(Uhh, this rp is for Nothingness and .S i m p l i c i t y., but if you want you can read along. . )

A girl, maybe seventeen or so, was trotting down the street, a blank look on her face. She was doing the errands, as she was, after all, a servant of sorts. Her curly hair bounced around her face as she dodged passerby, trying to reach a certain shop. Finally, she found it; a small shop with a metallic sign saying, "Mr. Oliver's Fantastic Robotic Repair Shoppe." Today she was supposed to pick up the household's robot, who had been in for repairs. It wasn't all that bad of a task, the robot, named Abby, was a rather kindly robot, not one of the fancier, more quarrelsome models. Those new ones were nothing but trouble, always wanting to debate scientific things like what the stars in sky really were. Avoiding a few puddles on the brick sidewalk, she stepped cautiously inside, as she always did. The shop was loud, so very loud, with robots creaking and blowing jets of steam into the air, whistles sounding. After a moment, she worked her way over to the counter, filled with tiny clockwork toys and watches, and looked around for the owner of the shop.

(Oh, um, I thought I'd start just roleplaying, but I guess I can post some background info if you'd like. . .)

"Today was the day." Alice, a girl who had all the time on her hands thought to herself as she walked along the sidewalk. Today, she was going to get her first robot! She'd been saving for the longest time, ever since her father had died really. She needed help with her shop and a robot was just the thing to do the trick. "I wonder what kind of robots Mr. Oliver could give me..? Maybe I'll get a high-tech one cheap, or an old one, but I guess I can't be too picky with what I have." She fumbled with the money she had in her leather bag and hoped it would be enough for the type of robot she needed.

Alice hadn't realized where she was going since she'd been in a daze, but she was suddenly at Oliver's shop. "I really should stop doing that.." she thought to herself them grinned and she entered the shop. She listened s she heard all the buzzes and whistles of all the robots around her. God she loved that sound.

[[Haha, that's okayy. We can always tell about our character in our posts. ;D ]]

The girl sighed and called out over the noise of all the robots, "Mr. Oliver, where are you?" Soon enough, an older man, maybe fifty or so, appeared from behind a display case full of small robotic insects and other animals. "There you are! I'm here to pick up Abby for my master, Mr. Sterling?" The man, a tall fellow with a long beard and complex-looking brass goggles, nodded and went into a room behind the counter. The girl sighed again, hoping he'd be back soon. This shop was simply too noisy for her. Even the steam-powered horseless carriages weren't this loud!

Looking around the shop again, she saw another customer had entered, a girl who looked like she wasn't a servant of any kind. Hurriedly, she moved out of the way a little so that she could get to the counter, too. Servants should always be courteous to those who weren't servants, that was what she had always been told by her mother.

(All right, then. If you don't mind, I'll introduce my next character in a few posts.)

Alice looked around and soon saw a girl that looked about her age at the counter. The girl had looked at her timidly then moved as she had neared the counter. She sighed. "People always mistake me for what I'm not.." she thought to herself. Many people mis-took her to be a master and own servants, but she didn't own any at all. If anything she was just like them, if not worse off. Sure she wasn't a servant and could do what she wanted due to her fathers work, but she hated the thought of being thought of as "rich".

"Hello there" she said to the girl with a smile on her face. She hoped the girl wouldn't be too timid to talk to her. "You were here first, so you don't have to move. I can wait for my turn. All I'm doing is buying a robot." She almost giggled as she said this, but thought it might be rude so decided against it.

"Oh, no, madam, it's quite all right. I'm just a servant, after all," the girl protested, "And I'm just waiting to pick up a robot. Mr. Oliver should be out in a moment." She really was a timid girl, preferring not to speak to those she didn't know well, but she didn't want this person who was obviously not a servant to have to wait. She wasn't quite sure what the girl was, but she certainly didn't look to be a servant. She flashed a small smile at the other girl and turned back to the counter to wait. What was taking Mr. Oliver so long? Maybe Abby was giving him a hard time today. Sometimes she got it in her mind that she was to nag people, certainly not good behavior for a servant, and even worse for a robot. Simply shameful.

Not having much else to do, she looked around the shop at the curious robots and such lying about. This shop, while rather small, was well-known for it's more. . unusual robots. Mr. Oliver specialized in making robotic insects, usually much bigger than their real counterparts. She flinched as a robotic wasp, gleaming, buzzed over her head. It was rather beautiful, for an insect, with intricate gears visible under it's abdomen and valves that released steam curling around it's sides. Nevertheless, it was a wasp, and she had never met a wasp that she had liked. Shaking her head slightly, she continued waiting patiently.

(All right, sounds good.)

Alice couldn't help but smile at this. After getting it for so long, she was used to it, but it sometimes got anoying. "I assure you that you don't have to move for me. I'm nothing special to move for, just a human like yourself." she said in an almost childish voice. She didn't want to intimidate the girl, but this girl seemed too tense and needed to relax.

Alice stared around the room. All the robots were amazing. They were flying and buzzing, and steaming, and then she saw one that caught her eye. She had found a ladybug. The instant she saw it, she couldn't take her eyes off of it. "That's the one.." she thought to herself as she watched the gears that were the ladybug's spots turn on it's back.
Suddenly she heard a shuffling noise behind her and saw Mr. Oliver standing behind the counter with a robot in his arms.

"If- If you say so, madam," the girl replied, surprised. What sort of person was this girl? Most people who weren't servants simply ignored her. . . Then she noticed Mr. Oliver behind the counter. "Oh, thank you sir. Mr. Sterling will be very pleased," she remarked, as she recognized the familiar robot. She carefully took it out of the man's hands and took a few rectangular copper coins out of her pocket, handing them to Mr. Oliver. Then she made a sort of bowing motion to him and the girl, stepped back, careful not to crush any robots, and turned to Abby.

Abby was a small robot, a bit shorter than she was. She looked quite like a human, except for her stature, her gleaming copper skin, and the intricate valves nestled around her head like a halo around her blond artificial hair. How she envied that hair! Her hair was just a brown mess of curls, currently tied up in a strange fashion, imitating the tail of a horse. But she was a servant, and as such, it didn't really matter. Not wanting to carry the robot all the way home, she activated the robot by turning a gear on her back. More gears could be heard turning, and soon the robot was alive. It turned to the girl, almost smiling, and said in a wonderful ringing voice, "Hello again, Gina! Are my repairs finished now?" The girl, who the robot had named Gina many years ago, smiled and nodded, taking the robot's cold, shining hand and leading it out the door.

"I'm quite sure." ALice said with a courteous smile. The girl wasn't just timid now, but was a bit shocked. "Did I offend her?" she thought to herself, then discarded the thought. There was no way she could have. She'd said nothing wrong.

Alice watched as the girl paid for the robot then started heading towards the door. The robot was beautiful with it's golden hair. She'd never seen a robot with such golden hair. The girl could hardly compare to her, but looked like she had it rough. That's when Alice got an idea. "I'd like to give her something..I'm not sure why, but I feel the need too" she was thinking as she reached into her pouch for a few coins. She ran up to the girl before she was completely out the door and said "I believe you dropped these when paying for your robot" she said and watched the girls facial expression change greatly.

Gina was about to tell the robot about where they were going to be going for the rest of the day, when she noticed the strange girl was talking to her. Had she really dropped those coins? She probably would have heard them clatter on the dusty cement floor if she had, but. . maybe the girl was trying to be nice to her. She had been nicer to her than most people, so maybe that was what she was doing. Yes, that had to be it. Surprised and delighted, she took the coins gratefully, thanking the girl profusely and bowing to her again. "Thank you so much, madam! Is there anything I can assist you with in return?" she asked, hoping Abby wouldn't do anything rude, as she was prone to do. The robot said nothing, but gave the girl a bow and a small smile. She knew that even a few copper coins could be a fortune for Gina.

Alice watched as the girl bowed. "Ughh, I really hope she doesn't do that to everyone." she thought then grimaced. She knew it was polite, but she didn't want to feel like royalty when she wasn't.

"Actually, there is something you could help me with. If it were possible would you come to my shop later today? I make clothes and well, to be quite honest, it's rather hard fitting myself, and I was wondering if you would like to help me fit clothes?" Alice said with a smile at the girl. She hoped she would come since she had some extra clothes that nobody would buy that looked perfect for the girl. Plus she really could use a model. "You see, I'm planning on getting a robot to help me, but they can only help so much, so I really hope you'll come." And with that, Alice could only wait for the answer.

"But of course, madam! It would be my pleasure! Where is your shop?" Gina replied, excited. Her master wouldn't mind, she was going to be out of the house all day anyways. She carefully put the coins away in one of the pockets on her plain brown dress, beaming.

She glanced at Abby, who was giving the woman a sidelong look. 'That robot. . Oh, I really hope she doesn't mess this up for me!' she thought, but she knew that Abby probably would keep her metal mouth shut. Abby just smiled angelically, which was rather eerie and disquieting. The robot's hands were clasped in front of her, she was wearing a simple but nice white dress. She really did look something like an angel, or at least the pictures of them Gina had seen in her story books when she had been younger.

"Oh! Well, I'm so glad then!" Alica said beaming. She hadn't expected the girl to come, but now she was and she could finally finish her work and give the girl something better to wear. "Well, first I have to see if I have enough for that lovely robot over there, then I'll just walk you to my shop if you don't have any other errands to make?"

Alice glanced over at Mr. Oliver. "Mr. Oliver, how much is that ladybug robot? It looks like it'd be perfect to help me with my work." Mr Oliver simply looked over at her and shook his head with a grin. She knew that he would sell it to her, she just hoped she could afford it.

"It's 350 coins Alice. Do you really think you have enough for it?" Mr. Oliver said with a grim expression. "But maybe if you throw in a new shirt for me I'll sell it cheaper." Alice grinned at the old man. She had enough for it thankfully. "That sounds like a fine deal to me Mr. Oliver. Drop by my shop later today and we can talk about what type of shirt you'd like" Alice said chuckling. She counted the coins and handed them to him. The robot was expensive, but it would be perfect. She took it from it's shelf, turned the switch, and thr robot cam to life and stared at her.

Alice turned to the girl who had been staring the whole time. "So do have other errands to run or can you just come straight over with me?" she said to the girl politely.

"I have some other errands to run, miss, but they can certainly wait. My master won't mind at all," she replied cheerfully. It sounded like fun, and it would be nice to have a break from work. "You don't mind, do you, Abby?" she asked the robot, who smiled at her and said, "Of course not!" It wasn't as if the robot really cared. . and it would be nice to not have to run through the streets, dodging carriages.

( Sorry, it's a little short.. )

"Well, take your time. I've got all day." Alice said with what she hoped was a genuine smile. "Anyways, my shop is on the other side of town, near the bridge. It's called "Illusions" and it's not hard to find. Hopefully I'll see you soon. And with that, Alice smiled, nodded at both the girl and her robot who was named Abby, and walked out the door with her new robot following close behind her.

"Do you think she'll actually come?" Alice asked her new robot.

"She seemed like she was interested, so I don't see why she wouldn't come." The robot said white hovering close. "By the way, I'm Lucille. Who might you be?"

"I'm Alice. It's nice to meet you Lucille. I hope you like sewing, since that's what you were bought for, to help me in the shop" Alice said then looked at Lucille as they walked down the street towards the train station.

"Oh well, I do enjoy sewing quite a bit. I'm sure it'll be just lovely." Lucille said as her gears turned.

And with that, they traveled the rest of their short trip in silence, wondering if the girl would truly come.

Gina nodded and walked off, she was getting rather hungry and needed to get a bite to eat. She trotted over to a small tea shoppe just down the street, weaving through a small crowd of people and robots. Abby was walking behind her, with her blond hair bouncing around her head. A few minutes later, Gina was walking along, eating a vegetable sandwich. Abby looked at the sandwich with disdain, humans were such fussy things, they always needed food and water. Gina was rather nice as far as humans went, though. Most humans, even servants didn't treat robots so nicely.

Soon enough, the two were walking across the bridge, a great, huge thing. It was made of copper, and it glistened in the sunlight, even when it was dirty from the rain and snow. It was mainly for people, not the horseless carriages, so it was one of the quieter places in the city. "Illusions. . . Oh! There it is!" Gina murmured to herself, as she spotted the shop, not too far off in the distance. Abby nodded and let off a bit of steam, making a quiet hissing noise. The steam spurted from the ring of valves around her head, rising in the air. It looked a great deal like a halo. Timidly, Gina kept walking, the robot dutifully following her, as they headed towards the shop, which was still a few minutes' walk ahead.

Alice had made it back to her shop fairly quickly. The train was the fastest way to get around town by far, and she didn't mind getting back fast this time. She had things to look for.

"Lucille, do you think you could help me search for this copper colored dress? It's got a belt that goes with it too, but I can't find it" Alice said to her robot quickly. She wanted to find the dress for the girl, but she was unable to find it right them. She was in the back of the shop when Lucille finally answered back with a "I found the dress Alice! Do you need it right now?" the robot yelled back at her.

"No, just lay it on the counter. I'm sure she'll be here soon anyways." Alice yelled back in response. Now, if only she could find the belt that went with it. So she continued searching.

Soon enough, Gina and the robot were outside the shop, Gina timidly knocking on the door. Now, all of a sudden, she was nervous. Abby rolled her glass eyes and patted her on the shoulder, she wasn't the type of robot to be worried about much of anything. "Do you think we should just go in?" Gina murmured to the robot, still nervous. "Of course. Stop being silly," the robot answered, opening the door, "I'm sure it'll be okay if you just go in." Humans were so silly, weren't they? Biting her lip, Gina cautiously entered, shutting the door behind her and Abby as quietly as possible.

Alice heard the door open and then close. She looked up from her storage room and there stood the girl with her robot. "Dangit." she thought to herself. She hadn't found the belt yet and the girl was already here.

"Hello?" Alice said while still looking for the belt. "Who's there?"

Lucille had taken it upon herself to clean the shop and Alice really wished she hadn't. Especially when people were there.

"Uh. . It's me. . The girl from earlier today?" Gina replied. Then she walked a little farther into the shop, still rather timid. Abby was following her, examining everything she saw as she walked. The robot was almost laughing at Gina, that girl was too shy for her own good. Maybe if she hadn't been born a servant. . Then maybe she would have turned out better. It wasn't her place to think about such things, though. She was only a mere robot. . Sometimes she disregarded that, though, and nagged people. She knew Gina hated that, which was mainly why she did it. Then she noticed the other robot and examined it, curious. It looked like some kind of bug, she didn't know much about bugs. This one was rather pretty, though. .

[[Omgshh, I'm so sorry for the late reply. I've been busy and I was playing The Mole for the past day and I had to search through 350 pgs looking for edited clues for the mission we were on D: ]]

"Ohhh, I'm teribly sorry! I should have known since I was the one who invited you to come!" Alice said wiping herself off from the dust and went to greet the girl. "So I see you found the place just fine. Do you like it?" she said with a smile. "Lucille, would you get the garments I had you searching for earlier?" and with that Lucille nodded and went off to find where she'd put them.

[[Sorry for the shortness too, it'll be better the next response. :] ]]

(Aaaah, I'm sorry, too. I got really sidetracked. I'm very sorry. . . )

"Yes, it's a very nice shop, madam," Gina replied politely. It was rather nice, she thought, and she elbowed Abby, who started and agreed that it was a lovely shop. That robot. . She really had to be more polite. . Gina waited politely, looking around the shop with her arms clasped behind her back. Abby was smiling, too, as she looked at the curious little robot. Maybe she could talk to it while Gina was busy, it looked like a rather nice robot. She had only ever talked to one or two other robots, and not for very long. What, she wondered, did other robots think about humans? Did they, too, think they were strange and squishy creatures?
