She wanted to say 'You can, you just don't want to'. Instead, she pulled her hand away. "I know."

"You two realize you have an audience." Ida said as she brushed past them. "Isaac, that will be your room." She pointed to the room next to Jin's, "But for now, you should get those wounds cleaned up."

"Carol will Fix those, I just need some clothes." Isaac answered.

"So that's your room?" Carol asked, gesturing to the door. "Can I see?"

"It's pretty similar to the other one." Jin said with a shrug, pushing the door open. "It's not the main house, all the other rooms are like this."

She slipped in and looked around. "So extravagant," She murmured in a tone that was hard to decipher. She then walked over and jumped on the bed, curling up. "Can't I just sleep for a bit?"

Isaac made to protest but Ida hushed him, "She can rest while we clean you up."

She opened one eye to look at Jin and held her arm out. "Nap with me?"

Jin nodded and moved in to lie next to her. "Are you that tired?"

"Yeah...I think all the sleepless nights and stuff are catching up to me," She said with a yawn.

((... but... I don't care. XD ))

"Or maybe it's the energy a sudden transformation takes out of you."

((You don't have to care to be smited, only spited.))

"I said 'and stuff'." She wrapped an arm around him and sighed softly, her eyes closed.

Jin, already well rested, just watched her sleep. His hand rested lightly on her waist and he quickly fell into thought. He was getting to be too close to her, and the closer he got, the more in danger they both were.

She slept soundly for over an hour, and still showed no signs of waking. Having put off sleeping for two nights, and the two nights she needed it most, she was exhausted.

Isaac knocked lightly on the door and Jin lightly pulled away from Carol. "Let her sleep, she'll function better once she's well rested. I need to talk to you about something." He said as he pulled Isaac down the hall.

About another hour later, Carol's eyes fluttered open and she groggily sat up, stretching. "Well I feel better," she muttered, rubbing her eyes and looking around for Jin.

Isaac was seated on the foot of the bed, playing with a deck of cards. "Carol...." He turned to face her, "Catch the queen of hearts." He said as he flung the cards at the ceiling and they scattered all over the room. "As well as her king."

"What? Why?" She rubbed her eyes again, trying to wake up enough to understand what was going on. Figuring it was some kind of strange test, she looked around, quickly picking out the Queen. She darted over and grabbed it, but was unable to find the king before it hit the ground. "I didn't get the other," she said, sounding rather dissapointed in herself.

Isaac stood, folding his slender arms over his chest and grinning at her. He'd changed into a pink t-shirt and a pair of light jeans, leaving his feet bare. "Pick them up." He said as he oved to the window and pushed it open. "I'm just testing to see where you're at and what you can do. Don't be ashamed if you can't do something I ask of you at this point." His wings spread, and at first appeared fairly normal, coming out to the span of an average angels, until you noticed the ragged feathers at the end and realized they had been cut off at the joint. Half their normal size, pearly white, like mother of pearl, and unable to fly. "Your wings are important. If they get damaged, even aided with magic, they take a very long time to heal."

She frowned and began picking them up, but after a few minutes paused and looked around. It seemed most of her abilities were triggered by focusing. Curious, she focused her gaze on a card a few feet away, picturing it coming to her. Nothing happened after first, then it rather suddenly, and very quickly, flew to her. She let out a small shriek and darted away as it flew past and embedded itself in the wall behind her. "...Oops..."

Isaac gave a small laugh and with a swoop of his arm, sent the cards flying out the window. "This time, catch as man as you can." He said as he stepped out of her way.

With a small groan, she leapt out the window, falling quickly to the ground, and managing to catch a handful of cards on the way down. Once on the ground, she leapt several feet and grabbed as many as she could, managing to get all but five that fell to the ground.

Isaac jumped, his tattered wings not allowing him to fly, but slowing his decent enough he was able to land in a crouch. "When you brought that card to you, do you understand the basic Mechanics of what you did?" He picked up a card, "A card has no brain, so you couldn't have controlled it. Manipulating the paper would have been too much effort. You manipulated the air around the card." He send the card flying. "Let's try the same trick, but with all the cards." He sat cross legged, "Stack them as neatly as you can in my hand, from where you are, without touching them or cutting me."

Considering what had happened last time she'd tried to move a card, she was rather nervous about aiming them at someone else. Nevertheless, she did as told, focusing on the air instead of the cards. Her first attempted succeeded only in blowing her hair and clothes madly around her body and scaring her half to death. She let out a small cry of panic and the wind immediately died down, though it left her hair a mess. "Dang it," she muttered, trying to detangle it a bit but not succeeding much. After giving up on that, she tried again, this time with much less force in mind. After a few unsuccessful attempts, she managed to get them all in his hand. "Healing was easier," she muttered, dropping to the ground.

"If you want easy sit back and let those pits continue to collect." He pocketed the deck. "Let's try from offense. You won't like it, but you need to learn it just in case. Let's try some basic fighting." He said as he went through a series of moves. "Try those."

She repeated the sequence, surprised at her own grace. Usually she would have fallen over at the first move. "How was that?"
