Death's Cathedral (Open and accepting!)
Far away, in a land unknown, stands a dark cathedral. It is always night about this cathedral, a never ending palace of darkness. Upon approaching this cathedral, one will see a great sign. "Death's Cathedral" The sign reads. All those who have searched out this dark place, have either been in great despair, or very brave. Most of those who enter the cathedral rarely leave. Some say it is Eden on the inside. Others say Death itself comes and takes your soul. But both assumptions are wrong, for within Death's Cathedral is only a maze. Up and down. Left to right. A never ending maze of hallways and rooms with only one man with the map on his person. This youth has kept the map secret for thousands of years, for he is immortal. But with immortality comes a price; the youth can never leave the cathedral. And so he brings forth those who might keep him company towards the dark palace using their fears, despairs, bravery, and foolishness. No one yet knows the reason why those who enter the cathedral near never leave, and that is what keeps them coming back. |
Rules: Follow Menewsha TOS (naturally) God-moding is allowed on a small level. You can make your RPC immortal (like mine) but if you are immortal, you must have many fears and faults. Romance is much loved (haha) but if you want to go farther than PG-16, take it off the thread. Fighting is also welcomed, but no killing another's RPC unless you have their consent as well as my own. If you no longer wish to participate in this role-play, please PM me saying so and we can plan your RPC an epic death. Your RPC dying some awesome death is better than you just disappearing. Only two RPCs per person at a time. If one RPC dies, you may make another one to replace it if you so wish. I'm going for a semi-lit role-play here, so please, no chat speak, try to get at lest five lines out, and when talking in OOC please use "(( ))", "[ ]", "(OOC: )", etc. If you wish to join, please send me PM with your profile. Make the subject for your PM, "S'thead Lardehtac". PM me if you have any questions. As creator of this role-play, I can change the rules if needed. Have fun! |

Username:Username: Closet Shadow Name: Nicolas H.A. Rawdroll Race: Unknown Age: Forgotten, but nineteen was the age he became immortal. Weapon(s): Scythe, and two of these Magic: Fire magic, Black magic, Flight. Background: Most of Nicolas' memories are lost to time, but he does remember how this all came about: It was his nineteenth birthday. He was a prince. Son of a great tyrant and ruler. His mother and Father both had looked fondly down at him as the guests flooded in. They loved Nicolas and Nicolas loved them. It was a great party! The biggest party since the beginning of the kingdom. Nicolas was thankful towards all to helped make it this good. Everyone in the kingdom was invited. But one stranger form an outside realm appeared at Nicolas' party. "Dearest prince," the stranger had said. "I come bearing a gift that will last you forever." said the stranger. And without a word of yes or no from Nicolas, the stranger bestowed his gift upon the young prince. There was no flash of light, no plume of smoke, just a gesture and Nicolas knew what he had been given. This just got bad after that. Nicolas' mother died of old age, for she was part human. Nicolas' father went crazy after that and committed suicide. Then the kingdom fell apart and all that is now left is what was once the great castle. Over the years, Nicolas has used his power to create an enchanted maze within the black palace. And now, everyone has either left, or died and he waits again for someone to come knocking on his door. Setting: These are the Front gates: http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...t/lacoste1.jpg The inside, is much more welcoming. There are nine levels to the cathedral. The first two, and the top floor are the ones with the least amount of maze and are the easiest to get around on. Level one: Level one of the cathedral includes both ground floor within the cathedral and the many gardens outside. The ground floor contains a number of kitchens, dining halls, lounges, and the likes. The ground floor is basically like a very large, very complex, house repeated over and over again. The ground floor is probably the least confusing place in the cathedral other than the top floor. The gardens surround the outside of the cathedral like a mote. They are all that is left of the once great courtyard that thrived here. The gardens host a many number of plants, and are placed in patterns. If you find yourself in a beautiful garden filled with roses and tulips, if you leave that garden to another, you will most likely find yourself in a bramble of thorns. In you first come to the bramble of thorns and other such deadly plants, if you leave that garden to another, you will come upon the fresh sent of herbs and other such eatable plants. The gardens continue in that order, over and over again. The bramble gardens are the one to fear. They consist of twisting mini-mazes that lead to dead ends over and over again for the walls move to keep you trapped there. Level two: Level two is mostly large and extravagant rooms for sleeping. There are large bathing area, as well as private showers. Also, lining the entire outside of the second floor are large balconies where one can marvel in the bright light of the eternal moon. Each room varies in size and extravagance, but they all are fit for royalty. Most rooms contain one large bed, one vanity, one spacious enchanted walk-in closet that will conjure up and clothes you wish, and one private bathroom. Though, some rooms contain double this. Most of the beds are dressed in canopies and are quite comfortable. The larger bathrooms for groups of people are more like hot-tubs or steam-pools where the water is constantly hot and welcoming. The size of the tub differs form room to room, just as everything else int eh cathedral. In each room, all entire wall is covered in mirrors. In some rooms, usually the larger ones, the door in the one thing that does not have a mirror on it. But in the smaller rooms, one must me wary when closing the door or be trapped inside the steamy room until you find it again. The balconies vary in size but are always large enough to fit at least ten people. The door leading out to the balconies vary between rooms. Some are large glass doors that you can see right through. Others are draping curtains, flowing the the soft wind. This level is confusing in the way that every hall looks the same, so there is no real way to tell whether or not you are going in the right direction. Level three: Level three is all open. Not one wall on the entire floor. But what is there, is many many spiral staircases. Each staircase leads to a different floor. Some lead down, some lead up. Some lead to nowhere and you have to climb all the way back down. There is enough room on level three in between all the staircases for dancing and can be used as a giant ballroom. Chandeliers dot the ceiling and tables along the edge are always filled with beverages and bite-sized snacks. Levels four, five, six, and seven: These four levels are nothing but constant maze and confusion. There are some rooms to sleep in and there are some bathrooms to relax in, but with the walls constantly changing and moving, it is hard to find them. The floors of these levels are thick with a soft carpet, so if you must, you may sleep on the floor. There are staircases leading both down and up all around these floors, but one must be clever to find them. Level eight: Level eight of the cathedral is a treasury. The walls themselves are embedded with riches. Gold coins lay scattered about the floor and gems of all kinds may be found everywhere. Here, the walls do not move, but the floor does. Be careful where you step, for you might trigger a trap door that leads you down a shoot onto a soft landing on level three, four, five, six, or seven. Level nine: Level nine of the cathedral is Nicolas' dwelling. There is no magic or enchantments here. It is a dark place, shrouded in black, red, and purple silk curtains. There is but one room, Nicolas'. It is much larger than any of the rooms on the second floor and in the center is a large canopy bed, always made and tidy. Nicolas has a large closet where he keeps his favorite garbs from the enchanted closets below. His bathroom is a mix between a private shower and a seam-pool. The rest of the floor is mostly empty and spacious with a lounge chair here and there. What really makes the ninth floor the best is the balcony. The entire west wall is a wall of glass leading out onto a large balcony half the size of a ballroom. |
Nicolas sat on the edge of his balcony, sipping a glass of wine he had recovered from the third floor. The cathedral was empty now. Nicolas hated these times when he was all alone. And yet, he enjoyed them. The quiet, the dark, it was both welcoming and repulsing. As was everything about his life now. A soft warm wind blew against his cheek, it was spring on the outside world now. Nicolas favored spring.
Having finished his wine, Nicolas went back inside. There was little to do in the cathedral now. The enchantments worked themselves, and had even evolved from their original casting. Sometimes Nicolas thought it would be nice to have a lover, someone to hold, but the memories of his father's death kept him from getting to close to someone romantically. In fact, he had not kissed a woman in a very very long time. Being bored, Nicolas decided to wander about his lonely home. He went down to the eighth floor and walked around for a little bit. He watched the gems sparkle and listened to the clink of coins as he walked. But he no longer cared for riches, what was he to use them for anyway? Then he descended down to the third floor by a staircase that lead strait down without any stops. The fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh floors were the ones that had changed the most and Nicolas hated them, but did not change them. He had no idea if his magic would ever runout one day, and he would rather endure the changing mazes than be left without any magic. He reached the ground floor with ease from there. He wandered the halls, looking at the candle-lit walls where painting once hung. One could see the difference in the wood. At the very front of the cathedral, right down a hallways where the front gate stood, Nicolas stopped. It might have been too soon to start waiting, but there simply was nothing else to do. So he started a fire my hand, and sat there, waiting. |
Vincent arrived at the Door of the cathedral. "Aye, well this is where i'm meant to be...looks odd." Vincent looked up to the tip of the Cathedral "wow...cool." Vincent walked up to the Door and pressed a hand against one. "Ooh..." He knocked on the large Door "H-hello?" he peered through the gap and continued to knock. "is the Kaiser here? Helloooo~" He called through the door.
|
Nicolas heard someone calling from the front gate. He had to restrain himself from jumping up and running to the door. Getting up calmly, Nicolas strode to the door. The hallways was long and dark, but that was how Nicolas liked it. Light from the moon shone through the crack in the door and lit up the first few feet of the hall. Standing just outside of the door was a young man. He looked about nineteen. Nicolas stopped so that he was barely out of the shadows, taking the mysterious approach this time. "May I help you, sir?" He asked formally. The young man had called for someone named "Kaiser" as Nicolas came up the hallway. He wondered who this Kaiser was.
|
Vincent attempted to budge the door opena bit more. "I'm Vincent, i'm the Heir to the Kaiser, are you not a Vekk? I was told to come here..." He shifted his head around to get a better glimpse of the man he was speaking to. "Can i come in?"
|
"Vekk"? The world grows larger and lager. Nicolas thought. Nicolas waited for the man to be done with his questions before he answered. "Of course, please come in." He said, gesturing with his hand for Vincent to come in. "But I'm sorry to say that I am here all alone. I know not of whom you speak, or of what a Vekk is." He said, turning slightly, ready to lead Vincent down the dark hallway.
|
"That's Impossible, I had direct orders to come here, i don't think the kaiser would lie to me, Is this a trick, because the only reason we're sent to distant places without anyone would be to..." Vincent paused for a second. "Ah...." His arms drooped. " They wanted me dead...."
|
Nicolas frowned as Vincent's mood fell. "Why would your own people want you dead?" Nicolas asked. There could be any number of things, but from the looks of things, Vincent had not really seen this coming.
After a moment or two standing in the shadows, Nicolas held out his hand. "Please come in. I've food and drink. We can talk over your distress in fornt of the fire." he said kindly. A lot of people came here or were sent here to die. Of course, Nicolas did not kill them, but the mazes might. |
"Because i Like other Creatures...." He smiled lighter at the hand of this Odd man "What's your name?..." Vincent Stumbled as he tried to get through the door without opening it any further. "Food sounds good, i haven't eaten in months!" He chuckled.
|
Nicolas frowned. Liking another creature or race was hardly something to condemn another to death for. But he showed his new guest in. To Vincent's question Nicolas answered "I'm Nicolas.. Rawdroll." he said. Nicolas paused before saying his last name. It was getting harder and harder to remember his whole name. But Nicolas perked up once more as Vincent agreed to food.
The hallway was still dark when they walked down it, but light from the fire in the great hall gave them a light to see by. Once in the great hall, Nicolas set the magic kitchen to work cooking a meal for two. "Wine while you wait?" Nicolas asked Vincent, pouring himself a glass of red wine. |
"Wine?" Vincent Stared blankly "What's that?" he smiled still, new things made him happy. "Nicolas is a nice name" When vincent noticed the wine being poured he shivered slightly. "Is that Blood?"
|
Nicolas chuckled at Vincents questions. "No, ti's not blood. This is wine. It's fermented fruit, usually grapes." he said, pouring a small amount of wine for Vincent. "Sip it slowly. This wine is very strong." he cautioned, handing the young man the glass. When you lived for thousands of years, your wine became quite ripe.
|
Vincent Clasped the glass with both hands "Thank you" He lifted it to his lips and took a small sip. "..." he lowered the glass, still in his hands witha rather odd look on his face. "Woah...i feel Wierd..." He giggled and took another sip. "This is lovely" Vincents Lips Reddened with each sip as some of the wine clung to him. "mmmmn"
Vincent clasped the glass and took a sip "Mmmn this is Excellent" He smiled lightly. "Thank you~" He returned to sipping away at his wine, slowly and steadily causing his lips to turn red from the wine. "Aaaaah" |
((OOC: Hey, Vince, if you want to change a post, look on the bottom right-hand corner of your post. There'll be a little blue link bubble thing with scissors on it that says "Edit". Click that, and you can edit your post. Just FYI ^3^))
Nicolas smiled as Vincent seemed to like the wine. There was the sound of a silver bell in the room next door. "Dinner is ready." Nicolas said, leading Vincent to the dining hall where the food was set. A wide varieties of food were set on the table and Nicolas shook his head. Of course his magic would cook more food than needed, but all was well. If someone new arrived, there would be enough to share. |
"Are you sure there aren't any others?" He smiled almost Drooling as he stared at the food. " That's Quite alot" His smile Grew and grew, Vincent went to the table and took a seat. "Let's Eat!" He chuckled and took another sip of his wine.
|
Nicolas sat down at a random seat at the round table and shook his head. "No others. I've been waiting for someone to drop by for at least a year now..." he said, his mood changing once again. He watched as Vincent dug into the food. Maybe there would not be enough for another if someone showed up. The yet again brought Nicolas' mood up. He took another sip of his wine and cut himself up a slice of steak. As he ate, he watched Vincent's reaction to the wine. It was quite amusing. Most people that came to the cathedral knew what wine was, but of course there were the few that did not. It was funny how alcohol affected the brain when it was first used.
|
"Why dont you go out" He spoke between each chunk of food he gulped down. "It's Lovely, the Human world is so beautiful" His smile was pretty much going to stay on his face for the whole meal. "Why wait for others?"
|
Nicolas sighed. "I cannot leave. I am bound to this place." he gestured around him. "I have been bound here for thousands of years, forever immortal." and his mood dropped again. That night, the stranger, that was where it had all started. His chewed more slowly now. Remembering what had happened. He had watched everything fall apart....
Nicolas snapped out of his daze and came back to the present. He was doing that more often now. Maybe it was all the stray black magic floating around that sent him back to such dark places in his mind. |
"Oh, i'm sorry to hear that" He sighed. "What's it like being Immortal?" He smiled again. "Vekks only like for a few thousand years..." He frowned slightly. "Anyway, isn't this food great?" He raised his hands in a small cheer. "I'm sure other people will come"
|
Nicolas chuckled. "At first, immortality is like a gift. In fact it twas a gift in my case. But once you find yourself outliving all those you care about, immortality is more like a curse. Especially when you can't leave to find some company." he said, again fading into a daze about the night he became immortal.
Vincent's comment on the food brought Nicolas back. "Is it truly that good?" he asked. "Tell me, what are your people, the Vekks, like? I've never heard of them before." Nicolas asked, he was very curious why Vincent was sentenced to death for simply liking another race. |
"We're a really...shall we say, stuck up species, Yeah" He smirked. "We aren't allowwed to like other creatures except ourselves...and we have emporers, or kaisers as we and german humans call them, they make the rules that the queen considers" He sighed. "She's a baddie" he chuckled. "Anyway, one of the oldest rules is to never have affection for other species, but i love humans and cats...." He sighed.
|
Nicolas chuckled as Vincent finished. "You do belong to a very stuck up race." he said, taking another bite of steak. "Not allowed to have no affection for another species? Sound very much like they wish to keep the blood of the race clean. There were a few races like that here when it twas a kingdom." he said, remembering slightly. But he was brought back when Vincent mentioned cats. "Truly? I have a love for cats as well. I know many cat find their way here, but finding them is another thing." he said with a smile. Usually the cats got lost in the bramble mazes. But Nicolas ventured around enough to find them and take them to his floor.
