Frowning deeply at him, her arms slipped around his neck. She knew that no matter what were to happen between the two that she would be devastated for him to leave. In love or not, she cared about him, and she would absolutely hate to see him go. It was already too late to spare her from any pain that she would experience from his 'death'. "I'm g-going to miss you no matter what," she urged softly, eventually having broken out into tears herself.
"Please, don't cry Aderith..." said Link, sobbing a little bit, "I don't want you to cry" he hugged her tighter, sniffling occasionally. His ears perked up though, he wiped away his tears and tried to calm down, "Aderith... I don't mean to change the subject, but I sense something" he sniffled again and looked around. "I sense something dangerous coming... the war I mentioned may be starting soon..." He stood up and then helped her up as well, "I can hear rapid stomping of feet of horse hooves coming from far away..." he looked out toward the hills where the now dead men had come from. He held Aderith close to him, glaring now as he looked in the same direction, "we need to tell the prince, come on!"
He held her hand and ran off in the direction of the camp, he looked back occasionally at the hills, checking if anything was coming. |
Though oblivious to the happenings running through Link's mind, Aderith sure knew one thing: she loved the way it felt to be cared about. Sure, she'd only experienced just a little bit of it, but she knew she wanted it.. She wanted that feeling she got at the pit of her stomach that made her giddy and happy.
Pulled to her feet, Ader sniffed and hid her face in Link's arms and chest, making sure to keep him closer than needed. She said nothing as dragged back to the camp, and simply followed. Prince Dioclese looked up to see the frantically running figures, then smiled a bit to see Aderith. "Wh-what can I do you for?" He asked the two upon their approach. (Dun let it be the enemeh yet. >< Things need to span out more.) |
He skid to a stop before the prince, still holding onto Aderith's hand, "prince Dioclese, I sense the enemy is preparing for battle, you must inform your troops quickly. I don't know when they'll exactly get here, but its never too late to be fully prepared and ready" he waited for any response. Almost expecting the prince to not believe him, "please, believe me, I wouldn't lie about such a thing in this situation we're all in."
Instead of the disaster that had occurred before with Dioclese, Aderith stayed close to Link, her arms looping around his right arm, her face pressing against his arm sweetly as she looked up to Dioclese. Dioclese seemed disappointed by the pairing over all, but was able to maintain composure as he listened to Link's words. "That is not possible," he said simply. "You must be hearing things wrong. After all, I am the Prince, and my army is on the way. That must have been what you are hearing."
"That isn't possible, this danger I sense is nothing but evil, with a thirst to kill and destroy, it can't be your troops, its the enemy!" He growled, but, seeing Ader in the corner of his eye, he calmed down and sighed, he looked behind him at the hills, then back at Dioclese. He had no idea why he was so angry inside at that moment, "fine, maybe it was your troops, but if its not, I'll be the first into battle, come on Aderith." He turned around, she was still holding his right arm, he leaned his head toward her, he relaxed a little bit, smiled and then walked back to the village with her.
"The prince can't be right, my senses never lied to me before..." said Link on the way back, he looked at the back of his left hand, "what do you think, Aderith?" |
The only thing that Dioclese could do was laugh. None of what Link had said had bothered him much, especially since the majority of the troops in his army were especially fearsome. Either way, there was no harm done and the tanned skinned man watch Link and Aderith leave with a sigh. "She will be mine," he muttered to himself simply.
Aderith smiled at Link with a sweet look in her eyes, hands eventually dropping from his arm and her left hand joining his right. She sighed once asked that one question that was no good. "Well, I don't know.. " She pondered before finally coming up with an answer. "M-maybe you're wrong this time.." |
"Perhaps, but I won't just say I'm wrong and give up, I'm not letting my guard down that easily" he grew silent right after, peering over at the hills, he sighed and grew a bit upset, but he tried to get over it for Ader's sake. Once they reached her home, he held the door open for her, then closed it behind him after they both entered, he sighed once more and leaned against the door, "its getting a bit late, isn't it love? Perhaps you should get some sleep while there is still some peace."
Once home, Aderith moved toward her bed, eventually taking a seat on it and looking in Link's direction. "Only if you sleep with me," she told him simply and honestly. She wasn't about to just up and allow Link to run off to.. whatever it was that he thought was justice while she slept. "And if you don't come and sleep with me.. then.." She found herself struggling with words again. "Well, I'll cry." Oh dear..
Link's mopey look on his face was replaced with surprise, he looked over at Aderith and smiled, "alright, I will, as long as you're happy, I'm happy" he looked out the window toward the hills for a few seconds, then walked over to her bed. He gave her a gentle hug and kissed her, then he laid down on the other side of the bed, plenty of space for Aderith to rest.
Finally allowing a smile, Ader scooted as close up to Link as she could, and she kissed his pale skin before snuggling in close. "That.. that means a lot to me," she told him simply. "That's.. very sweet.." She sighed slightly, her eyes focusing on Link's chest. She as obviously not very used to the sweetness. Sure sure, Link treated her well, but no other men had. "Thank you.."
"You're welcome Aderith, I'll do whatever it takes just to make sure you're happy" he hugged her, then cuddled gently with her, giving her a kiss on the top of her head. He'll never be able to rest peacefully when he passes on ever since he met Aderith, even if she did not love him, he loved her, he didn't want to leave at all. "I won't let death win..." he thought to himself, he hugged her a bit tighter, not wanting to let her go.
Sighing slightly, Aderith moved back just enough so that she could look him in the eyes. She smiled, trying to stay positive about the current worries in his and her brains, the looming threat of an enemy in such a small place. Ader's hands moved from between the two bodies and to Link's face and hair. "Maybe I do love you," she told him simply, trying to set up something hypothetical. "How would you feel about that..?"
He smiled gently, placing one of his hands upon hers, "if you do love me, then I'll be the happiest man in the world" he laughed a little bit and blushed slightly. It did seem a bit extreme, what he said, but thats how he truly felt about her, he never loved anyone as much as he loved Aderith. He gave her a gentle kiss and a hug, he waited for a reaction from her, hoping for something positive.
Upon the embrace she smiled and closed her eyes. "Link, I'm not sure if I meant it yet," she began, her voice mostly in a whisper, "but I care about you.. I want you here most of all with me, so don't go dying or anything ya hear?" She was laughing at herself just a little, and then made herself stop. "I just.. I want you to know that you have a place in my heart, okay?" And she was speaking the truth this time at least. "I promise."
He chuckled lightly, "yes, of course" he grew serious though as she continued, "I'll do whatever I can to make sure I don't die, I... I don't want to leave you" he cuddled with her, "you have a place in my heart as well, Aderith." All of a sudden, he felt a sharp pain in his left hand, it moved up his whole arm and he shouted slightly with pain, he let Ader go and he turned away from her, holding his left wrist. He sat up and looked at the back of his hand, the Triforce was glowing brightly, but soon, it faded away and his pain ended, his sad expression shown forth.
"I can hear a voice from the Triforce, perhaps the very gods themselves, saying my time is near..." his head began to sag, a tear fell down his face, his hands fell to his sides and sniffled. But, his hands turned into fists and they shook slightly, "why did they revive me... only to take me back to their world?" He asked himself, more tears fell down his face, he put his head in his hands and started to cry. Its as if he was so lost in sadness that he forgot Aderith was right next to him. |
Letting out a horrid cry as Link pulled away from her Ader found herself crying as she watched Link writhe around with pain. She was too afraid to touch him just in case it would hurt him any, but once he was done her dark eyes moved to look at him and her fear was replaced with sadness. She looked at him as the words began to soak in and she bit her lips, tears already streaming down her face as well. She didn't want him to die...
"Link," she managed to get out softly, tears falling into her bed as she wrapped her arms around him. "P-please don't cry, please don't.." She was crying obviously, herself, though. "Don't cry.." She didn't want him to cry. "Th-there has to be a way around this.. Just don't cry.." |
When Aderith wrapped her arms around him, he slowly calmed down and looked at her, he wrapped his arms around her, seeing her cry just made him feel so awful inside. He started to think as he tried to calm her down, then he remembered, the Triforce grants the wish of anyone who lays their hands upon it. "Aderith" he said, sniffling afterwards, he moved back a little bit, just to wipe the tears from her face, "there is a legend from Hyrule about the Triforce, it must have the other two pieces to be complete. Once intact, the one who places his hand upon the Triforce will have his deepest desire granted, but, I can't do it with the power I have alone.
Its possible if the war begins and we win, that the gods will see me worthy enough to obtain the other two pieces, and with their combined power, I'll be revived. It may not happen though, if the gods truly wish for me to die, then... the end of the war will be my last day on Earth and with you. All we can do is pray that the war will have a positive outcome" he frowned and hugged her once more, a bit tighter, not wanting to let her go. |
A wish. That was all Ader needed to save Link.. all she had to do was wish and everything could be better.. everything would be alright. But that wasn't something easily done, apparently, and this only made the woman more upset..
Ader cried harder, arms wrapped tightly around Link. It just seemed like such a far fetched idea now. Sure she would pray as he had told her to, and with all her heart and soul she would hope for and desire that wish, but it.. it just seemed like it might not happen. All she could do at that point was hold him and kiss him softly. |
He kissed her as well, hugging her tighter, "please don't cry anymore Aderith... I'm sorry for upsetting you, please... Crying won't help us, we just have to put our faith in my theory and not lose hope. We must fight with all our strength when the war approaches us" he gave her another kiss and looked her in the eye, he managed to smile, hoping to cheer her up.
"But.. I--- I can't stop crying.." She was just too upset. "I- I can't..." For someone who didn't love someone, she sure was crying a awful lot. Maybe she was in love with him.. it would be impossible to tell with the headache she was achieving now anyway. The kisses though, silenced her and she finally just stopped making noises long enough to breathe and calm down. She smiled back to Link just a little bit, her bloodshot eyes conveying the feelings pushing through her.
He smiled gently at her, giving her another kiss, he wiped away a tear on her face with his thumb, "come now love, we should head to bed now, we'll need plenty of rest if the war is coming up soon." He could sense her painful headache, he would've used the Triforce on her, but he promised he'd never do that again, he felt bad for her. He helped her lay down and he laid down next to her, cuddling with her gently, "sleep well love, good night" he gave her a kiss on the cheek and closed his eyes, not ready to go to sleep really until she said good night back.
Eyes closed sweetly now, Ader nodded and sighed. She was hiding herself in Link's arms though, in all reality there was nothing that he could possibly need to protect her from at the moment. Only herself. "Good night," she said in a weak, yet sweet sounding voice. She found a 'thank you' pressing at her lips as well, but she figured that pulling up another heated conversation about apologies and unnecessary thanking of one another.
He smiled calmy, happy to hear a good night from her, then he finally fell asleep, feeling happy that Aderith's was in his arms once more. When morning came, the sun burst forth through the windows, it made Link twitch and his eyes slowly opened, he squinted and blink a few times to get them used to the light again. He looked at Ader, sleeping peacefully in his embrace, he smiled and kissed her cheek, "good morning love" he whispered into her ear.
Aderith was curled tightly into Link's chest, her cheek pressed against it sweetly as she in and exhaled. Feeling the cool breath on her neck and ear, Ader's eyes twittered open quickly and she gasped just a little bit. "Nnnmm.." She blinked a few times before finally coming to realize just where she was. When she did, she smiled sweetly up to Link an hid her face close to him again. "Mmm.. Morning," she told him.
