"Amber," she began. "Idox is going to do something... to help Henna Rose and I'm afriad it's going to be dangerous... what do I do!?"
"I don't know." Amber said soundign worrried. she bit ehr lip. |
"I just thought--" she started. What had she thought? That Amber would know what to do!?
"Thought what?" Amber asked curiously. |
"I don't even know!" Henna shouted.
Idox hit a roadblock. It should have worked. What was going on? He examined his arm with the device attached. It fit perfectly, keeping his arm fully supported. But it wasn't doing what he wanted? Why? He looked carefully all around it, then laughed at his mistake. He had spent so much time working on it that he hadn't put in the needle. He looked at the diagram of the nervous system he had printed as he walked into the hallway and into the lab. He grabbed a thin needle, making sure it was a conductor. He slid the needle into his skin, right around his elbow, hitting the nerve commonly known as the funny bone. Slowly reattaching the device, he felt the power run through his right arm. It was working. He walked out back and took a full examination of the device. It was series of metal plates on his hands, each an electromagnet. Linked to a series of metal discs and pipes on his arm, the needle in his nerves synchronized the frequency of electricity of his body with the rest of the device. It then increased its own voltage with a generator, making his arm stronger. He walked over to the basketball court in the park, which was empty as usual. He grabbed the pole of the hoop and pulled. It took some effort, but he managed to bend it a few feet. He smirked. Running back to his house, he put on a pair of gloves and rolled down his sleeve over the device. Running to Henna's house, he went over to her room window and knocked.
Hearing the knock on her window, Henna dropped her phone, and scurried to open the window. Finding Idox there.
"Idox!?" she gasped. |
He laughed. "The 'watch the news' thing was just a distraction," he chuckled. "Sorry to worry you. Still, if there's any way I can help you, as Henna Rose or Henna McLaughlin, I want to help in any way I can," he said, smiling. "So I invented this." He lifted up his arm with the device attached. He put it on the sill of the open window and pushed. With his one arm, he hoisted himself on top of it, and into the room. "You've heard of those devices that are full-body strength enhancers?" he asked. "This one works only for the arm, but it works enough."
Henna's eyes widen as she stared at the contraption on Idox's arm. It was so strange.
"Idox... What are you going to to do with that thing!?" she cried. |
Idox's face became hardened. "I'm not going to go around killing people, if that's what you're thinking," he said. "I'm just going to stop anyone who tries to hurt you."
Henna sighed. "I didn't think that," she stated. "I was worried about you doing something that might harm yourself!"
"Just about all me resources at the moment went into this. I now only have enough money for the necessities of life. I'll make it back soon enough, maybe within a couple of months. I'm not going to be careless enough to make mistakes with this."
Henna's eyes widen. "Y-You're leaving!"
"No," Idox said, firmly. "I'm not. I told you I loved you. I'm not going to sit by idly and watch you get hurt by anyone."
Bella ran to Idox, throwing her arms around his neck. "Thank you!"
He kissed her softly on the cheek. "You're welcome."
"So, what's going to happen to you?" Henna asked.
"Nothing is," he said. "I'll stay here if you want, or at my place. I have enough money to keep everything in order."
Henna buried her face against him. "Okay."
Idox wrapped his arms around her. "Everything will be fine."
"I hope so" she whispered.
Idox slowly pulled away. "You haven't seen everything this can do, have you?" he laughed. He placed the hand of the arm with the device on it onto her lower back and picked her up with one hand and hoisted her above his head. "How's the weather up there?" he asked, smiling.
Henna shrieked with excitment as he lifted her up. Her expression turned from a depressed frown to a thrilled grin. Gigggles escaped her lips and now tears of joy swept down her cheeks.
"What else!" she cried as if she were a small child. "What else can it do!?" |
Idox opened the window all the window, and placed Henna on the sill as he jumped out. He looked for a decent sized tree, and walked up to it. He took a deep breath, balled his fist, and buried it into the tree. The tree did not fall, but instead, a large hole had been ripped through it.
Henna gaped as Idox punched the tree.
"I'd hate to be the one who messes with Idox and Henna if that was my fate!" she called to him, gesturing to the now injured tree trunk. |
