He stood there, blinking, but he smiled and returned the hug just as much, "come on, lets get as far away from this cabin as possible," he turned around to look at the fireplace, but it was already out. He didn't want to question how it could've happened, he just grabbed his cloak and ran out of the cabin putting it on in the process. The air outside felt great, he couldn't help but jump with happiness just because he was outside. He began to calm down and focus, he didn't know which direction they could take now, left or right, it was hard to decide, which would lead to the most amount of adventure?
"Seh'ethil? You choose where we should go, I can't decide" he said, scratching his head. |
((Love the new avatar! Loved the old one too. That's a really nice cosplay of him~))
Seh'ethil followed Link out of the cabin eagerly, also quite happy to be free of it. After what'd happened, it had quite bad vibes to it. The elf seemed a bit superstitious as it was, the ghosts hadn't helped. "What would you do without me?" Seh'ethil joked, looking in each direction to where they might go next. His ear twitched slightly and he pivoted on his heel to their right. He started walking the way he'd turned to, as if even without saying anything that meant he'd decided 'that way.' After a fair ways of aimless wandering, there seemed to be no change, and still no definite land mark in sight. Seh'ethil seemed a bit tired, stopping for a second to give his feet a break. "We should rest," The elf suggested, assuming his friend might also be a bit tired out after the encounter with the ghosts, especially without having much of a break in between that and the sea creature from before. Seh'ethil slipped his pack off to the ground, along with his bow, glad to drop the extra weight. It was getting slightly dark out, although it wasn't that late, perhaps only from the sun being covered by a fresh cloud, left over from the storm. The area around them seemed to glow slightly with fungus, and small fairies illuminated sections of the dark. The fairies went on to mind their business, not bothering the two. However, the elf had to chase one off when it became too curious in his leather sack, trying to take something from inside. "Come sit, Link," Seh'ethil said, grabbing one of Link's hands with both of his. The elf then propped himself up against a heavy tree trunk, with his stuff. He pulled Link down beside him lightly. "It's sort of enchanting," the elf mentioned, referring to the lights of the fairies and the radiant glow around them. For a moment, it seemed peaceful. As he spoke, Seh'ethil leaned in towards Link, and kissed him softly. |
((Thanks, this was my original cosplay before I got bored and decided to get a different outfit. I also have a red Link avatar too. xD))
"Yeah, it is nice here, reminds me of hom-" he stopped talking after Seh'ethil kissed him, looking a bit shocked and nervous, "uh, um..." he stuttered, "maybe theres some food around here, you hungry?" He looked around but couldn't find any fruit trees, it was like he wanted to get up and run away, just to find something else to do for a little while by himself. "How about you set up the beds and I'll find you some food, that alright?" he hopped up, landing on his feet and he jogged off before Seh'ethil could answer, he took a quick right turn and hid behind some trees, his face was a bit red. "He kissed me... again, why? I'm starting to think I don't truly know Seh'ethil... oh, what am I thinking?!" He thought to himself, he almost said it out loud. He came out from his hiding place and headed to the left, this time to not raise suspicion he really went to find food. He soon caught sight of a giant white tree with pink leaves, there were peaches hanging off its branches, so he gave the tree a good punch, knocking down some fruits. He carried as many as his arms would allow and started to head back, still not over the shock of what had happened, when he was back at the camp site he placed the peaches on a clean patch of ground for Seh'ethil. |
((Really? Haha that's great! Maybe I'll get to see it sometime.))
Seh'ethil, watching Link run off, got up to go make beds as had been suggested. He sighed lightly as he began to gather leaves, and even some moss to soften the ground. The elf's ears drooped down slightly, he was feeling a bit heart broken. He wondered if it hadn't been a bad idea to make any advancement, and then further questioned if Link was even coming back. Just as Seh'ethil had managed to collect and put together the bases of the two beds, the fairies jumped in to intervene. They picked up the leaves, the moss, everything he'd taken, and slowly replaced it, as if they even understood where every little speck of dirt should be placed. The elf seemed a little distraught, maybe even annoyed at the tiny forest denizens. Yet, before he could put any more thought into them now being pests, the fairies began to prove themselves otherwise. The small fairies bumped into Seh'ethil's back and collar, getting his attention. He looked around at them, surprised, and a few of them giggled lightly. They began to bump into him again, pushing him around. At first, the elf thought they wanted him gone. Yet, he later found they were rather trying to lead him somewhere. Not far off from where they currently were, the fairies playfully showed Seh'ethil a patch of trees with large, almost palm-like leaves. The elf grinned, for not only had the small forest sprites gotten his mind off any feeling of rejection, they'd showed him something that'd work better for bedding. The leaves were fairly low-hanging, and Seh'ethil didn't have to climb that high to pick a couple off. They were taller than he was, and sturdy, but light enough that he managed to carry them back to the previously marked resting spot. "Diola lle," Seh'ethil said, waving to the fairies. It was a thank you, for showing him the leaves. The elf then tied the leaves in between tree branches that dipped close to the ground. They were like makeshift hammocks, and as Seh'ethil climbed in one, they also seemed incredibly comfortable. He slowly started to doze off, tired from the day, awaking only when Link had returned. He was glad to see him again, considering his previous fear that he might have just left. "I made you a bed..." He mentioned, sleepily, still only half awake. |
"Oh... thank you. I appreciate it" he said, scratching the back of his neck, "I found you some fruits if you're hungry... I'm sorry if I, you know, hurt your feelings." He couldn't find the words to describe how he felt at that moment, but he didn't feel like trying to so he climbed into his bed and got comfortable. Crickets began to chirp and giggling fairies could be heard all around, the calm surroundings made Link's eye lids droop, though he tried his best not to he ended up falling asleep once more.
After an hour or so he was tossing and turning in his bed, his bad dreams just never seemed to stop. His current dream was he and Zelda were running towards each other through the lush Hyrulian fields, but all of a sudden Ganon appeared behind Zelda and stabbed her through her back out the front of her stomach. Link stopped in shock, Zelda was as limp as a rag doll, bleeding badly, the green fields began to burn and die, all Ganon did was laugh as Zelda slid down the sword, landing on the ground. Ganon disappeared then reappeared in front of Link and grabbed him by the neck, lifting off the ground, choking him. Ganon then stabbed Link in the chest, the instant he died in his dream who woke up shouting, sitting up he held his forehead, he was sweating and shivering. He laid back in bed, certainly wide awake now. "I never knew that a dream could frighten me so..." |
The elf, tired and unsure of how to respond to Link, simply stayed quiet until he could fall back asleep. Shortly after he woke up again, looking over to the pile of peaches Link had brought. Seh'ethil, not paying attention, ended up falling out of his hammock. It had, to say the least, made him more alert. He got up, his hands and knees digging into the damp ground underneath him, and then stood up completely. Brushing himself off, the elf decided to help himself to one of the fruits.
As he did, a curious little fairy came to join him. Seh'ethil offered it a bite, and although it took such a small mouthful the elf could see no difference, it accepted the offer. A few others came, and then more, also wanting to be given some of the sweet fruit. He gladly gave them one for themselves, and finished his own off, crawling back into his bed and going back to sleep. One of the fairies tried to wake him up again, tugging at his ear. It hadn't gotten him up, but Link's thrashing and shouting from his nightmare had. Seh'ethil sat up, concerned, surprised that Link had fallen asleep once again. "Are you okay, Link..?" He asked softly, not wanting to further startle him. |
"Yeah... I'm alright, I'm sorry for waking you up if I did... I gotta take a breather" he got up out of his hammock and walked away, a couple fairies tugged at his shirt, trying to lead him somewhere. He followed them and they led him to a pond of fresh water, he got down on one knee and splashed some water in his face to help calm him down. His nightmare wouldn't leave his mind, the image of Ganon killing Zelda was all he could see, even in his reflection in the pond. He could almost feel Ganon stabbing him, but in truth, it was his wound acting up again, he almost fell face first in the water but he fell backward instead. Scaring the fairies away.
He could hardly talk it hurt so much, but Midna could sense it and she revealed herself, unbuttoned his shirt and used her magic on his wound. "Link, maybe we should cut back on the sleeping huh?" She said, sounding a bit worried, "I saw your whole dream, it even scared me too, but I hate to see you upset... please, no more sleeping, okay?" She said, holding his hand. Despite how weak he currently was, he smiled, "I'll try Midna... I'll try, thank you." She smiled and help button his shirt back up, she gave him a hug and she disappeared, giving Link his shadow back. Though he quickly felt better and didn't return to the resting site instantly, he instead climbed up a tree and laid back on top of a sturdy branch against the tree. He needed some alone time with the night sky, nothing else made him feel more relaxed. "I just have the strangest feeling something bad is going to happen tomorrow..." He thought to himself, which put a frown on his face. |
((Is that your red one? It's also wonderful!))
Seh'ethil nodded, leaving Link be. Worried, he'd almost wanted to follow, but understood Link was probably better comforted alone. So instead, the archer fell back to sleep. The next time the elf opened his eyes, it was dawn. Light was shining into his face, forcing him to blink a few times and then rub his eyes as they adjusted. The fairies were still around, yet seemed to be harder to notice, without the dark to illuminate them. The elf got out of bed, and then looked towards Link's. He wasn't there, but instead of worry more, Seh'ethil assumed he'd just be back soon. The archer put some of the left over peaches in his pack, and left the rest for the fairies, if they wanted them. As he picked up his bow and pack, placing them once again on his back, he noticed he hadn't needed to clean up the camp like last time, as the task had already been completed during the night. At first Seh'ethil wondered if Link had done it, but remembering the fairy's apparent knack for cleaning the spot, assumed it had been them. Seh'ethil hung around the spot for a while in case Link was to return, eventually deciding to go for a walk and look for him. "Namaarie..." He whispered to the fairies, bidding them fairwell. The area was quite soothing, yet somehow more eerie now in the day than it had been before. |
Though he promised Midna he wouldn't fall asleep, he ended up nodding off anyway, a bird flew over and landed on his shoulder, it chirped in his ear, scaring him awake. He ended up falling out of the tree and into some bushes right next to Seh'ethil, leaves flew everywhere and he slowly got back up on his feet, brushing leaves off his head, "yep... thats a nice to start the way" he mumbled angrily. Link soon noticed Seh'ethil standing in front of him, he laughed nervously, "good morning Seh'ethil, sleep well? Uh, *ahem* so, shall we continue our travels?" You could hear some of the fairies laughing in the distance at Link's embarrassment.
|
Seh'ethil had jumped back startled at Link's landing, almost drawing his bow before realizing who it was that had fallen into the bushes. He smirked, almost adding to the the fairy's laughter, but refrained, really more glad to see Link if anything.
"Of course," The elf said, joining Link to walk on. As they walked Seh'ethil was sure he had spotted wild horse in the distance, yet paid no further mind to them, only smiling to himself after admiring them. It wasn't long before they were approaching an open field, and it spread across quite far, although there was the vague signs of ruins or perhaps even civilization in the distance past it. "Are you doing alright?" The archer asked randomly, knowing the previous night must have been quite torturous for his friend. |
Link had spaced out for a second but shook his head and came back to reality, "huh? Oh, yeah, I'm alright..." His nightmare was all he could think about, "I just have a bit of a headache is all, no big deal." The instant he took a step into the grassy field, thousands of flowers began to bloom, there were red ones, blue ones, yellow ones, practically any color you could imagine, it was like he had stepped into a dream world. In the distance a little girl could be seen, she had blue short hair, pink eyes, a green dress with white frills and black shoes on.
"Hello! Welcome to my garden of dreams!" The little girl said, giggling innocently,"won't you play with me?" She asked Link, titling her head and smiling sweetly. Link didn't speak, in fact, it was like he lost all control of his body and mind, he was hypnotized, he began to walk toward the little girl. "Sure, I will play with you" he said monotone, with a smile on his face. "Won't you play with me too?" She asked, looking at Seh'ethil, since he didn't take a step into the field it didn't affect him. |
"Link!" Seh'ethil called after him, realizing something was horribly wrong with the entire situation. He was about to take a step forward to grab his friend, realizing just in time that he shouldn't.
The elf looked around and paniced, before pulling out his bow. "We won't play with you, little girl!" Seh'ethil said, referring to both him and Link, even if Link had already made his answer, the elf knew he wasn't in right mind. First the archer aimed an arrow towards the little girl, but the innocent look on her face forced him to move it else where. "Link.." He said again, his voice softening. Seh'ethil shot the field near Link's feet, wishing he could snap him out of the girl's trance. The arrow was quickly wrapped by vines and flowers, and then consumed by the ground beneath it, being pulled into it. The archer, having nothing else left to resort to, then shot at the girl. The arrow disappeared right before his very eyes, just as it was about to hit her. Still smiling, she repeated herself, "Play with me!" Seh'ethil was at a loss of words. It was as if the girl was completely ignoring the attack, and further completely shielded by her 'garden of dreams,' as she called it. The girl took a step forwards, towards Link, and giggled. What would usually be sweet, innocent laughter sounded maniacal to the elf, his mind racing for a way to save his friend. He turned in every direction to look for something that might assist him, yet found nothing. As Link and the girl came closer, she reached her hand out to him. Seh'ethil tried one last arrow, yet it had only the same effect as the previous. Having nothing left to do, and refusing to give up, the elf ran into the field. The girl giggled again, despite that she seemed more preoccupied with Link's presence, her field still held its own against Seh'ethil. However, it seemed to have a very different effect. The elf held his consciousness, although as he neared the two, it became harder. Flowers rooted up and wrapped around his feet and ankles, further curling up his legs, making each step more difficult. Just before he got to Link, the archer was nearly completely covered from the waist down, forcing him immobile. The roots reached up around his chest and back, and then retreated back down when they hit the leather pack slung around his back, as if viciously burned. Seh'ethil, trying hard to fight back the overtaking force of the girl's hypnotism, slowly caught onto what had forced the enchanted flowers away. 'The peaches...? he thought to himself, not thinking such a little fruit would have any effect. Since the roots had withdrawed back to his waist, the elf was just barely able to pull his pack around. One of the peaches dropped out and onto the ground, and the grass around it wilted, and became barren. The other Seh'ethil grabbed out, and took a bite. It didn't seem like any time to be eating, yet, as he had hoped, the effect of the peach weakened the flowers binding him. He took one last step forward, and grabbed Link's shoulder before he could step any further towards the girl. "Link.. wake up!" The elf cried, "She's evil!" Seh'ethil tried to pull Link back, thinking any distance from the girl would help, but he was barely successful. "Let's play, now," The girl demanded. Her expression was as kind as ever, but her voice held a very wicked tone. |
Link stood there, motionless, with a blank expression on his face, the girl reached for his hand, her sweet smile turned evil and twisted, her eyes began to glow red. Little did she know that thanks to Seh'ethil yelling in Link's ear he managed to break free of the girl's trance. When she got close enough he drew his sword and cut the little girl down the middle, splitting her in half. Her red eyes turned to a solid white and as she fell to the ground the earth began to shake and soon all the plant life began to wither and die. In its last attempt to drag Link and Seh'ethil to their deaths, weeds wrapped around their ankles, but since the whole field was dying they were able to break free easily.
They ran as fast as they could across the field and jumped onto still lush and green land, skidding across the ground. The girl's dead body sank into the ground and after a minute or two, a black rose with a blue stem began to sprout where she was once at. It was the only living thing left in the field, only time will tell if more plant life will return, hopefully normal flowers and grass. Link got up, wiping off any dirt on his clothes and he gave Seh'ethil a hug, "thank you friend, you saved my life..." |
Seh'ethil, feeling almost in a state of shock, could do no more than stare off into the once extravagant field, now withered into nothing more than waste land. His eyes stayed locked on the rose, his heart still pounding. They'd just narrowly avoided their doom.
A bit more color returned to the elf's face as Link hugged him, and Seh'ethil was quick to hug him back, almost squeezing him before stepping back. "I.. I-.." He stuttered, and then shook his head and cleared his throat. Since he couldn't find the words, the archer merely smiled. He knew he couldn't take credit, for he felt it had actually been Link to save them both in the end, but he didn't have the voice to deny it. Seh'ethil was about to make another attempt at speaking, when he suddenly realized they were not alone. In fact, nearly surrounded. Out of no where had appeared dozens of people, all of different shapes, sizes, race. One in particular stood out, taking a step forward. It was a small girl, much like the one that'd just threatened their lives, however, much more average in apperance. "Thank-you," She said, smiling with, this time, sincere sweetness towards them both. The people around her seemed to display the same form of apperciation. As Seh'ethil stepped backwards, in disbelief, he accidently bumped into one of them. And as he did, the entire crowd disappeared. A soft breeze seemed to blow their very essence away, carrying them with it. The girl stayed only slightly longer to explain what had happened, before leaving the same way as the rest did. "We've been trapped for a very long time..." She said. "You've freed us." When her soul had moved on, Seh'ethil stared out and towards the ruins he'd before seen in the distance, wondering if it hadn't once been a populated village, before the malicious spirit they'd just warded off got to them. "Link. I wouldn't ever leave you," Seh'ethil said, finding his voice. He paused for a while and then continued, as if it might have been awkward had he not added what he did: ".... We're friends, after all." |
Link didn't really think the hug through, but he didn't care, he was so grateful to Seh'ethil. Though he couldn't help but feel bad for the innocent villagers, "if only we could've got here a bit sooner... we could've saved them." He turned around to take a look at the decaying ruins of their homes, "maybe someone has managed to stay alive?" He asked, trying to deny the fact that everyone could be gone. He began to look around the village, some houses had collapsed roofs, while others had giant holes in the walls, it was a bit depressing, he couldn't see anything that looked edible around. "How long could they have been trapped here...?" He asked himself, feeling sad.
He looked in some of the houses, you could see skeletons of adults and children in every house, it was a bit too much to drink in at once. "Why couldn't they have just left?" He asked himself, he looked around more and his question was answered, in the vast amount of dead trees around, there was an entrance to a desert. Some trees were bent backwards from the rush of the dry winds and sand was piled up all the way to the top of the trunks. "We should come back after we get more prepared, we need to cross that desert, theres sure to be life even there." |
"Unfortunate..." Seh'ethil said, his voice trailing off in both sympathy and respects for the passed on villagers. He ran his hand across the rough corners of one of the houses edges, pulling it back only after being pricked on a particularly sharp point.
The elf looked on into the vast desert before them, its dry winds seemed to be calling to them, almost beckoning. "Yes," Seh'ethil agreed, still a bit lost in thought and thusly short of words. He hated to pillage from the villagers, but already started to look around the houses for anything that might be of assistance to them in their journeys. For all it was worth, Seh'ethil figured their souls would still rest in peace. The archer, after running around and doing some looking, came out of one of the left over structures with a blanket like cloth. He took a small knife off his person and cut into the material, stuffing the excess into his bag and then tying the rest around his neck. The cloth was quite long, and now scarf like. When they planned to go into the desert, Seh'ethil would have it to wrap around his face, as to shield it from the sands. "Where do you think the nearest town is?" Seh'ethil asked, hoping for somewhere, where people still prospered healthily. Any form of nearby civilization would hopefully prove itself helpful in preparing for the travel across the desert. The elf was already strapping a leather canteen to his belt, waiting till they might find a fresh source of water to fill it up. He would have spent more time paying further respects to the deceased villagers of where they stood now, but understood there wasn't enough time on their hands to spend life in mourning. |
"Lets head back to the forest, get some more peaches if necessary and I know where theres some water there too. The only living village near here... was the one we came from a couple days ago, we can't head back now. Seeing those kid's get upset again will just kill me a bit more inside." Link began to head back to the field, he reluctantly took his first step, some grass and flowers started to grow around his boot but they quickly died and sank into the earth. It happened each time he took a step forward, same for Seh'ethil.
They soon reached the forest and he led Seh'ethil to the fresh water pond, when they reached it he started to fill up some bottles with water, "I'll hold onto these for you, I don't need water to survive." He attached them back onto his belt, "are you alright on peaches?" He asked Seh'ethil, "if not I'll take you to the tree." |
Seh'ethil nodded his head, and then patted Link's back as if in some form of sympathy towards his care for those children. As they headed back into the forest, Seh'ethil peered down at their feet curiously, watching the flowers sprout up after each of their footfalls. He was glad, to say the least, that they were not in any apparent danger from them, this time.
Once the two reached the water the elf began to also fill up the canteen he'd found and brought with him. "Thanks Link..." He said, with a short smile, grabbing his pack off to check how many peaches he still had. Even after having dug into them earlier, it was full enough. "I'm good on peaches." Seh'ethil kneeled down in front of the pond and splashed some of the water into his face, it was rather refreshing, and, he figured it would be the last of that sort of comfort until they got through the desert. "Shall we go?" He asked, getting back to his feet and checking all of his items to ensure he had everything. The elf already began wrapping the earlier found cloth up around his face; it covered up to his eyes and then acting also as a loose hood, which dipped down to his forehead. There was still room for his ears to stick outside of the hood. Seh'ethil took another piece of the material from his bag, and tied it just above his eyes, and it covered them similar to a blindfold - save, leaving a space at the very bottom in which he could still see out of. This way, he would be ready for when they reached the desert's sandy edges once again. |
They started to head back, crossing the field and stopping just outside the desert entrance, he took the first few steps out into the open. Thankfully his hat provided some shade because the sun hit him at full force with its bright light, it was almost blinding, it made him turn his head just to get some relief. He kept going on, using his arm to help block out the sunlight, the sand-filled, hot, dry winds didn't make him feel much better, he covered himself with his cloak. It helped a little.
A scorpion crawled out of the sand right next to his foot, almost stinging him, he lifted his foot up to let it go by and find food. "At least theres some life still" he said as it scampered away, a small lizard was standing on a few rocks in their path, when it noticed them it ran away. After a few miles of walking, Link thought the heat got to him, he could see a desert oasis in the distance, though he thought it was a mirage it was actually real. He ran up to one of the trees around the small pond to sit in the shade, he sighed with relief it felt so great. He reached into the pond and flung a few palm fulls of water in his face, it was cool and refreshing. "Lets rest here till night fall, at least the sun will go down then." He said to Seh'ethil as he laid back and covered his eyes with his hat to relax against a tree. |
Seh'ethil was not at all fond of the scorching sun, or the hot sands that rest beneath their feet. He was definately not a creature of the desert. The elf looked at Link and could tell he didn't seem much happier to be in the dry heat. He stopped few times to take a drink from his canteen, momentarily re hydrating himself in the painfully hot desert.
When they reached the oasis Seh'ethil also ran to it, using what little energy he had to do so; the rest of his stamina had been drained away by the sun. He nearly collapsed as they reached it, pulling down the bottom portion of his cloth-mask so he might take another drink of water, and then refill a near emptying canteen with the oasis's. The elf simply laid in the shade, keeping close to the wet sand near the water which was much less hot than that which surrounded them. He hadn't at the moment the will to speak, so he just rested, agreeing to Link's idea to wait so that they might later enjoy the cooler weather of the desert night. When night fall came the temperature certainly spiked down, although the winds stayed relentless and never failed to whip sand in every which direction. Seh'ethil almost feared a storm. He looked up from his spot by the oasis and saw in the distance a small burning fire, as well a tendril of smoke drifting up into the nights' sky from it. "Look, Link, there must be others there..." The elf said, making mention towards the distant fire in case his friend had not yet noticed it. Despite the possible worry of bandits, Seh'ethil decided to move on towards it, assuming Link would come along. The weather became calmer as they approached the others' campsite. As he got closer he could see what looked like two people sitting around the fire, as well as their horses, which were wild, whining as if something horrible was amongst them. The people, however, did not move. In fact, something seemed wrong about the entire situation. By the time the elf was perhaps only ten feet from the people's marked spot, he knew something was not right, as they were paying no attention to his presence. He walked up to one of the people, and his feared suspicions came true as he touched their back, only to have them fall over. It was a fresh corpse, both of them had, had their throats slit. Of course, this could only mean that whoever had done it wasn't far off, for the blood was still fresh and the fire still going. "Link, we should move on..." Seh'ethil said. He laid one of the bodies back and closed its eyes with his fingers, leaving it in some respects. The elf did the same for the second, and then for a third which he hadn't noticed as it had been already laying down. Two were men, but one was a woman, and, asides from their clothes and their horses, they seemed to be stripped of their valuables. Seh'ethil began to untie one of the horses from the post it was stuck to, first trying to sooth it and calm it down so that he might not get trampled in the process. He climbed up onto the horse, leaving the other for Link. It took a second for him to get used to riding, especially in the desert sand. He made a short loop around the campsite, to help steady himself. "It wouldn't be right to leave the horses here... We might as well use them, for now." |
After Link calmed down his own horse he climbed on its back, petting its head, "good boy" he said, trying to keep it relaxed. Despite the roaring winds blowing sand everywhere, he could make out the faint indentations of footprints, possibly from the thief. "Come on, since they were out here there must be civilization somewhere." His horse ran off in full gallop, following the footprints, they had to move fast before they were covered up by the sands. The light of the moon helped guide them, after a while he pulled on the horses reigns to make it stop, he could see more torches in the distance. The footprints led them to a small town, possibly a trading port for other towns far out in the vast desert.
When they reached the town he got off his horse and helped guide it to a stable for other traveler's camels and horses. The other animals were asleep, but his horse wasted no time and approached the watering hole to drink its fill. Leaving his horse to rest he went off to explore the town and find the thief, he saw a shadow run behind some buildings, so he quietly followed. But the thief caught sight of Link and he began to run, Link followed swiftly behind, no matter where the thief ran he never left Link's sight. The thief ran into a dead end, finally stuck Link ran toward him, tackling him to the ground and getting him in a headlock. "Let me go!" The thief demanded, his face was covered with scarves, all you could see were his eyes, but he sounded like he was very young. "Seh'ethil, I got him!" He shouted so Seh'ethil would find him. "I wouldn't struggle so much" Link said to the thief, trying to not lose his grip "I can snap your neck right now if I felt like it!" The thief calmed down after hearing him say that. Link left the alley, dragging the thief with him out into the open. |
The elf patted his horse's side lightly, yet hard enough to get it going. He chased after Link, following the foot prints till they might find the culprit. As they rode up to the not far off town, Seh'ethil wasn't sure if they hadn't just lost their thief. Yet, his friend was in hot pursuit of him.
Seh'ethil got off his horse and followed after Link as fast as he could, allowing it its freedoms to do as it pleased amongst the other animals and in the town. The elf had lost track of where Link had ran off to, but was soon reassured by Link's shout, showing him their where abouts. The elf ran towards the two, looking the thief up and down. The town was big but Seh'ethil assumed it was exactly who they were looking for, as not only did he seem guilty but most others had not been out so late. "How could you kill those people?!" Seh'ethil questioned. His usually calm voice seemed more enraged, backed by his now ever present morals. "It's one thing to steal, but..." He trailed off, unable to finish in disgust. The archer would have kicked dirt into the thief's eyes had Link not been restraining him. He looked away, and then to Link. "Should we even allow him to explain himself?" |
"We should, it'd be bad if we let him go and he is our culprit" the thief kept struggling, trying to break free, but as he struggled his scarves fell off his face, revealing his identity. He looked to be no older than 15, he had a scar under his left eye and a tattoo under his right of a scarab beetle. "Let me go, right now!" He demanded, he grabbed the knife tied to his belt and he tried to stab Link with it, making Link let him go, he started running toward the exit gate but Link tackled him once more and grabbed the knife, taking it from his hand. Using his foot to hold him down Link grabbed his sword and pointed it at the kid's face, "explain yourself, right now! Or this will be the last day on Earth!" Link demanded.
"Alright! I will! Just let me up!" He said, sounding sincere, Link slowly let him back up, prepared to pin him down again in case he lied. The thief sat up, brushing off any sand in his face turned to face Link and Seh'ethil, "my name is Alikah, and yes, I killed those people... but not on purpose, they stole something from me themselves. An important family heirloom that I was put in charge of ever since my father died, I've brought him dishonor for having lost it... and I don't want to bring it anymore telling you what its used for!" He ran as fast as he could, busting through the exit gate, Link unfortunately couldn't grab him in time so he began to follow him through the desert. As they ran after him you could see a pyramid in the distance, "why would be heading there...?" He thought to himself. |
Seh'ethil ran with Link after the thief, surprised he could justify himself, yet even more surprised at how young he was. The archer would have shot an arrow at the kid if only to immobilize him, yet, the desert winds would have set any of his arrows off course. Without the promise of steady aim, the elf didn't want to risk accidentally injuring the thief more than what he would have intended.
When they reached the pyramid Alikah had already entered it and left them behind to the sands. Seh'ethil paused for a second, taking in the size of the great pyramid. To him, it was just an odd looking temple; his knowledge of the world wasn't grand enough to have even heard about such things in the past. "Should we still follow him?" Seh'ethil asked, but as he looked at Link he already knew the answer and prepared to find the entrance. It was hidden by shadows, but there seemed to be nothing else other than the dark blocking their path. Once they'd made it far enough inside, torches hung from the walls and lit their way. The elf caught a glimpse of the child-thief in a room ahead of him, he seemed to have activated some form of hidden passage and went behind a wall, which soon closed after him. Seh'ethil ran towards where the thief had just entered, hitting the wall with his fist only to find that it would not budge, and was no longer a door, but solid stone. He looked around quickly in attempts to figure out how the thief had gotten passed. |
"Maybe he used that heirloom he talked about earlier?" Link mentioned to Seh'ethil as he helped try to find a way in. With no solution to the issue Link started to jump back and then ran toward the wall, he kicked it with all his strength, breaking up the stone bricks. Thankfully it didn't do much damage to the overall structure, just the stone door. The bricks collapsed into a pile of rubble, revealing the passage. Unfortunately there were no torches to light their paths, he began to wonder how the child-thief could make it through the dark corridors on his own. In the dark hallway he began to focus, making the Triforce mark on the back of his hand glow, it was a bright enough light to help them see.
Using the Triforce to help navigate them through the seemingly infinite number of paths and hallways, running into spike traps and sometimes poisonous beetles, they made it into a giant chamber. "Thank god theres some light here" said Link, a little tired from using the Triforce's energy for so long. Ahead of them, up a stone staircase was Alikah, he placed a red crystal into an indentation in the wall, making two stone doors slide off to the side, revealing a smaller chamber full of treasure and gold. He ran inside and the doors closed behind him, "ugh... not again" Link mumbled, you could hear how annoyed he was by the sound of his voice. |
