Carol frowned as Diah poked his head out from her hair, Sue's tone putting him on edge. It'd be bad to reveal his powers already, but if he had to, he would.
"What do you think someone like me would have against him? I still haven't completely forgiven him for how we met, first off. Secondly, he's rude to me. He's moody, he's demanding, and he grates on my nerves."

"I wonder.. if he wants you to like him..." She mumbled, her eyes widening as the thoughts dawned on her. "It would explain a lot, if he didn't. After all, if you fell for him it would risk your purity. You could become useless to him..."

Her eyes narrowed. "So he's deliberately pissing me off? Oh that's good to know. Real great." She pulled the pillow over her head. "Well he doesn't have to worry about me 'falling for him'. As if I ever would. I'm just his stupid little pet."

"I don't think he sees it that way." Sue said with a sad smile.

There was a moment's silence before Carol slowly poked her head out. "What're you talking about?"

"If he saw you as just a pet, he'd probably push the burden of taking care of you off on someone else. Jin does what he wants whenever he can. If he's with you, it's because he wants to be. If he isn't, it's because he doesn't want to be."

Her mouth twitched into a frown at being called a burden, but she didn't say anything about it. "So...what? He wants to be around be so he can purposely drive me crazy and make me hate him?" She shook her head. "That makes no sense."

"No... He wants to be near you, but he doesn't want you to be near him. It's a tug of war, get it? He likes you, but if you like him it ruins everything. It has to be a one way affection if any."

"That's...confusing, to say the least. But," she shrugged, "No problem. I can't 'fall in love' with the demon. It wasn't going to happen anyway."

"So you think... Anyway, if you're all settled, I'm going to head out. Goodnight!" b

"...Good night." She sighed, rolled over, and closed her eyes, though she doubted she'd be able to sleep much with Jin's minions crawling around.
Diah climbed up her pillow, curling up a few inches above her head. He eyed her nervously, praying she was right and it didn't happen. The last thing he needed was this girl falling in love with her 'master'.

Through the night there was the occasional sound of footsteps in the hall, but no one bothered her until close to midnight. Soundlessly the door slid open and shut again as a figure slid in, clinging to the shadows. Light on his feet, the old floor boards failed to creak under his weight as he made it to the bed. In a few fluid movement he straddled Carol, his hand sliding over her mouth. Jin's plan would fail if the girl wasn't pure; the fact that she was cute was just a bonus, right?

((Don't kill him. n.n;; We need some kind of decent... erm, indecent.., demon. ))

Carol's eyes flew open and she immediately grabbed his wrist with one hand, using the other to push against him. "Get off!" She screamed against his hand, struggling beneath his weight.

"Shhhh... Believe me doll, I'm doing you a favor. 'Ve you got ay idea what he intends to put you through? He's throwing off the balance as well, we can't have that. What's one night of pleasure to avoid an eternity of pain?" His voice was silky and his words were almost enough to mask his other hand moving to her waist.

She squeezed her eyes shut, her mind racing. Then, doing the only thing she could think of, she bit down as hard as she could on the skin of his fingers. She just needed his hand away long enough to scream...to get Jin's attention...

"That would hurt... accept I'm already dead and my pain tolerance is through the roof..."

"Good, then you won't feel this." The room lit up at a jet of green flames that sent the demo scurry back to avoid them.

"Shit, Jin, what was that for? I was just playin' with her!"

Jin stood in the doorway. "First, she's a guest not a prisoner, you can't do as you please with her. Second, you lowlife piece of shit, she's mine and I won't tolerate your filthy hands all over her. Third, she'd bound to me. You pull a stunt like that and her heartbeat grows so damned loud in my ears I can't even think much less sleep. Get your scrawny ass back to your room Elias."

The demon got to his feet, nursing a small burn on his hand where he didn't move away quite fast enough. Jin watch him cower as he slid past into the hall. "You, follow me, now." He said shortly, his cold gaze falling on her. "Your little pet stays here. Some guardian he turned out to be."

She stared at him in wide-eyed terror, then looked down at Diah who had opened one eye to look at Jin. "I don't act when I'm not needed," he said simply. "You came, as I knew you would. Had you waited any longer, I would have done something, but otherwise it's pointless." He closed his eye. "Acting when not necessary will get me in unnecessary trouble. Go, Carol, I'll stay here." He had no worries about her being with Jin, it was when she was alone with the others that he was bothered.
She shakily stood and crossed the room to Jin, leaning against him slightly. "Told you I should've slept in your room," she muttered.

"And what made you so sure I'd come? Angel's know very little about demonic bonds." He pointed out as he slid an arm around Carol's waist and led her out of the room. "I don't want to hear it Carol." He grumbled as he led her up several flights of stairs and down a long hall to a large room, elegantly furnished. "You'll sleep on the bay window, it's large enough and there are blankets on the shelf underneath."

Once they were gone, Diah's eyes opened, then narrowed in anger. There was a quick flash of blue light and in his place sat a tall man--about six feet three--slender, with shaggy brown hair, stern blue eyes, and large blue wings. His fingers dug into the edge of the bed, his head hung in frustration. This is so annoying. I can't reveal this form and I can't do anything in the other form....He took a deep breath. Next time...I don't care if he comes or not...I will protect her. Diah looked to the empty space where she had been, his expression softening. He'd watched her grow; he loved her deeply. Watching a man with his hands on her like that had sent him into such a silent fury it'd taken every ounce of will to control himself. But he knew Jin would come, because Carol knew.
Hell, he almost wished she'd been wrong if only so he could've taken a shot the creep.
Taking another slow, deep breath, he closed his eyes, gradually returning to his smaller form and curling up again.

"Why...?" She looked up at him, too shaken still to hide the pain in her expression. "Why are you so against me being near you now?" She wrapped her arms around his waist, burying her face in his chest. "I want to stay with you. I feel safe with you."

"My self control falters when I'm in places I'm familiar with." He said shortly, "Besides, you're never terribly pleased with my company." he pointed out, trying to pull away without seeming cruel. Then again, cruel might have been the better way to go.

Elias slunk back into the room and moved to the bed. "Angelic hamster?" He questioned as he sat next to it, prodding it with a long slender finger.

Her eyes widened slightly, then closed as she dropped her arms. "Fine. Whatever." Without another word, she moved to the daybed and pulled it open to retrieve a blanket.

Diah's eyes flew open and before either of them could speak another word he was back to his human form. "What do you think you're doing here?"

"Oh, so now you're mad at me." He said with a sigh as he walked over and threw the curtains open.

"I live here, why shouldn't I be here? And I could ask you the same question, you don't even belong in this world." He pointed out as he placed a hand on the creatures shoulder, pushing him back.

"Why shouldn't I be?" She asked coldly. "You can't seem to make up your mind if you want me around or not, and just when I was starting to like being around you, you decide you want me gone."

Diah didn't budge, though his gaze narrowed. "I mean why are you in this room. I'm here because your 'master' told me to stay."

"It's fairly simple, I don't want you to hate me, but I don't want you to love me either. All of this will be entirely pointless if you go and fall for a demon." He opened a fairly large closet and vanished into it, returning soon after in a pair of baggy pajama pants sitting low on his waist.

Elais grinned, wondering how far he could push the angel as he moved to straddle the man. "I'm here because I can be. I don't need a better reason than that."

With unusual calm, she set the blanket down and turned to him. "I do not love you, and I doubt I ever will. But keep treating me like this and I will end up hating you. Besides--" she turned back to the day bed and returned to the blanket. "--no love can be condemned by God. Even if I did happen to fall in love with you, things would be fine as long as I didn't sleep with you. Why does it matter to you, anyway?"

"Get off, sir," he said calmly. "Get off and leave."
