Shadow ran after her and looked into the water "yay this is the perfect place"

"So, I officially declare this our pack's territory!!!!" she said. "Wait, who will be Alpha?" she asked, turning to Shadow.

Shadow looked at her kindly "It doesn't matter to me who the alpha is, if you want you can be it."

"What?! I couldn't. I wouldn't be able to hold it up for long." she lay down. "Gosh darn it aren't I full o' surprises. Guess what Shadow? I'm expecting cubs."

Shadow looked at her a little bit surprised then smiled " yay your sure are full of surprises and I will be the Alpha so that I can protect you and the pups"

Hazel smiled, glad that he understood. "Good! Now, I'm hungry: let's check the prey stock here." she bounded off toward the woods, as if she had no litter weighing her down.

Shadow smiled and ran after. He never in his wildest dreams guessed that he was going to be a alpha or have a pack. But he was happy and liked Hazel. He sniffed the ground and found the sent of a deer "hey Hazel there is deer near by."

"Really?" she said. "Why sould a deer be dead without some one hunting it..." she was struck with fear.

Shadow shrugged "maybe something killed it but did not get the chance to eat it or maybe it just died? who know but I want to check it out, just incase" Shadow said as he followed the sent of the deer

Hazel followed carefully, not wanting to alert anyone, if any, they were there.

Shadow made sure that he kept alert and keep a eye on Hazel. Soon the sent of deer got stronger and they could see the deer. It was laying down on the ground dead right in the middle of a feild. Shadow slowly got closer to it and kept sniffing the ground to make sure that nothing was around. When he got right next to it he smiled happly "it is okay looks like it died of natural cause" he said as he looked at Hazel.

"Ok." she said, walking up to it. "Oh wait, you're alpha." she sat down and waited for him to eat.

Shadow smiled slightly then took a bit of it. Then smiled at her "now then you eat, you need it more then I do"

Hazel cautiously padded up and took a bite. Realizing how hungry she was, she was soon gulping down mouthfuls. When she was finally full, she stepped back and let him have some more.

Shadow smiled at her and took a few more bites. Then looked up into the sky "I think we have to be the luckyest wolves to have found this place." he said with a smile

"Well it was your bear friends." she reminded him. "Come on! I want to find a good den before night fall."

Shadow smiled and nodded "yay that sounds like a good idea."

Hazel buried some of the meat and she headed toward the lake. She looked around until she could see a small cave. She looked inside. It was nice and sandy and there was a small trickle of water near the back. "Hey Shadow! Over here is perfect!"

Shadow looked at the cave and smiled. It was a perfect place to raise pups. "yes your right it is perfect" he said with a smile

Hazel crawled inside, finding a small mossy spot. "Come in! It's so cozy!" She could just picture her pups scampering around. She smiled, they would have a pack.

Shadow came in and layed down next to her. "this is the perfect place for your pups" he said as he smiled at her

"Oh, don't think of my pups now, I still got a long was to go. But they are growing." She smiled. "I wonder why no one has ever found this place before?"

"I think it is because the bears dont let a lot of other animals threw." Shadow said as he looked at her "but there are faint sents of other wolves around here so maybe they just found other places that are better."

"Hmm, thats a little hard to believe." she mumbled. She lay her head down on her paws and started to doze off.

Shadow smiled at her when she started to fall asleep and got up. He went outside and sat down in the fornt of the cave. He wanted to get to know there new home well since this was the first time in a while that he had a home.
