"Yeah, right," Draco said and grabbed her hand. "Okay, let's go." He pulled her in the direction of the Ravenclaw dorm. He didn't even know why he knew where it was. He had never cared much for Ravenclaws.
She followed him, hand in hand. She would remember the directions they took so she wasn't so helpless anymore. "Thank you for helping he find me way." She said, appreciatively. She really didn't want a repeat of the night before. That hadn't particularly been any fun.
"Uh, yeah, whatever," Draco said, trying not to get too sentimental and mushy. He yawned and scratched his head. "Yeah, well, good night, Angel." He was really tired. The sooner he got to bed, the better. He might not even get up the next morning. He'd probably end sleeping through breakfast. Maybe even first period.
She nodded. "Good night Draco." Angelique said. She liked his calling her Angel. No one else did, so that was fine with her. "Sleep well." She said. She shyly kissed him before saying the password and going in.
Draco stood there a moment after she left, completely frozen. Of course, he'd kissed her twice before, bu she'd never really kissed him back. And the first time was just to get her to shut up. He shook his head and went back to his own dorm.
He barely found his own dorm, he was so tired. And as soon as he was near his bed, he fell into it, asleep before he hit the pillow. |
Angelique, however, didn't have that choice just yet. She had homework. Try as she might, she couldn't quite avoid homework in some of her tougher classes. And so she was up about an extra two hours before finally she set an alarm and went to sleep.
Draco didn't wake up until halfway through breakfast the next morning. He rushed to get to the great hall so he could grab some breakfast before class. Everyone else was already there, obviously. He took his seat next to Crabbe and Goyle and grabbed a scone. He had nearly forgotten the happenings of the night before, but then he caught sight of Harry. Malfoy growled and then scanned the tables for Angelique.
Angelique was sitting at the end of her table, but she wasn't moving much. She had her head in her arms and was sleeping like a rock. Her breakfast had went untouched. She was tired. So she slept. How she could sleep through the noise of all the other students, the world may never know. But she did.
Draco finally found her, and she was sleeping. He pushed back from the table, ready to go to her, but then remembered everyone else was in the room. It would not be very good for his reputation to be seen with the half-blood veela.
"What are you doing, Draco?" Crabbe and Goyle asked through mouthfuls. "Nothing," Draco grumbled and sat back down. But, he knew Potter would leak his and Angelique's relationship. It was inevitable. Draco stood up again. If it was going to be leaked, Draco would leak it when he wanted to. So, he went and sat down next to her. He put his hand on her back and rubbed it. "Hey, Angelique, wake up," he whispered. |
She jumped and sat up. "The ban of Experimental breeding was inacted in 1965 by Newt Scamander." She recited, startled, as she looked around. "Oh... I'm not in class... Whoopsies..." She said, looking at him with an embarrassed grin. "Sorry about that..." She said. "I didn't sleep much last night."
Draco laughed. "I can see that," he said. The great hall seemed to go dead quiet. Not even Peeves was making any ruckus. Everyone seemed to be watching them. It was not a normal thing, Draco Malfoy sitting at the Ravenclaw table and being nice to a Ravenclaw girl. A half-blood no less, too. He wrapped his arm around her triumphantly and looked directly at Harry Potter. Draco told himself he wouldn't kiss her unless she wanted to, because it might seem like he was using her. And he didn't kiss her now, because, although he wanted to, and she might want to, it would still seem like he was using her. But instead, he grabbed her hand and rubbed the back of it with his thumb, playing with her fingers. He heard the unanimous gasp from everyone around and chuckled to himself. Let them stare if they wanted to.
Harry looked most unpleased. Ron looked shocked and appalled. Hermione simply looked surprised. After a while, the silence broke into whispers, murmers, and gasps of disbelief. Harry made sure he was giving Malfoy the most evil glare he could manage.
Angelique smiled up at him as he placed his arm around her and took her hand. She rested her head on his shoulder, lightly. "So, did you sleep well?" She asked. |
Draco smirked at Harry and pointed to Angelique, who had leaned on him of her own will. "Very," he said, still staring at Harry. He barely even noticed Ron and Hermione. He turned his head to the side and smelled her hair. He buried his face in her hair. He felt like pulling her onto his lap and kissing her, and a few otehr things, but she was too tired. He decided to let her sleep. He tried not to move so his shoulder would make a good pillow for her.
Harry couldn't help but unleash a feral snarl of displeasure. He slammed his tray down and stood, making for the door. So help him, if he didn't he would end up jinxing the bloody head out of that snake Malfoy.
Once again, silence set in. Angelique looked up, but had missed it. All she knew is that things were quiet. So she rested her head back on his shoulder and soon fell asleep. As she slept, her think, black framed glasses slid down her knows. But she was asleep, so she didn't care. |
Draco took her glasses off and set them on the table in front of them. He laughed when Harry threw a fit. That stupid Potter was so jealous of him. He patted Angelique's head, stroking her hair.
As she slept, Malfoy examined her glasses. They had think lenses, but small frames, and they were kind of quite. He just thanked anything that was holy that she didn't have big ugly horn-rimmed glasses. |
For the rest of breakfast, Angelique slept contently. Finally, people began leaving for first period. In the commotion of everyone moving, talking, and walking, Angelique woke up again. "Oh... It's time to go, then." She said quietly. She stretched her arms out. "Hehe. I feel much better." She said with a smile. "Thank you for letting me rest." She said to him. She grabbed her bag and stood, then waited for him.
"Yeah, whatever. Here," he said, handing her her glasses. He wrapped his arm aruond her waist again and walked with her to class. As they entered, Snape was there. "Oh good, I'm so glad to see you two getting along," he said in that monotone voice. "Whatever would we have done if you two hated each other. Oh, yes, jsut give you more detention." Snape turned to walk to the front of the class. "Mr. Malfoy, since you cannot keep your hands to yourself, you will be helping me with my demonstration today. We are retrieving hippogriff fetuses." The class groaned. "And there are no gloves here." Malfoy gagged.
She winced as Snape started of by making the day hell. She thought Draco was going to lose his lunch when Snape explained their lesson. She sure felt like she was going to. She felt bad for Draco, but she knew arguing with Snape would merely get them both in trouble. She gave him an apologetic look before taking her seat at their table.
Snape went on to scold the class. "From now on, there will be no public display of affection in my class. Meaning no hugging, no kissing, no holding hands, no touching your significant other. I can assure you, they are not as significant as you believe them to be." Draco rolled his eyes and went to the front of teh class room. He helped Snape with the demonstration and took the class's laughter and humiliation. As soon as it was over, he grabbed his wand and magicked away most of the grossness. But no magic could get rid of it completely. Only good old soap and water would work. After first period, Draco skipped second period and went to take a shower. All he had was Divination second period anyway.
Angelique got sick to her stomach just watching, but tried to fight it off. However, by the time lunch rolled around, that wasn't an option. She was in there for all of a minute when the scents of food combined with her memories of that morning. Oh, poor Draco. If it was bad for her, she couldn't imagine how awful it was for him.
So, she ran for the infirmary, trying to keep herself from puking. |
By the time lunch rolled around, Draco felt much better. Especially after his bath. He walked into teh great hall and immediately looked for Angelique. He hadn't got to spend any time with her during first period on account that he was busy sticking his hand up a hippogriff's ass. But she wasn't there. He didn't know who to ask about her, seeing as the only people she had really gotten to know was Harry, Hermione, and Ron. He decided to ask another Ravenclaw girl. Girls always seemed to know where other girls were. He found out that she had been seen running to the infirmary. On his way out of the great hall, Draco grabbed a roll and scarfed it down as he headed to the infirmary.
He found Angelique laying on a bed. |
She was curled up. Upon hearing someone walk in, she looked up. "Oh. Draco. Hello..." She said quietly, keeping her head down. Beside her was a bin in case she got sick. She hadn't yet, but boy was her stomach raising hell. "How are you?" She asked.
Draco laughed. "You're asking me? You're the one in the infirmary and you're asking me how I feel?" He sat on the edge of the bed and stroked her back. "Is there anything I can get you?" He asked. Harry never showed up in the hospital for any of his friends, except that one time that Granger got petrified, and Ron got attacked by Black. But, usually, it was Harry in the hospital. He probably came out of obligation because Granger andWeasley came all the time. But Draco came the first time. Draco felt he was different from Potter, better. Potter only acted good because he was famous. "Well, we should...I don't know." He really didn't know. "Hey, uh, will you go to the uh, Winter Ball with me? It's just around the corner, and usually, guys expect their girlfriends to automatically go with them. But I thought it best to ask you first.."
She shook her head when he asked if there was anything he could get her. "No, I'll be fine." She said. His rubbing her back was calming. She listened as he asked her to go to the Yule Ball with him. She smalled. "I would like that..." She said with a smile. "But thank you for thinking to ask first. It was nice of you." She said softly as she closed her eyes. She seemed happy right now. Nevermind that Snape's class had put her in the infirmary. She still got to see Draco.
Draco picked up an apple from the tray at the end of the bed. Only food that didn't smell was there, so she could imagine they weren't there, but still eat something if she decided she was better. He tossed it up and caught it again. "Well, then, if there's nothing I can do, I'm going to go gloat to Harry that I got a date to the Yule Ball and he doesn't." He got up off the bed and started walking away backwards, still watching her.
