-Please don't post here unless you are chicChick! <3 or me [Bahahaha!] They had told her that a new room mate was going to arrive today at the college's dorm, she didn't really care. No, didn't really care wasn't the right words here. Of course she cared! Afterall, what if her room mate found out her secret? The one that no one is supposed to know? She shook her head, and pulled her blue eyes back to the computer screen. I'll be fine. I've managed to dodge the other room mates. No one at school has found out, so does it matter? she thought. She shrugged her shoulders, her black hair was tied in a neat ponytail. She wasn't that pretty, but she wasn't ugly either. She was just plain average. Her grades were average too. So, really, she looked and acted like your average college student. But her secret makes her different from anyone else in the college. She sighed, and stretched, her chair making a squeaking sound as she stretched her muscles. Covering a yawn with her hand, she settled back into the chair, waiting for this new room mate of hers. After all, what can Claire, a young woman of 18, do but wait for this new room mate of hers? |

She was moving to a new college and a new dorm. Sigh. Now I have to make new friends all over again. Hope that I don't do anything drastic to be kicked out again. sigh... She couldn't say that she was really excited. However the feeling of nerviousness was definitely there. There was a part of her that wanted a new start and beginning. Where no one knew who she was and she could recreate herself in whatever image she wanted. She had a secret that caused her to react in the way that she did. She stood at the door poised to go in. Her hands shook quite a bit. Finally she mastered her emotions and with a cheery smile opened the door and walked in. With her shoulder length hair, glasses that she didn't need, t-shirt and jeans, she was sure that she didn't present an image that stood out. But she was happy with that. She wanted to be in the background where no one noticed her. After all, that was what she was comfortable with. 'Hi. My name is Alexandria. But you can call me either Alex or Lexy. I'd prefer either.' was said with a cheery yet shy smile. 'What's your name?' (depending on what you pick, I might just use it at random times if I'm too lazy. rofl) |

She heard the footsteps coming closer to the door, she quickly closed her internet window, and switched to her assignment. She was going to ignore this person as much as she could. She never got along with anyone well. The door opened with a click, and a girl with shoulder length hair, and glasses. She raised her eyebrow at the sight of this girl. And smirked a little, another boring student, added to the college's population. she thought. She shrugged at the new girl, and turned her attention back to the screen. She pretended that she was doing her work, while in reality she was staring at the girl at the corner of her eye, making judgements about this girl. "I'm Claire," she said with a cold shrug of her shoulders, "Nice to meet you, Alex." From the tone of her voice, it was obvious that she wasn't pleased to meet this new girl. She didn't really cared. She just wanted her life to go on the way she liked it, and the fact that no one can find out about her. |
At Claire's cold response, Alexandria was frozen for a tiny second as her emotions fluttered across her face. In the spiltest second, her emotions could be seen clear as day. In that moment, she was so vulnerable. But she was thankful for her glasses as they managed to shield her emotions from the world. Just one look at her eyes, even when she mastered her emotions on her face and you can tell straight away what she was feeling. Her eyes were definitely the window to her soul. After the moment passed, she mastered her emotions and with a bright cheery voice that spoke volumes 'Hey Claire, nice to meet you too. Hope we can be good friends' and ended with a giggle.
'I'm not sure I want to be friends. But since I've chosen my image, I have to stick with it now.' Determination burning in her eyes. She would become friends with Claire. Even if it killed her on the inside in the process, she WOULD. |
She had saw the moment when her eyes flickered, the new girl had looked so vulnerable in that instant. She almost felt guilty about it, but then she shook her head, she was strong, and she felt that she was far more superior then this girl. She didn't mind what her new room mate will think of her, she just wanted her life to be the same as always. The same boring yet somewhat exciting routine.
"Tch." She muttered under her breath, "Things will be more complicated now." She leant back on her chair, and let her eyes roam the compact yet cosy looking dorm room. She closed her eyes, and hummed a tune. One tune that she could never get out of her head. To her it had some importance, while to others, it seemed like utter childishness to be humming a nursery rhyme. She didn't care. She did what she liked. She opened her eyes, as she heard the newbie putting stuff away. Pulling the cupboard open, and pulling out the drawers in the wardrobe. She scowled. "Don't touch anything already there ok? They're mine!" she snapped. She had managed to hide the stuff that was related to her job very well, but in her mind she was scared that the newbie will discover her secret. |
'What's she humming? Is that... a NURSERY RHYME?!? Huh... maybe there is a side of her I don't know. I mean... there must be a meaning to it?' Alexandria thought as she went to pack away her stuff since Claire had so blatently ignored her offer of friendship. She went to the cupboard and drawers to see which ones were free when all of a sudden, she heard Claire snap at her not to touch anything thats already there.
'Why would I want to do anything like that? Like I care what you do.' Alexandria automatically said as was her personality. The moment she said it out, she flinched as she realised that it didn't fit with her new image that she had. Since she wanted to stay in the background as a ordinary nobody. Instead, it probably made her look like a psycopath or a person with a split personality which she didn't want. She definitely didn't want her room mate to be suspecting anything. 'Oh my God. I totally screwed up. What do I say? How to fix this?' was thought as she frantically tried to think of how to fix the situation. 'Because I mean your life is your life. I wouldn't want to bother you too much.' she said smoothly, somehow without a break and without a change in her tone. 'She turned around with a smile to look at Claire 'If you don't want me to look at your stuff then I won't' knowing that she had smoothly fixed her problem and that Claire wouldn't have seen the mistake that she did. |
She was a little stunned when Alex started to snap at her, but she just grinned. It wasn't a friendly grin, more like an amused grin.
"So the cheerful one has a backbone to her afterall." she said with a smirk. She shrugged her shoulders at her room mate. Her cell phone rang, she quickly checked the caller ID on the screen. Seeing it was her boss, she didn't say anything to her room mate. She decided to pick up the call here. It seemed to her that her new room mate was a little, well too innocent and silly to understand. "Hello, Claire speaking," she answered the call. "What's up?" "I need to you to come to check your email," a crisp female voice replied. She wrinkled her nose, and sighed rolling her eyes. "Yes ma'am!" she said with a sarcastic tone. "I'll check it out later." She said in a more serious tone. By check it out later, she had really meant, there was someone else in the room. Her boss immediately understood, and simply replied back. "Good. Then I see you at the allocated time on the email?" it wasn't a question, more of a command. "Yes, I will meet you then." she said in a bored tone. She hang up her phone. And prayed to the heavens that this girl will get out of the room soon. |
She was packing away her stuff when all of a sudden, a phone rang. Alexandria didn't know if she should still stay in the room or not when Claire just picked up the phone and talked to the person like she wasn't there. So Alexandria figured it was ok for her to stay in the room to continue packing her things into the cupboard and drawers. When she had almost finished, her own phone rang, and she smiled as she knew that it was her mother. As only her mother had her number.
She excused herself from the room and went for a walk outside to talk to her mother. 'Hi mum, what did you call for?' 'How are you settling in? You ok? Haven't been picked on or anything?' came the concerned voice of her mother. 'I'm fine mother, you don't need to worry about me. I can take care of myself' smiled Alexandria fondly. She really loved her mother and would do anything for her 'You really going through with this, remaking yourself and everything?' asked her mother 'Yes mum. I'll come visit whenever I can. You know that I have too. Its the only way that I'll be able to live like a normal person and not have attention on me. You know how stress can get to me sometimes. The results could be disasterious.' was said as Alexandria's eyes went a bit blurred while thinking of the past and bad events. 'Anyways this is a new start of me and I couldn't be happier. I'll come visit whenever I can... or better yet, I might be able to bring you over if we both work hard and save money.' said Alexandria dreamily. 'Oh sweetie Lexy, you know that I can't move from where I am now. This is my permanent home now. You and I both know that I won't get better.' was heard softly through the earpiece. 'Now that I know you are ok, I'll go now because I'm not feeling well. I'll call you when I feel better ok?' before her mother hung up 'But mum...' Alexandria could be heard whispering before a tear dripped down her face. She stood there for a few seconds recomposing herself, before she looked up into the sky with a large smile on her face, a geniune one and she screamed into the air, as she could tell that no one was around 'I'll be the best person I can be. I'll make you proud mother.' was said with a determination that only her mother could create. Her mother's call was the boosting that she needed. And now, she felt like she could do anything. 'Oh my. I should go back to my dorm. I just remembered that I forgot to take my photos out.' she muttered before running back to the dorm. It took her a good 5 minutes to run back to the dorm, not knowing that she had managed to walk this far away from the dorm in her need for privacy. 'Sorry for going out like that. It was a call from my mother' she said cheerfully with a bright smile on her face, not needing to fake it now. She went to the bag and took our her most precious belongings, the photos that she had of her family before putting them around her table where she would be able to see them everyday. |
