Limbo/larry the snail
SPOILERName: Anna Mclean Gender: Female Race: Mortal, American Age: 27 Appearance: Classic flapper. Brown hair, green eyes, thin and short frame. Personality/ Background: 22 years ago, for reasons she only knew vaguely about, Anna's parents moved from their cozy apartment in New York to South Africa. At the time she was only 5. Her childhood was simple; while dad was off mining for gold and diamonds, mother kept the house running and gave her a well rounded education. Longing for home, her mother followed all the latest fads and fashions from America. This was during the 1920's-- the roaring 20's, the jazz age-- so Anna grew up with a flapper as a role model and mother. She was part of the "new breed" of women, wearing short skirts, a bobbed hair cut, and spoke of anything casually. Like all flappers she flaunted her disdain for social norms. It was often embarrassing for Anna to associated such a wild woman. The only way to rebel against someone who was already rebelling against society was to revert back into a conservative manner. Try as she might, her mother never coaxed her into a flourished social butterfly- instead she choose to stay shy, quiet, and reserved. In her early teen's, Anna's dad choose to separate with her mother, leaving them in a state of poverty. To combat the situation both chose to find work. By 17 Anna found a job serving a rich man across town. Soon after meeting him, she fell deeply in love with her employer, teetering on the edge of obsession. He left unexpectedly one day, so... she simply waited for him. Ten long years. It had been ten long, long years. Ten years of cleaning, ten years of thinking, ten years of mind numbing waiting. But every day had fresh hope, everyday a new start. Perhaps today was the day-- maybe tomorrow? Or the next? Perhaps the next. Which ever the day Anna had already decided on staying positive until then. The other servants had long since disappeared once the money stopped coming, but Anna had stayed. For him. She smiled just at the thought of him, grinning like a child who had just walked downstairs to a room full of Christmas presents. Any thought of him was like a gift. It disturbed others, which drove her to become even more socially isolated than she previously was. After severing ties with her mother, Anna stayed in the mansion and minded her own business. Sighing, Anna walked past a mirror and stopped to check her hair. It was cut into a cute bob, with a curl carefully placed against her cheek. She looked like any model off any high class magazine and advertisement. Her emerald eyes squinted into the mirror, showing off the beginnings of small wrinkles. Time had crept onto her silently. She obviously wasn't the same 17 year old girl ten years ago, barely grown into her curves. Not that flappers had curves anyways. Once satisfied with her hair, Anna turned to give the house one more round of dusting. Everything had to look perfect! Spotless, perfect. Even cleaner than the day he left. Then maybe he would be happy? |
Name Sogan Greenfield Gender Male Race Vampire Age Unknown Appearance http://i183.photobucket.com/albums/x...GE00050027.jpg Personality Sogan is a rather cold but proud man, and he at times might seem rather ignorant and downright mean. But he just don't like to get too close to people, since he pretty much outlives anyone he gets close to. _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_ It had been ten years since he left this old mansion. But, maybe it was finally about time he got back to it? Even if he didn't expect much. He kind of expected that all the servants had left when there was no money coming to the mansion. So by now it was probably one heck of a mess, with no one taking care of it. And he kind of expected that people might have gone there and taken valuables too. Oh well. He hadn't really left anything he treasured back there anyhow. But it was still always just as exciting to get back to an old mansion just to see what condition it was in. He always did that. But if it was too bad of a condition, he of course never stayed there. But oh well. He was finally at the mansion, and it looked allot like he had expected to. At least on the outside. The garden was a pure mess. It reminded more of a jungle then a garden. Maybe he would take a look around it later and see if some wild beast had moved in around the back yard? But for now, he just wanted to see how much the mansion was falling apart inside. Maybe something had managed to survive trough all of these years? Was always fun with some old memories. Maybe a few old memories of his last wife? But once he stepped up to the door and opened it, to his surprise, the door didn't just fall off. And on top of that, once he got inside, everything was well kept and clean. Had some one moved in while he was gone? But then why did the outside look like that? And no one could really go off and sell his property without his allowance. Not that he was that easy to get a hold of, but still. So he had to admit, that he was a little upset. But he still wanted to see who it was that lived here now. So even if he might be trespassing in some ones eyes, he still owned this mansion. Not his business if some one got ripped off. If they wanted to live here, they would have to talk it over with him. He was a businessman after all. "Hello? Anyone here?" |
A small figurine was being turned around in Anna's delicate hands. She had picked up the dancing girl to polish it, but before she could pick up a rag she heard a voice across the hall. Her heart skipped a beat in both fear and hope. Fear that it was a stranger intruding, and hope that it was finally him. She carefully placed the painted glass back on the shelf and silently turned to poke her head out into the hall way. "Mister Greenfield...?" Her voice was timid, almost too faint to hear. It had been weeks sense she spoke out loud. Anna was a hermit on an island who had suffered from the lack of human contact. Not that she was emotionally stable before, anyways. When Anna saw the glimpse of blue hair her face lit up into a rare smile. "Sogan!" She stepped into the hall and rushed towards him, ringing her hands in excitement. "You came back! I knew you would! I always did, I waited and waite--" She stopped short, though, when she got a closer look at his face. It hadn't aged at all. Unlike hers, which time hadn't been kind to, his looked as fresh as the first day she saw him. "Your skin, it's phenomenal. Where were you, the moon? No one looks that good after ten years, three months, and twelve days." |
He had to admit, that he was surprised to hear some one call his name. Was there still servants here? After all these years? That was rather amazing. This was the first time that had happened. But seeing who it was, that surprise was gone. He should have expected HER of all to be around. Maybe it was a bad idea to come back here? Time might not have been mild to her, but it was still not that hard to recognize her. And she obviously recognized him too. Oh god, what a bother. But as long as it was just one of the old servant, it was rather ok. "You're still here even after ten years? Isn't that a bit of a waste of time?" He really didn't get her at all. Who in their right mind stayed and waited for some one in an empty mansion for ten years? And as she was coming up to him, he was seriously considering to either slap her or just kill her. But on other hand, she had been torturing herself enough by sitting here all alone trough all of these years. She had probably suffered enough by now. Crazy woman. And right now, he kind of brushed the comment about his appearance off. "Your name was, Anna, or something like that, was it not? Why on earth have you been waiting here all this time? You do know that you have just been wasting away ten years of your life, don't you?" |
She saw the muscles in his face contract slightly to form a look of surprise. Something in her stomach dropped. This wasn't how it was suppose to be! He wasn't suppose to say that, or question her name. He was suppose to smile and apologize for being gone so long! And, and thank her for being so loyal!
Her eyes started to water. Maybe it was allergies. She directed her gaze away from he figure before her and looked out a window behind him. "Yes, my name is Anna Mclean. I've been waiting because... Because..." Anna drifted off into deep thought. This was all wrong. She couldn't think of an answer. A question like that shouldn't have an answer, he should just know! He should realize her devotion, not scoff and question it. "I don't know, actually," she finally said in her timid, quiet voice. "I suppose I had nothing else to do? Why move out of a grand mansion when it's a nice place to stay? I always just waited one more day, and the days built up." But now her face was getting red from a mixture of emotion. Overwhelming embarrassment, frustration, devastation, and a sudden absence of hope. Anna wiped her eyes with a handkerchief she pulled from her pocket, and forced a smile. "You must be tired from your travels. Can I get you anything? Or do you wish to be left alone for now? I'm always sick of people when I travel." |
It didn't take a genius to realize that she was upset. Maybe he had been a bit harsh. But he was just surprised to see that some one had actually stayed here and waited for him. Maybe he could be a bit nice for once? Was nice to see that at least one of many mansions wasn't a complete disaster after he had been gone for so long. He gave a sigh and tried to be on his best side for once, walking up to her and placing a hand on her shoulder and actually even giving her a kiss on the cheek. It wasn't as if anyone was watching anyhow. "You did a great job taking care of this place while I was gone. Thank you. And I'm actually more curious what you have done all this time. How about you make some tea and we can sit down and talk for a while?" It almost gave him chills down his own spine to be nice to some one like this. But everyone had a heart down somewhere, even him. And he just couldn't take it to see a woman so darn upset. And he actually was curious about how on earth she had spent her time. Ten years was a long wait for anyone. And to have waited for that long, she sure was one heck of a loyal servant. No doubt there. She deserved some joy. And on top of that, he really could use a break and relax for a while. He was planning on staying here for a while, so he might as well stay at the mansion. |
She stepped back slightly when he moved forward, shocked. Her eyes widened when he touched her-- then kissed her. When he stepped away she felt her cheek with her finger tips. "You're welcome-- thank you, oh, well. I'll go make the tea now." She smiled sincerely and quickly walked to the kitchen. Cabinets could be heard opening and closing while she searched for the tea pot. Anna herself didn't have tea regularly, so the required instruments were buried somewhere. After she finally found it Anna turned on the stove and started to search through the drawers for some tea bags, then the sugar. (I don't drink tea myself, so. xD I don't know if there's anything else.) Anna was happier now, yet still having doubts. What he said was actually making her think. Now that she had to face her actions she didn't even understand them. Stayed in the mansion for ten years? For what? For him? She couldn't exactly say she loved him, no, it wasn't that. Perhaps it was... obsession? The thought of that took her off guard. Besides that she decided to get out some biscuits she had made earlier that week. The seemed appropriate for the occasion, with jam. She made the jam herself, too. Strawberry jam, her favorite. It was one of the things that kept her busy, home making everything she ate. "There's a table in the sitting room already set with china. They're actually my plates, I hope you don't mind. I wanted to put a touch of my home in." She felt unusually chatty suddenly, realizing that after years of solitude it was nice to have someone to talk to. |
As she left for the kitchen, Sogan gave a heavy sigh, mumbling a bit for himself while she was out of sight and out of hearing reach for his mumble. This was not what he had expected when coming back here. "What a crazy woman... Wonder if anyone would miss her if I just killed her...?" Not that he would kill her. He would just be nice and stay for a while. Maybe a few weeks or so, and then simply leave again when he felt like it. Maybe he could start coming back every tenth year? Would be interesting to see how long the woman would stay here and wait and take care of the place. Sooner or later she would have to get tired of it, right? But maybe he could be as nasty to send a letter once in a while. That would certainly keep her hopes up. Then she might end up spending her entire life here. Would be rather mean, but there was still a bit of satisfaction in the thought of it. Would probably make a nice story to. A woman who waster her life away by waiting for a man to come home. And as she came back, he brushed those thoughts away for now. For now he would stay here and get her hopes up before he left again. So he would be as friendly as possible. "I don't mind at all. I haven't been here for a while anyhow, so it is probably to be expected that you would make yourself at home while waiting." He said as he went with her to go have a cup of tea. Not that he could actually drink it. He could drink it and swallow it and all, but it wouldn't be digested, so he would have to get it out later. Maybe he could just distract her attention once in a while and find somewhere to get rid of the tea? Then he wouldn't have to go trough the trouble of having to get it back out later. |
A few years ago Anna did have a gentleman caller who came over every now and again. He ran the general store she'd visit for errands and ingredients. He was an older man by at least 10 years, but nevertheless they still found each other interesting. In her opinion it was more of a matter of desperation than anything. He had already been married once before and had a small boy of his own, while she was... well, her. The odd solitary lady in the mansion. No one but her ever came in or out of that house. It had become such an eyesore that her gentleman friend offered to clean the yard, but she kindly refused. If it looked inhabitable someone might want to buy it and she couldn't necessarily prove that the house was her's.
With a small 'clink' Anna placed two cups down on two small plates. She left momentarily and came back with a third cup full of sugar cubes. Once everything was situated and the tea bags were in the hot water Anna stood by the table and flattened out a few wrinkles in the table cloth with her palm. "I think you should taste it, though, before I sit down. I don't know how long that tea bag has been in the cabinet. Can tea bags go stale?" |
((Sorry for the delay on a reply. But I haven't been in much of an RP mood lately)) Sogan simply went ahead and sat down, making himself at home, since it was his home after all, letting the crazy woman do her job and serve him tea. And getting to know what she had done for ten years to entertain herself and make time fly was bound to be interesting. He doubted that she had just gone around cleaning all this time. And she had to go outside once in a while to get food and such, right? And how on earth had she made money to afford food? He hadn't been sending money to the mansion in years. So he doubted that the money he had sent for about two years after he left lasted for this long. And he took a sip of the tea, doing as she asked and just tasting it. Not that he liked it. But it would look really strange for an 'English Gentleman' to not drink tea. But he kind of did prefer red wine, since he could simply switch it with blood. And that made things more easy to hide even if he was drinking blood out in the open. But oh well. "It's just fine. And for tea that's been around for a while, it does taste really good. Just sit down and relax a bit. I'm curious about how you managed things for this long. You must have some kind of job or anything outside the mansion, don't you? I can't imagine how else you have been able to afford food trough all of this time." |
