Matthew jumped back when Allie had, looking up to the strange woman. "Hello." He said quietly, blushing. "I'm sorry, that was inappropiate." He apologized to the woman. He had forgotten that they were in a cafe and was instantly ashamed of himself. He'd planned on having better manners then this.
Allie looked from him to the woman. "Matthew.. I would like to introduce you to my mother.." she said softly. It was bad enough that they were in a cafe, but her mother had caught them instead of all the other people. "mom, this is Matthew..." she said softly. This was not the first impression she had in mind. She couldn't look at either of them in the face. She was just relieved it wasn't her father.
Matthew's eyes widened as Allie introduced him to her mother. Getting out of his seat, Matthew held out his hand. "Its a pleasure to meet you." He said politely. "I'm sorry it was under these circumstances. I only hope you don't think poorly of me." He said, a blush still on his cheeks.
Allie blushed and smiled as he introduced himself. Her mother smiled at him and shook his hand "well it is nice to meet you Matthew.. and it's alright.." she said softly. She looked to Allie and said "we will talk about this later tonight" before she walked off. Allie looked to him sheepishly "wow.. so I guess gaming is out for now.." she said softly.
"I'm sorry I got you in trouble." Matthew said quietly, brushing her cheek with his fingertips. "I wish I could've met your mother differently though." He smiled. "When I wasn't making out with you that is." He added with a small laugh. "Do you need to be home now or do you still want to hang out?" Matthew asked, taking her hand in his.
Allie smiled to him "it's alright... yes but it is more fun this way.. she will never forget you.." she said with a small smile. "no, don't wanna go home now.. lets hang out a bit longer" she said with a big smile. She didn't care about what her mother though. She wasn't her real mother anyway, she was adopted, so.. yea! She looked to him and smiled. "my father would have been cool about it.. I don't think we have to worry.." she said softly.
"Alright." Matthew said, thrilled that he would get more time with her. "Where shall we go?" He asked as he ushered her out of the small cafe and unto the sidewalk outside.
Allie smiled at him "anywhere you want to" she said with another smile. "I just want to be with you for as long as possible before I face them tonight.." she said with a sad expression. If her mother told her father now and they had time to talk ti out between them, it wouldn't be as bad. If she waited till she got home to tell her father, well, she would find out his reaction right there and that would suck. She looked to him and smiled "no matter what happens with my parents.. I still want to be with you.." she said softly.
"I want to be with you as well." Matthew said, cupping her chin and tilting her face upwards to place a small kiss on her nose. "I'll admit it wasn't the best first impression but I've had worse and everything turned out okay." He promised as he put an arm around Allie's waist.
"And on to happier things." Matthew said, steering her to walk down the sidewalk. "There's soccer practice today in about half an hour. I'll have to go then but I want you to see this art gallery that just opened up downtown. Its a big hit so far but its so new that not many people have been there yet. So its pretty much a prime time to visit before the crowds start rushing in. Actually I think you might know the artist." He said with a wink as he brought her through the crowded streets. |
Allie blushed brightly as he kissed her nose. She smiled as he put his arm around her waist. She followed him down the side walk. "an art gallery? I have never been to one before.." she said softly. When he said she would know the artist, she looked at him confused. "who is it?" she asked softly as she raised an eyebrow. She kept walking with him through the street, she began to think about how lucky she was to have someone as amazing as him. If her parents didn't accept it.. well she could move out in a few months..
"I want it to be a surprise." Matthew grinned as they continued to walk. "But I think its a pretty good display." He said as he led her into the small gallery. The walls were covered with an array of prints. Some of the paintings were simply splatters of different colors while others portrayed a landscape setting.
"What do you think?" Matthew asked quietly as he led her around the room to see the different paintings. |
Allie smiled at him and let out a small giggle. "alright.." she said as they continued to walk. Soon they were in the small gallery. She gasped at the array of different paintings. She giggled at some and stood in awe at others. There was a beautiful sunset painting, she couldn't walk away from. "this is so beautiful..." she said softly. Looking back to him as they kept walking "this place is really awesome.. the paintings are incredible.." she said with a bright smile.
"Coming from an unbiased opinion I'll take that as a good thing." Matthew laughed. He pointed to the card beneath the sunset painting Allie was looking at. The card read his name underneath as the artist. "I was just painting and someone saw and offered me a show." He explained.
Allie looked up at him and smiled before she mentally hit herself in the head. She never read the card. She spun around to him and gasped. Looking around the room, every painting was his. She jumped to him and pulled him into a tight hug. "I am so proud of you.. this place is amazing.." she said as she kissed him softly.
"Thank you." Matthew murmured against her lips. "One of my dad's friends saw it and offered me a show here so I went for it." He laughed. "Its just a past time but I think its cool that I actually got a show at a gallery. But you haven't seen my favourite piece." He said as he led her across the room.
In front of them was a perfect image of Allie staring back at them trough the glass in the frame. "I hope you don't find it creepy that I painted you." Matthew said sheepishly. "But I liked using you as a muse." |
Allie blushed as she realized now was not the time to kiss him. There were others in the room and he was the artist. They might want to buy something and he was busy kissing his girlfriend. She pulled away and smiled. "well this is amazing so far.." she said with a smile. Following him curiously, there was only one painting in this next area. It was her. She just looked up to it in shock, it looked exactly like her. Her face was so red as she looked over to him. "Matthew..." she said softly.
"I'm sorry." Matthew mumbled, his face turning red. "I should've asked you before putting it up but I didn't. I can take it down." He said quickly, embarressed he hadn't asked her about putting her picture out for everyone to see.
Allie looked over to him and then the painting "no, it's alright..." she said softly. She looked around as more people started to fill the room. Blushing brightly. "I love it.." she said quietly as people came up to him shaking his hand and talking to him about the paintings. "I'll be over here.." she said as she pointed to the other room. He was busy right now.. she could wait.
Matthew sighed quietly as Allie left his side before turning to the people around him. Yes, he'd accept that much for the winter landscape. No, that was not for sale.
Having clearing the room from buyers, Matthew followed Allie into the other room which contained unfinished paintings and paint cans lying around the room. |
Allie looked over at him and gave him a weak smile before looking back to the wall. This room itself would make an amazing picture. She wondered if people would be swarming her like that for her photography, she was too amateur, maybe one day. "welcome back" she said with another small smile.
"Sorry about that." Matthew blushed, making his way across the room to her. "They're kind of...eager to buy my work." He laughed nervously. "I just wanted to show it to you, I didn't mean to get interrupted."
Allie looked over at him with a weak smile. "I would be too.. it is really impressive Matthew.." she said softly as she kissed his cheek. She heard heels and gulped. She scooted away from him a little bit before looking to the corner. She saw her mother walking in.
She approached him and said "oh my god Allie, you never told me he was a painter.. I just bought six of his paintings.." Allie smiled and just hoped she didn't go into the back room. She had no idea what her reaction would be if she saw the amazing portrait of her. |
"Thank you." Matthew blushed as her mother approached them. Maybe this would help make up for what had happened earlier. "I'm not a professional. Its just a past time really." He said sheepishly. "But I appreciate you buying them." He added with a smile, hoping to get on her good side.
"Well Matthew I think you have redeemed yourself.. I have been looking for a sunset painting for a while and yours out front is absolutely amazing.." she said with a large grin.
Allie smiled and sighed in relief. Her mom wasn't angry, and she still had the same shoes so she hadn't been home. Everything was going much better now. |
"Thank you." Matthew said again before checking his watch. "I have to be at practice soon. Allie, do want me to take you home?" He asked, looking down at Allie beside him.
