The worst vacation of your life...

However it is that you come by it, you wind up on a round the world cruise over summer break on one of the best and newest ships currently sailing the seven seas. You may be right and have paid for it in full, or any other type of member of society, as a large amount of free tickets were given out as prizes to celebrate their launch. Either way, you're busy doing whatever it is you do when aboard a cruise ship, hanging out in the middle of a sunshiny day when suddenly the news that the ship is sinking is made public. Just why or how it happened is a mystery, but either way you find yourself crammed into an escape raft alongside other passengers. Before the ship goes under, you're launched off from the ship to ride out the choppy waves in hope of being rescued.

Thankfully, after a day of floating on the ocean the raft runs ashore on a tropical island that seems deserted, tearing a large gash in the underside of the raft. It isn't a problem, though, as just who would want to fare the empty seas a second time? Someone gets the smart idea to make use of the nifty box of supplies put on every raft but soon discover that it fell overboard somewhere out in the ocean. This just leaves you as a member of the twenty-odd survivors with nothing to aid in survival but the clothes on your back and a large rubber raft with an irreparable hole in the bottom. As rain begins to fall on the rainy afternoon of your arrival it quickly becomes obvious that you need three simple things- food, shelter and a way to get home- fast.

...it's only just begun.

Guidelines...

Pretty much, your character is stranded on a deserted island with a bunch of people and nothing but a ruined raft of large proportions to get by with. Being a tropical island, there are fish in the waters and fruit on the trees. The forests are quite thick, so it would take quite the effort to go deep into them. Once in the forests, there are wild animals all about, so it would be a place to be cautious of. Not everyone is McGuiver, so keep that in mind when figuring things out. There will be something called curses that happen every so often. Just random misfortunes that strike the survivors out of the blue, though just what causes them is a mystery and no, your character probably wouldn't realize right off the bat that something wasn't right. Remember that your characters can hate each other as much as you'd like, just so long as you're kind to fellow role players.

The Lay of the Land...

That would be a map of the island. Areas outlined in yellow are beaches, green are forests, gray are mountains and the lighter gray lines mark the highest peaks on the mountains which are quite the climb. Forests are thick, beaches are sandy, mountains are rocky and the like. The blue lines indicate currents, which move at about three times the pace of walking. Riding a current would require a raft of sorts or something to float on, as the one on the left side of the map takes one quite far from shore at a point. Your characters do not have a map, nor do they have any idea of the lay of the land. Out to the right side of the island is a smaller one, past the turbulent currents. It's too far to swim to, and the current would stop you from boating to it, but the little island seems somewhat small.

Characters...

Username Your username, as in the username of the account that sent me the profile and will be taking part in this roleplay.
Name Your characters full name, including first, last and any middle name(s) they might have. Please, don't all give your character's Japanese names. The cruise originated in an English speaking country, so keep that in mind.
Age This can be anything as long as your character is over the age of three, as they should be able to move on their own by then.
Appearance What you're character looks like. Include hair color, eye color, skin color, height and weight as well as any defining features.
Personality How they act, react and all of that fun stuff.
History Anything important, who they grew up with, how they wound up on the cruise and who boarded the cruise with them.
Skills All special abilities that the character has. Don't go overboard, kay? If you don't mention a skill here, then it doesn't count at all.

These stats can be put in any order and any format with anything extra as long as you've included what I've got listed here. This is just the BARE MINIMUM, so adding a little extra is preferred.

The Survivors...
Quote:

Username: New Jersey
Name: Virginia Daniela Evans
Age: 15
Appearance: Virginia has short, flat, bright orange hair that goes up to her shoulders. She wears her hair down most of the time, but other times she might braid it. Her skin tone is pale, but she has gotten a bit of a tan from the cruise before they sank. She has dark green eyes. She’s very short for her age, 5’1’’, and weighs about 105 pounds.
Personality: Virginia is a very quiet person, she’d rather watch a conversation than be part of it. She does talk though, especially when she’s under pressure or when she’s nervous. She can also get very defensive, this being another way to get her talking, whether she’s defending herself or a friend, she won’t back down. Once she starts talking, you’ll find that she’s a very caring person.
History: Virginia is an only child, but she has several first cousins and a few second cousins, so she’s always had five people in her family around her age. She and her parents are the only ones to move out of New York and live in Connecticut. Her parents aren’t wealthy, they’re currently having economic problems, but they somehow won the lotto [for once] and gave the ticket the won to their daughter, Virginia. They couldn’t afford to buy a second ticket so one of them could go with her, so Virginia went out on the cruise by herself.
Skills: When it comes to archery, Virginia used to go to an archery range near her home all the time. Virginia has perfect aim, but she’s never killed an animal, more or less even wound one, nor does she ever plan to. Virginia is good swimmer, the best on her swim team, which makes up for the fact that she’s a very poor runner.
Other: Virginia is allergic to raspberries. Her allergies kick in only when she eats them, she’s fine if she smells them. Virginia is also terrified of spiders or any other small, multi-legged, bug-like creature.

Name Elke Whetu Hine bij de Vries, but she prefers "Sherbet" to any of her given names.
Age Twelve, but just a day short of Thirteen.
Appearance Sherbet is no doubt of Frisian decent with some Dutch and Maori thrown in there. This heritage isn't reflected too well in her outward appearance but it can be sometimes noted in her jaw line, eye shape and lightly tanned skin. In general she is a very thin girl with a few curves and large dark blue eyes. While her hair makes her stand out quite a bit, it can be pushed off as her own sense of individuality. Sherbet originally has hair of a pale blonde color, instead of being thrilled with it she found it easy to dye and made it a combination of pink, green and yellow in a seemingly random gradient-based order. Her clothing consists of neutral or muted colors and she always finds a way to incorporate a vest and/or a scarf in addition to stick on earrings, probably by her eyes. If she paints her nails she only paints them white, apparently there's no logic to this. Sherbet weights one-hundred twenty-one pounds and comes to five-foot six-inches tall.
Personality In short; Sherbet is loud. She likes to shout her sentences and give out spontaneous hugs. Making friends is easy for her and she loves to do so, but she isn't very close to her friends and has a habit of keeping her true feelings to herself. When it comes to anything she takes it seriously, no matter what it is and it's almost laughable on how serious she treats everything. The only thing she doesn't treat seriously is how she feels, if she's called out for being sad she is more likely to laugh it off then explain.
<3 Butterflies, rainbows, scarves, the Netherlands, bright colors, and cake.
</3 Bees, planes, holes in socks, rap, umbrellas and avocados.
History Growing up in a foreign country and then moving to America at the age of ten was quite difficult for Sherbet. When she enrolled in school and realized how people had difficulty with her name she decided to change it. It didn't take long for her to want to go back home but it was made obvious that her parents had no desire to return to the Netherlands and so she had to deal with it. The cruise idea was her mother's and it was supposed to an amazing birthday gift. Sherbet boarded with both her parents but since getting on the island she hasn't seen them.
Skills Sherbet is tri-lingual, being fluent in English, Frisian (West if you want to get technical) and Dutch. She knows some German and her knowledge of the language is comparable to child level; she knows her shapes, colors, numbers, major pieces of furniture and can identify family members. Besides her lingual background she's capable of basic things like reading, writing, climbing trees and swimming but has proven to be a better marathon runner than sprinter. She's too young to have any job skills however she desires to be a news anchor or reporter and often mistakes gossip for news, because she's always listening for it she's got sharp hearing, a good memory for repetition of facts and is quite the attentive sort of girl. From an early age she's mastered the art of eavesdropping and the poker face. Sherbet's people skills are amazing and she can read others' expressions quite well and pick up on their emotions or feelings. On top of all this she's quite capable of making people's eardrums bleed with how loud she is.

Username || ~Prototipo-Annette~
Name || Benedict "Bennie/Ben" Angel
Age || 11
Appearance || With downy blond hair, a baby face and a height of no more than four foot six inches, Ben is the striking image of a young boy. His eyes are a light olive color, a shade that seems almost to be grade, and his skin has a healthy glow to it regardless of the facts. For weight, he is an even 78 pounds, putting him at the scrawny end of normal, a statistic easily reflected in his appearance. Prone to chills, it's quite hard to catch Ben without a sweater of some sort on his body, no matter how warm the weather.
Personality || A little shy at first, Ben is the kind that really warms up to people once he gets to know them. He loves to be helpful, and is always thinking of ways to do things better than they've been done in the past. He's maternal in the sense that he's very attuned to other people's feeling and problems, wanting to help them out to the best of his abilities, which can be a little annoying at times. This means that he's quite sensitive himself and takes harsh words to heart. Ben is a very trusting person, but there is nothing that makes him more mad than for his trust to be betrayed. A modest person, Ben is likely to brush of compliments but that doesn't mean he won't take kind words to heart. Though an open person most of the time, emotions are something he tends to keep to himself. A laid-back person but a hard worker, Ben can't stand stress and caves completely when presented with it, typically resorting to childish hysterics.
History || Ben was born to a pair of five star chefs in the big city of New York where they worked like dogs in someone else restaurant. For awhile, until Ben was three, they kept with their hectic life style until their only child was diagnoses with a heart disease. After finding the child collapsed on the floor one day, they took him to a doctor only to receive the diagnosis that his heart was quite right. Too much stress or physical exertion could be deadly for the child if not only leave him possibly paralyzed from a heart attack, not to mention the fact that his constitution was left quite weak by his feeble heart. It wasn't dramatic enough to risk a transplant, but the family did relocate to a small town in main where they opened their own successful restaurant, raising their son to be just as good a cook as themselves. The cruise was something his parents thought would be a good idea for a fun family vacation, as Ben wasn't strong enough to attempt any of the more adventurous alternative he had in mind. When the ship started to sink, he was pushed off on one life boat while his parents were crammed in another. Since then, he's been left to his own devices, a little boy lost among the crowd of stranded survivors.
Skills || Ben is an excellent cook of both dessert and non dessert foods as he spent most of his life learning the skills of the trade. Similarly, he keeps himself educated on almost everything dealing with food from where bananas come from to just what no to eat when wandering in the lush forests of his home town. Though his parents constantly told him not to eat things outside of the kitchen, that didn't stop him from experimenting with whatever edible foods he could find in the woods, as he wasn't yet allowed access to everything in the kitchen. An avid reader- of cook books and encyclopedias- Ben has a well of quite random knowledge, loosely based on the food facts he'd been trying to learn. Also, he's become a fast reader out of practice.
Likes || Bugs, snakes, fresh air, cooking, spending time with his parents, the works.
Dislikes || Being rushed or pressured, stress, home and traveling, granted he can take a piece of home with him when he goes.

Username Kidalanna
Name Annabelle-Rose Ronnette [Prefers to be called Rose by people she knows well.]
Age Seventeen
Appearance Annabelle-Rose is of an elegant look. The soft curve of her face, big eyes, and long lashes add to the girl's doll-like appearance. Pink hair flows neatly behind her shoulders, all the way down to her waist, where it's trimmed straight across. The girl's straight-cut bangs reach about half an inch above her thin, well maintained eyebrows that are of her original hair color, light brown with a hint of gold. Her large eyes hold the color of brown, with a tinge of olive green. Whatever the girl wears will no doubt be poofy, frilly, and eye catching. Beneath all the poofs, lace, and ruffles, though, she has a rather delicate looking body and appears to some to be more of age ten, just play-acting as an older girl. She stands at a small height of 5'3", always with two inch heels that boost her up to an average 5'5". Her small body only contains 100 pounds of weight, meaning she's rather light, even for someone her size. The dresses she wears make up for that though, and with their weight she weighs around 105 pounds. Her skin, not yet touched by the sun for much time, remains a very light color, as she most often has a lacy parasol to block out the "harmful" rays from the sun.
Personality This girl never ceases to brag about her family's accomplishments, when she gets the opportunity. Although she was taught to be quiet, if she gets angry about something, she can nit-pick a person for hours. Most of the time, though, she acts polite to people who are 'of equal status'. AKA: anyone who's rich enough for her family to care about. Other people though, she prefers to treat like servants or lower life forms. To Rose, normal people are nothing but pests in her hair. From time to time, she can be compassionate and kind, but that's only if somehow she gets attached to someone, not necessarily in a romantic sense. This girl hardly ever gets attached, but, when she does, she'll hog a person like their her personal possession, not letting anyone but herself befriend them. All in all, in a nutshell, she's selfish, whiny, quiet, and a tad stuck-up.
History Annabelle-Rose was born into a super rich family. From the day she was born, her parents doted on her and loved her, spoiling the girl rotten to the core. She died her hair permanently. at thirteen. Her parents wanted her to be something new and unique among the many people she would meet. Anyways, her mother figured since they were rich, her little darling girl should be able to have any color of hair she wanted, no matter how strange. So, the girl chose pink, and it was done. For when she got older, the girl would just be married off strategically, nothing independent there. The girl didn't mind this fact, and accepted it without question. Tutors gave her lessons mainly in good wife skills and English, so she could speak properly and write stories and poetry. Working hard in her lessons, she mastered everything she was taught with ease. No one ever did teach her math, history, or science in depth. However, her main job was to be to sit at home and raise children. As the girl grew up, everything went normal.
At age fifteen, Anabelle-Rose's parents began the search for a good husband. After considering many other 'worthy men', the two decided on the mayor of the city they lived in. Although he was thirty, and had already gone through ten wives, all of them dieing under 'mysterious circumstances', the girl's parents set her up with the man, to be married when she was seventeen and he was thirty-two.
Despite the marriage being forced on her and Rose not liking the idea of marrying a man so much older than her, she respected her parents' decision and went with it; and so she was married at age seventeen. For a honeymoon, the couple was sent on a cruise. Rose turned out to like her husband, even though his short temper scared her a little. He hit her a few times in their short-lived relationship, and she was constantly afraid of when he would do it again. However, he proved to be gentle and kind most of the time, and they headed off into the ocean on a boat, with many other people on the cruise, enjoying themselves.
That's when tragedy struck hard. The boat was sinking, and Rose didn't know what to do. None of her lessons had prepared her for this. Following the crowd, she got onto one of the lifeboats and was lowered into the water. However, in the confusion, her husband had lost sight of her. Only a few short minutes after her boat had left, he spied her on the lifeboat, jumped off the cruise, and tried to swim after it. The chilly ocean water, currents, choppy waves, and the mass of people proved to be too much for the man, though, and he quickly went under, and Rose watched her husband drown, helpless, she couldn't do anything. Waiting on a life boat wasn't her idea of a nice thing, but it was better to be alive than dead she supposed. Perhaps everything would work out all right in the end, the girl figured.
Skills Rose doesn't have many useful skills. She knows snippets of foreign languages, a detail or two about the workings of the government, how to cut hair, feed food to a person who can't chew, and a few other things, especially skills to being a good wife, such as sewing, mending clothes, washing dishes, tea ceremony, making her face look emotionless, and many, many other 'wife' skills. However, she has none that would be too helpful in her current situation, other than she might be able to stitch a wound closed, mend clothes, make blankets, wash people, bandage people, or make cures, since one of the 'wife' lessons included botany. She got taught how to cure headaches, lower fevers, treat sore stomachs, and a few basic things, mainly how to relieve people of various symptoms, but not cure the actual illness.

Username: Saros
Name: Scott
Age: 27

Appearance: Scott stands 6'2'' tall. Has a slender, but muscular build. He has scars all over, a sign of a rough life. His hair is brown and short, eyes are a darkish blue. Looks pretty average. Scott had taken the time to have his hair cut on the ship, but he didn't style it. Its short enough so that he has no bangs, his ears are not covered, and its not on the back of his neck. Its close to, but not quite, a military haircut.

Personality: Scott is not the easiest person to get along with... He can be rude, and downright threatening at times. However tough he may act, Scott is not interested in hurting people unless he has to and can actually be nice if given a chance.

History: Scott grew up on the streets. He was in a gang for a while, but that life wasn't for him and he split. He takes care of no. 1 the only way he knows how, and that usually includes robberey or mugging. He grew up in a large city, lived where he could when he could. He has been in jail for armed robbery and breaking and entering. He learned that sometimes you have to take what you need by force... and thats just how he got a ticket. Some lucky guy had won it in some contest. And Scott had stolen that guys wallet, ticket included. Some free food, a nice place to sleep? Sounded too good to be true... but he went.

Skills: Fighting, stealing, hiding, sneaking around. Things of this nature. He can't cook and he knows nothing of wilderness survival. So he feels forced to follow the group.
Quote:
Username: Korrection
Name: Rodger Collins
Age: 19
Appearance: Rodger wears rounded rectangular glasses but as he was jumping ship the left lens was cracked in a funky ‘Y’ shape. He has thick, long, curly black hair, and amber eyes. He’s 6’5 and has broad shoulders. He weights around 162 lbs, He has a medium tan, and in very lanky in build.
Personality: Remember that geek who sat in the front of the class but was too shy to speak? He was that guy in high school before his family sent him to paradise a.k.a Computer Technology Junior College. Now he’s still shy but not afraid to talk… well sorta. He’s kind, quiet, and when he’s annoyed he has a sarcastic tongue.
History: He used to be pushed down all the time when he was little but that stopped when at age 14 he shot up to 5'10. He was still shy through high-school but after he graduated he went to CTJC. He lost his shell there and opened up enough to sign up for a Natural Adventure Trip with his classmates. Big mistake, it turned out the ship sunk, and now here he is stuck on an island.
Skills: A good sense of direction, steady hands, a strong knowledge of plants and animals, and a geeky love for old age weapons. If this counts as a skill he also has an extensive memory of many classic stories and books. Quite intelligent.

((PMs are better for little questions like that, but yes, we'll just let people jump in as they join up. People will just act as if the newbies have been around all along, since technically they would have.))

It was cold, it was wet, and Ben wasn't liking it a bit. The rolling of the waves on the choppy ocean had more or less desensitized the boy to any sort of motion sickness, but that didn't stop him from being sick of motion. When the boat finally ran aground it was nothing short of a miracle is his pale green eyes, eyes now reddened from exposure. He'd already realized that his parents weren't aboard the raft with him early on, so he'd been able to get over that panic, but it'd left him with a churning vortex for a stomach and a sharp panging in his chest- a sign that, unless he lowered the stress level fast, he was due for a heart attack. With things as they were, he didn't want to have to put up with the jostling of everyone rushing for land and instead decided to be one of the first off the boat, as he was on the side closest to the shore.

Carefully, he stepped over the edge of the raft, his wet sneakers immediately becoming covered in sand, sand that stuck to the wetness and didn't dissipate when he shook his feet. Instead of fretting, though, the boy moved out of the way and took a long look around them, trying to seek out any sign of life or of any other survivors. Nothing. All he saw was sea and sand for miles, with what looked to be a mountain and a forest somewhere near the center of the island. Retracting his hands into the sleeves of his damp sweater, Ben proceeded to fold his arms tightly and watch as everyone unloaded from the now useless raft as shivers coursed through his thin body.

Annabelle-Rose Ronnette... a lot more noble of a name than what the girl who was granted it felt. Wrinkling her nose, she stood up halfway in the life boat, still bent over the slightest. Lifting her skirts daintily, "Rose" stepped out of the boat, her fine shoes sinking only half an inch into the sand. Her white shoes with rather thick, yet high heels. They added three inches to her height as she walked onto the beach. Once safely on the sand, she dusted her dress off, sighing as she saw how wet the hems had gotten, the sand clinging to her shoes, and the spots where her dress was soaked in seawater.
The girl grumbled miserably when she saw that her dress was probably going to be ruined. Thankfully it wasn't her favorite, and she had more at home. "My mama and papa are going to hear this, right when I get home! That irresponsible ship captain is going to get himself sued, he is!" the girl exclaimed haughtily, complaining loudly. A few more complaints were added on about the misery of the lifeboat, how disgusting this island looked, and that this wasn't how her honeymoon was supposed to go--at all.
Looking at the forest and mountains, she shouted in frustration, stomping her feet. "I could be on a boat with my husband if only that stupid boat and that stupid captain hadn't messed everything up and sent us here, to this terrible, terrible island!" Rose whined, pulling at the ends of her hair in frustration.

Scott casually got up and walked out of the boat. He had almost died on that ship... what else was new? Its not like anyone would miss him if he did. He had long given up on fretting about his death, what good would it do? Well, here he was. Dang, this place looks lame. What a way to go, stranded on an island. Some vacation...
Scott reached for his knife while he was getting out of the boat, and realized it wasn't there... He ALWAYS carried his knife, when had he lost it!? Crap! Without his knife he felt weak and powerless. That knife had been his tool, and weapon of choice on the streets... and now it was gone. How was he supposed to defend himself now? This is just great. Stuck on an island. Scott sighed inwardly, and tried not to show his despair. He would have to play it cool, and just follow along until he got back to the streets.
Putting on his tough guy face, Scott pretended none of this bothered him and just sat in the rain, waiting for the others to do something. If people started starving, then what? No. Best not to think of worst case. Look at these people. SOMEBODY had to know how to get food right...? Unsure of what to do, Scott just sat there and waited. If he was going to die here, oh well. Its not like the streets had anything better to offer... but at least he knew how to live there...

Everything was cold, cold and wet. Sherbet felt uncomfortable, tucked in a corner of the inflatable raft and sitting in a puddle of sea water. It'd been a day, a whole day of this mess and the day before that she'd been on a marvelous cruise ship, complete with a full set of parents and a birthday in a couple of days. Tomorrow was her birthday and it looked like the world had only guaranteed her a memorial service for her birthday. But she wouldn't cry about that, there were bigger problems then the chance her parents were dead. Sherbet had folded her knees up to allow others more room and was still sitting there with her head on her knees and just waiting for the boat to stop moving. But she felt like crying, maybe she'd already cried, was that why she didn't want to? The stick on earrings were still on, she couldn't have cried. The blue eyed girl was quite lost in her thoughts and very use to the silence and rocking of the boat that it took a while for her to take note of their arrival at a destination, no one could say they meant to land on this island. As Sherbet stood up she took in the scenery around her, untouched and new. Were they the first people to see this land?

With ease she shoved her feelings to the side and put on a big smile and jumped out of the boat. It was a lot of fun to play at the beach, that had been one of the good things about moving to America. Instead of running strait to shore Sherbet ran around in the shallow waters, jumping over the waves and running in the shallows. She stopped running around for a minute and smiled at the group; "I bet there are miles of beaches here!"

Virginia had stepped out of the boat, nearly falling onto the beach in the process, and was now sitting against the damaged raft on the sand. She pushed a strand of orange hair out of her face and behind her ear. Her hair smelled like salt water. Her entire body smelled like salt water. She licked her lips and cringed. She even tasted like salt water. This is disgusting... Virginia thought.
She looked down at her clothes. She was wearing socks and sandals, why she wore both to the pool in the first place escaped her, but they were now soaked and covered in wet sand, making her toes very uncomfortable. Her shorts were going to be covered in sand now that she was sitting, as would her legs. The bottom half of her bathing suit was soaked, making Virginia shiver. Her tank top was mostly dry, except for the dots of rain that got on it. She was in pretty good condition, all things considered.
Still in shock after being the life raft, Virginia tried not to think about the cruise. She tried to not think about that she was trapped on an island with a group of strangers. She tried not to think that they would never be found. She tried not to think about never seeing her parents again.
Virginia's eyes started to tear as she realized what happened and what it would mean for her when suddenly a girl with rainbow hair started to dance around the beach. She said something about miles of beaches. Virginia rubbed her eyes, she didn't want anyone to know she was about to cry, and stared at the girl.

Glancing around, Ben realized that the majority of the crowd had already swarmed off of the life boat and were now milling about. Cringing, he did his best to avoid the little hissy fit being thrown on one "corner" of the beach; as he saw it, the best thing to do in reference to Rose was let her cool off on her own instead getting chewed out for bothering her. Likewise, he decided to avoid the somewhat angry looking Scott and the jumpy Sherbet. Not only could he not get his mind around how she was so happy in such a depressing situation, but she was splashing water everywhere with her antics and he really didn't want to get wet. Instead of dealing with any one of those people, he crept back over to the life raft and settled himself in the sand right next to Virginia, wrapping his arms around his knees and turning to face, ignoring the rain that specked his face like an unwanted dew.

"Are you alright?" he questioned her, his olive eyes peering at her softly with a spec of concern. The slight pain in his chest was starting to fade away, most likely due to his shift of concerns from his own problems to those of another, another who was undoubtedly in a crappy and not angry mood, judging by her seclusion.

Scott looked at the group. For the first time, he really looked at them, and was taken aback. He was with a bunch of kids! Crap. Playing babysitter in the middle of nowhere did not appeal to him. He should just go off on his own... but... how would he survive? One person was playing on the beach... did they even realize what was going on? A boy moved over to talk to some girl. Now is not the time to pick up girls, but no... theres no way ANYBODY would try that at a time like this. Dangit! One of these kids had better be a boy/girl scout or something... Scott gave up his tough guy act, and stood up. He began looking for some shelter... if the rain got too bad he didn't want to be out in it. Not seeing much, he began walking towards a wooded area... It might take a bit to get there, but it sure beats standing on the beach. Scott figured those kids might follow him, if they did who cares? If not, again, who cares? But... just in case one of them did have a clue of how to survive out here he would keep within earshot, and keep them in sight. He didn't wish them any harm, but how could he help? Its not like he knew anything about survival...

Virginia turned her head away from the boy and rubbed her eyes. "Yeah, I'm fine." She sniffed and turned back to him. She smiled weakly, trying to convince them both that she was feeling fine. There was an akward silence as Virginia watched a man stand up and walk towards the forest. Looking around at the other survivors, she realized that most of them were teenagers, if not children.
Her eyes on her feet, Virginia turned to the boy and asked, "Are you okay?" She looked at him, waiting for his reply. The boy looked to be about nine or ten years old, judging by his size. He seemed rather calm, much calmer than Virginia.

Taking a deep breath, Rose finally quieted down. Smoothing out her clothes, she folded her hands demurely at her waist, trying to look lady-like, rather than like a small child throwing a temper tantrum. It seemed that a good number of people were off the boat at this point. Just about all the people that she had been stuck with on the cramped lifeboat she could now see fully. None of them looked 'of equal status'. She saw a girl and boy sitting by the raft, conversing, a girl jumping about in the waves, shouting and grinning, and some mysterious looking man walking off towards the woods. The boy and girl by the raft seemed alright, albeit a little shaken; the girl in the water looked alright physically, but... what about mentally?; the rather tall man was seemingly abandoning them. Frowning in the slightest, the pink haired girl bit her lower lip before shouting at the colorful girl.
"Would you please calm yourself and come over back onto the sand as splashing about may yet give you a cold," she commanded, then turned to the man who was walking away, shouting, "And where do you think you're going, sir? Would you abandon a group of children for your own self-protection?"
After saying this to the two, she sighed slightly, grudging that she had to raise her voice even slightly to deal with such 'lowlife'. The girl was about to try and open her parasol and place it over her shoulder when she remembered with an aggravated grumble that her parasol had been lost in the ocean when she had leaned out of the life raft, reaching for her husband, as she watched him sink below the waves.

Scott hadn't even gotten anywhere when somebody yelled at him... abandon them for his self protection? Ha! He found this almost funny. But there was an air of superiority about her voice he just couldn't shake. Some spoiled rich brat no doubt. Scott had never dealt with anyone like this before... He just wanted to get out of the rain. It looks like playing babysitter was being thrust at him. He stopped an turned to face the group and raised his voice in reply (Scotts voice carries very well, so he doesn't need to shout) "I'm not abandoning anybody, I just want to get out of the rain, is that too much to ask princess?" Scott hadn't even thought about calling the girl princess... He was going to add to this until he saw just how well he hit the nail on the head. He was almost taken aback. If they were found, would there be a reward for this one? It looked possible... but probably unlikely. He banished the thought of ransoming her. Honestly, he wouldn't have to, they might pay him for saving her anyway. And if he did how the heck was he supposed to contact people or anything of the sort? After a pause he added "You all might want to do the same." He decided to leave it at that. Princess girl would probably give him trouble... The more average ones would probably listen to him though. He may not be their first choice for supervision, but he was the only one here who would be able to fight off any wild animals. Scott laughed a little (a quick smile being the only clue anyone would have of this, since he didn't laugh out loud) who did he think he was? Tarzan?

((A great adventure, led by Tarzan, is on the horizon for our heros!))

What harm was coming from her enjoying the waves? Why wait for the rainbow after the rain, though she did like rainbows a lot. It slowly dawned on her, as she watched that one guy wander away and made eye contact with the girl yelling at her, that she might just ruin her shoes. And they were technically her only pair. "Okay," she said cheerfully and ran out of the water and onto the beach. The bright haired girl ran in circles in the sand before coming to a stop in front of the pink haired girl, she had a pretty bonnet on her head and she kind of looked like a doll. The blue eyed girl beamed a smile, feeling the slightest bit plain in what she wore. But hey, her scarf was pretty unique and her jeans, those were nice dark black jeans, they almost looked like designer jeans! Though she really wasn't worried about catching a cold she was pretty curious about this other person, she could probably make a new friend, but she'd have to wait for her new friend to finish her current sentence. She folded her hands behind her back and rocked a little bit before looking down at the other girl, such a tiny person and wearing such cute clothes! A doll, no doubt. "My name's Sherbet," she exclaimed and pointed at herself, "What's yours?" She didn't point at herself when directing her question at the pink haired girl.

((Saros! I didn't notice this, and you may not have either but you forgot to specify your characters hair and eye color. >.< Care to fill us in so that I can add it to your profile real quick?))

When the older girl smile at him, Ben returned the gesture though his gaze was slowly wandering towards the rest of the party. It seemed as if the only other male in their group had taken the initiative and was headed in the direction of the woods, far on the horizon. The idea of walking for such a long time in the cold rain wasn't quite appealing to him, and he showed his opinion visibly by allowing his shoulders to slump a little. Shaking off such feelings, he stood quickly and turned to face Virginia, smile renewed and hand extended to help her to her feet.

"We should probably follow along with the rest of the group," he suggested in a soft voice, "My name is Benedict by the way, but you can call me what ever you'd like."

Though it was a little odd to introduce ones self without providing a preferred nickname, it was Ben's custom. As he saw it, a nickname was something close and personal, like a pet name, and shouldn't be something you expect to be called. Instead, he was just as comfortable going by the name Benedict as much as he was with Ben or Bennie; In short, he simply wasn't a picky person when it came to names. Patiently, he waited with his hand extended for Virginia to get up from the sand and introduce herself, shivering in the rain all the while with his smile still fixed in place.

Keeping her back straight and her head high despite the fact that she looked a bit disheveled, Annabelle-Rose stared back at the man calmly. Raising her voice again, she half-shouted, "Perhaps you should have suggested that to everyone and stated your intentions before just walking off."
The fact that he called her princess of all things made her the slightest bit annoyed. The girl knew perfectly well that it was probably used as a sarcastic insult, but she chose not to acknowledge it. After all, what use was it trying to argue with a low-life? Turning her head to face the girl from earlier, she was happy that at least someone had listened to her sensibly. Looking up at the other girl, Rose was a bit aggravated. She knew she should have worn higher heels.
The girl in front of the pink haired girl was quite unique. With a scarf, blue jeans, dark eyes, and bright multi-colored hair, it definitely wasn't a sight you saw everyday. Thankful that the girl had expressed proper manners in introducing herself before asking for one, Rose dipped a small curtsy as she responded, "It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Sherbert, my name is Annabelle-Rose Ronnette."
Her parents had taught her to introduce herself with her full name, even when talking to 'low-lifes'. After all, if she was to make her superiority obvious, she would have to take all her courses into account and use her best manners, so she appeared less barbaric than the rest.

Taking his hand, Virginia stood up. She tried to wipe the sand off of her, but it was wet and stuck to her hands too. She frowned and rubbed her hands together, getting most of the sand off. Virginia took a deep breath, looked at Benedict next to her and smiled. "Benedict. That's a nice name. My name's Virginia. You can call me that or Daniela, my middle name." He did have a nice name. It wasn't like Joe or Billy or any other boring name. It made him sound... smart.
Virginia turned to look at a girl on the beach who was yelling at the man from before. The girl then turned to the one who had been running before, apparently called Sherbert, and introduced herself as Annabelle-Rose. This must've been the passengers-with-unqiue-names boat.
Nervously looking back at Benedict, Virginia took a step forward to make herself known to the group. "Iiii-I'm Virginia. Evans. I'm Virgina Evans." She copied the way that Annabelle-Rose had introduced herself, with both her first and last name.

((Heh heh heh. >:-D Congratulations to Scott. He is the recipient of the island's first curse: crab pit. Pretty much, any time before the next morning, he gets to step in a shallow little pit of a bunch of crabs.

Edit: the forest is only half a days walk away, btw. Starting now and going non stop, they arrive at the woods early morning, pre-sunrise.))

As Virgnia stood and introduced herself, Ben realized that she was probably the only one who had heard the introduction. After all, he wasn't exactly a loud person and they were on the fringe of easy hearing range from every one else, so in all likelyhood he was still just "that short blond kid" to everyone else. On the other hand, Ben wasn't exactly too concerned about them not knowing his name. If they were really interested or gave a care, they'd make something up or ask him straight out. Reintroducing himself wasn't something he was brave enough to do without being prompted first, at least not in front of a large group. Another thing he noted about Virgina's rise to her feet was the fact that she'd attempted to brush the sand off her rear. Deciding that his attempt was sure to be just as futile as her's had been, he let the sand sit where it was along the bottom of his sweater. It wasn't like the sweater was a neat fit, so it drooped down enough below his waist so that it, instead of his pants, got covered in sand. Not that it was any better that way, simply that was how things stood.

Turning to look towards the rest of the group, he spotted the woods beyond once more. It seemed that those were their best bet at any kind of food or shelter any time soon, even if any time soon was sure to be at least a days walk. Fun. Ben was far from being any kind of athlete, and the thought of a day of walking made him somewhat nervous. It wasn't like it was hard labor, simply long and drawn out. He was sure that his heart could handle the walk in normal circumstances, but it was an iffy thing with the drizzly rain and general stressed atmosphere about the whole deal. Stress was at the top of Ben's list of things to never look at again.

"We should probably start looking for shelter and food soon, if we want to survive till help comes," Ben began tentatively, addressing anyone who was close enough to listen, "I read in a book that it typically take at least a week for help to arrive after something like this so we should settle in for the long haul, I think."

With that, he let his words- knowledge gained from a book about cooking in the wild- soak in with those that had heard, keeping his silence and once more folding his arms tightly against the cold.

(Crab pit? Don't you mean, CRAB BATTLE!)

Scott ignored the reply from the princess, there was no way he would win in an arguement with a high class elitist... so why bother trying? He also decided to stay closer to the group. He must not have been paying attention to where he was stepping, because he walked right into a little pit full of crabs. They pinched at him and it did hurt, but nothing worse than he had been through before. It did however, surprise him. He didn't yell or anything, but the look on his face would be priceless to some. Upset with the crabs, (and considering food) he grabbed a largish one and used it to bash at the others hanging on to him, trying to kill some of them. (What a great sight, some guy nearly falls into a pit of crabs, several run and several pinch him and his response is to use one as a weapon against the others, but his weapon likes to pinch him while he uses it...) This is semi time consuming, and looks rather painful. (Feel free to do something about it, its not like this will only last 15 seconds or something... persistant little buggers) After a couple swings Scott discovers this doesn't work very well. And he shifts his focus to jumpng and stomping on crabs. This works considerably better.
Stomping the crabs only fuels his rage, since some of them don't want to let go, much less the one he grabbed.
(If you helped just go ahead and say so, I don't want to slow things down by making everyone wait to resolve this... so using the powers of time control in text format, let me skip ahead to what Scott does after his crab battle)

After it was all over, several crabs lay dead, and Scott is covered in cuts and bruises where the crabs pinched at him. Some held on well enough that in getting them off they took some flesh with them, but nothing major. Scott takes a couple steps away and sits down, generally looking upset.

Scott found this a great way to vent some anger, and though upset after its all over, he also looks a little bit more calmed down.

Rodger didn't pay attention to the others. He really didn't care, he knew going on the trip was a huge mistake and now here he was digging in the sand. He unearthed many shells but he wasn't looking for shells even though they would be useful. He came across two pairs of Bivalves and grinned, they'd be of use later for sure and so he slipped the shells in his pocket and continued searching. An Arcidae shell was found about half a foot lower and was pocketed as well. He dug a little farther but wasn't successful. He stood and looked around. Everyone was introducing themselves and fighting. He didn't feel like joining in so he instead walked across the beach front in search of something that they could use.

" 'Annabelle-Rose Ronnette', " Sherbet repeated the other doll like girl's name in a sing-song voice and with near perfect pronunciation. Oddly enough it was 'Rose' that she didn't get perfect. Another bright smile and she gave the girl a thumbs up, "That's a cool name!"

Sherbet would have thought about helping Scott but would have decided he quite plainly had it under control, more so in the second half then the first half. A frown would have crossed her face when she over-heard the 'it'll take a week for rescue to arrive' but then again... Once again the smile returned and the girl with bright hair threw her arms up in celbration, "A week at the beach!"

Upon hearing a girl seeming to introduce herself to the group, Rose looked over at her slightly, wondering why the girl bothered. It wasn't like anyone here was going to live long enough for names to matter. However, that was a negative thought, and the pink haired girl tried not to dwell on it much.
Eying Scott with curiosity, Rose watched as he stomped crabs. The battle looked painful from where she stood, however, the girl would not help. Why get her hands dirty helping out a low life? Although mostly she could stand this group, they were getting on her nerves slightly. The blonde boy's info reached her ears, and she snapped her head around to face him. "At least a week?!" the girl exclaimed in both surprise and dismay. Couldn't they get rescued sooner, her father being so important and all?
Settling in for the long haul here was, needless to say, not her idea of a nice honeymoon. Listening to the girl in front of her, the compliment made her happy, but she did not smile. "Thank you for the compliment, Miss Sherbert," she politely said, with a very small curtsy. Although what the girl with the colorful hair said was ridiculous at times, Rose decided that having such an energetic member of the group would most likely help.
Out of the corner of her eye, the girl with the pink hair saw some guy just waltzing around the beach, digging for shells. Turning her head to face him, she declared loudly, "And what do you think you're doing, sir? Right now is NOT the time for happy go lucky shell digging. We need to be moving towards the woods and sticking together. So, get you and your shells back over here this instant!"
The girl's scolding sounded slightly childish, seeing as she was much tinier than most of these people. A look of irritation developed on her face, but then was quickly masked so that her once calm look returned. No matter what, she mustn't appear barbaric, it would ruin her reputation.

Virgina turned back to Benedict with a look of terror. A week? How were they going to survive for an entire seven days? Can't we- Can't we die in a week? Or... Or maybe help will come sooner. I mean, how can you not notice a missing cruise ship? Trying not to start sobbing, Virginia took in a deep breath.
After hearing Annabelle-Rose scold a man digging for shells, Virginia looked down at her feet. Sand was sure to get into her socks somehow while they were going to be walking, and it was always easier to walk barefoot on the beach anyways. She slipped off her sandals, and then balancing on one foot at a time, pulled off her socks. Her feet got covered in wet sand when she put them back down. She frowned, but shoved her socks into her pocket and held her sandals in her hand. She took a few steps towards the forest and then stopped, waiting for everyone else to start walking too.
