Derain slide slowly around the care his movements careful and slow as he thought deeply.
He opened the butterfly door and shut it slowly, he turned the engine on and turned on the radio "Picture This" by Vybez Kartel. 'Picture this, you an me unda a tree k-i-s-s-i-n-g. Picture this you an me unda a tree f-u-*-k-i-n-g...' he leaned on the door rest and then slowly pulled off...... The car engine purred and he just followed the route he normally took, a faster way home than he intended. As he pulled up to the gate, he opened the gate by remote. Nothing seemed overdone it all seemed natural and beautiful. Trees lining the circular driveway up to the house. The outside painted a light creme color. Three floors boasted through tall windows spanning each floor. He pulled the car into the garage and turned the engine off, getting out to open Crystals door. He pulled out his cell phone and began to text a couple of friends after it vibrated. |
Crystal was silent the entire time, not sure what she could say in response to the music. She felt awkward listening to it at the same time as she enjoyed the melody. She let her hair fall in front of her face so that she wouldn't have to look at him when she was in this state. It didn't provide a long enough curtain though so she had to focus her eyes on the trees passing by.
When they arrive at the garage she was slightly confused. She had managed to zone out so completely that she wasn't entirely aware of what was going on. She unbuckled her seat belt and went to open the door but he was already there, opening the door. She smiled with a light blush before stepping out and lifting her bag out. "Thank you," she said politely. "What do you want to do while we're here? I can't get back home before school is over." |
"Well just about anything you wanna do we could... this is a big house if you hadn't noticed... and it's not like my parents'll bite or anything. They're pretty cool. Just a bit too hopeful for something in the future." He said honestly thinking as he shifted from foot to foot before opening the garage door to the house. Showing off the nice carpet that matched everything. He liked his house. Even though it was huge, there were a lot of places you could just chill in and not feel as though you might break something. Ever since he was little, he'd always wanted friends to come over. And a couple of years back he'd gotten his wish.
He quickly snapped himself back to reality and then glanced back a Crystal. She looked so adorable in that moment. Head slightly ducked, hands together and in a pigeon-toed stance. He wanted nothing more than smooth away her troubles, then lift her from them. Was that so wrong? He couldn't tell.... |
Crystal felt comforted by his words. She'd been yelled at her parents a lot for things that didn't matter all that much. She walked towards him after a while and stepped gingerly into the house. Her parents had gotten carpet of the same brand. Her parents weren't as rich as his but it was pretty close. "We could watch a movie," she suggested. "I don't mind, as long as we do something fun."

"Well you wanna watch a scary movie or something. I have the biggest movie collection in the house. Even I haven't watched them all... it's actually pretty much anime and stuff from the 90's till now."
He felt a little embarrassed. Damn his anime loving self. Here he was trying to act all cool and suave but somehow he'd told her about the anime. He knew he sounded like a geek and mentally slapped himself as he closed the door with a creak. |
"That sounds fine," Crystal said with a smile. "I get scared easily though, but I want to watch a scary movie." She didn't want to include the fact that she sometimes clung on to the nearest person when she watched the scary movies. She didn't respond to the anime mention though because she'd never really heard of it.
Her parents had always censored the things that she listened to or watched. She looked at the movie selection though and was amazed by the large section. |
"Well then feel free to glomp me if you get scared." He gave a wink out of the corner of his eye and flopped down on the couch, picked up the remote and flipped the T.V on. He then took his time watching her roam and explore the movies. Boy she had a cute butt. He blushed and turned away quickly ashamed of his thoughts. Though he liked her he shouldn't think of her like that.
Then his phone rang. He picked it up and then held it away from his ear as Ashley blasted on him again. He didn't want to deal with her right now. She wasn't important. "Look, I'm breaking up with you. All you do is ask for money and try to sleep with me. And not to mention that you seduced my best friend knowing who he was. I'm not gonna call you names. But I don't wanna hear yours or any excuses. So good-bye Ashley and good riddance." he huffed as he hung up the phone and then leaned his head back on the couch. |
Crystal nodded slightly as she returned to picking out a movie. She noticed a few zombie movies but she'd always hated those. The selection was overwhelming though and was getting lost in thought when she heard him in the background. She picked out a movie though, it was called The Blair Witch Project.
"Is everything all right," she asked when she sat down on the couch with a considerable distance between the two. She set the dvd down between them then and looked at him intently. |
Derain looked over at her and gave her a blinding smile.
"Everything is fine... but do I make you uncomfortable?" he asked in an amused tone as he looked over at her. She was all the way on the other side of the couch. |
"No, no," Crystal said frantically, not trying to seem odd in the fact she sat on the opposite side. "I mean we're friends and it's just weird when you... I'm sorry I don't really know what I'm saying." She stopped talking then and felt herself flush from embarrassment as she tried to decide whether or not to sit closer to him.

"Weird when I what?" he didn't move because she seemed just like a rabbit ready to bolt. She was very cute when she blushed. But he didn't wanna tell her that.
He looked at her his eyes sparkling with with merriment and amusement as he teased her mercilessly. |
"Oh it's nothing," she said as she waved her hand in front of her face as though she was swatting away a fly. "I don't know you that well and I didn't want to encroach on your space." She moved a little closer then, taking her shoes off before drawing her feet up so that she was sitting crossed legged on the couch.

"This is much more becoming of you...." he turned sideways and leaned into the corner, and rested his head on a gigantic pillow.
He regarded her through half closed eyelids and payed no heed to the movie... |
Crystal became quiet though and she directed her eyes to the film. She actually wanted to watch the movie and barely noticed that she was getting stared at. She was used to it at times because there was almost always someone staring at her at home, watching her every movement. She jumped slightly at a scene before laughing at herself and calming down. "Have you seen this movie," she asked after a moment.

"Nah..." he responded automatically. He knew exactly what he'd watched, even though he was currently watching her.
"What about you?" he asked in response. She looked so absorbed by the movie that he thought that maybe, just maybe how she was at school wasn't the real her. "Crystal... are you hiding something?" he asked almost before he thought about it. |
Crystal wasn't really surprised that he hadn't seen the movie and she relaxed a little more since she'd been afraid he'd already seen it. She hadn't seen it, which was why she felt tense at the moment. She shook her head in response to the question.
"Why would I be hiding something," she asked honestly. She didn't know why she would really want to hide something but she knew she was. She was getting better at lying though and the less she knew someone the easier it was to lie to their face. |
Derain cocked a cool eyebrow and then sat up a bit straighter before moving closer to her. He crowded her purposely and leaned in close to her, observing the length and thickness of her eyelashes while he assume a calm and cool mask of indifference.
"You suck at lying... maybe some lessons from a master could remedy that...." he whispered his breath close to her ear, his broad chest pressed lightly against her arm. |
Crystal instictively leaned backwards slightly when he came closer to her, she could feel her heartbeat race when he came so close and she wasn't sure what to think. It was as if she couldn't think at that moment, she forgot about what her parents told her and forgot that she'd basically told him that she was hiding something. She could feel herself holding her breath now. "We should just watch the movie," she managed to say after a moment.

"I want to watch you..." he leaned even closer and brushed his lips against the rim of her ear seductively.
He knew he was playing a dangerous game, but he couldn't stop, he was completly commited to unraveling her little secret. |
Crystal couldn't move now that he was so close. She felt paralyzed by the scent of his cologne and the noise of the movie in the background didn't help. She noticed she was holding her breath suddenly, feeling it caught in her throat she tried to let it out smoothly but only managed to gasp for air. "I'm sorry," she managed to see in a quite, mouse like voice. "You're making me uncomfortable." She wanted to tell him what her parents did to her, what they told her to do, and what they would do if she didn't do it but she couldn't, she wouldn't have parents then.

Derain sensed the deep rooted fear in her and gave up. How could he make her reveal something that obviously she hide out of nessecity?
"If something happens, and you need a friend or place to stay. I want you to call me Crystal, I know whatever it is you have good reason to hide. I'll leave it alone now." And he did, subsiding into an almost sulky silence as he moved back a good enough distance not to crowd her anymore. He again sat on the opposite side of the couch. |
Crystal looked meek for a moment as she regained herself. She nodded slightly to his offer, grateful that she would have somewhere to go if her parents ever felt like kicking her out. If she refused to do this she knew she would get kicked out, she knew that she wouldn't be able to go back home.
There was a scream that emitted from the television suddenly and she jumped before grabbing one of his hands so that she could feel a little more secure. "I'm sorry," she said quietly when she noticed what she had done. |
"It's alright." he said with a slight smile as he squeezed her hand in reassurance. Well it was something that she had at least reached for him. She seemed so dang skitish. She gave off the impression of a deer caught in headlights.
To him it was irresistable. He kept her hand in his lightly, lightly enough that she could pull away should she wish to. But it was of no consequence. He was rather happy to just be her with her. |
When there was another scream she was next to him suddenly, burying her face in his shoulder and clutching on to his arm. She sat up quickly though and looked embarrassed, her cheeks flushed slightly. "I'm sorry," she said quietly." "I didn't mean to do that."
She stayed next to him despite her embarrassment, but she felt comfortable being next to him. In a sense she also felt safer somehow. |
Derain immediatly froze, the only movement coming from him was his breathing. He slowly let out his breath and just sat there and savored the feel of her close to him. He closed his eyes and just listened to her breathing.
He started to doze just a bit, something he never did around anyone. She had such a strange effect on him. And he just couldn't place it. So he let it play over him in swamping waves of calm. |
