Hello, and welcome to
The Darkwinds Tavern/Inn
I created the Inn a long, long time ago when I first got into Role Playing. It is a large inn, the entire first floor is a tavern. It is located in a large forest far from any town. It was created by a man who had no way of getting back to where he came from with a dream of preventing this travesty to other travelers by providing them with a sanctuary until they found their way. Now it is looked after by a satyr named Sardonis and a crew of 5 other men (all played by me). Please come in and have a drink.
There is no application or character profile needed to play, but if you would like to post a character profile, let me know and I will add it to this thread. I like having profiles available for my patrons to view.
RULES:
-Be literate.
-Be courteous.
-Do not stray from the theme.
(No modern or sci-fi characters, remember the setting)
-Do not cause random chaos.
-No dramatic vastly story changing entries/posts.
(IE--He ran into the bar bleeding terribly from the chest, 'I am going to die if you don't do something NOW!"--)
- Obey all other Menewsha rules.
CHARACTER PROFILES
Played By: ShiroChaan
Name: Sardonis
Age: 24
Race: Satyr
Occupation: Inn's Care-Taker
Sardonis is a satyr from the high cliffs to the east. He enjoys to travel and spent most of his life exploring the world. He came across the inn when it's founders, Kensunea and Kehi, were about to abandon it and leave it to a young boy named Jaigo. Sardonis decided to settle here so that he would have more encounters with the strange people that do as he once did and travel the world. Jaigo, not wanting the responsibility of caring for an inn, relinquished his title to Sardonis who graciously accepted.
Sardonis is very friendly and always offering to lend a hand, however, he is not a pushover or someone to be taken lightly. He speaks his mind when necessary and is never hesitant to kick someone out of the bar for being discourteous. He has a tendency to become very attached to anyone that shows him and his friends kindness. He is very protective and fatherly toward Jaigo.
Played By: ShiroChaan
Name: Jaigo
Age: 16
Race: Human
Occupation: Sardonis' Assistant
Jaigo is a skinny lad with a long, silver ponytail that hangs to his mid-back and strikingly green eyes.
Jaigo's parents died at a very young age, leaving the boy to fend for himself. He came across The Darkwinds and was taken in by Kensunea and given food and shelter. Jaigo eventually made friends with a woman (who's name escapes my mind) who treated him as a mother would treat her child. He became very fond of her but was heart broken when she disappeared. He now spends most of his time whittling at the bar.
Jaigo comes off as cold to most that meet him. He is very quiet and sometimes very cruel to the patrons of the bar, but is usually scolded by Sardonis.
Played By: ShiroChaan
Name: Kane
Age: 27
Race: Bastis (half feline, half human named for the Egyptian Goddess, Bast, who was an anthropomorphic cat.)
Occupation: Chef
When Kane was 12 he stowed away on a pirate ship, searching for adventure. He was not murdered on sight thanks to his cunning and wit and was instead appointed the title of Lookout. Kane spent most of his life on the sea, earning his way up the pirates' respect ladder until he eventually commandeered his own ship and crew. When he was 23 his ship had fallen apart and most of his crew was dead or bailed on him. He landed in a port near the inn and wandered until he found the DarkWinds. He stayed at the inn for a long while and eventually was hired by Kensunea to be the huntsman. When Seff, the former chef disappeared, Kane took up his job and has had a steady job since.
His room is a treasure trove of strange artifacts and items that he has collected throughout his life. He is a pack rat and tends to take anything that he finds worthy of his collection. He is pert and usually sarcastic, but overall a pretty decent guy.

Jaigo sat at the bar, a chunk of wood in his left hand, a carving knife in the other. Despite the wood shavings piled at the foot of his barstool, the piece was not yet recognizable. His green eyes flicked toward the staircase as the familiar sound of Sardonis' hooves clunking down the stairs echoed through the common room.
"Good morn, Jaigo." Sardonis kind azure eyes greeted the boy as soon as the satyr turned the corner toward the bar. The boy nodded in reply. Sardonis let out a sigh and proceeded behind the bar where he began taking mugs that had been left to dry after the previous night and placing them onto the mug-holder that overhung the bar. He offered the boy a smile when he caught his gaze, but Jaigo remained silent.
"This again?" The satyr put his hands on his hips and looked at the boy, shaking his head, "What am I going to do with you? Your mood does nothing to brighten the morning." He sighed and rubbed at his temple, "Will you at least tell me what you want for breakfast?"
"Toast." Jaigo replied swiftly and returned his attention to his carving.
Sardonis nodded and walked back to the kitchen, surprised when Kane, the cook, was already preparing the stove, "Kane, the order for Jaigo is toast. Have some eggs and bacon cooking for the guests."
Sardonis made his way back into the common room and took two mugs, filling them with lemonade as he gazed at the door, awaiting someone to lighten his mood, or at least occupy him. He swept his rust-colored bangs from his eyes and begin gathering plates for the morning rush of patrons from the previous night gathering for breakfast.

Out in the woods, Link was sitting on a tree stump, arms resting upon one of his knees as his foot was on the stump, his other foot, upon the ground. He had his eyes closed, he was smiling slightly, enjoying the peaceful sounds of nature around him, birds chirping, the wind blowing by and the rustling leaves in the trees. However, this peace was broken when his shadow flew up into the air, taking on the form of his friend Midna, she floated in front of Link's face, "are you done resting yet?" She asked him, folding her arms and sitting down, legs criss-crossed in the air. Link slowly opened his eyes, smiling at his impatient friend, he stood up.
"Yeah, lets go" he said, continuing their travels, Midna floated by his side, "I think we're lost, Link..." she said after constantly walking in circles through the forest, looking around them. Link stopped and looked around with her, he had a look of concern on his face, "I guess you're right..." He sighed and hunched over a little, he looked up through the trees, seeing the bright blue sky, "lets get a bird's eye view, shall we?" He jumped and grabbed a hold of a nearby tree, he climbed up it rapidly and stood on its highest branch, Midna floated up, quickly joining him.
Using his Hawk eye goggles, he scanned the forest, trying to find any houses, he quickly spotted the DarkWinds Tavern in the distance, zooming in a little bit. He removed the goggles and smiling, "nice, lets get over there!" He said, jumping across the tree tops, heading for the tavern, Midna floated behind him, trying to keep up the pace. He reached the end of the trees and jumped off the final branch, he then landed with a thud just a few inches from the Tavern's porch. Midna took this opportunity to disappear, returning his shadow, she'd show herself later, Link didn't notice though as he walked up the steps and stopped outside the door.
He could hear people talking from the window, he took a deep breath, exhaling, then he opened up the door and stepped in, closing it behind him.

Jaigo turned slowly and stared at the door with an expressionless as it opened. When the new comer was inside and the door shut behind him, Jaigo went back to his work. Sardonis looked up from the bar and offered his friendliest smile to their new guest, "Hello there, sir." He gave a small wave and reached for a mug, filling it with ice cold water from a barrel beside the bar. He held the mug toward the man, "Is there anything else I can get you?"
Jaigo watched as Sardonis greeted the customer with the same charm and grace as always, it disgusted him to see someone act so sugary sweet, it made him miss Kensunea's nonchalant ways. He offered the customer a half smirk and looked back down at the blade in his hand and the dragon it was creating.

Link was a bit surprised at the sudden offering of a drink, but he smiled and walked over, sitting next to Jaigo, he accepted the mug from Sardonis, "thanks, I was pretty thirsty" he took a quick drink. "Well, is it okay if I can get something for breakfast? Haven't eaten in the past two days..." he took another drink, and couldn't help but look at Jaigo and his creation in progress. He would've said hello, but he had a feeling he wouldn't get one in return, or maybe even a glare from the unsocial guy, so Link looked away from him and continued to drink his water.

Jaigo looked at Link as he took the stool next to him and offered him another half-hearted smile. The boy noticed the man watching him whittle and his smile widened, it always cheered him to have people take interest in his work. Sardonis smiled kindly, "Sure, we have some eggs, toast, and bacon cooking in the back, but if you'd prefer something else, I'll see what I can do."

"Oh, that sounds great actually, I'll have those, thank you" he pulled out his wallet from the item bag attached to his belt and he placed it on the counter. He put his mug down and reached into his wallet, he then slid two red rupees over toward Sardonis, "heres a tip" Link smiled kindly and drank his water once more. He then paid attention to Jaigo again, sensing his smile, he smiled back, "hey there, my name's Link, whats yours?" He tried his best to be kind and he hoped to not get the cold shoulder from Jaigo.

Sardonis took the rupees and studied them, he had only seen this type of currency in town for sale as gems. He put them in his drawer anyway, planning on selling them later. He then disappeared into the kitchen to fetch Link's food.
Jaigo looked up, his large green eyes fixing on the other. He smirked, the best impression of a smile he had, "Jaigo." He set his knife down carefully and offered his hand to Link.

Link shook Jaigo's hand, "interesting name, you're the only person I've ever met called Jaigo" he drank his water again, "I see you like to whittle, I made an Ocarina from such a method before." he reached into his item bag and pulled it out, it was flawlessly carved, smooth and not jagged, the perfect wind instrument. It had an carving of the Triforce just above the holes that you cover with your fingers, "would you like to try it? I haven't played it yet since I made it a few weeks ago" he placed it on the counter by Jaigo's knife and smiled kindly, then he drank the last of his water.

Jaigo nodded and set down his dragon before he picked up the ocarina carefully. He raised it to his lips and blew in gently- one beautiful, long note echoed into the tavern. He pulled it away and looked at it curiously, "How did you hollow it out?"
Sard returned with Link's breakfast and watched Jaigo handle the ocarina gently. He turned his attention to Link, "It looks and sounds beautiful." Noticing that the man's water was gone he took up the glass, "Would you like something else or is more water fine?"

Link tried to remember how it all went down, he didn't focus on the ocarina after he made it until now, "I believe my friend Midna helped me with that, but... it'd be nice if she'd show up to help me remember properly." He looked down at his shadow, giving it a short glare, however, he stopped focusing on that when Sard came back with his breakfast, he smiled happily, "thank you! Oh, water is just fine" he started to eat, not messily though, he wasn't THAT desperate for food, by this time, his shadow flew into the air, taking on the form of Midna, she floated down and sat in the stool next to Link. "I helped you hollow out that Ocarina alright, it was kind of a waste of magic... since you haven't played it yet!"
She sounded angry, but she calmed down to not draw any attention to them, Link swallowed and he smiled, "sorry Midna, I already have that Horseshoe Whistle Ilia gave me, it works just as good. We made that ocarina out of boredom..." he turned to Jaigo, "you can have it if you like, I won't miss it to be honest" he continued eating. Midna's stomach growled a little bit, she sighed, "great, now I'm hungry, thanks a lot Link" she pouted and folded her arms, Link laughed a little and kept eating.

Jaigo's eyes widened as his shadow moved and sat in the stool next to him. The last time he had seen something like that happen was when Kehi was around. Jaigo missed the two founders of the inn very much and all these reminders were not helping his mood. At the mention of letting him keep the ocarina his sad thoughts perished, "Really?" He thought it was a beautiful piece of craftsmanship and would cherish it always.
Sard watched Midna and smiled kindly, "You friend gave me more than enough to feed two patrons, would you like a plate?" He set Link's mug of water back on the bar, using his pinky as a cushion so that it wouldn't make a sound. He wiped the condensation on his waist cloth as he awaited her answer.

((Lol, ignore the non-flute parts of the song I provided.))
"Yes please, I'll have what hes having, thank you" she smiled kindly, "thanks!" Said Link when he picked up his mug, he took another drink, "its no problem Jaigo, I prefer the whistle anyway" he reached down his shirt slightly and pulled it out, revealing the necklace he was wearing. A wooden, horse shoe shaped whistle, attached to a metal hook, attached to the necklace, he let it dangle from his neck and continued eating. "Perhaps you should play something for him?" Midna suggested, Link swallowed, "I will after this last bite" he said, eating the said last bite.
Once he was done, he drank some more water and then held the whistle with a single hand to his lips, using his fingers and thumb to adjust the notes, he began to play this song, it grabbed everyone's attention. When the song ended, everybody in the tavern was clapping and cheering afterwards, Link and Midna both smiled, "glad to know I haven't gotten rusty" he took another drink of his water.

((Ballad of the Wind Fish is my FAVORITE Zelda song!! <3))
Jaigo smiled and listened carefully to the song, trying his best to remember it so he could begin trying to learn how to play it on his new wooden ocarina. When Sard returned with Midna's plate and Link's water, he stopped for a moment to listen. When the song finished he say down the plate and mug before he clapped a few times softly, "That was very nice."
Jaigo took the wooden ocarina and stuck it in the leather bag at his side. He would go to the lake and play it later. He picked up his dragon with the intention of finishing it now.

((Hell yeah, its awesome <3))
Link chuckled a little bit, "thanks" he said to Sard, then he looked at Jaigo, "would you like me to teach you how to play that song later?" He asked him, holding the whistle in his palm. Midna practically drooled at the sight of her breakfast, but she shook her head and smiled, laughing nervously, "thank you very much" she then began to eat, not as neatly as Link though, in fact very messily. Link laughed a little bit, "slow down Midna, or else you'll choke, are you even tasting the food?"
She nodded her head, her mouth was full, but then she swallowed, her face lit up, "its so good~!" She continued eating at her fast, messy pace, Link laughed even more, "sometimes I wonder whose more civilized, you or me?" He asked himself, drinking his water once more. Midna ignored him though and drank her water, "I haven't eaten in so long, don't expect me to be as neat and tidy as you, besides, you practically live outside, the dirtiest place to live."
Link looked away a bit, "oh yeah... you're right, well, is there a place we can stay here?" He asked Sard.

Sard chuckled lightly at Midna's mannerisms and then looked at Link, "Yes there is. But I have a proposal-- you can stay for free tonight if you agree to be the musical entertainment this evening." He crossed his arms and looked at the man from under his russet bangs.
Jaigo briefly considered Link's offer but shook his head, "No thank you, I want to see if I can figure it out myself." Jaigo had always been one to make things more difficult than they needed to be. He had always been fond of solving riddles and puzzles. He occasionally wandered into the woods, aimlessly, to enjoy trying to find his way back home.

"Oh, of course, I'd be honored actually" Link replied, removing the necklace, "any songs you recommend me to play?" He asked, twirling the whistle back and forth in his hand. Midna had quickly devoured her breakfast, she sat back on the stool and sighed happily, "much better..." she burped, then giggled afterwards, "excuse me." Link looked a bit disappointed, but respected Jaigo's decision, "very well, but if you ever need help, just ask me." He drank the last of his water and stood up, "just point me where I need to go to entertain" he said to Sard, his hand tightly wrapped around the whistle.
Midna smiled and drank the last of her water, then she disappeared, returning Link's shadow.

Jaigo grinned at Link, "I'll let you know if I need help." He was nearly finished with his dragon and blew the dust off of it the best he could and set it on the bar. He looked down at his sawdust covered self and sighed, brushing it onto the floor. He jumped off of his stool and went around the bar and grabbed a broom and began to sweep up his mess.

"Oh... "Hey Jaigo, do you know of any cool places around here? I don't want to stay cooped up inside all day, like Midna said, I practically live outside." He pulled his fishing rod off his back, it was twice as tall as him and he tried his best to not hit anything with it. "I was planning on possibly going fishing as you can see, want to come with me? A tall, elegant woman wandered into the tavern, her ragged cloak covering what looked to be a very beautiful and decorative black evening gown that hugged her veluptuous, yet not overbearing curves before flaring out around her knees. Her bouncy curls were held up by some unseen clip in a messy sort of updo; it was just to keep it out of her face while running. The boots she wore had big chunky heels and pointy toes.. The shiny black leather extended all the way up to her knees.
She walked slowly upto the bar, swinging her hips but wincing slightly with each step. She'd come here from a chase, and had hurt her ankle on a stray root in the forest while running. The pale woman sat down on a bar-stool, her bright green eyes peering around the tavern through ultralong, sparkling lashes. Pulling off her cloak, the girl also undid the clasp on her hair, letting it fall around her face and down her back, ending just before her hips. Looking very weary, she rested her head on her left arm and waited for someone to notice her. The long nails of her other hand slowly combed through her long raven curls.

Link grew excited and smiled at Jaigo's eagerness to get outside and go fishing, he held the fishing pole upright and headed toward the door, but stopped when the woman entered the tavern. Her beauty made Link blush slightly, he stepped off to the side so she could pass, he didn't know what to do now, should he help her or catch up to Jaigo? But, he just then remembered that Sard was here, he'll take care of her, so he headed outside, closing the door behind him. "Oh, don't worry, I will!" He said, laughing afterwards as he ran after Jaigo, slowly catching up to him.

Sard came out of the kitchen and smiled warmly at their new guest, sweeping a mug off of the holder and waving to her in a smooth, graceful motion. He filled the mug with cold water and brought it to her, hooves clunking against the hollow wooden floor as he went, "Here you are, miss. Is there anything else that I may get for you." His cool azure eyes gazed down at her. He was rather tall, he guessed he was six and one half feet tall when people questioned him, for he had never been properly measured. He brushed his bangs from his eyes and let his hand fall to his hip.

Once he and Jaigo reached the lake, he laid back on a rock upon the ground, hands being used as a pillow, one leg being supported on his knee and he moved his foot up and down slightly. His fishing pole was supported up by a stick shoved into the ground, he was waiting for a bite, as he waited he was holding his whistle with his lips, blowing random notes from boredom. He smiled as he did it though, enjoying the scenery around them and the bright sunshine, he let the whistle go and he sighed. "Its gorgeous out here, I feel sorry for anyone who misses this" said Link, he then continued to play around with the whistle afterwards.
His shadow flew up into the air, taking on the form of Midna, who then floated over and sat down, legs criss-crossed, on the bigger rock next to Link's. "I agree!" She said cheerfully, "I feel so much better in the light world... but, I do miss the calmness and beauty of my home world" she slouched a little bit, hands resting on her knees. Link frowned and blew a sad sounding note from the whistle, but he saw his fishing pole move in the corner of his eye, he spit out the whistle and grabbed the pole, pulling in his catch. He struggled a little, even though he was pulling with all his strength, he was being pulled toward the lake edge, he stepped back constantly, still pulling.
"Ugh! Come on... you... stupid fish!" He said as he struggled, Midna flew over and helped him pull, bubbles began to rise to the water's surface and soon the fish flew out of the water and fell on Link, knocking him back. "Oof!" Said Link as he fell, when he sat up though, it felt like his hips heavier, the fish in his lap looked to be about 60 pounds! "Wow..." Link said in amazement, he picked up the fish and did his best to carry it, "this is astonishing! Hey Jaigo! Should we take this back to Sard and have it cooked up? It would probably feed everyone in the tavern!" Midna helped carry Link's fishing pole for him and she floated by his side, they both waited for an answer.

Jaigo looked up from where he was trying to catch a butterfly in his cupped hands, "Huh?" He looked over his shoulders and saw the massive fish and gasped. He forgot about his butterfly and stood up, almost sprinting over to Link.
"Holy-- Link! You caught Gigas! Kane has been trying to catch that fish for forever!" He laughed and helped him lift it, "He'll be so mad, haha." The fish slipped from his arms once, twice and a third time before he got frustrated. He dropped the fish and ran back to the inn, calling over his shoulder, "I'll be back, ok?"
Jaigo ran into the inn and passed Sard and the new comer girl. He grinned at her and waved, dodging a glare from Sard-- who never liked it when people ran in the common room, it was too crowded and nine times out of ten, running resulted in a broken stool. Jaigo ran into the kitchen and around Kane, who looked at him, startled, "'Ey, lad. Ye best not be runnin' in the inn, you'll break stuff and get crushed under Sardonis' giant hoof." He grinned evilly and Jaigo made a mock face of fear, "Whatcha' in here fer anyway?"
"I need the cart." Jaigo huffed as he looked up at the tall feline-esque cook. Kehi shook his head.
"'M afraid you can't take that, now. I dun trust you with me things, child. After ye broke me crystal. I should wring yer scrawny little neck fer that, yanno?"
Jaigo looked apologetic and looked at Kane from under his long, silver bangs, he green eyes glistening with crocodile tears, "I'm sorry, Kane, really, really I am! But I must have the cart, we need it!" He quivered his lower lip and clung to Kane's apron, leaning on him.
Kane rolled his eyes, "Dun get sarcastic with me, lad." His fanged grin held more annoyance than anything and he waved Jaigo away, "Ok, take it, but if et's not back here in perfect shape, I'll have yer pretty little 'ead mounted on me bathroom wall."
Jaigo grinned up at the former pirate and released him. He grabbed the cart and pushed it through the saloon doors leading to the common room. The cart bumped the door frame as he ran and he smiled sheepishly over his shoulder at Kane, "Oops."
Kane glarred, "Ye'd better be offerin' me more than 'uups' when you come back with me broken cart." He rubbed his temples and waved the boy off again, "Go, go, yer makin' me nervous."
Jaigo maneuvered the cart out of the inn, ignoring the bizarre look Sard gave him, "What in the world could he be doing with that?"
Kane stood, rubbing his temples for a bit longer before returning to the stove, "That boy'd better be careful. I can't afford a new cart." He looked into his reflection in the soup he was making and frowned.
Jaigo sprinted across the field, cart bumping and creaking as he went. He reached Link and waved his hand over the cart exaggeratedly, "Ah? Ah?" He grinned and looked up at his new friend for approval.
