"Not Henna McLaughlin, Bernie," Idox gasped. "I'm here for my childhood friend, Henna Rose." He bolted past Bernie into Henna's room and threw his arms around his friend. "I'm sorry," he said. "But I can't just wait alone while I wait for the old you to come back."
Bernie's eyes widen as the man cried out that he knew Henna's real identity and stormed past her. She followed him, running after him to Henna's room.
Henna, startled and confused by Idox's sudden entry, pushed away from him for a second. She stared at him with wide eyes. "Idox?" she whispered. "W-What's wrong?!" |
"I don't know," Idox said. "But whatever it is, it's not going to fix itself if I'm alone." He looked her in the eyes, and without a clue what the hell he was doing, pressed his lips against hers.
Henna didn't kiss back, nor did she pull awayt, she just sat there in shock.
Idox pulled away slowly. "I'm sorry," he said, sitting down on the bed. "I'm being an idiot."
Henna watched Idox with caring eyes.
"Idox, what's wrong?" she asked, watching him. "Why do you want Henna Rose back so much!?" |
Idox sighed. "Because I loved Henna Rose," he admitted. "Why do you think I became so traumatized seeing you kill? It's not because I was different, it's because I saw the one I loved kill someone."
Henna looked at Idox in horror. Not because of his confession of love, but because she'd hurt him worse then she had first believed. Tears came to the rims of her lids. She threw her arms around Idox, now sobbing.
"I'm sorry, Idox!" cried Henna. |
Idox breathed a sigh of relief. "I'm sorry," he said, softly, fighting back gentle tears.
Henna nodded. "Idox, I'm sorry Henna Rose hurt you!"
"No," Idox said. "You hurt me. No matter what alias you throw on, you're still Henna Rose. And you always will be, until the day you die."
Henna grimaced at this. He was right. "I wish Henna Rose would just disappear, all the things she did would vanish with her!"
"No," Idox said. "If Henna Rose disappeared, then I'd lose the person I love. And you'd disappear, since you ARE Henna Rose."
"Maybe it's better that way!" Henna screamed. "Maybe it's better if I didn't exist! Then that boy would still be alive and you wouldn't be so hurt!"
"The only thing that hurts me is that you refuse to accept who you are, what you did, and live with it."
"I hurt someone, Idox!" she cried. "I killed someone! How can I ever be happy with that always following me!?"
"Because you still have your friends, and the people who love you," he said, and kissed her again.
Henna let Idox kiss her, before she pulled away. "But no one here loves Henna Rose, they love Henna McLaughlin. These people, my friends, they all love Henna McLaughlin... how can you love Henna Rose!?"
"I don't have an explanation," Idox said, simply. "I loved you as a child, and I love you now."
More tears escaped Henna's eyes. "Hate me!" she screamed. "Hate me, alright. I can't stand what I did. I can't stand that I hurt you, so hate me!"
Idox was a bit stunned at this. He got up and walked into the kitchen, poured a glass of water, and brought it back to Henna. "Drink," he said firmly. "You need to relax a little."
He sat back down on the bed. "I don't think it's possible for me to hate you. Ever." |
Henna, held the glass of water, shaking. "Why would you love me!?" she cried. "I've destoryed some many lives! You should hate me!"
"I should," Idox said, laughing. "But it's not my choice who I love. I just love you."
Henna dropped the glass, letting it shatter at her feet. She watched the water leak away from the shards of glass.
"I'm Henna Rose, I am also Henna McLaughlin and I can't be both. I want to be both, though" she whispered. |
Idox stood up and put his hands on her shoulders. "No, you want to be Henna Rose, but you don't want people to hate you," he said, smiling.
