The man sighed a nodded, watching the now dead man's blood seeping into his cot. "This will have to be thoroughly washed, now," he said, ushering for his wife and daughter before helping Link begin to drag the man upward. He helped Link carry the man into the streets where people of all sorts began to stare and gasp like the horrible gossips and onlookers they were. Many whispers began to fill the air as Ader melted into the crowd. She'd left her home only moments ago due to the many voices that she could hear through the giant hole in her roof.
"What's going on?" She asked a woman, her glaring eyes falling upon Link. "That man," the woman said in some sort of odd accent, gesturing to the deceased. "He cam' a runnin' down here.. Saw it with mah own two eyes. He was bleedin' all over th' place, an' that there pale man grabbed him up." As if Ader were interested by that point.. |
Link didn't notice Aderith, he was too busy focusing on the dead man he was carrying and about to bury in the ground. After about two hours and a bit far away from the village, the man was now buried and Link shoved the shovel into the ground after he was fully under. He had made a makeshift cross with some wood and a little bit of rope, he shoved the cross into the dirt before the grave and gave him a short bow. He then focused on trying to get himself clean, since he was covered in blood and dirt, "is it alright if I borrow some water so I may wash my clothes ma'am?" He asked the old man's wife, she agreed and they all went back home.
They had a clothesline set up by their house, a large sheet was hanging from it, so he hid behind it to get out of sight of everyone as he changed his clothes. He came back out of hiding wearing this outfit, but his skin, eyes and hair was still the same. He kept his old outfit with him in his magic item bag just in case he ever needed it again, he never thought he'd need it now. He was carrying his old equipment and clothes in his arms, while the wife of the house came over to Link carrying some water in a big bucket and prepared to clean up after the dead man as he washed his clothes. He removed his gloves and got to work in his own bucket as the wife went to work in hers, and after an hour or so, all of the clothes were clean and dripping wet as they hung on the line to dry. "Phew..." Link said, wiping his forehead, he then put on his new gloves as his old ones hung to dry. He decided to head back to the dead man's grave to pay him more respect. |
The people of the village were ablaze and taken with excitement and nervousness about the now dead visitor that they'd managed to attract. No one knew the man, no one recognized him.. No one knew where he had come from, either, which was more interesting than all. It appeared that those injuries on that man were certainly not coincidental. Those injuries were too deep to be mere accidents; even the women and children could recognize something as horrible.
Ader was walking with a group of women toward the grave. Apparently, she was a part of a deeply religious mourning group in the village. In her hands, now thoroughly washed and cleaned, was a small bouquet just like the other girls. They all wore elegant robes, none of them identical in any way.. just fancy. They would all recite a prayer, then go there separate ways.. they always did. |
Link was standing before the grave, arms folded and eyes closed as his head pointing down to the ground, his hat flapped in the air as the wind blew across the land, but his hat stayed on his head. He could feel the crowd approach him without even needing to look back, so he chanted a short prayer of his own quietly and turned around, he was leaving so that they could do their ritual. He didn't even glance at Aderith as he passed by her, knowing she could care less if he actually said anything or paid her any attention.
He left the village once more, standing outside the entrance, he stared into the sky, turning orange from the setting sun, he began to think. Think about the innocent man who had perished before him, he wondered where he came from and why he died. |
Eyes moved sideways, and followed Link as he passed her.. Ader said nothing, looked down, and then moved her eyes back to the grave site before her. Her group chanted the prayer lightly, all minus one voice. She was too busy thinking about the man who'd passed her sadly enough. Even if he did seem as though he was simply lying to her, she still couldn't push the thoughts away that somehow someway he thought that he meant what he said.. She shook her head viciously and the prayer ended, followed by the women placing their bouquets on the grave and leaving. Ader stood there but for a moment before dropping her own, then leaving as well..
Why were things always so complicated for her anyway? She was wondering this as she walked through the village. The sun captured her eyes so, and she sighed at the sheer beauty of the sight. Tonight, she would be sleeping under the stars in her bed and no doubts she would be freezing. She knew this, so she bode her time wisely, eventually stopping to sit in a small field to watch the sun.. to relax and clear her head. |
Link sat down since his legs were getting tired, he wasn't thinking any more, he wanted to play a song, it would calm him down and relax him. He reached his item bag on his belt and pulled out the blue ocarina. The sun went down as he began to play his song, an assortment of past songs he knew and loved. One song's magic power began to affect time, it made the moon go up and down faster, by the time his song had ended, the sun was now rising into the sky, thanks to his ability to skip time.
Everyone had gotten a full nights rest, so it was like nothing had happened to speed up time at all, the day started out normally. He laughed a little bit, wondering if people were aware of what he had just done, he stood up and put the ocarina back into his bag as he walked back into the village. |
Only one person could have been aware.. Ader. Aderith was lying in the field now, shivering under her robe that she'd gone back to her home to get, stirring just a little to feel a soft breeze blowing through. She shivered more roughly now, her eyes popping open as she gasped just a little bit. She could have sworn that she hadn't been asleep that long.. She looked around, her eyes soon enough narrowing in on a figure in the distance. A pale figure.
"YOU!" She snarled, scrambling to her feet quickly so that she could move toward Link quickly. Of course, iven her uncanny ability to always be physically harmed in some way, Aderith found herself yelping and falling to the dirt, getting her fancy and pretty robes all dirty. "Ow.." She cried, not even bother trying to lift her foot from the thorn covered vines that had a good hold. |
Link gasped and ran to Ader's side, he bent down on his knees, trying to free her from the vines, he grabbed his sword from his back and carefully cut the vines, which he tossed away, freeing her. "Are you alright?" He asked her, offering to help her up after he put his sword back.
|
It was hard to be angry with someone who was so nice, wasn't it..? Ader pouted, her already pouty lips poking out more as she turned pink, not bothering to take his hand for the help up. "I'm fine.." She muttered, looking away so that she wouldn't have to look at his innocence. Of course, too bad that failed and she glared back up to him. Her glare was not as vicious as before. She was still so sassy..
|
He stood up and chuckled a little, "well, you can stand on it, so you are fine..." he rose his eyebrows and blinked as she glared at him. "What?" He asked, walking back a little, "you're still mad at me? You think I was lying?" He was assuming she felt that way, so he did what she did, glared lightly back.
|
"I know you're lying," she told him simply. And that was all she believed at the moment too! How can you love someone you just met yesterday, technically? You can't.. exactly. "You don't love people you just met.." She tried to walk away, but the limped just a little considering that there were a few cuts on her foot, as well as thorns, apparently, in her feet. She let out a sob as she hopped along, trying to look completely serious and failing severely.
|
"Aderith, no point trying to act tough when you're in pain" he picked her up and carried her in his arms, "Midna will help you with your feet" he walked over to her house and gently kicked her door open, he put her on her bed then ran over and closed the door. He walked back over and sat on a chair by her bedside "Midna, please do what you can for her" he said as he quickly pulled the thorns from her feet. It was only painful for a few seconds each time, so when they were all gone, Midna appeared on the end of the bed.
She took a quick look at her feet, she hovered her hands around them and then her hands and Ader's feet began to glow with a bright, orange light. The magic slowly healed every wound her feet had, when she was fully healed, the orange light faded. They both smiled, waiting and watching for Ader's next move. |
The girl went silent, her arms steady crossed as she fumed. She was getting to the point of hating Midna. She seemed to be everywhere, though she really was obviously not wanted in any way possible. Thus, Ader was beginning to hate her, and she knew it. She didn't look at either of the two, didn't speak for the longest time. She was trying not to burst into tears of anger.
"Midna, I did not ask you for your help. There for I am not going to thank you.. " She shot a glare at the guilty as charged. "However, if I had asked.. I would say 'Thank you for helping me'." That was her way of thanking her.. and it was obvious. "Now I would appreciate it if you would leave. I need to talk to him." |
Both Link and Midna looked at each other, so without saying a word, she disappeared, returning Link's shadow. "I'm sorry Aderith... but shes the only one who has such magic, or else I would've healed you myself... now, what is it you need to tell me?" He waited for an answer.
|
Getting to her feet quickly, Ader practically slammed Link into her wall. "What is your problem?!" She snarled at him, already having her angry tears streaming down her face. "Why can't you just leave me alone?! I did not ask for your help! Why can't you just go away?!" She wanted him to go away more than anything, but after a moment she sunk to the floor and hid her tear stained face. Everything seemed to be screwed up..
|
He was a bit shocked as Ader went crazy before him, he stayed silent and looked her straight in the eye until she was on the floor, he bent down on his knees and put his hand on her shoulder. "Aderith, I help those who are in any kind of danger, so thats why I constantly help you, since you're always in danger. You can yell at me all you want, but I'm not leaving until the danger I feel slowly approaching is gone, I won't leave you or Holodum defenseless."
He moved her hands from her face, "the only reason I'm spending time here with you is because you are practically my only friend here in Holodum... and friends help friends out." |
She still cried, her attempts of glaring at him all failing.. She gave up, and she found herself wrapping her arms around him slowly and gently. It was her turn to cry. Her turn to get comforted... again.. Ader cried briefly, covering her face in Link's chest. "I'm sorry.." She cried at him softly. This was where the guilt sunk in. It always seemed like something like this would happen, but every time it was someone new she was crying on.. just never anyone important.
|
He hugged her gently as well, "its alright, its alright" he said to help calm her down, he rubbed her back and gently patted it afterwards. "Is there anything you need me to help you with?" He asked her, then he looked up at the big hole in her roof.
|
"No!" She snapped out at him. She was sick of this help stuff. "I want you to stop this, alright?!" She wasn't necessarily angry now, just upset. Aderith moved to her bed, flopping down onto it and hiding her face in her hands again so that she couldn't be looked at anymore. Ader felt like she looked hideous when she cried. Really she didn't look that bad, but still..
|
Link frowned as she hid her face from him, "Aderith... don't hide your face, you look beautiful if you cry or don't" he stood up and put his hand on her back. "I'll give you some time to calm down, alright? If you need me, just call my name, I'll hear you..." He walked away and opened the front door, he gave her one last smile before he closed the door behind him. Since he destroyed his tree due to his frustration, he looked around the village for one and managed to find one just up a tall hill overlooking the village.
He ran toward it, trying to find his footing on the steep hill, the tree was gigantic and it had smooth bark, so he couldn't get a good grip on it. He decided to just jump for it, using his strength, he jumped as high as he could, practically going over the tree, but he landed onto a thick and strong branch. He lounged on it, his left leg hanging off the branch as his right was upon it, he rested his right hand on his stomach while he used his left arm as a pillow. He took time to think about Aderith, he couldn't stop thinking about her and he wondered why, it was as if his heart was making him have these feelings and not him himself. "I do love her... but why?" He asked himself, he looked up into the sky, watching the clouds roll by, he had a nice hole through the tree branches to look through. |
Link. Hmmm.. Aderith was pondering the man as she lay in her bed. She was hidden in the mess of thick blankets and sheets, making it look as though she really wasn't there at all. But this was a good time for her to think about this.. this man..? She was sure by now that he was no man. He looked too pretty to be a man. Most men she'd met all looked the same, but not Link. It was strangely odd.. Wait, weren't his ears pointed..? She pushed the thoughts of him away, but they returned again. Damn, why and how had this strange embedded himself into her head?! How did he do this?!
Choking out a sob, Aderith hid her face in her pillow, crying a bit more for simple lack of being able to make a decision about this person.. "Link.." She whispered softly, half in a bit of a crying gasp, straight into her pillow. |
He heard her say his name faintly, but he knew she was in no sort of danger as he only left like five minutes ago, but he looked down at her house anyway. He sighed, "I don't know why, but I hate seeing or hearing her cry, it makes ME want to cry..." he said to himself, turning all mopey and depressed because of Ader. He wanted to go back to her house to help comfort her, but knew she needed to be alone right now, so he just kept watch over her and the village from the tree.
|
She sniffed again, crying harder into her pillow. Wasn't he supposed to come if she said her name? That was what he said! Ader wasn't saying it again.. She curled up twice into her blankets, a few wets spots on them here and there from her tears. She begun to cry harder until someone burst into her home. It was not Link.
"Link?" She asked, her body shooting up from her blankets. Instead, it was a burly, grinning man, coming toward her with hungry eyes.. "No!" She screamed as the man latched onto her, grabbing her arms tightly as if trying to restrain her harshly kicking body. "Get off of me!" She screamed, clearly making a scene of this. (NOW I NEEDZ SLEEP. xD Night.) |
He had seen the man enter her house long before she was attacked, he drew his sword and jumped from the tree, making leaves fly wildly into the air. He flew through the air practically and landed just outside her house with a loud thud, it distracted the man enough for Link to get inside and grab him by the neck. He made him let Ader go and he dragged the man outside, his face turning blue from Link choking him so hard, he wasted no time and got ready to snap the man's neck, he yelled angrily and snapped it. You could hear it crack from a mile away, it was sickening, but he ignored it as he let the man fall to the ground.
He ran inside, checking if Ader was okay, she was probably mad at him for not coming when she said his name. "Are you alright Aderith? I'm sorry for not coming sooner..." ((Good night, sleep good! xP)) |
(I DID HO. xD)
Again, many people witnessed this event, all of them looking in horror and gasping as the man died before their eyes. Ader on the other hand, was crying hysterically in Link's arms. She didn't care if he'd not come the first time. He had come now when she needed him too, and that was what she needed the most. "Th-thank you.." She sobbed and choked out, her voice cracking as she clung close to Link. She had nothing else she could do.. She could do nothing but cry.. In the meantime, the villagers outside were beginning to wonder why this man was here? He seemed to be so.. troublesome. He killed this man laying before them, but he also killed that dragon.. They were overall unsure of what to do with him. |
