"I was the mountain lion!" Tyson exclaimed. He pulled Alex to the ground playfully and said, "Celest was the owl and guess what? Umay was human!" Umay clambered on top of Alex's back. "It was amazing! But the wolf that we got looked weirdly familiar. Wonder who that could have been."

Alex laughed when they climbed on him "wow that is cool." he said iwth a smile "but I wonder who was the wolf you got."

The man cursed when the wolves pushed Alex down and he could not get a good shot

"I dunno! Umay, you sure you were the human?" "yeah! Besides, I don't wanna be dead!" "Well, it was only a dream." "True, but Shadow said it could be dangerous knowing our spirit animals." "Hey you guys, do you smell any other humans?" Tyson had been sniffing the air. "It's probably just Alex." "no, it's down there."

Alex looked down and saw the human. He growled and then looked at Tyson and the others "stay up here, I will be right back" he said then started to climb down in the shadows so that the human would not see him.

The human cursed when Alex dissappered and started to look aornd for him

"Be careful!"

Hazel woke up in a sweat. She looked around and saw the cubs and Alex were missing. She quickly darted to the tree where she saw Alex climbing down. "Alex, where are the cubs? I need to speak to them!"

Alex looked at Hazel "they are up in the tree and you better get up there. There is a human about." he said then darted into the forest and started to head over to the human in the shadows.

The human still had no idea where Alex was and cursed again

"You get up that tree too!" she said, running over and grabbing him by his shirt. "That is a hunter with a firestick. He can kill easily." She krept over to the tree and put him down. "Get up!" she commanded.

Alex looked at her and shook his head "no I know he is after me and only me. If I go with you I am putting you all in danger."

"We have a plan to make it look like your dead and we're doing it at dawn. Go up." she said. The cubs had poked their heads over the sides where the hunter was. "We have to keep him from finding Alex!" Celest said. Umay got up in range. "Hey you rat-eating, mud-wallowing, stinkyer-than-a-skunk hooman!!!!" Tyson and Celest joined the chant.

The man looked at the pups and scowled. There barking was getting very annoying. He took aim with his gun and got ready to shot them.

Alex heard there chants and cursed when he saw the hunter take aim. "sorry but I dont want my new family to get hurt." he told Hazel then charged at the human. He growled as he charged and his eyes flashed a yellowish gold. The man turned and looked at Alex. Fear came over his face becuase he what he saw was a human with the eyes of a wolf. He droped his gun and ran for the hills. Alex stoped charging when he got to the gun and watched the man run off.

"Alex!" Hazel sighed. If he was going to live with them, he was going to have to stop doing such stupid things. The pups had ducked when the hunter took aim, but they re-appeared and Celest said, "Alex, you don't go running at Firesticks! they put a huge hole in your stomach!"

Alex looked up at celest "it isn't called a firestick, it is called a gun and I know why to well what they can do" he said to her

Shadow had been watching from teh shadows when this happend and smerked seeing Alex charge the hunter.

Hazel scrambled up the tree. "I'm sorry Alex, but may I talk to the cubs alone for a moment? Shadow is down there and he'll lead you back to the den."

Alex looked at her and nodded sadly. He knew that what talking alone usually ment. Then he ran over to Shadow. Shadow looked at him and started to walk down a path "come Alex we have much to talk about." Alex followed him and nodded

Tyson knew what this meant. She figured out I caught a rabbit and didn't share! he though miserably. Umay also thought, I didn't mean to bug Tyson! He started it! and then of Course Celest thought, I hope she didn't figure out that I ran into a hooman village for like a second 'cause a rabbit went in there.

Shadow stoped when he got to the end of there territory and sat down. Then looked at Alex "why did you do that? you could have gotten youself killed."

Alex looked at shadow "I did it to protect you and everyone. I have already lost my human family and I dont want to lose my new family." Alex said as he looked down and remembered how his parents had tryed to protect him but got theirselves killed.

"I wanted to share I was soo hungry-" "-It wasn't my fault it was the rabbits-" "-Tyson was the one who-" "You guys!" Hazel laughed. "Relax. I'm not talking about any of that." they all sighed.

Shadow looked at Alex and sighed "even though you are human you are still a pup. You still have many things to learn and you are very young, so please don't do anything like that again."

Alex looked at Shadow and nodded "okay I will"

Hazel finished explaining. "Please, don't talk about this to Shadow. It will just upset him and will put him in one of his moods." They nodded. They knew about his silent moods. "Let's go back." "Okay!"

Shadow smiled at Alex "well then lets head back" he said and headed to the cave

Alex nodded and followed him

Hazel and the cubs got to the cave and walked in, getting to their spots. as Umay fell asleep, she wondered, Did I really do that?

Shadow and Alex soon got to the cave and Alex layed down next to them. Shadow smiled then went outside to go and check there territory before he went to bed.

finally they all fell asleep.

Shadow was almost to the farthest point in there territory when he spotted humans. They had more guns and torches. He growled slightly and saw that they were headed towards there cave. He started to run to the cave but knew that he was not going to make it in time. So he started to howl a warning to Hazel. But it was cut short when a hunter heard him and shot him in the leg.

Hazel woke up. she heard a howl being cut off. "Shadow?" she asked. she was bad at interpreting his howls, but she smelled human. "you guys, wake up!" she said, running into the cave. she licked Alex's face while the cubs groggily got to their feet. "Come on, we're going to a better cave!"
