It wasn't long before Wolfe's voice echoed over the intercom. Ruining their silent moment together. "This is your captain speaking." He said in a very official voice. "We are about to enter the Maverick headquarters, so prepare for a quick jolt and possible nausea for those who cannot handle a bumpy ride. There is a toilet around the corner from the medial room, enjoy!"
The ship slowly moved its way into a much larger base, it caught them within its massive arm, shaking the ship lightly, soon after Wolfe was soon walking to the medical area. "We are here! Grab your crap and its time to go!" |
Cara didn't think much of Wolfe's message... Not until she saw a massive arm come towards the ship. She was a bit surprised, but the turbulance did make her nauseous, she just held onto the edge of the bed during the jolt. When he walked into the room Cara stood, smiling at Nex once more, before standing and grabbing her bag. Maverick headquarters..? They have a headquarters...? She was a bit confused at the moment, but didn't feel like asking questions.

Although it was not truly their headquarters, it was obviously a rather strange place full of a variety of people. All were dressed in remotely similar outfits, suits for quickness and convenience rather than style. Although a few of them stuck out of the crowd, Nex being one of them.
Nex, at this point, could walk by himself, although he would be slower than the rest of them. Feeling the ship take one final jolt as it was now in the landing dock, he sighed happily, the nightmare of this crude space station's docking system was over. Nex kept his one hand on his ribs the entire time, walking toward the door they had entered from just before, Wolfe looked out the window at the strange crowds of people that strutted through the streets, there was a marketplace not too far from them. "Hmmm..... Looks like the marketplace is in town... And just in case you are wondering.... This isn't our headquarters, this is just the only place that really accepts Mavericks, its very well hidden. I just call it our headquarters because it makes sense, anyway.... We should get Nex to the hospital, it shouldn't take more than a day to see Nex back in prime condition...." He handed Cara a map shortly after his long slur of words, "Use this to navigate through this steel jungle, the building is the only pure white one with a plus sign plastered above the double doors, you can't miss it. As for me, I'm going to take advantage of the local wares." Wolfe smiled, walking off in the distance and quickly out of the range of Cara's sight. Nex awaited her to move, after all, she had the map and Nex hadn't been here in a long time, there was not much he recognized, this place had changed a lot for him. |
Cara tried listening to what Wolfe was saying, but was having a hard time due to the new scenery. She was in awe, but she did manage to hear the words 'hospital, 'Nex, and 'white building', those alone said enough. She opened the map he had handed her, looking at it for a few minutes. She looked up, seeing Wolfe had already disappeared and Nex was waiting for her. Cara smiled a little, seeing him walking again, but when she saw the hand he had on his ribs, the smile vanished.
"C'mon." She gently grabbed his arm, careful to not jostle his injuries in any way, and slowly started down the street that seemed to head to the hospital, according to the map. |
Nex kept the smile upon his own face even though it was in pain, he had been in much worse compared to this, so he felt this was rather insignificant, he just needed to take care of it and do nothing else.
As the two walked along the marketplace streets, many people greeted Nex as though they knew him, due to his hand within Cara's, he did nothing much but nod, after all his hands were full. The scenery around them was all ugly houses, they were in the poorer part of town. The people did not look unhappy however, they were all smiling and browsing the various wares that the market stalls offered for their hungry eyes, even if they couldn't pay some of the items were rather neat. It didn't take long before the white building that Wolfe was talking about came into view, along with the break from the crowd and the market came a change of scenery, it seemed to be in a richer part of town, or rather closer to the rich part of town, as if it divided the two apart. Nex saw the double doors, he would get this down as soon as he can, then return to that planet to get what belonged to him |
Cara looked at Nex, able to tell he was in pain. She frowned a bit, then continued looking around. A lot of people seemed to know Nex, many people greeting him as they walked by. All he seemed to do was nod, but Cara knew that was probably just because he needed to get to the hospital.. and they had to finish getting his ship parts back. The houses seemed to get bigger and look nicer as they got into town, and Cara guessed this must be the richer part of town. She was still in awe at everything, but when she saw the hospital, she smiled. Nex would be better soon.. the technology that they have here is obviously far better.. Cara opened the hospital's door for Nex, walking inside close behind him.

Nex walked into the room, a girl was at the counter in front of them and greeted the two of them with a smile, "Hello, can I help you today?" she looked to Nex's ribs and quickly knew what was going on. "Oh.... Dear..... that looks like a pretty bad injury. We should get you to a room... Don't move, i don't want you to agrivate the injury more that you might have already had." She walked over to a wheelchair that was leaning against one of the walls. She folded it out and walked toward Nex, Nex sant in the wheelchair, feeling the strain on his ribs lessen, he sighed happily and looked up to Cara, "She can come with me, right?" The woman nodded, "it shouldn't take more than a day for you to heal, there will be no need for an operation of any kind from what i can see."
Her visual senses seemed to be quite amazing, she could tell all of that just by looking at him, but the reason was quickly revealed, one of her eyes having a small scope come out around the area of the pupil. It zoomed in at a clipboard she was looking at, she tuen turned toward a man in a white coat and whispered something to him, he nodded, and took the handles of the wheelchair to wheel him off into a room he could rest in. |
Cara was surprised the woman figured out what was wrong so quickly.. There was something weird going on with one of her eyes, but she just shrugged it off, figuring it was supposed to do that. She quietly followed Nex who was being wheeled off by the doctor. Looking around, she saw it was much nicer and cleaner than the hospital she had had him at.. She frowned, feeling a bit helpless. Remembering that the lady said he should be better in a day, she perked up a bit again, smiling.

Nex was slowly wheeled into the nearest room, his eyes to a mechanical device in front of him, it was a recovery station, and he knew that the first 20 minutes would be spent underneath the machines that would cure him. His wheelchair was placed next to the massive, blue device, A door opening up on the side of it, on the inside was a comfortable bed that was laid down against the floor like any other bed. He was hauled into it and the door was closed, you could still see Nex through the glass of the front door.
The doctors began punching in some commands to program the machine, a blue mist encased it and Nex passed out right there. The machine then hummed shortly after, a light enveloping him and running scans and tests on his body. The male doctor then came forth to Cara, "He shouldn't be in there too long, his injuries were not life threatening, may I ask what relation are you to him?" |
Cara was a bit startled when they wheeled Nex into the machine and he passed out. She then relaxed when the doctors started pressing buttons, figuring that it was supposed to happen. She watched quietly, focusing on Nex, watching him though the glass, rather than paying attention to the doctors. When the doctor asked her the question, she was brought back to reality. Pulling her gaze to the male doctor, she thought about what he asked. She wasn't even sure how to reply. He meant more than any friend of hers would mean to her, but she wasn't sure what to call that. However, she knew that on her planet people were kicked out of hospital rooms for not having any direct relationship to the patient. "I'm his friend." she stated plainly, not in the mood for lying.

The doctor did not really like that response, but it was too be expected, she didn't look anything like him, there didn't seem to be any family relationship, so she had to be a friend. "Well, you two seem close enough, so you can either choose to wait in the lobby or wait in here. Or if you wish we can watch him over while you go out and do something else, we promise to keep an eye on him." He nodded, awaiting her response.
Nex breathed in softly as he was underneath the heavy lights, now focusing upon his abdomen, the machine began to move, slowly moving downward it began to carve into his flesh. Performing the repairs it needed, the insides of Nex could be seen. Some sections were mechanical, which were plainly seen by now. |
Again, Cara was paying more attention to the machine, which was now cutting into nex's flesh, than to the doctor. "I'll stay here." she said, leaning against a wall. She hadn't been listening very carefully, and didn't know if he'd given her the option, but she had already made up her mind.

"Alright then...." The doctor left the room shortly after, the machine could take care of itself.
Nex only spend 15 more minutes under the mechanical knife, the machine was so precise and so quick that it took almost no time to replace the bones with a strange foam which quickly hardened and formed into the shape of the original bones. The machine sealed Nex up nice, and tight, and the machine beeped shortly after, the door opened upward again and the machine folded so it no longer covered the bed, Nex had bandages all over his chest and abdomen, and he was still asleep, his eyes were closed, he looked very peaceful. |
Cara watched the machine as t fixed Nex up, in a state of awe. It worked so quickly.. The doctors on her planet had taken hours to even bandage him, but.. She smiled. It looked like the machine had finished, seeing it fold backwards, uncovering Nex on the bed. She watched him sleep, relief washing over her. He would be better soon, and he looked rather peaceful while he rested there.

Nex only spent a few more moments with his eyes closed, then his eyes slowly moved open after about a 20 minute pause. He turned his head, this time with no pain seen, looking upon Cara. He smiled shortly after, he couldn't get up, and again he was drugged up.His eyes then looked to the ceiling, he was still smiling, the chemicals of the machine not reacting well with him. He slurred out a broken section of dialog. "Slahh..... fuuunnn.... nurrhh...." he stood silent there for a moment afterword, passing out yet again.

Cara watched, walking over to him. "Nex..?" She noticed he didn't look pained, wich was good, but after his nice little slur of words, she sighed. He was pretty drugged.. he hadn't even formed coherent words... She went back to leaning against the wall, waiting. She fell asleep after a while, not having slept in a while.

Nex woke up several hours later with the effects of the drugs worn off, it was a bit later in the night. And he turned to see Cara watching over him, as expected. He leaned up against the pillow, not wanting to disturb her sleep, he sighed shortly after, feeling bad for the past few days, she hadn't really slept in an actual bed.... Because he had been injured. Now was the time.
Nex, feeling much better, walked up toward Cara, gently lifting her from her sleeping position he sat her upon the bed, walking to the window shortly after, he sighed, still a bit sore and knowing it was good to have bedrest, but she deserved it, he covered her up, looking out the window and to the metal sky. There was no true sky in this area, only the ceiling of the city. |
Cara woke up when she felt something soft... and warm. A bed? And a blanket? She woke up, sitting and rubbing the sleep from her eyes. She was a bit disoriented, and could hardly make shaped out well enough yet. She saw Nex's figure by the window, and smiled. "Nex? You better?" She then noticed that she was n his bed. Frowning she scooted over, patting the spot next to her. She had been fine on the floor, and she knew Nex needed rest more that she did.

Nex turned around, seeing her smile and wake up, "Ah.... You are finally awake Cara.... Yes... I'm much better..... I don't need any rest.... We should be able to leave soon... Even though the doctors suggest I should stay here another day.... We really don't have the time for it..."
He paused for a moment, seeing her pat the other side of the bed. He eagerly accepted it and walked over to her, taking that seat and sliding so he was laying down next to her, his arm going around her and pulling her closely, "How did you sleep?" he asked before turning his head to her, his eyes meeting with hers in the process. |
Cara yawned and her eyes adjusted a bit more. "Well, if ya wanna go, we can.. But you really should rest. Your health is more important than your ship, whether you think it or not."
She smiled, watching him accept her invitation. His arm around her felt nice.. It had been a while since they'd been close like this. Cara smiled. "I slept alright... I missed you." she had missed the warmth that they had shared when the slept.. but it hadn't been his fault... just that beast's. And that revolting creature got what it deserved. |
Nex sighed, he was impatient, but nodded and decided it would be best to take both the doctor's and Cara's advice.
"Well, that is good that you slept well last night...." he frowned a bit as she said that she missed him, he missed her too, and now seemed to be as good a time as any to take advantage of the situation. Nex moved in closer and pressed his own forehead to hers, his arms both went around her as he pulled her into a warm embrace, he gently kissed her once and smiled, "Well.... I gotta make up for lost time then...." He was healthy enough now, almost completely healed, only scars remained, but bandages were still there. |
Cara offered Nex a small smile, knowing he wouldn't want to wait. He wanted his parts back.. they were important to him and with the space pirates, the remaining ones could have already been melted down.
Cara scooted in a bit closer to him, returning the gentle kiss. She smiled, nodding a bit. She leaned in so she could trail quick, gentle kisses along the side of his face, before pulling back a little again to look at him. Cara was happy... in fact very happy the Nex seemed to be better. And so quickly, too.. God, the technology here is amazing.. She smiled at him again, plating a loving kiss on his lips, those lips she'd been craving to taste again for days. |
Nex, although impatient to finish what he had started, had started to lose hope, the parts he had left behind on the planet were most likely already raided, although they were cloaked, he would consider himself lucky if they were still there. But now he had to focus on recovery, because if he was caught in a difficult situation now, he would not last as long as he would hope. Now was the time for the two of them to be together anyway, he smiled warmly as he felt her lovingly place kisses upon his face, something he had missed for the past few days, as their ability to be closer with oneanother was limited greatly. He felt her give him a loving kiss shortly after, and now he realized that it was not the time for words, just the time for the two of them to be in each others arms. Nex ran his hands down along her back and up again, his lips going back against hers slowly, slowly moving his tongue into her mouth to taste her fully. Again the surroundings of the two faded out of his vision, just like that one wonderful night where the two only had each other. The grandfather clock in the room being the only thing to greet them when the night grew older. Now, if they were caught in this position, Nex was aware that they would get strange looks from the employees, and the idea of the two of them being friends would be thrown out the window. But Nex was not thinking of this now, he was only thinking about the two of them.

Cara smiled, relaxing under his touch, the feel of his arms on her back. Her own arms wrapped around Nex, gently rubbing his back as the two kissed again. Cara was caught a little off guard, feeling his tongue make its way into her mouth, but responded, gently rubbing her own tongue up against his. She then remembered where tehy were, not that she cared much, and what she had told the doctor. Friends. She smiled a little at the thought of the doctor seeing this.. they would probably get a weird look or two. Cara paused for a moment, in thought. Last time she checked, they were friends, but... what were they now? She loved him, more than she thought she could love someone, and she'd heard similar from him, though not knowing if he felt as strongly towards her as she did towards him.. Friends? Doesn't seem right...Lovers? She blushed at the thought, wondering if that was the word for it.

Nex felt her react against his tongue, causing him to smile warmly against the kiss, he rubbed his own tongue against hers. His own thoughts went to the same thing, if they were not friends, what were they? The thought poked at his mind for a moment, it was obvious that the two meant more than just mere friends to each other. He would most likely agree with the word lovers. He truly and longingly loved her, nothing could ever change that. He felt his hands traveling along her for the moment, one moving from her back and sliding along the side of her stomach and all the way to her waist, it ran up her stomach and down yet again to rest gently at the side of her stomach. His other hand was at the moment sliding upward and gently resting at the back of her head, giving him control to deepen the kiss further. He was enjoying this greatly, something he had not been allowed to do with his condition for the past two days.
