard, and sighed. She seriously contemplated going to bed right there on the ground where she was. She really didn't want to move. But, someone may come in from the racket she made on her way down, and, she didn't particularly want anyone to see her naked. Moving it was, then. Henry turned an interesting shade of scarlet as Rainbow touched him, and said "M-my name is Henry, n-nice to meet you both... And you're welcome," the last part was added on shyly. It's not like she hadn't gotten eaten by Wilmer trying to protect him, and Wilmer was his creation. The things he tried to eat were therefore his responsibility to take care of. That had been about the extent of his thought process at the time. Now, his brain was all frozen up and shocked. Seeing his own creation be burnt to a crisp alone was enough to create that response... Although he felt a lot less depressed over it when a shred of remaining Wilmer blobbed over and oozed up onto his leg before just bouncing on his thigh, "oh, sure, now you try to be all cute and nice. After you nearly kill me and Rainbow. You should be ashamed of yourself," Wilmer sort of flattened out, "aw, I'm sorry Wilmer, but, really, no more miracle grow, okay?" the goo drew it's self up happily and Henry smiled, "see? Wilmer really isn't usually totally evil and nuts. The miracle grow just... Confused it." He said, defending his creation. |
In spite of haivng her clothes changed, being put to bed and even Randy leaving her alone, Julia made little to no sound, and her exhaustion had kept her ears from registering the sound of randy crashing to the floor, but in her dreams it was instead resounded as gunfire as she watched those awful scenes again, over and over.
As for Randy's well-being and whomever was to come to her aid, a hand camed down, gripping Randy's and slowly rising, Law was there, his eyes closed, not tight but it seemed almost as if he were in deep thought and this act was something his body was doing seperately. "The kid's cute, where'd she come from?" He muttered quietly, "You better take it easy too, looks like you both had a rough night." The demon added, he wouldnt open his eyes, though he was expecting Randy to freak out without looking to his eyes anyway, so whater she had to throw at him she probably was welcome to do so. |
"Well, it's nice to meet you too, Henry." Rainbow smiled. She was still a little unsteady, and wobbled slightly. Without really thinking about it, she clung lightly to Henry for support. "Oh, sorry!" she squeaked and quickly withdrew her hands, placing them on the ground to better steady herself. She watched the newer, smaller blob come over and interact with Henry, and couldn't resist smiling. It was a cute scene, one had to admit. All weirdness aside, of course. "He's cute when he's tiny and not trying to kill me," she told him, reaching out hesitantly to pet the cute blob. It flinched and she assumed that she'd startled it, and was startled herself, quickly recoiling her hand and using it to steady herself again, as she had begun to wobble.
Glancing down at her hands, which, like the rest of her body, were still pale from the flashback, she noticed that her nail-polish was chipped off almost completely. And that her arms were still bleeding pretty bad. "Shit," she hissed, glancing up at Henry and Rowen. "One of you guys wouldn't happen to have bandages or something, would you?" Upon noticing the wounds, including the ones on her knees, their pain began to return. Stinging sensations ran up her arms, and she felt herself tearing up simply from the force of them. She was so preoccupied by the pain that she didn't even notice the auras emanating from the two males she sat near. |
|
Wilmer retreated behind Henry as he half lunged forward to put a hand on Rainbow's shoulder to steady her. Band-Aids? "Wilmer, check for me, will you?" the goo seemed to be a lot smarter in it's smaller form as it oozed through his jacket, into his pocket, then the next before he started to wiggle the pocket. "Oh, he found something," Henry reached into his pocket, taking the single band aid offered up by Wilmer. "Well, this won't help... I-is there a hospital near by? Or, uhm, the house of someone you know who has a first aid kit... Or a drug store... Or, well, some sort of drinking fountain to rinse those out with... Wilmer, do I have a water bottle on me?" the goo oozed through his pockets before ending up on the ground bobbing up and down. Which apparently meant no in goo, "damn... I guess not."
Randy wasn't sure if she should boot him in the nards, thank him, or try to grab the shower curtain. He was standing there, with his eyes closed, holding her hand. "Her name is Julia," said Randy grabbing the near by towel and wrapping it tightly around herself, holding it to her body still more out of habit. "She sort of appeared with a flash, with some goon attached, said goon is now dead, along with her parents, apparently, and she just latched onto me and started crying. So, be nice to her. And don't worry about me. I've been through much rougher nights," it was nearly morning by that point, mind you. She walked out of the bathroom to go to her room to grab clothes, and noticed the fairy stumbling around. "I forgot about you," she said stopping to look at the fairy, "are you alright? You sort of vanished on us," she kept going into her own room, grabbing clean night clothes and pulling them on before dropping the towel and walking back into the kitchen area. "And Law, if you haven't yet, you can open your eyes now." ((Short, but, it’s three am, so, shut up)) |
|
Feeling Henry's steady hand on her shoulder, Rainbow's blush grew a little. She couldn't help but giggle quietly as she watched Wilmer bob in and out of Henry's coat and pockets, and, relying partly on Henry to help her stay steady, reached out more cautiously and slowly to pet the blob. It waited warily, but when her hand was near enough to almost touch it, it stretched out towards her hand, much like a cat will arch it's back to be petted.
A small squeak escaped her mouth at how strange it felt on her hand, and she chomped down on her lip afterward for emitting such an embarrassing sound. After gently stroking the blob for a minute or two, she pulled her hand back and regained her balance as best she could before attempting to stand. "We should just go back to the apartment. I'm sure Randy and the others are wondering where the hell we are, huh Rowen?" she asked the demon. "And I know we have some first aid over there. Damn root," she grumbled slightly under her breath, glaring over at the place in the asphalt a few feet away where the root had formed the large crack that she'd tripped over, causing her injuries. "Of course, Randy's going to call me a clutz... Meh!" she snorted, then grinned. Randy was a mother-like figure to her, a mother or a very possessive older sister, which she never had. That's why she clung on to her teammates like she did: they replaced the family that she'd lost. "Anyway," she said shakily, matching her balance at the time as she slowly straightened herself out, "We should probably get moving. Onward to home!" She cheered and thrust her hand out in the direction of home, then almost fell over. "Ack!!" This was going to be interesting...... In a sucky way. |
Rowen blushed slightly as Rainbow leaned against him but it soon faded as she reached out to Henry. He felt a small pang of jealously but shook it off as something he didn't quite understand. He carefully pulled his arms away from her and lightly gripped her arms as she nearly fell over,
"There is no way in hell am I letting you walk back to the sect by yourself," he said with a small sigh as he simply picked Rainbow up. The demon was sure he wasn't touching anything sensitive as he gently cradled her. Rowen looked Henry over, noting that both him and Rainbow were covered in goo. Rowen would thank the man later. He gazed down at the woman in his arms before seeming thoughtful, "I could heal you or I have some spare bandages around my legs you could use." He offered. {blagh short}} |
Law opened his eyes when instructed, turning the light off in the bathroom and walked quietly past the little girl, stopping for a moment to inspect her from where he stood. The smell of blood stil omited from her, or atleast his senses as a demon could still taste it in the air, the curious story as to what happened also made him frown, thats alot to put on a child.
He followed Randy to the kitchen, laying down a wad of cash upon the counter and smiling, this should cover some repairs and supplies for the apartments, "Rowen and I were forced to act and had to entert he warehouse, no fatalaties were produced, and a major ring of prostitution, drugs and guns has probably been broken up due to our actions, as for the remainders, the vast majority is probably being hunted down by the police thanks to an 'anonymous' tip." He reported with a calm look taking over his face, "Rowen also saved several innocent girls and young women who were about to be forced into prostitution, but thanks to his efforts they were also released and reccomended for rehabilitation and crisis centers. As for raiding the warehouse that was my idea and I take full responsibility for attacking." |
Skyler had just stood there as things unfolded too quickly for her to respond, normally she would have defended Rowen and tried to mediate the problems out but he had stormed off in search of Rainbow. A pang of guilt hit her as she remembered that she had flown off leaving Rain alone in the park, she was ready to run into the dark when she felt her wings. Panic hit her, here she was, alone in the street, with her wings and talons out and showing for all to see. Wings shot out and feathers ruffled and fell, she had to calm herself, and began to talk to herself. Last time she was caught out it was terror, one of many situations she had fallen into. She was toted around as a sideshow and her feathers had been plucked painfully from her wings. She just mumbled to herself of all the happy times she had spent with Randy, Rowen, Law and Rain. Slowly her heart returned to her chest and slowed down to a normal pace.
Boot steps fell heavily on the paved street, panic crept into the harpy’s throat again. She began to run as the steps rang out, her wings practically fell like broken toys and dragged on the ground as she held the look and outward appearance of a crazy homeless woman. Hopefully her talons were hidden at the moment she couldn’t change those. Skyler ducked into an alley and tossed trash about loudly talking. “Those govenmunts dint want usuns to knows about what I knows. And I knows, they dint want usuns to knows. I dint like cat food yesterday?” Out of the corner of her eye she saw a wealthy businessman walk by, he looked perturbed. He held several magazines, some which looked like they were still in progress of being written. His heavy foot steps along with his demeanor relayed his emotions, which seemed to be a mix of anger and exuberation. His face looked as if it had never truly expressed joy, and his hat had a no nonsense look about it. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small black phone. He mumbled something that Skyler had to strain to hear. “That Melvin, lousy nerve, decent reporter, but I can’t handle him like the others. Something about him can’t figure it out. Oh well. He better have something for me.” He began to hit buttons on the electronic, not caring for the time of day, or night for that matter. Business was business. Skyler ran down the alley and took all the back routes she knew to get home. The back door was locked, or rather the door wasn’t in existence at the moment. So she simply took the great effort to lift herself to her window which she opened and toppled into noisily. She sqauked in pain as her wings hit the sill and a post. She was safe for the moment, but trouble was afoot, trouble that she wanted nothing to do with. |
