The new form of Yu smiled at her response, she didn't jump out of her skin and return to the living world like most, meaning that the next sight would not cause her to jump either. "I think you would be interested to know what the spiritual form of your lover is as well.... I want you to follow me..."
He began to walk through the never-ending sea of white in front of him, as though he knew exactly where he was going. He walked as though he was still inside of the ship as before, walking along the same pathways and through a mass of spirits that represented the others, some were hideous, others were beautiful, some weren't even remotely humanoid. But as he pointed out Nex's, it came into view. He had the same red hair as his true form, only it was longer, he had two small fangs jutting out of his mouth, he was much paler than his human form. He also looked much stronger than he was in his true form, and the way he stood, he seemed to not even know the two were even there. "Do not be alarmed if he does not respond.... He is not in the spirit form... Notice something..." he pointed at his eye, a great scar along his entire face which removed the perfection that would be there without it, "Thus... the toils of the spirit world take its physical toil as it would seem.... and his spirit world name.... well.... You know it as Rastanaste.... He has a different life in the spirit world.... as you will soon learn that you will have your own life.... Now begins your training...." |
Cara hesitantly followed after the spiritual form of her teacher, looking at the new world she found herself in. It was quite different than their own. She was a bit startled at some, looking more like... well, creatures.. not humans. Nex? she thought for a moment as his figure came into view. No.. She was a little surprised, finding that he did not seem human as some of the others had. She turned her gaze back to Yu, listening to what he had to say. She bit her lip a little, confused. Another life? It's so... odd.
He laughed softly, "Now you see why people can spend days at a time meditating, there is a lot to do on the other side!" He smiled and rose his hand in the direction of where they had originally came from, soon after, a black aura came from that direction, "There is no limitation to what your spirit can do! Defend yourself Cara!" out of that aura a single form came forth, it was a disgusting creature entirely covered in black, similar to the creature which attacked Nex that sent them back to the planet. The creature roared soon after and sent himself in a mad dash toward Cara.
A voice echoed through her head soon after, In the spirit world you have no limitations to summon your energy.... Have you ever seen a mage before? Think of their magic.... it is similar to your energy.... Use it. |
Cara's eyes widened in horror. A mage?! This is insane! She then felt a rahter harsh tug at ehr heartstrings, seeing the creature attack Nex. No.. not again. Cara wasn't sure what exactly she was supposed to do, but she did what she.. somehow, instinctly felt. Something resembling fire was shot forth at the disgusting creature, and Cara hoped she had delivered a hit to the revolting thing.
The creature screamed in a great pain and seperated into 3 of the same creatures in response. "Now..... close quarters..... show me the same energy... Only now..... from close range..." The three creatures did not take more than a few seconds before moving at a high speed in her direction. The creature was barely a few feet away before its jaws opened widely, the other two stayed behind and watched as their counterpart took the woman at close distance.
Cara shook her head. This world... it blew her mind. However, when the creature came near, she did something she didn't know she had the instinct to do. She got into a fighting stance. The same energy? Okay, let's pretend I'm 8 and I'm playing with Xander again.. She smiled a little, her childhood memories coming back to her for a moment. I can do this... As the creature came close enough, Cara did what she felt the need to do. She took a step forward, focused on what she had before, and fired three consecutive shots, coming from what looked like punches. The fire-like aura shot out of her hands as they barely tapped the creature.
Cheng Yu smiled again and looked at the remaining two of the creatures, deciding on something else, he walked in the direction of the two, standing in the middle, he saw the third creature dissolved into nothingness in front of him. "Now! Think fast!" his hands entered where the creature's stomachs were and they turned into pure energy, he sent his palms forward in his own energy blast of pure white. He awaited her to respond to it before beginning what he had planned next.
Cara knew something was coming when Cheng Yu went in the direction of the creatures. Again, unconsciously, she got into the same fighting stance. When he said think fast, she wasn't sure what to think, but when she saw the blast of energy coming towards her.. She took a step forward, her arms spreading apart, forming a shield of the same firey substance, blocking the energy from hitting her. Cara stared in surprise at her own hands.
Cheng Yu watched as his weakened aura blast dissolved into nothingness behind her shield, he clapped and laughed merrily as he looked at how she reacted, "You are a natural born warrior! You did it all on instinct... Now tell me... Which of the three things do you feel more comfortable doing....?" he crossed his arms shortly after as three weapons appeared floating in front of him, one was a simple staff, the other, a sword, and the last one, a bow and a quiver of arrows, "Do not say it..... Simply pick your weapon... The staff represents defense, The Bow represents distance.... and the sword represents Attack.... The three different types of attack you displayed just moments ago..."
Cara was happy that she had seemed to have pleased her teacher again. She smiled for a moment, before she was a bit surprised by his words. Natural born warrior? She didn't think so. But, maybe... she might be wrong. She listened again to her teacher's words before thinking about it for a moment. What seemed more natural to her? After a moment or two, she approached the weapons, her hand automatically going to grasp the sword. It felt the easiest to her.
The old man saw her unexpectedly grab for the sword, he rose an eyebrow as she did this. "Now.... This is unexpected..." he said out loud as he turned toward the remaining two of the weapons, the dissolved into nothingness, as all that was left yet again was the two of them and the never-ending sea of white. "We are done here... Unless you want to know anything else about the spirit world... I suggest returning to your body, it is as easy as having the desire to do so in order to return."
Cara looked down at the sword oddly. It was heavy, yes, but it didn't seem so in her hand. She had no clue as to why she had chosen such a weapon... but it did seem more natural. Shrugging the thought off, she looked up to listen to Cheng Yu. Cara nodded, and took one last look around. She then closing her eyes, returned to her body.
The familiar scenery of the ship came back to life as the two returned to their bodies, the old man was still standing in his similar position, pipe in hand and the smoke around him slowly reaching the ceiling, the ship was moving now, the engine humming lightly and causing the ship to vibrate from its power. Nex was right outside the closed door, he was leaned up against the wall, there was not much to do until Cara finally got out of training.
The old man smiled as she was now in her body, he could feel her spirit return, he took another drag of his pipe and exhaled the sweet smelling fumes from his mouth, "How do you feel?" he said in a very relaxed tone. |
Cara opened her eyes, blinking a few times. She looked at where they were for a second, remembering that they had left. Looking at her hands, she was glad to see the familiar sight, rather than her spirit form. Looking at Cheng Yu, Cara smiled a little. "Alright." There wasn't much she could say to that, she didn't feel good necessarily, but she didn't feel bad either. It was somewhere in between.
Then something else crossed her mind. I wonder what Nex is doing.. Probably off busy doing something. She smiled a little at the mere thought of him. |
Cheng Yu exhaled another puff of smoke out again, this time the smoke nearly reaching Cara, but rising up just before it had any contact. "Tell me Cara, do you have any weapons with you? The sword was left behind in the spirit world... after all, it is only a prop." he sighed and looked behind him at the large, metal crates, then back at her, "I'm sure we could raid their stash of weaponry if you have no weapons... But from what Nex has told me, you still have a low grade plasma sword you recieved from a space pirate?" he asked, wanting to see it for himself.
The tendrils of smoke coming from her teacher's pipe smelt oddly sweet to Cara, and she guessed it was probably some kind of herb. Her smiled faded for the most part, hearing of their stash of weapons, as he called it. She wasn't fond of weapons. Cara nodded when he asked about the plasma sword she had taken, slipping it out of her bag. She didn't feel the need to mention the gun she stole from the cave, thinking it probably wouldn't be of any use.
Yu examined the weapon for a few moments, he took the weapon and examined it with a small smile, "Low grade plasma blades will not last long in the field of combat, can you feel the blade falling apart in your hands as you use it?" he swung it once near her head, the blade clicked shortly afterwords and he handed it back, "Due to the fact that speedy attacks seem useful in battle.... I am going to give you a gift...."
He reached in a small metal crate just to the left of him, pulling a shining blade out, he exposed the plasma of it short after. The energy of the blade reaced out to about 45 inches before it stopped, the light of its green glow escaping it, the hilt was embroided with a silver, it was beautiful. "Get a feel for this and tell me what you think..." he tossed the blade to her, allowing her to examine and use it as she wished, deciding if she liked it or not. |
Cara didn't feel the need to flinch or try to dodge as Yu swung the blade near her head. She trusted that he wouldn't kill her like that, if he did at all. She was surprised when he mentioned giving her a gift, especially when she saw the amazing blade. She stared in amazement for a few seconds, taking it carefully as he handed it to her. She looked down at it in admiration, fingers trailing along the silver-embroidered hilt. Cara then lifted her gaze back to Cheng Yu, bowing her head a little. "Thank you, Master. It's beautiful.."
Yu laughed loudly and smiled at her, "Don't thank me just yet! That blade isn't free! You are going to work your butt off for it when this is all over! I invite you to my house when you return! I promise to teach you all I know about fighting! So my knowledge will not go to waste, as it will at least be in one intelligent mind by the time i enter the spirit world forever." He sighed, "As for now.... I'm old.... I need to take a break.... I need to get a drink and go to sleep for the night... If you need anything.... Just ask Nex, he knows where I will be..." Yu walked out of the room without another word, releasing a loud yawn shortly after to display how tired he was.
Cara smiled. She had no intention of taking back her 'thank you', she meant it. She would have even said thank you again, had he not left so quickly. She was glad he would teach her.... very glad. He seemed to be very intelligent and very strong, which was something she would need of a teacher if there was any hope of her gaining anything in fighting experience and knowledge. It was only after he mentioned sleep that she grew weary. Cara realized how tired she was, and her muscles still ached from sleeping on the floor for most of the previous night. She walked out of the room, letting out a small yawn as she did so.
Nex caught her as she walked out of the room, his eyes that never slept locked upon her as she exited the cargo bay. He smiled and spoke happily upon her return, "I guess the training was good, you look tired." he said, allowing her to walk further outward before opening his arms to invite her into a hug, "Come on.... I'll show you to our room." he eyed the sword which was given to her by Yu, "Hmmm, what is that?" He stared at it in awe for a few moments, "what an impressive blade... did Cheng give it to you?"
Cara's face lit up when she saw Nex again. She gave him a hug, smiling despite her sleepiness. "Alright." she said, letting go of him so they could walk towards their room he had mentioned. All she really wanted at the moment was sleep... but she was happy to see Nex again. Especially after that. Cara nodded when he asked about the sword, smile not fading from her face. "Yes, he did.. In return, I get to work my ass off training under him. Which is good for me both ways.."
Nex smiled and kept himself within her arms, keeping his eyes on her the entire time, as she spoke, listening. "Nothing in life that makes it worth living is free i guess... come on... Lets go..." Nex took her by the hand and lead her down the steel hallways that seemed to never end.
After traveling through the maze of steel, he reached the area that she had badly needed, a sleeping quarters. He placed his palm on a scanner just to the left of the door, after a few beeps, it finally opened for the two to enter, it was not much, a double bed just as Nex had requested. And a dresser just in case they needed a place to put things. He walked into the room first, the electronic door kept open for her entrance, the room was dark, it was hard to see. |
Cara nodded, slipping her hands into his as they walked through the steel halls. Just her she was sure she'd fall asleep while walking, they arrived at the room. She couldn't help but smile once the door opened, spotting the bed. It looked so inviting... the rest of the room didn't seem like much but she was rather happy at the thought of sleeping in a bed again for once. Not that she had been complaining. Cara walked through the door after Nex, eyes adjusting to the dimness of the room, and set her bag down on the floor before walking over to the bad and sitting on one side. She sighed contently, laying back onto the mattress.
He sat at the edge of the bed on the left side, awaiting her to join him. The room was about as metallic as the rest of this dull ship, as seen as soon as the lights scanned signs of human life. Nex stretched soon after and looked up at the ceiling, the lights temporarily blinding him, he tilted his head downward, shaking it.
Something odd was happening with the bed though, Nex didn't seem to notice this, a small ball-shaped object was moving around behind him, to the left, then the right, and it repeated this process which seemed hard wired into its head over and over again. the covers were barely moved, and Nex was conserving energy by keeping his scanners off, so the ball continud to move left and right in a repetative fashion. |
