Name: Elliot Waite
Age: 17
Appearance: http://i1144.photobucket.com/albums/...9-850-1002.jpg

Elliot is about 5'10" with a thin, wiry build.
He's well defined by a usually mildly amused, yet careless expression and dark eyes that simply like to say "Hey world... go away, you're ruining the scenery"
Brief Bio: Roughly eighteen years ago, Martha and Steven Waite found themselves blessed with a little bundle of joy. Having both worked their way to high positions in society from less than wealthy homes, both parents wanted to be sure their son had absolutely everything his heart could ever want, to save him the pain of ever going without. The two soon found themselves advancing even faster, and soon without proper time to make any more little miracles, so Elliot grew up as an only child. Attention was showered on and off, depending on work schedules, but overall, Elliot was a happy young boy.
In entering junior high school, though, he went through a pretty dramatic change from little angel to common schoolyard jerk. Having rarely interacted with kids his own age that weren’t the children of close family friends (he’d long had a tutor) Elliot was quick to give into peer pressure to try to prove himself in the eyes of his chums. Soon, he grew to be a typical teenager, lacking in thankfulness who believed he was too good for anything.
It was in a moment of anger that Elliot’s mother called an old friend to ask permission to send her son to live with them and to teach him what hard work was so he could hopefully make himself a name one day. She’d long been making the threats, so it came as a surprise when Elliot found she honestly intended to send him away.

... I may extend that bio. I just can't seem to think right now.

Name: Annabelle "Belle" Smith
Age: 16, soon to be 17.
Appearance:
Stands at 5'6". She has a smooth complexion, no blemishes at all. Her eyes are as green as the green apples in her family orchard, her hair golden like the suns rays. Her skin is slightly tan, but not too dark. She's stronger than she looks, too!
Brief bio: Was brought into the world by her parents, Elizabeth and John Smith. She was raised on the farm all her life. She was homeschooled instead of going to a public or private school. She may be "some dumb redneck" to the city folk, but she's actually very smart. Her parents raised her to be respectful to others and to take charge if needed. She's never had an attitude with her parents, but she can get an attitude when she takes charge. One day, her parents told her that a family friend was coming to stay for a while, and she would be the one to teach them how to work hard. She told them she would try her hardest.

The day had passed by too quickly. It was almost unbelievable. At an ungodly hour, Elliot had been forced to peel away from warm sheets and do the packing he’d refused to do the previous night. Somehow, he’d convinced himself that such a protest would have at least bought enough time to plant guilt into his mother’s head, but it only left him rushing to get enough together before he was forced out of the door and into the truck of a man he’d never before seen.

The driver didn’t speak, and as soon as they were out of city limits, the radio signal was lost, so not even the twangy guitar music could ease tension. Too afraid to actually turn to look at him, Elliot had kept his eyes out the window. Within an hour, he’d started suffering from motion sickness and the only relief came with opening the window. The only attention paid to him was the disapproving grunt as he struggled with the rusted knob to actually get that cheap window to obey his will. That someone was even hired to keep him in place was outrageous.

Just a week ago, he’d been happily wasting his days away with friends. They’d all planned to watch the latest Thomas Shift movie together, after a long night of staying up to see the previous installments. He didn’t even know whether or not the rest of the group had followed through with the plan. Thinking about it made his fists clench as his suitcase was thrown from the back of the truck he’d arrived in and just stared at the farm… ranch… whatever he was staying. Something bitter washed over his face as Elliot picked up abused luggage and tossed a mournful goodbye toward his babysitter, who’d already hopped back into his vehicle and readied to leave.

((Awkward first post~ I'm not doing so hot tonight))

Belle had gotten up when the rooster crowed, stretching while taking in a deep breath. Yep... The rooster always woke her up. She prefered to get up when it crowed so she could take a shower and check on the animals.

After she had gotten done taking her shower and getting dressed, she headed to the kitchen to eat. Her father had left earlier to go to town and sell some of their products, such as milk, eggs, and wool that her mother had spun into yarn. What a shame... She was wanting to tell him goodbye before he left. She shrugged her shoulders and got out a skillet, getting two fresh eggs out of the fridge. She scrambled the eggs and fixed her some toast, pouring a glass of milk to drink with it.

When she finished her breakfast, she cleaned off the plate and washed out the glass, drying them and putting them back up. She went over to the door, putting on her boots and grabbing her hat before going out to the stables. She wanted to go for a long morning ride on her mare, Honeydew, before

She led Honeydew out of her stall and saddled her up, then led her out to the start of the trails. She hoisted herself up, then started on her ride.

When she arrived back at the start of the trail, she noticed the familiar truck that belonged to her uncle. She waved to the man inside, known as Uncle Tom to her, as he drove past and left. She looked over at the person he had dropped off, realizing that it was a guy.

She gently nudged Honeydew in the sides with the heels of her boots, getting the young mare to trot over to the new arrival. She pulled on the reins to get her to stop behind him, tilting her head down slightly so she could look at him. "Howdy partner!" she said, "You must be the new arrival." She stayed sitting on Honeydew, waiting to see what kind of reaction she would get from him.

He couldn't believe it. He'd just been left behind. There was something so unreal about the place. Stables, ranches, all of those things only existed in movies and television. Now he was standing in the middle of one of those scenes, where the protagonist should've been going on about the wonders of life out in the country and growing sickeningly nostalgic. It was too impossible to even try. Still in shock, Elliot could only watch as the truck drove off into the distance. As it grew smaller, his frown did the inverse and grew larger. It was as though his last opportunity to head back was just stripped away by that one old engine.

He hadn't even noticed the girl riding up on a horse until she spoke. Her greeting made Elliot jump and turn all attention to her. In pictures, horses hadn't ever looked so big. The sight of such a creature drove him to take a step back and seem to ready himself to run. If only his mom had taken him to the circus that one time, when he was five. She should have at least prepared him for it, if she'd been planning to dump him off in the middle of nowhere alone.

Setting aside bitter thoughts, Elliot cleared his throat to reply.

"Yep," he began, his voice growing more and more apathetic as he went on, "I just arrived... and I'm new. So, that's probably me. When's the first bus outta here? I think I've had enough."

He continued to eye Honeydew, as though he'd expected her to jump up and eat him at any given moment. Even as he went to pick up his suitcases, his attention was still entirely on the mare. His hands were left to blindly pat the ground, trying to find his bags without any help. Elliot hadn't even noticed that he stood a good three yards away from any of his things (aside from his cellphone, which always sat in his pocket). Now that he thought of it, Elliot was suddenly tempted to check for a signal- maybe he could call child protective services.

Belle blinked a couple times, then laughed at what the boy had said, along with his actions. "There ain't buses out here," she said, "Besides! Yer here to learn how ta work." She quickly got off of Honey, her movements swift. She was now standing on the ground, holding onto Honeydew's reins.

The young blonde continued to watch the boy, quite amused as he fumbled around. "What's yer name?" she finally asked, "I'm Annabelle, but my folks call me Belle~!" She smiled widely. It wasn't a crazy big smile, but just enough to make her high cheek bones to stand out.

Elliot gave up on his suitcases as laughing began. He straightened himself, crossing his arms and lifting his nose into the air. Whether she was being rude or too friendly, he couldn't decide, quickly giving up and deciding that either extreme led to its opposite. For the first time since she'd come near, Elliot lifted his eyes off of the horse (only to quickly move them back before actually getting a proper look at the girl to whom he spoke.

"Well Belle, I ain't here to work, and you ain't gonna be able to make me," Elliot spoke in a crude mimic of the girl. Although it was childish of him, it somehow relieved much of the stress he'd built up. Still, he instantly felt a little guilty, adding, "My name's Elliot" in a murmur.

Belle frowned when she heard the mimicking tone in his voice. Her smile faded, turning into a frown. "I don't appreciate bein' talked to that way," she said, crossing her arms, "I was told ta get ya ta work, an' that's exactly what I'm gonna do. I don't care if yer some spoiled city child who don't care fer anyone but himself! Show some darn respect, ya brat."

It was quite clear that she didn't care who this kid was. He wouldn't talk to her that way. She would use force to get him to do what he was supposed to do if she needed to, but that would be a last resort. She stayed silent, waiting for a response.

Looking down at his feet as he was scolded, Elliot almost seemed to be repenting. For the shortest moment there, he appeared to have some courtesy. This image was quickly broken when Belle's silence began. At that, Elliot pulled the phone from his pocket, sliding it up so the keyboard was accessible, to wake it up from its sleep.

No bars. No signal. That sight alone made him sigh and decide he'd just found hell; it was inescapable. Holding the phone up, Elliot turned to take several steps back and around, hoping to find himself a sweet spot.

"No, really. I'm not here to work. I'm lazy and proud."

"Yer here to learn how to work," Belle said as she watched him wander around with his phone held high, "Jus' like yer mom had told my mom. Yer gonna work, whether ya like it er not." She placed one hand on her hip, using her other hand to brush a few strands of blonde hair out from in front of her eyes. "It ain't that bad, honestly," she said, "Might not be enjoyable at first, being a city boy an' all, but you can get used to it."

Frowning, Elliot closed the phone and shoved it back into his pocket. Whether or not he could make calls didn't matter at that time anyway. All of his friends were probably busy preparing for fun... that thing he wasn't suppose to be having anymore, because mothers seemed to disapprove of it.

"I said I was serious. I don't intend to work. I'm fragile, y'know, like all city kids. No work for me. That'd just be cruel."

Belle couldn't help but laugh. "Yer fragile, alright," she said, "Ya turned out that way 'cause yer just a spoiled rotten brat. Yer gonna work. I don't care if ya find it cruel er not. You ain't goin' home to yer cushy city life anytime soon, dearest, so deal with it." She patted Honeydew for a brief moment, then looked back at Elliot. "Anyways..." she said, "It's not like I'm gonna have ya herdin' in cattle an' brandin' horses. You'll start put with easy stuff, such as making yer bed an' gettin' eggs from the chicken coop... Stuff like that ain't so hard. It's the easiest thing to do, actually."

“You mean, people out here make their beds?” sarcasm was thickly layered in Elliot’s voice, “I really don’t see how you intend to make me to anything against my will. I’m liable to bite and scratch.”

After seeing the horse was not preparing to bite his head off or do God knows what, Elliot became noticeably more comfortable in his stance; he no longer looked ready to turn and run in the opposite direction. Instead, he actually managed to pull his attention from the animal to actually picking up the two suitcases he’d brought with him, taking on in each hand as he lazily prepared to be led to what he was certain would soon be the end of fun. “So, where’ll I be sleeping? And when’s dinner?”

He hadn’t eaten since the night before, when he finally gave up his hunger strike and eaten the plate his mother had left out. That morning, he’d again taken up his refusal to eat, hoping to gain sympathy.

Belle giggled softly. "Beds are made out here, yes," she said, "Though it's just very quick. Don't take longer than two minutes." She watched as he got his stuff, asking where he would be sleeping and when dinner was. "Dinner is in a couple hours," she said, "At five o'clock. You'll be staying in the guest room. Lemme get Honeydew to her stall and I'll show ya around, alright?"

She patted Honeydew on the side, guiding her by the reins back to the stalls. She got her unsaddled and in the right stall, feeding her an apple as a treat before running back out to where Elliot was standing. "Well..." she said, "C'mon then." She motioned for him to follow, heading to the house.

"Couple of hours?" Elliot moaned when she came back, his stomach copying the complaint, "I don't know what the customs are for having guests around here, but it's usually frowned upon to let them starve where I'm from- and where I'm from, guests can just mosey on out of houses, walk a block and find food."

Even as he followed along, Elliot's protests did not come to a pause. His stomach again obnoxiously made clear that he wanted food (and would very well be friendly for it, if needed). As he walked, Elliot swung his bags in an equally childish fashion, quietly whistling "Home on the Range."

Belle shrugged her shoulder. "I'm sure I can getcha some food if ya want," she said, "I could make you some eggs and bacon. I know that we're havin' chicken fer dinner, along with some mac'n'cheese, rolls, and some veggies..." She held the door to the house for him. "After you," she said, motioning for him to go inside. It was well furnished, with a tv and everything. Yes, they had cable... And a color tv! Nothing wrong with that...

"Bacon would be good," Elliot muttered, tossing one of his bags over his shoulder as he slowly followed along. Upon crossing the open door, he nodded in thanks.

At the sight of the television, Elliot threw his head back in exaggerated laughter, dropping one of his bags for effect. "Oh, thank the sweet Lord, you have a television. So, you people aren't cut off from... y'know, life."

"Course we got a tv," Belle said, "Ain't like we're amish. Amish folks don't use technology. Maybe a lamp er two but that's it." She closed the door behind them and headed to the kitchen. "How do ya like yer bacon?" she asked, "Extra crispy, crispy, other?" She chuckled softly.

"Bacon is bacon," Elliot shrugged, picking up the bag he'd dropped only to toss it back down onto the floor after making it to the kitchen with Belle. "Surprise me."

Again, Elliot pulled his cellphone out, holding it up to search for a signal and finding a weak set of bars. With this, a smile finally appeared on his face. If only he knew anyone that wasn't busy at all hours of the day.

Belle nodded slightly. She got out some bacon and a skillet, soon beginning to cook the bacon. "Service ain't the best out here," she said, "If you wanna talk to someone without breaking up er losing connection, then you'll have to use our home phone. There are several throughout the house."

"Ew, like... a big, clunky land line?" Elliot closed his phone and again carelessly shoved it into his back pocket, sticking his nose high in the air to catch the scent of bacon. "Jeez, I can't tell what decade I'm in." In all honesty, Elliot did rather prefer texting; he'd become quite good at it with all of the practicing he did.

Belle chuckled slightly, part of it being a slight scoffing sound. "Hey now," she said, "My family is the only one with a phone way out here. You best be glad that yer able to communicate with yer city friends at all." She moved over to a wall cabinet, opening one of the doors to get out a plate. She placed it by the stove, then started to put the bacon on it. "Want anything to drink?" she said, "Tea? Water? Milk?"

"Is the water out here clean for drinking?" Elliot sat down on one of his bags, leaning against the wall for support. The poor little bag looked as though it would collapse beneath him, as he bounced on it just a bit. "Never mind. Don't even bother answering. Just get me milk, that'll work just fine and I'm sure it's fresh, am I right?"

Belle looked at him, a slightly confused look on her face as he changed his answer from water to milk. "Alrighty then..." she said, getting a glass out, "Yes, it's fresh." She got the milk out of the fridge, pouring some into the glass. She then walked over to Elliot, handing it to him.
