I can't remember resembles his mom or his dad more... I'll look it up later, but for now, he resembles his dad. XD ]]

Different colored eyes blinked curiously as she watched Heron in front of her parade around his step-mother. She closed her eyes and sighed. It reminded her of Azure from when she was just a kit... The green fur that resembled hers, and the Azul next to her, grinning with pride. And she would tilt her head so it laid next to his and--

Citrus opened her eyes and stared at the red kit, happy and carefree as Azure once was. Of course, there was so sign of resemblance between the two, afterall, Heron wasn't her child, he was Midnight's and Chase's. The spawn of her mate's and another female that never knew eachother, producing four babies, two resemble the father and two that resembled the mother. And the thought of it made her jealous. Innocent Heron had four parents and had no idea why.. He continued to parade and dance around his step-mother. In months, he'd grow into an adult, happy and easygoing, resembling his father mostly, the male she loved, the one SHE was mated to, NOT Midnight.

"Please stop, Heron," she stated simply, growling ever so slightly.

Heron tilted his head. "Why aren't you happy, Momma Citwus?" He stepped towards her, placing his face only a foot away from Citrus's. "Did I mess up the dance? I'll start all over..."

"It's not that. Mommy Citrus just has a headache. That's all," she said, smiling slightly. "Don't worry, Heron."

Dawn blinked curiously at her stepmother, Citrus. She really enjoyed her experiences with her stepmother, because it allowed her to learn about her personality and what she liked. But she was always upset when Citrus had a headache.

"Mommy has a headache?!" Dawn said, disappointed. "How come?" she had to add. Dawn always had to ask questions; it was just her nature. It was extremely bad when she was confused about the situation or what they were talking about. Waiting for an answer, she layed down next to Citrus and got comfortable.

"Mommy has a headache from thinking too hard about the past. Before you two wonderful blessings came," she responded. Blessings? Right. Sure they were blessings... Maybe for Chase and Midnight, but definately not her. They were more of a curse for her, something that helped prevent their search for the zombie, Voodoo. If only they came a little before, perhaps before she fell in love with Chase it would of been okay. She would be able to accept them and the children'd probably would be looking for the zombie as well, since they would be grown...

She felt angry again, but she knew she couldn't show it. If she was alone, she could cry until she had no tears left, cursing Chase and Midnight and the children, maybe even Ciro and herself for her stupidity of falling in love with Chase so quickly and easily. Why was he like Azul in so many ways?

Heron rested on the other side of Citrus, opposite of Dawn. "Mommy Citwus... Can you tell us a story about you pwast? I wanna hear one! Liiike, tell us how you met Daddy!! Pweaaaasssseeeee!" He grinned, snuggling close to her side, sharing their warmth. He loved stories...

"Yeah, Mommy! I've always wanted to know about Mommy's past!" Dawn exclaimed, grinning. Would she finally get to hear about her father and stepmother's past?! She wasn't sure, but she hoped Citrus would tell her. She was a daddy's girl too, so she would love to hear about it.

"How your father and I met...? I don't quite remember the exact day, though I do remember the zombie, Voodoo, and Blue, your step-uncle were hanging around each other.. I was disgusted and decided I'd help Chase, your father. That's pretty much... Anything else you want to hear?" she said, closing her eyes and laying her head on her front legs.

Heron stared. "That's not very interesing..." He frowned. "How about you tell us before you met him! From when you were a kit to becoming an adult and then meeting Daddy!"

She was going to scream NO! She wanted to escape from them now. "Maybe something else, I'll tell you two maybe another time...." she said calmly, flicking her tail.

Dawn was very disappointed when Citrus refused to tell them about her past. She didn't really know anything else for Citrus to ask about. How boring! She wanted to hear something exciting.

"Do you have anything else to tell me and Hewo, Mommy?" she asked, wanting to hear at least SOMETHING interesting from Citrus. She stretched and then curled up comfortably.

Citrus sighed. "Do you think you can keep a secret?"

Heron ears twitched. A secret! The thought made him excited. His body shifted slightly closer to her, breathing gently. "I can!" he whispered excitedly, his eyes gaining a brilliance and flashing slightly. "What is it! What is it!"

Citrus glanced at Dawn. "And can you?" Her eyes gazed into Dawn's, the small female kit nestled close next to Citrus's body. "Because it's very important and your daddy doesn't even know it..." And she wanted to keep it that way. Things would be too troublesome if she had to explain her whole past to Chase. She had only mentioned the death of her first mate, and saying it was Blue's fault, though in truth, it had been both of their faults, mostly hers..

"Of course I can!" Dawn said excitedly, looking up at Citrus. Wow! A secret Chase didn't even know about?! She just HAD to hear! "I promise I'll never tell," she added excitedly. You could see the curiousity in her eyes.

Citrus lowered her head, whispering only so they could hear. "Chase know that before him, I had another mate, though your daddy Chase didn't know that I had a child... So you two had a step-sister once," she whispered spftly. She raised her head. "Make sure not to tell him."

Heron stared with wonder. "What does she look like? What's her name!"

She sighed. "Her name was Azure... She was green like Mommy Citrus, with flowers, sort of like her uncle, and swirls and very soft spots slightly darker than her fur that were almost invisible..." she responded. "Do you have any questions, Dawn...?" She didn't knmow why she was telling them. Aybe it was to get them to shut up and stop pestering her. Why id she confuse herself easily...?

"Wow! Azure must have been very pretty!" Dawn said in astonishment. She had a stepsister before she was born?! It shocked her, but she was happy anyway.

"Mhm," Dawn said when Citrus asked her if she had any questions. "Where did Azure go Mommy? Is Azure living with your former mate?" she asked, not trying to be any trouble but sounding like it. She really wanted to meet her only sister. It was troublesome being around boys all day.

"Azure and my former mate, Azul... Well, they kicked the bucket, as humans say... A pokemon attacked us and they died when we attempted to escape. It had followed your uncle and I when we were gathering food then attempted to attack us while eating, you see?" She sighed. Why was she telling children that weren't even hers this?

Heron widened his eyes. "Kicked the bucket... Died...?" he repeated, struck with suprise. "Poor Mommy Citwus..." He wished he was like humans, having the ability to hug and things like that.. He nuzzled her arm. "I'm sowwy, Mommy Citwus..." He frowned, wimpering a bit.

Dawn's curious look automatically turned into an upset frown. Sighing always meant Citrus was upset or troubled. Why did she have to ask such a thing?! She sighed and nuzzled Citrus. "I'm sowwy Mommy... I shouldn't have asked Mommy that question..."

Citrus smiled slighty. "It's okay Dawn... You'd find out one way or another," she answered, nuzzling Dawn's, then Heron's forehead. "It's sad to talk about, but they're in a better place now. So no need to worry." She smiled some more, a brighter one then the previous.

Heron's eyes glistened and he purred a tiny bit. "Momma Citwus is strong!" he exclaimed with pride, a step-mother that could talk about such a thing without shedding a tear! "Mommy Citwus... Did you wuv Azoor more than you wuv us?" he asked curiously. It wuld be another awkward question to awkwardly answer...

Dawn didn't think about that. "Yeah! Does Mommy?" she asked, curiousity getting the better of her. She didn't notice that wasn't the best question to ask since Heron suggested it. Dawn began purring because of Citrus's nuzzling.

"...What a silly question... Mommy loves all her children equally," she responded. Her head echoed 'Lier! You're a lier with everything you say! Tell them the truth...' loudly. She wondered if the kits could hear her thoughts; of course they couldn't. So she thought back a stern 'No.'

Heron grinned. "Oh, okay!! I don't think I have any other questions left..." He grinned some more happily.

Dawn's purring got louder because of Citrus's response. "Oh, okay!" she said, smiling. "I don't think I have anything else to ask..." she said, but pondered on that statement. She did have things to ask, but those were already refused.

"Okay." The female got to her feet. "You two play with each other then, I'll go gather us some lunch. Okay? Stay here though...." She nodded her head and turned around, trotting off to gather some food.

Heron stared. "Bye then, Mum.." He turned to Dawn and wiggled his butt in the air, getting ready to pounce Dawn.

Azure was picking berries at a bush nearby, listening to her conversation she had with the kits. They were talking about her? Love equally? But... Azure was Citrus's real daughter, not some step-child! She felt angry... Maybe it was Voodoo's conversations getting to her. She kept running into him... Why? She sighed, mindlessly walking away form the bush and out into the open. Citrus wasn't here, but... The kits were. And she could tell one of them noticed her already. She bit her lip. Would they reconize her from the description? She pondered turning around and running off... Then tey'd tell Citrus! She couldn't be found out! But would she believe them?

Questions, questions, questions... She stood there frozen, wondering what her uncle would do in this situation. What would Voodoo do? Obviously try to harm them... But she wasn't like Voodoo... Was she? She was so confused...

Dawn was getting into her pouncing position, but then stopped. "Wait..." she said, looking in Azure's direction as she ran away. "An eevee just ran away... It looked like Azure!" she said, stunned. She couldn't be alive... Could she? it was probably her imagination. Either that or it was someone else.

"I saw her too! Do you think that was really, you know... Azure? Maybe our eyes are playing tricks on us now, thanks to Momma Citwus' story..." He was in disbelief. What to believe?! "Wanna go after her? Momma said not to.... But..."

[[ *pretends like Azure ran away.* >: ]]

Befire she knew it, her feet carried her away to safety. What was she thinking?! She closed her eyes, panting softly. Azul was next to her.

Azul blinked. "Something happened?" he asked, leaning close to her.

"I... was nearly.... caught by step-sibs," she responded through gasps.

"Yeah!" Dawn agreed. "Let's go after Azure. It's a must to find out if Azure is still alive... That would make Mommy so happy!" She could just imagine Citrus's face after hearing her child was alive. Dawn started to trot off and said, "Let's go!"

Heron grinned. " 'Kay!" He dashed off in Azure's direction, the opposite dirrection there mom had gone. He didn't know where he was headed and possibly where Azure went, but they'd run into her eventually, right?

Citrus had arrived back, a basket filled with berries in her mouth. Scanning the area, se no kits... Her jaw dropped, the basket falling and crashing on the ground, berried scattering everywhere. But her sights weren't on the berries, rather where the heck were those two children! "DAWN! -- HERON!" she practically screamed, sniffing the ground to try and catch their scent, but it was mixed with so many unfamiliar scents, different pokemon, humans...

What was she going to do!? She felt like screaming even louder and crying! What would Chase tell her? She was a terrible mother for losing not one, but two of her step-children?! Her heart pounded one-hundred miles a second, and she felt herself rushing towards a random direction, heart in her throat, screaming their names 'til she was hoarse.

Azure finally grasped composure. "Uncle, let's get out of here..." she said softly, trotting further away from the direction she came. She listened to Azure's steps softly pad against the ground, following hers that was around the same volume, maybe softer.

Chase was in the middle of scouting the area for Voodoo. There had been a few random attacks he had heard of on different kinds of pokemon, so now he was invetigating the places where he had heard they had happened. He didn't see much. "The zombie is making work over time lately.." He mumbled to himself and sighed. Having kids didn't help either. Don't get him wrong, he loved his children, but he didn't get much time to himself or to spend with Citrus. He would love to settle down somewhere... continue to raise his children and maybe have some more the RIGHT way with Citrus... but, no, he had a job to do. He felt guilty asking Citrus to watch the children all the time too. Ciro was with Ryder and Midnight was with Chiro at the moment, but Citrus was watching both Dawn and Heron. He should probably return to her soon and take them off her paws. "I'm the worst mate ever..." He mumbled.

Voodoo was curled up under a tree near a river. He shivered as he watched the water swarm by. Rivers brought back bad memories, the kind of memories no one should remember. He began to scratch at his own skin again. Voodoo was begining to lose himself... despite the full moon slowly going away, he wasn't getting better. Something was wrong with him. Something had stirred the darker part of him and it didn't want to go away for once. He couldn't fight it though. No. He had given up on that long ago. It was just the way he was. 'I need to find her.... I can create so much destruction with her... I can feel it..." He heard himself say. Was that him? He couldn't really tell... at least Azul was away. He would no longer hurt his friend anymore. Things could of been a lot worse...

Dawn was running as fast as she could, beginning to pant, since Azure was obviously an adult and faster than they were. "Do you have any idea where she went?" she asked Heron. After getting farther away from where they were resting at, she thought about what would happen if Citrus found out, which was likely, and they didn't find Azure. They would be in a LOT of trouble!

Heron stopped the movement of his legs, skidding until he stopped. Loose dirt went flying around the two. "Not really... I was just running in a random direction..." He paused, feeling the realization that they were alone. "I want Mommy Citwus..." he whispered, huddling close to Dawn. "Should we continue looking, rwest, or go back...?" He wasn't even sure if he knew the correct way back home.. Heron shuddered at the thought of being stranded. And... What if there were wild pokemon out there, ready to attack him and Dawn, like in Citrus's story! He gasped. "I think we should head back, Dawny! I'm really scared..." The word STRANDED and LOST echoed in his head, frightening him all the more. "Do you know the way back, Dawny?"

The scared step-mother frantically ran all over, her hoarse voice calling the two in soft whispers. Why was she so stupid?! Why didn't she tell the two to come with her?! Stupid... STUPID! She felt tears stream down her cheeks. And it was just her luck... She saw something dark read headed her way, so she assumed it was Heron until she came closer with the sudden realization it wasn't. "H-Heron?" her voice called out, but as she was face to face, she realized it was Chase. This reality was turning into an unrealistic nitemare... "Ch-Chase!" she said once she was a foot distance between the two. What was he going to think of her now? She bit her tongue, staring at her mate with her one gold and one pink eyes... What would she tell him?

Azure and Azul's footsteps haulted at the river. Taking a deep breath, the younger female signaled Azul to go into an easy walk. They wouldn't be found... Afterall, if the kits did follow, how far could they go? Not far at all. She reassured herself. Feeling the shade of the trees, she calmly walked down the riverside, gazing at the river beside her. But the further she went, she discovered a wreaking smell, rotten skin and decay.

Voodoo.

The voice echoed in her head and as she gazed as Azul, she saw his knowledge of whose presence it was. Azul had made a loud gulp and looked fearful. He was afraid of what was once his only friend, the one he had feelings for! She understood how he felt, but they couldn't head ack, and both of them knew it.

Tilting her head high, she walked with pride, not even trying to glance at Voodoo as they started to approach him. Her uncle behind her was the complete opposit though, head hanging, tail dragging, and many glances at the zombie as they approached.

Chase spotted the spot of green that was coming near him. He knew it was Citrus right away. He smiled at her and quickened his step. "Just who I was coming to see. Sorry I took so long. Work has gone on over time lately..." He smiled and looked behind her for the other two he had come to get. "Now where is Heron and Dawn? I think Midnight is free right now. She mentioned being able to watch the three if you want a break..." He frowned. Something was wrong. Citrus wasn't looking the way she usually did. "Is everything alright? The zombie didn't attack you, did he?"

Voodoo raised his head as he heard the other two coming nearer to him. Onle his red eye seemed to focus on them while the other eye just seemed to space out in their direction. He wasn't sure how to react. Azure had "returned to him" while she brought Azul along with him. "Well isn't this a treat? I get the one who I want here with hte one I don't want. Har Har... how funny."
