"Ok now, listen closly. This is all true, I'm not making this up a bit. You see, when I met your father, He saved me, and we started traveling. Everyone thought we were mates, but I knew it wasn't true. I was already expecting you guys." They looked at her blankly. "Well, when Shadow was hunting the Mountain Lion, I wasn't giving birth to his cubs. They weren't his, I he knew that. So, he's not your father." Hazel knew that this was better than when they were grown up, then they would get all mad. They were a few weeks old, what could happen? "You mean, Alpha Person isn't our Dad?" Umay asked shyly. "Yes, Umay, that's right." Hazel confirmed. Tyson asked, "Well, why did he call me 'son'?" "I'm not sure." Hazel said truthfully. Sudden;y Tyson's eyes went real wide. "So he isn't our father?" he asked again. "Yes." He looked around the room wildly and dashed out of the den, past the wolves outside and into the woods. "Tyson!" Hazel stepped out of the den.

Shadow stood up when Tyson ran past him. He looked at Hazel "what Happend?" he asked but guess what had happend and ran after him.

Umay and Celest looked at Hazel. "When will he come back?" Celest asked. "I think Shadow can talk some sense into him." She assured them. "Come on, into bed, he'll be back by morning."

Tyson ran. He ran and ran and ran some more. He jumped over the stream they were playing by and around trees when he realized something. Without slowing he Climbed a tree and proceded from there. "He'll never find me up here!" he assured himself.

Shadow closed his eyes and followed Tyson sent. He climbed up the same tree and continued to follow him and yelled "tyson we need to talk come back."

"No!" Tyson lept across the trees, trying to avoid him. He was panting, the cub wasn't used to this sort of excercize. He wasn't paying attention and slipped, slowing for a second. He suddenly saw the edge of the forest and the mountains. "The edge of our territory!" He realized. He put on the last burst of speed and broke out of the forest, running up the small mountain.

Shadow soon opend his eyes and they were a different. They seemed to be more freakyer then usual and then he took another step and dissappered into the shadows. He reappered right infront of Tyson as if he had just walked out of the shadows and siad "we need to talk"

"Waaah!" Tyson stumbled and started running the other direction. "No we don't! Your not my dad! That's all that there was to talk about!"

Shadow Jumped over Tyson and landed infront of him. "I may not be your real father but I am here to be your step father. I call you my son because if I really did have a son I would want him to be just like you"

Tyson paused, but only for a bit. "I shouldn't have a father because the only one I want is an Alpha so I can be one too!" His pup curiosity came up. "How did you appear like that?"

Shadow looked at him "it is a trick I have learned over the years"

"I-I don't need them! I'm gonna become an Alpha! And no one will stand in my way!" He nimbly scooted under Shadow's paws and ran toward the bear's territory.

Shadow growled slightly and ramed into Tyson before he went into the bears territory. Then growled at tyson "if you are going to act like this over this little matter then you will never be able to be a alpha. A alpha has to learn to understand things before charging off into the forest alone or fighting. But never talk to your family like that" he siad as he walked over to tyson and picked him up by the nap of his neck

"Lemme go!" he said, squirming. He'd show him, he'd be the most powerful Alpha ever, and Shadow wasn't going to stop him!

Umay and Hazel were asleep, but Celest was still up. "where is he?" She wondered. "He can't run that far, I proved it when we raced that one time...."

Shadow didn't walk back to the others. He stoped walkeing when he hit a field and threw Tyson down onto the ground. "if you want to be alpha you have to learn how to fight and when not to fight. But now I show me what you got" he growled at Tyson and got ready to fight him "if you win you, I leave the pack and you lead it. If I win, you have to listen to me"

"W-what?" Fight? Now? against Alpha? He was a cub for gosh sakes! He numbly nodded.

Celest had hopped out of the den and decided she was going to take a walk. She had walked awhile when she smelled Shadow and Tyson. She saw Tysn agree to a fight. "What the?"

Shadow stood there "well attack already" he growled but knew very well that he was going to win

Tyson was a little confused, seeing that he was only a cub and Ben hadn't taught him how to fight yet......... Tyson charged.

Celest saw him running toward Alpha, and she dashed back to get her Mama. "Mama! Alpha person just challenged Tyson to a battle! And Tyson agreed!" "What?" Hazel sprang up, making Umay roll over.

When Tyson charged at Shaodw he quick sidesteped and pined Tyson to the ground. "this is your first leson in fighting, pick your battles. You were very foolish to agree and very stupid. Even if I did challenge you, you have the the right to decline or agree to it."

"Shadow!" Hazel came bounding out with Celest right behind. "You were very foolish to challenge the cub, even if he was stupid to take it! Are you OK Tyson?" He nodded, trying to get up with Shadow on him. "I am ashamed of you Shadow. I swear, was this all over Alpha? I am shocked." Celest sat down next to her, smiling that she did a good thing.

Shadow sighed and got off of Tyson. "take him back to the cave" shadow said not looking at Hazel or the pups. "he needs rest" he said then walked off into the Shadows and dissappered like he steped into the shadows. He reappered at the edge of there territory an dsat down. He knew that Hazel would not of understood what he had done. He did that to show tyson that if he really had left and tryed to join another pack what the Alpha would have done to him. But he also did it to scare him into staying because he knew what it was like to go out alone at this age and knew that Tyson would not be able to handle it.

"Tyson, you know it was wrong to do that, but don;t feel bad, Shadow was the one who challenged you." Hazel said, letting him ride on her back. "He's a meanie." Celest said. Tyson nodded enthusiastically. "He pummeled me Mama! didn't you tell us to never pummel?" "Your right." "So, can you give him a swat on the ear later?" "We'll see!" she said laughing. "You two have had a long night, now go to sleep!" "Ok!"

Shadow stayed out the rest of the night not going near the cave and not sleeping. He went out hunting and got a hug deer and layed it next to the cave then left. He felt bad for what he did and knew that he should stay far away from them. He wasn't use to taking care of a family since he was alwasy alone till he met Hazel and wasn't sure what he should do Sometimes. After leaving the deer he went back to the edge of there teritory and layed out in the sun.

Umay was the first to wake up. Probably because she wasn't running around last night. Sh noticed that Tyson had come back, that was good. Then she smelled something, something yummy. She scrambled out of the den and saw a huge deer. She knew she had to eat last, Alpha Person went first, but she couldn't resist having a bite full. She wiped her face clean and called, "Hey! there's a deer here!"

Shadow had came back to make sure that everything was okay and saw that Umay had taken a bit. He had stuck close to the shadows so that they would not see him. He smiled softly when he saw her and knew that one day she would be a good leader. He then climed up a tree so that he would watch over everyone without them knowing it. He knew that Hazel would eat since she knew he hated having the first bit while knowing that someone else needed the meat more the he did. From a distence he looked like he was just a shadow and that was what he wanted them to think was there and not a wolf.

Soon they were all outside, but before they could start eating, Hazel stopped them. "You know the rules." "Ok." They waited for Shadow, but after awhile, he didn't show up. "Well, I guess its alright. He must be out." Haze said to them. As they gulped down their share. She went to the tree where Shadow was. "I can see you you know." she said.
