"Ok." she said, hopping up onto the path, and slowly making her way up. "I wonder what's on the top?"she thought out loud.

Shadow smiled and followed her "I think there might be snow."

"Really? I haven't seen snow in awhile!" she said, excited. She started to run up the narrow path.

Shadow ran after her "be carefull you might fall" he yelled after her

"I will, don't worry!" she called back, being more careful this time.

Shadow smiled and ran after her. He then smelt something in the air that made him stop. He did not like the smell and it was the sent of bear. He looked at where Hazel had ran off to and yelled "Hazel come back something is not right here"

Hazel stopped. She was now on the top of the mountain, a flat area. She thought she smelled something, but she couldn't really tell waht it was until- she saw a mother bear with her cubs. She froze and got onto the ground and layed herself down. Sure, of course. Since she was half blind she didn't see the other family of bears on her left. She smelled them and was immediatly surrounded by angry Mother bears. "Um, sorry." she tried to wimper.

Shadow heard her whimper and ran over to her. He stood between her and the mother bear "we mean you no harm, lady bear" he said to the mother bear who had met her once before. The mother bear smerked "well I know you will not harm us but what about your friend?" she siad as she looked at Hazel. Shadow was about to say she ment no harm but then mother bear said "let her speak" Shadow nodded and steped aside so that the bear had a better look at Hazel.

The mother bear spoke in a voice that sounded as old as time, yet as new as the dew. She bowed in respect. "Mother Bear, I mean you know harm. I was just excited for the new snow. You see, I haven't seen it in a long while, and I know that you and the other bears worship the snow as a remnewer of life so," she took a deep breath. "Please let us through."

Mother bear smiled at Hazel, her smile was a warm smiled one that you would give to a old friend "it is okay little wolf you may pass." the mother bear said happly "if you are a friend of shadow you are always welcome to pass"

Shadow smiled at the mother bear and bowed "thank you"

Hazel smiled and looked at Shadow. "Old friends?" she asked.

Shadow nodded "yes I have know her for a while. Thats because Ulf attacked me once before and Mother bear found me. She cared for me and we have been friends ever since"

Mother bear smiled at at shadow and nodded "yes I remember and it looks like you still do not know how to take care of yourself" she said as she looked at the old cuts he had gotten for Ulf.

Hazel nodded. "You could say that again. I keep on having to get him out of trouble." she smiled and cuffed his ear. "But I think we're ok now."

MOther bear smiled "yes and I am glad that Shadow has met someone who can look out for him"

shadow smiled at Hazel

Hazel nodded. "if you don't mind, do you know of some territory that isn't occupied? We really need a permanent home."

Mother bear nodded "yes there is some territory right down in the next valley that isn't occupied." she said as she pointed to the valley

Shadow smiled at mother bear "thank you"

"Yes, thank you!" she turned to Shadow. "Well, what are you waiting for? Let's go!"

Shadow nodded "yay let go" then started to head towards the valley

Hazel went around the bend in the path and found a small forest. She couldn't smell andything but prey, and, "Look!" she called. "There's a lake in the middle!!!!"

Shadow smiled and looked at the lake. "yay this looks like this is a great place for us" he said as he took a beep breath and took in the sent of prey

"Charge!!!" she ran down the hill and to the first tree, went and clawed it, making it officially theirs.

shadow smiled and ran after her. He clawed another tree a little ways off from hers then started to walk around and check out there new home

Hazel ran strait to the small lake. the water was dazzling, and she could see fish. "Wow." she said. "It's perfect."
