"Athela, I thought this scrap of fur was your responsibility." Kaya told her. "I had to come from the cosiest spot in the sun just to feed the thing." She turned to the cub. "Well Everett, I'm not the boss here but I'm sure he'll agree, since we are letting you stay, I think it's perfectly reasonable to give him some chores to work on."
Athela's eyes widened at Kaya's statement.
"Oh, you're absolutely right," she sighed sadly while looking at the ground in shame, "Guess I'm not too good at this kind of thing since I was just recently a cub myself." Athela thought it over for a second before she looked up and faced Kaya with a serious face. "But, no excuses! Sorry Kaya, I'll try harder from now on." |
Kaya nodded. "It's hard, raising a cub." she said, looking at the leader. "So, do you think we will be able to hold onto him for awhile?"
Balin walked over to them "yes I think we can but we will have to keep a eye on him." he said as he looked at the cub.
Kaya shrugged and got up. She jumped into a tree and lay down again.
"No worries Everett," Athela smiled at the small cub, "I'll watch over you. How do you feel?"
Kaya smiled. Athela would help the little cub. She wondered when they were leaving.
Balin was planing on leaveing in a hour so that Athela would have time to work with the cub. He didn't want to stay any later because he wanted to get to where the food was sooner rather then later.
((.... Chema? you still there?))
(( Yeah, but I'm waiting for Everett to answer my question lol ))
Balin wondered over to Kaya "so how is the cub today?" he asked as he looked at her.
((I will see if I can get Nekochan to post)) |
((thank you muchly))
"I dunno. Athela seems to have made friends with the little scrap. An Idea came to me." Kaya said excitedly. "If we return this cub, maybe we can have peace with his Pack for awhile!" |
Balin nodded "yeah but that is if they want him back." he said as he looked at Kaya. He wasn't sure if they had left him for a reason and if they did or didn't want him back.
"He looked demented when he came in, I'm sure they are looking for him. What mother would abandon their cub?" she washed her ears. "It doesn't make sense."
"sometimes things don't make sence to others, only to the ones who know the whole stroy know whats make sence." Balin said as he looked at Kaya.
Kaya shrugged. "We leaving or not?"
Everett watched quietly and was prepared to leave whenever they liked.
((Hi everyone! Im not really going to be posting here much anymore, not that i was much in the first place. You guys are free to use my character should you need to. I dont want to hinder you in keeping the story going. Sorry.)) |
Balin smiled and then roared out "we move out now"
Athela checked to make sure she was all prepared before following behind Balin. Every minute or so, she'd look down to make sure that the cub was keeping pace. She might have to let him ride on her back for awhile if he got tired.
((So who will control Everett now?? O_O )) |
((I will since Neko gave him up for grabes))
Everett tryed to keep pace with everyone but he kept on falling behind and having ro run to catch up. He hoped that his family would welcome him home when he get home. Balin continued to walk a fast pace since he wanted to get to the food and water fast. |
Kaya walked besides Athela. "Just remember, you can't become attached to Everett." she said. "That could be bad when, not if, we have to give him back."
"I understand," Athela smiled grimly at Kaya. She wasn't mad at her truthful words since she knew that Kaya was just trying to get her ready for the inevitable. She watched the cub for a second and thought about how worried his parents would be right now. Yes, the right thing to do was to find his family and return him.
Everett found himself panting after a while of walking/running at this pace. He stayed close to Athela since she was kinder then everyone else. He was scared that the leader was going to turn around and bit his head off sooner or later and also he had no idea if he was ever going to find his family again. But when he heard them talk about his family he got scared and pressed his side agenst Athelas for comfort. He was scared that they wouldn't take him back.
"You should also remind him not to become to attached to you." she said, looking at how he pressed against Athela. In her own thoughts, she thought of her old cubs.
"Don't worry, Kaya. He is simply frightened and looking for comfort," she offered her back to the cub, "Go on and get on, little one, you look tired of walking."
