Everett climbed onto her back and snuggled into her back. "thank you" he said softly
Athela continued walking, the extra weight of the cub was nothing for her, but she hoped that it wasn't that far of a walk.
Kaya went over to Balin. "Are we going purpousfully toward the other Packs area?" she asked, noticing they were getting close to where all three territories connected.
Balin nodded "yes, there are two reasons why." he said as he looked at her "one is because it will be easyer to find the cubs clan and two, there is more water and game going there." he said and sounded very grown up. It was almost as if the young old slef was now gone under all of this new lion before Kaya.
Kaya nodded. She was glad that Baling was taking the 'Alpha male' job more seriously.
Everett soon found himself falling asleep on the lions back.
Balined continued to walk and soon in the distance you could see water and some animals. |
Kaya looked into the distance. she could see a few lions in the distance. "Maybe one of them is the cub's Pack." she murmured to herself.
"We should be careful though," Athela wisely stated, "We lions are very territorial, so we should approach with caution."
Balin nodded and slowed down his pace. "yes, your right." he said as he continued to walk forwards.
Kaya sniffed. "Both of the others are here." She noticed. "Maybe they are looking for him."
"yeah hopefully" Balin said as he continued to walk and smiled at Kaya
"Well there's no other way to find out unless we take a closer look," Athela observed as she padded on after Kaya and Balin. Hopefully they could get this little cub back to his real family. Even though Athela already felt deeply attached to the cub, she wasn't ready for children yet. She was way too young to have to take care of a cub. She probably wasn't suited for the task anyway.
Kaya padded by Everrett. "Do any of those Packs look like yours?" she asked, wondering if they could get the little scrap home quicker than she thought.
Everett looked at the other packs and shrugged "I think I see them but I am not sure" he said softly and looked at Kaya.
Kaya shrugged. She looked in the distance, she could see the other two, but it didn't look like any mother's were calling out for their cub. Do we really think he was abandoned? She thought to herself, and looked at Balin.
Athela padded along silently as she listened to the others talk. The only thing she was worried about right then was if the pack ahead would even take back their cub. Some lion packs were very finicky about their scent and if another pack's scent was rubbed onto one of their own, they would abandon it with no guilt. It was a very horrible thing to do and she was grateful that Balin didn't enforce that kind of thinking in their pack.
Blain looked at Kaya and knew exactly what she was thinking. He shrugged slightly but knew that if they didn't take him back he would take him into there pack since he was just that nice.
Everett got worryed when they got closer because he didn't see his mother yet. He had seen other lions from his pack but he didn't see her yet. |
Kaya wondered if he could remember his mother's appearance. He had been half-dead when they found him, dehydrated and alone, so maybe he was having a hard time remembering.
"I dont see my mother" he said softly as he looked at Kaya. Worry and fear showed clearly in his eyes and he started to wonder if his pack really did leave him to die.
Kaya looked at Athela. She gave her a look that said, I'm not comforting him, you do it. she didn't want to be reminded of motherly chores.
Athela was confused on how to approach this kind of situation, but she'd have to at least try.
"Don't worry, young one," Athela said in a very kind 'motherly' voice, "If they are not in this pack, they could surely be in another. There are many lion packs around this place." |
Kaya smiled at her effort. In truth, she did have some experience, but she didn't want to bring that out right now.
Everett smiled and nodded "thank you" he said softly to Athela
Balin smiled and soon they where at the other lions. He called out "is anyone looking for a cub." he yelled and hoped that someone would come and clam the cub. |
Some of the mothers looked up, but seeing it wasn't theirs they slowly looked down again. Kaya badded up to Balin. "What if no one claims him?" she asked.
Balin sighed and looked at the cub then back at Kaya "we will keep him" he said softly. He was too kind hearted to leave the cub on its own.
