So I heard a new contest has started?

Username of nominee: maidenroseheart:
Nominated by: Tachigami
Literacy level (choose one): Literate
How long have you been writing with this player?: A few months, give or take
Response time when it's their turn (choose one): Within the same day, the next day, or a day or two afterward.
Pros to writing with this player: She's a very good writer, exceptional in description and knows how to make a story progress; there's never a dull moment when writing with her, and she's definitely patient when I go around those rough, lack-of-update type days.
Cons to writing with this player: The only thing I can think of is she doesn't really include her character's name too often. Sometimes I forget it and have to go back a few pages. But I've told her already, so otherwise, no complaints!

Then like an intruder, which she felt very much like, she retreated to the door and out into the fresh air. Taking in slow deep breathes, she relished the freedom of the cool afternoon air.

Climbing back in her car, she glanced at the time. Yep, late lunch. Pulling out and away from there, she headed for the nearest Chinese restaurant. Jumping out and almost stumbling with relief, almost, inside she happily went to the counter to calmly place her order. "I would like an order of sweet and sour chicken, crab rangoons, and wanton soup please. Actually, double that." Might as well get some for Lee. If he didn't want it, she could eat his too. She loved this particular place and that particular order. As she waited for her order, the owner came out and offered her a back of his famous almond cookies with a smile. She smiled back as she accepted them. No words were needed between the two of them. He seemed to always see her entered slightly worn out and leave looking relaxed. He knew this place was a haven of sorts for her to either calm down or regroup herself for something big.

Taking the order when it arrived, she headed back out to the car. She had worked many cases and plenty of people thought they knew her: cool-headed, logical, business-like. Yet no one knew she liked this place, that she enjoyed Chinese food, and that beneath her exterior was an actual person. Being professional had it's time and place, and this was not one of those places. Unfortunately she couldn't stay. Work called and Lee wanted this delivery. She mused briefly why he couldn't have just gotten it himself but shrugged it off as his way of forcing them out of their own bubbles. He must truly enjoy making people uncomfortable.

He turned away from the rhoad, and headed along what had once been a very nice green pasture. The old drebblers had used to graze here, now they were all turned to stone. In the normal world, he had herd of a familiar creature known as a cow. A large animal of various colors who produced milk. The difference with a drebbler, was that they had three legs on each side instead of twi, and they made a sort of honking sound rather then a moo.

He never understood the whole mooing thing. An odd thing for a creature to say, moo. A small smile appeared on his lips, and he couldn't help but be ammused by his own thought. However, this was short lived. Soon the snarl of the queen's guards were herd behind him. Large ghastly lizard like men, wearing armor, and holding large swords were running at him from across the field. Swamp folk, they followed the queen like in the human world a drone follows a queen bee. They were horribly stupid on their own, but were very tough fighters. They smelled often though of murky swamp water, and it was deffinetly a pain to get out of clothes.

Yuki was not going to stand around and wait for them to catch up, he turned taking off over the field. His ears moved up above his head, to listen for the sounds around him. He noticed a few things here and there, but the big thing was, that there were more lizard men on the way. He shuddered, he would not go down so easily to a couple of swamp dwellers. He had to get out of sight, but the only place close enough was a small cave to his left. He had to chance it, darting to the side in a sharp turn. Thankfully, the lizard men again wern't the smartest, and their long clawed feet dug into the durt as they tried to turn, causing them to trip over themselves and eachother.

It was really quite foolish, the queen should have known better then to send a couple of lizards after a smart and quick rabb-. A lizard jumpped out in front of him, interrupting his thoughts. He slid to a hault, glancing past it at the opening just beyond. So close, and yet so far. The lizard laughed, giving a big toothy grin at him. He rolled his eyes, and moved a bit back only to meet the other three lizards. More were coming, they wern't planning to let him go easily at all. A soft sigh escapes him, and he shrugged "might as well" he muttered to himself. He closed his eyes, focusing on the flow of time around his body, feeling every movement around him. The lizards seemed to slow down, before completely freezing.

He had slowed time down, but to the lizards it would be more like he was moving at the speed of light. He hurried around the one in the door, moving along to the cave. He didn't hesitate, before moving deeper inside. The farther he got away, the weaker his time control on the lizards outside got, until they were free. They looked around angrily, and the head one smacked another in the head yelling in their own fowl language. Luckaly, Yuki was to far ahead to hear, he moved deeper into the cave's darkness. His only hope was to escape to the normal world beyond Wonderland, and get help, before the Black Queen got him.
This post reminded me of an old 80's movie that I absolutely adore! Good job Kiyoto

Yeah... I only roleplay with a few people now. I used to roleplay with a lot but have gotten picky as I have gotten experienced.

You shouldn't be. Pretend the character is someone you want to be, then think of how that character would respond if you could respond that way.

Yeah, and I know I can do. The ones that trip me up more is when I am doing a male character, trying not to make him too female.

lol, try to think confidence and energetic for your male character. Something I have noticed is your characters tend to be very insecure, hurt, and such.

Its actually a lot of fun trying to play characters that are not what you yourself are. I'm not male, but I like to think I've made some pretty convincing males. Whether or not they are confident or shy. I tend to actually be neutral in being either an extrovert or introvert, but I do lean more to being introverted. The females I do try to give some variety, but they do have some similar qualities like stubbornness. I'm not really good at violence though, so it would be something I'd want to work on.

Eh if I ever get my work schedule stable, I may make a point to be on as often as possible more. I love the people here and I miss roleplaying. I have so much creativity going on in my head that I need the focus here.

I agree. I am very much an introvert that doesn't take chances. I love hanging out with close friends, but you wouldn't catch me doing anything slightly dangerous. I enjoy having characters that are extroverted, confident, and occasionally not very nice. I'm so nice that if you demanded my coat, I would reluctantly give it to you.

Thanks maiden. I am trying to work on my male skills and I know that that will help as a writer too. I'm so nice that I can't hardly stand up to people even if they are treating me like a door mat.

That's why you have friends who will beat them over the head with a doormat I have a difficult time not giving my characters the same personality - can do almost anything and won't take crap from anyone, very cruel to their enemies.... That's why I like rp cause it's helping me develop characters so when I write my own stories, it's not all the same person

One aspect of creating a character that I like to do is to give them an extreme personality trait. Example, crying. Have your character then cry over anything that could be considered the least bit upsetting or the slightest bit joyful. If each character has their own distinct personality trait, it will help you as the writer to do better in using them. If you decide to have an introverted character, research the different types of introverts and know from the start which one you want yours to be. If you want to do a party goer, set up their boundaries as well as their favorites. Some won't go to a party at 2am... until they learn that their favorite band is playing. I have roleplayed with people who took a week to create their new character. I'm quicker ;)

I like that maiden! Thanks! Shayera is probably the only character I've even attempted who's a shy introvert. So far, I think I'm doing a fair job (if I do say so myself).
