Elizabeth Chamberlain stared off into the distance as she swirled the straw around in her cup of chai tea. She rested her chin on her hand and sighed deeply. Today had been a very long, long day. She cast a glance down to the bookbag sitting beside her. Inside of that bag she had probably four hours worth of homework waiting for her. She sighed again. It would be another long, long night. But, you didn't get to be a valedictorian by slacking off.
Bringing her deep emerald eyes back into focus and stared into her cup. Only a little bit left. She brought the cup to her mouth and swallowed the last little bit. Elizabeth stared out the window out into the street. It was a bright sunny day outside, so there were people everywhere. Tall buildings surrounded this small little Taco-Bell resturant, so high up, you couldn't make out the sky unless you looked directly up. Suddenly, Elizabeth felt very alone. Her family had been here for about a year now, but she still had no friends to speak of, and her father prohibited any animals from their house.
Elizabeth shook her head to try and rid herself of thoughts of happy days gone past on their farm. She grabbed her bookbag, and tenderly brought out her AP Chemistry textbook and homework and laid them on the table. She grabbed a pen, and began working on her never-ending stack of homework.
