Leaning back against him, Leane placed one hand over his while the other reached behind his neck, gently caressing it as she spoke, "If that's the case, I'm afraid quite a few hearts will be broken."
Turning around to face him, Leane wrapped her arms around his neck and stood on her toes, placing a tender kiss upon his lips. "But I'm glad you don't want to share me. You'd be like all the other boys if you did and wouldn't be the guy I'm falling in love with," she whispered in his ear before placing a tender kiss upon his earlobe and tracing his law line with tender kisses until she reached his lips. Brushing her nose gently against his, Leane couldn't help but smile, "Promise me you'll keep me? Even if the entire school turns against us?" |
"I promise." Matthew said, pulling her close. "But you have to promise that you're not going to blame yourself and try and break things off if I get a black eye or broken nose in the locker room." Matthew said.

Leane sighed as she tenderly caressed his cheek. "But it will be my fault," she whispered softly. Looking up into his eyes, Leane pushed the fears from her thoughts, nearly melting under his gaze.
Placing a number tender kisses upon his lips, Leane murmured softly between each kiss, "But I promise.. I won't run. I'll try to keep them away from you if I can, I promise." |
Matthew rolled his eyes underneath his eyelids. "It will never be your fault." He whispered into her ear. "I chose to be here tonight. Anything that happens is because our athletic department isn't focused enough on academics." He grinned against Leane's jaw, his lips making their way to her's.

Leane blushed and shuddered lightly under his kisses, "But it will still be my fault for you getting hurt. If I hadn't told you how I felt, we would never have gone together nor be here right now.. You'd be safe with your friends and wouldn't have to worry about the jocks hiding out by your car ready to beat you up.. If I hadn't told you, I wouldn't have to worry about how you'll survive at school.. The boys here are cruel.. they'll gang together.. I.. I don't want you getting hurt because they can't keep their hormones in check.. Promise me you'll be careful.."

"I'm always careful about messing with some steriod hyped jocks." Matthew said. "But you have to realize I'm not going to get away with stealing the most beautiful girl in school totally unscathed." He said. "But whether or not I have a black eye sometime doesn't mean that its your fault. It doesn't matter if you told me how you felt, I still fell for you." Matthew said, trying to ease Leane's growing guilt. "If I didn't think that a little blood shed was worth being with you then I wouldn't be here." He said. "I want to be with you and I'm hoping that you're not about to let the school's opinions breka us apart."

Leane shook her head, "Of course not! I want to be with you, no matter what happens. I just hate that I'm going to be the cause of you getting into fights and getting ganged up on, resulting in you getting hurt.. It'll make you hate me after awhile I just know it.."
Looking at her feet, Leane sighed, "I wish I didn't have my father's money and that I wasn't Cheer Captain.. They wouldn't act like this if I didn't have those things.. and you'd be safe to be with me without having to take on the entire school in the process.." |
"Leane." Matthew sighed, cupping her chin and bringing her eyes to meet his. "It wouldn't have been the first time I got roughed up by the team. Every non-athletic guy has faced the dreaded fist. I won't hate you. Ever." He promised, ducking down to give her a tender kiss.

"Promise?" she whispered against his lips as she pulled herself closer, her tongue lightly brushing against his lip as she placed a soft kiss upon his lips.

"Promise." Matthew said, pushing against the small of her back and placed a kiss on her lips. He moved his lips slowly over Leane's, gently carressing her lips. His tongue moved cautiously into Leane's mouth, parting her lips.

One hand pressing on his back, her nails slightly digging into him, Leane softly clutched a bit of his hair as she pulled herself closer to him, her lips eagerly returning his kisses as they stood upon the balcony, their kissing silhouettes bathed in silver moonlight.
Josh, Georjiano, and Paolo couldn't help but smile at the scene, all three happy for Leane. Turning their attention back to the Ball, they noticed the crowd had separated into groups - popular girls, popular guys, nerds and geeks, goths, rejects, and outcasts - each group whispering amongst themselves as they looked at the staircase where Leane and Matt and ascended. Looking at each other, all three men had the same thought - they were discussing Leane and Matt and things were only looking downhill.. |
"Leane." Matthew whispered softly, struggling for coherency under her kisses. His hands pulled her closer, matching the lines of her body to his own. His lips moved swiftly, leaving kisses against her jaw and to her ear before finding her lips.
"We should go back." Matthew said once he'd broken the kiss and rested his forehead on Leane's. |
Brushing her nose softly against his, Leane smiled as she looked up at him, "You're probably right.. who knows what rumors will have circulated by now.."
Placing one last deep, tender kiss upon his lips, Leane slipped out of their embrace and linked her fingers through his, "You know, if you're not careful.. I may end up falling in love with you." |
"Then I'll have to be very non-careful." Matthew winked as he led her back to the Ball. Standing at the top of the staircase, Matthew saw a few students notice them before nudging their friends to look. Soon the entire crowd was watching Leane and Matthew.
Oblivious to the stares, Matthew led Leane down the staircase and brought her to the dance floor. He held her close in his arms and began to dance with her. Ignoring the students watching them, Matthew smiled down at Leane in an ignorant bliss of the others around them. |
Leane, however, noticed all of the stares at this point. Not caring about them, only caring about her and Matt, Leane gently caressed his cheek before placing a tender kiss upon his lips. Grinning, Leane resumed her dancing position as they continued to waltz once more.
Noting the kiss, a few jocks got pissed and took it as Matt kissing Leane, not the other way around, and immediate stepped onto the dance floor. One jock, by the name of Kurt, put his hand on Matt's shoulder, his grip tight on his shoulder blade, "I think you've had enough dancing with Leane for one night, don't you?" Leane rolled her eyes as she placed her hand over Kurt's and pried it off, "Enough. It's me who's monopolizing Matthew Sommers. Not the other way around. You guys really have a problem with who I dance with?" As Leane said this, her voice rose with her temper, causing everyone to realize she was actually serious about what she said. Warren, another jock who stood behind Kurt, then piped up, "Yeah, we do. This kid treats you like dirt and now you're giving him the time of day? That doesn't sit well with us. This kid needs to be taught a lesson, and we're the ones going to teach him." |
"Like you're one to teach." Matthew said rolling his eyes, masking the small amount of fear he felt. "You can hardly read." He added, smirking.
"Now, now." Ben said, stepping up behind Matthew and putting his hand on his friend's shoulder. "Let's remember to speak slowly and in little words." He advised, matching Matthew's smirk with his own. |
Kurt grabbed Matthew by the collar and pulled his face inches from his own, "Watch it, Sommers. One more remark like that and you'll be pulverized."
Leane bit her lower lip as she pushed herself between Matt and Kurt, "Kurt, stop this!" Taking his hand, Leane turned him towards her, "Come on, let's dance." With one last longing look at Matt, her eyes conveying a message of apology, Leane dragged Kurt a few feet away and began to waltz with him, his hand traveling dangerously low on her back. Jenny and Joanna both rushed onto the dance floor, Jenny taking Ben's hand and Joanna taking Matt's, they asked the boys to dance, "Kurt's drunk, that's why he's acting like this. Even if he jumped off a cliff, his teammates would still follow him, that's why he has so much power even though he's drunk. What were you and Leane doing upstairs? It traveled around our groups that she finally gave in to a guy. The jocks are not happy.. What's being said where you were Ben?" |
"Leane and I were talking. There was no giving in I can promise that." Matthew said slowly, working to keep his voice even as he watched Kurt's hands travel low on Leane's back with his eyes narrowed.
"I was around, chatting up some girl at the punch bowl." Ben said seriously, noting Matthew's harsh glare and ready to back him up if Matthew moved in on Kurt. "I saw Matty-boy getting in trouble and decided to join." He said, humor returning to his eyes as they continued to dance. |
Joana cupped Matt's chin and brought his gaze down to her, "Don't. He's just trying to give you an excuse to start something so he can have a reason to beat on you."
Jenny sighed, "Somehow I don't think they'll believe you.." Leane could smell the vodka and rum on Kurt's breath now that she was dancing with him. "Kurt, you need to leave.. You're being ridiculous and making a fool out of yourself." As his hand slipped below her back and grabbed her, Kurt smirked as he fingers slipped to her thigh, "Only if you come with me." Leane pushed his hand off of her and stepped back, slapping his face as she spoke, "How dare you. I'm not one of the slutty girlfriends you keep digging up from the other schools and stealing from their boyfriends just to say you've scored with them. What the hell makes you think I'd ever have sex with someone like you? Get a reality check," she added as she shoved past him. Kurt, however, wasn't phased by her outburst, and simply grabbed her arm, pulling her back to him. His grip tightening on her, Leane bit her lower lip, "Kurt, you're hurting me. Stop it." Not saying a word, Kurt lowered his head and placed a tender kiss upon her lips, his tongue forcing it's way into her mouth. Josh, seeing what Kurt was doing, angered beyond description and darted down the staircase two steps at a time. |
Matt ripped out of Joanna's arms and ran at Kurt, being shadowed by Ben who had also broken free. "I think you've had enough dancing with Leane for one night, don't you?" Matthew imitated Kurt, pushing him backwards and stepping in front of Leane.
Ben stood beside Matthew, guarding Leane. "You really shouldn't have done that." Ben warned, rolling his eyes at the jock before throwing a punch at Kurt's jaw. |
Josh immediately stepped between the boys and Kurt, "Alright everyone, party's over. Kurt here just ruined the perfectly good evening, so be sure to thank him once he's sober and doesn't remember a thing," he added icily as he picked Kurt up by the collar and dragged him to the door, shoving him out the door onto the porch where he landed face first.
Going back to Leane, he surveyed the damage, "You'll get a few bruises, I'm afraid. You're just like mom, your skin bruises far too easily. I'm afraid it's going to look pretty bad.. Come on, let's get you upstairs and get some Tylenol into you. Joanna, Jenny, can you two get the crowd cleared out?" The girls nodded and began doing as they were told. Leane sighed as she looked back at Matt and whispered, "I'm sorry.. Guess my idea of helping only gets us into more trouble.. huh.." |
"You promised not to blame yourself for whatever happened." Matthew smiled, cradling her face in his palm. Placing a tender kiss on her forehead, Matthew leaned back to look at her. "He's right, you should rest. I'll see you tomorrow, Leane." He promised, leaning forward to give her a gentle kiss before reluctantly pulling away from her.
"Let's go Romeo." Ben laughed, tugging at Matthew's elbow. "Until we meet again, Juliet." He said, bowing to Leane with a smile on his lips. Giving her a quick wink goodbye, Ben steered Matthew out of the Ball and to his car. "That was eventful." Matthew sighed once they were in the car. "That was fun but my knouckles kind of hurt now." Ben laughed, rubbing his hand. "Totally worth it though." |
Josh sighed as he put his arm gently around Leane, "Lee, you've got a few really good friends in your life, not to mention a guy who adores you. Don't let Kurt ruin the perfect night you've been having with your friends and boyfriend."
Leane nodded as a tear trickled down her cheek, "I know. I won't." Looking down at her arms, Leane cringed. Purple spots were already beginning to form on her arms. Running her fingertips along them, Leane cringed even more, "Damn it. Cheering's going to kill me for the next few weeks.." she muttered as she, Joanna, and Josh ascended the stair case to Paolo and Georjiano. After the men surveyed Leane, they sighed and said they could hide the bruises for the most part, but there was nothing they could do about the pain. Jenny, who was behind due to double checking that everyone was out of the house, noticed Matt and Ben had left and rushed out of the house down to the car, glad they hadn't left yet. Knocking on Matt's window, Jenny removed her mask and waited for him to roll his window down. |
Matthew looked curiously at Jenny, rolling down his window. "What's up?" He asked with Ben leaning over his lap to see Jenny.

"I'm worried about you two. The guys were talking on the way out. They may respect Josh and won't ever harm him, but that's not the same thing for you two. If you guys aren't staying here tonight with us, you guys had best be careful not only driving home, but getting into your homes as well. There's no telling what those drunks are going to do now that you've openly fought Kurt - they want revenge, bad. There's going to be a lot of trouble for you two and I don't think Leane can handle it - especially with the way those bruises are beginning to show. She knows Kurt hardly used his strength when he grabbed her, if she finds out he's coming after you.. She'll never forgive herself if you get hurt, so don't do anything heroic alright? That goes for you too, Ben," she added with a blush.
